I love receiving packages from Try the World! It is so fun to open the box and see what snacks were selected. I just received my box for this month and it looks so delicious. It is hard not to devour everything at once.
Half the products were expired the other half are manufactured here in the US. When calling for a refund and to cancel order they told us nothing we can do Also picked Italy as country as preference, nothing from Italy was in the box. STAY AWAY FROM THIS SCAM COMPANY!

I ordered a three box grouping in February. Received a big discount to place this order. Received my first box at the end of March, second at the end of April and the 3rd today May 28,2024. Not one single item out of these three boxes came from any of my preferred countries. Most items came from the USA. I didn't receive the allotment number of items I was supposed to receive in each box. There was no paperwork to show where these products came from. I had to get a magnifying glass out to look at each product and Google where they were made. A lot of them will say their products from another country that if you look what city they were made in most of them are from New Jersey.
The worst part, before I even received my second box they charged me $105.00, not the $80.00 I had agreed to. I marked that I did not want to subscription but they signed me up for one anyway.
After my initial order I was never able to access my account again. The only emails I received from this company or offers for wine. I never received a single email to reset my password even though I tried daily.

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. Placed a bulk order for a company event for Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, and were promised an Asian snack box and less than 50% were Asian snacks. *, the sales rep was awful, really mean and gaslighted us the whole conversation. Avoid this company at all costs. Deserves 0 stars or rather minus, the snacks were cheap and bad.

Do not even create an account with this company. If you already have, ensure to email them to cancel as soon as possible! I was given a gift card for 3 boxes, and now am being charged to my credit card by them. The products were cheap, shipping was delayed, and my account information was leaked by the website.
Tip for consumers:
Horrible.

Delayed packages every month, won't cancel your subscription until after it renews and then refuses to refund saying that it has already renewed and there is nothing they can do as they are a subscription based service. Terrible business practice and will not be ordering from them ever again
Hi Tim,

I ordered this as a 1 time thing for my family to get an Italian box for Christmas. They never got it even though it was ordered a month before Christmas.
Eventually they received a box and only has Asian foods. It's been 3 months since the first box came and they're all Asian. I also selected the medium sized box and they upped the size to the largest size, thus charging more. Theirs is also no indication as to which country the goods are from.
There's nowhere on the account tab on their website to cancel. I sent an email. Waiting to see what happens.
Tip for consumers:
Read the fine print. If you think you’re signing up to send a friend a food gift box, you might be signing up to send them a gift box every month.

Hi Justin,
Thank you for contacting Try The World. We appreciate your updated review and we will make sure things go correctly going forward.
How disappointing. I got a subscription back when the company first started and I loved it. Now, it is worth about $3 at any corner market. Plus, no description of what you're getting and no refunds.
Hi Eliana,
Thank you for contacting Try the World. We're deeply sorry you didn't like your most recent boxes. Our boxes are around the globe themed. Can you please send us a new email to sayhello@trythrworld.com and we'll go over your account and fix this going forward for you? Thank you for your patience and understanding.
I work on an online subscription business, and the practices here are bordering on the level of a scam. We have rules we need to follow for consumers and I'm astounded they are able to get around it.
1. No confirmation email you can refer to - sometimes you wonder if this transaction even happened
2. Took 2 months to receive the first box. This was purchased for a birthday so you can imagine the disappointment.
3. No way to log in to check on your box, and due to lack of confirmation email you're just left in the dark unless you write in.
4. The boxes are REALLY bad quality. We got expired items/bordering on expiration, really cheap items that you can often find in U.S. supermarkets. Brilliant idea from them to take expiring inventory from supermarkets and package it up to sell for $40/box.
5. Worst of all, they renew you with no notice whatsoever. This is only mentioned in the fine print, and because you get no confirmation email you have no way to refer back to this.
These are some of the worst practices I've ever seen. DO NOT USE THEM.
Hi Lydia,

Can you please send us a new email to sayhello@trytheworld.com and we can go over your account and fix this going forward. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Its been over a month and not delivery yet! Or either communication to follow up. Disappointed from a consumer perspective, and wondering how the social media comments are restricted to keep the "positive ones" only… I'll continue to wait, and counting more weeks.
I hope the 1st box, corrects and meets expectations… to be continued
Tip for consumers:
The branding is nice!! Good marketing tool to catch costumers
Hi Herbert,

Arrived late, they sent potato soup mix, chicken flavored ramen, mini container of salt, chocolate covered cherries(milk & dark), chocolate chip shortbread cookies, crème filled wafer cookies, etc. I could have went to the grocery store and got the same stuff a lot cheaper. No one liked any of the products. Also be warned they auto renew even if select a one month trial so Beware and to cancel you must do so by email. Do Not Recommend

I signed up for the six month option thinking it was a one-off and would end after six months. I didn't see the small print UNDER the purchase button that said I was agreeing to recurring payments. Plus I signed up with a discount code and was renewed at full price, without receiving any courtesy email that $180 would be coming out of my account. I was able to get a refund, but it was a bit of a challenge, so I highly recommend setting a reminder for yourself to cancel your subscription if you don't want to keep it going by accident. Otherwise, the product was fun enough for the time we had it.

Our son gave us a $55 gift box for Christmas. We received cheap candy, an off brand package of ramen noodle, a small bag of chips and a small container of salt. Total cost estimated at maybe $10. Crap! Look somewhere else for a fun gift!
Hi Beth,

Trytheworld.com is a scam. I placed an one-year subscription in Oct 2023 and the first 2 boxes received contained stale and expired products. There is no explanation of what countries the snacks are from. They seem pretty random and look like they've been at the bottom of someone's pantry for decades. I emailed multiple times to the company's customer service department and ZERO communication back. My credit card company, American Express, got a customer service number for me. I called and that number is not in service *******277 (For those who want to keep trying). I learned my very expensive lesson. This is a SCAM. There is another company that does this, trytheworld is capitalizing on that company's model/similar name. BE AWARE!
Terrible customer service and disgusting response. I got this gift for my late grandfather and they auto-renewed the service. I reached out expecting they would make an exception- but NOPE. My grandmother is stuck receiving orders with her late husbands name on them every month until April.

Very bad value for the 80 dollars CAD that I paid you are supposed to be able to cancel through a subscription tab but the website does not have one nor can one be found on Google or through any other means! Overall experience and value comes across as being very scammy! Never sent an email to confirm original order (checked spam nothing there either) nor to notify that they were putting another order through likely so they can try to fly under the radar while getting as much money out of you as possible... AVOID!

Their (non) Customer Service number rings once and then goes busy-for days now! They also haven't replied to emails. They sent common (think Walmart) items without the nice display box they advertise. We can't even tell what "country" it is supposed to be from. Years ago we tried this and it was good. Not now!
My review contains the same complaints as others here, I had previously subscribed around 5 years ago and it was a very thoughtful box with unique products and had information about the food and country and recipes, even. I've received two boxes this year and they were a strange hodgepodge of items available at any grocery store, from different countries, and with no literature or ideas for how to use products (which I guess I don't need, since I just opened a box with a large squeeze bottle of mayonnaise and a container of lime juice).
Don't waste your money- funnily enough I cancelled my subscription and had it refunded, but they are somehow still sending me boxes. It's become an entertaining moment when they arrive and we get to see what weird things were thrown into a cheap box. But that's only because I'm not paying for them!
Our kids gave us a year of snacks, one box per month. I will be so happy when these boxes quit coming. Most of the snacks are tasteless, taste bad, or candy sweet. Also, when we started looking at expiration dates, we saw that almost everything was out of date.
I'm a long time subscriber who's fed up with their so-called customer service. During the past few months, my boxes simply have not shipped out unless and until I send a barrage of emails inquiring about the delay. This past month, they claimed that there was a delay that customers were notified about. I never got that alleged email and neither have any of the other subscribers I know. They used to be a fabulous service and the products are mostly good... but something happened along the way where they decided that they can treat their customers like poop since we've already pre-paid. Businesses with poor customer service rarely last... They've certainly lost my business.
Tip for consumers:
DO NOT BOTHER SUBSCRIBING. They do not care about their customers...at all.
Hi June, December was a tough month for us as we got tons of messages and had shipping issues with boxes. I'm sorry our message didn't get to you and delay in getting back to you. We never meant for any of our subscribers to feel that way, we simply couldn't get back to everyone fast enough. We are still working today to fix the issues from last month. I'm sorry once again June. -Customer Experience Team
I thought I'd be receiving a nice assortment of items from one country per box but instead receiving random junk from Italy, Peru, and Thailand. Things I could pick up at Whole Foods for less than $10! To top it off, customer service is a joke. I'm not sure if "Maria" is a bot, but she refused to engage with my request for a refund. Please save your money and do not buy from this company
Boxes are mediocre, and I had to chase them down by email before they even shipped. It was a gift subscription that was 3 months. So far, it's been 5 months and they've only received two, yet they tried to automatically renew for more. Don't bother with them.
They are behind for 3 months now with me. This is the second time I am experiencing a delay, so I haven't gotten a box since July and in July I got two boxes from a delay in May. During the delay 3 times I've been informed the exact thing, that they have had delays but that my box will be shipped out by the end of the week (that was a month ago). It's too bad because the product is great but the company is way too frustrating.
They really need to be more transparent with whats going on and be honest with when customers will actually get the products instead of repeatedly telling me that it will be shipped this week.
Where to start, first, I purchased a large box at the beginning of the month but found out soon after that it would NOT ship until the following month so I requested to cancel the order. Instead of allowing me to cancel they said that it would be shipped early and guaranteed to arrive by Christmas Day… it did NOT arrive by Christmas Day. When it did arrive it was a disappointment. I purchased the largest box and the box contained everything from duplicate items to things I wouldn't considered very "worldly". The box contained things like raman noodles and chocolate bars, juice etc. 98% of the things in the box I have seen or purchased before from my area's shops and grocery stores. On top of that, one of the packages was open and spilled all over the box during shipping.
I also emailed the company when the box did not arrive on Dec 25th and received no response from them. I will never recommend them or order again. Try a different company!
Tip for consumers:
Don’t purchase from this company.

Hi DR,

A colleague gave me a code for a free snack box as a holiday gift. I placed my order and knew something was strange when the order confirmation email told me that it would take two months for my order to arrive. When it arrived (two months later) the box was filled with expired and nearly expired items that looked like they were from a clearance section at a grocery store. Two items stood out however, samples of jam and coffee that included a brochures on each company. I reached out to those two boutique companies and they were shocked and dismayed to hear about their products being featured along side the clearance items. The company to which they had sent their samples operated under a different name (Urthbox). This is not an honest company. This is barely a company. They hide behind shell addresses and email automation services. Do. Not. Waste. Your. Money.
Tip for consumers:
Do not order! Avoid Try The World and UrthBox -- they are the same company and total scams.
