I have been using Tracphone for the last 15 years or so, and have had at least 5 phones. I love how economical they are. You need to renew the time yearly,(about $125), but that's it. If you need minutes texts or data you can just buy on their website when you open an account. It is a little time consuming to activate a new phone and transfer all your data, but to me it's worth it because of the savings. I've found the best deals on Tracphones on HSN that include minutes, etc.
Our tracphone.is great, we have children from Alaska to Florida, and no matter how many times we call them or how long we talk, it's only 17.00 per month. Love it
TracFone may be an economical phone service if you never need to interact with their customer service. If you get one of their poorly trained representatives, and be aware the company is too cheap to hire American workers or train them well, you will regret ever having had anything to do with them. How about spending 3 hours on multiple calls trying to get your old number transferred to TracFone? And they fail to do so? How does that sound to you? How would you like being put on hold multiple times, while you hear typing and realize they put you on hold so they could chat with someone else? Sound good? And then you're told they can't transfer your number for some odd reason, but you go to a better company (Twigby in my case) and they succeed in setting you up in 15 minutes. So, since TracFone offers no refund on plans, you're stuck with the bill, but glad to be rid of them. Ah, but later you recall something about signing up for automatic payment, so you have to call and cancel that. The rep this time said they had no record of automatic payment, and it seemed my account was closed since it never had a phone number. Well guess what, an automatic payment appeared on my credit card a week later. I disputed the charge, but TracFone will have none of that, and I can't prove what the rep told me, so they are set to go on charging my credit card forever. I can only instruct my card company to never accept TracFone charges again, accept that I'm out 80-some dollars, and I hereby warn you, and go to BBB next for a complaint. Ask yourself if this is a company you want to do business with. Look for something better, and yes, a bit cheaper, like I did.
Tip for consumers:
Would have shown an uploaded photo as proof of purchase, but I'm not savvy enough to do that. There should be a way to just forward an email as proof of purchase. https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/#inbox/FMfcgzGrbvBmNPWKXssrRdVBxCllrMJB Not sure you can read this, but I definitely tried out TracFone and regret it.
