I created a service request to have my AC fixed. A month and four visits later and nothing has been done to fix my issue. It is currently summer in California. The inside of my home is over 100 degrees. Once the temperature exceeds 100 degrees the thermostat just reads "HI." There is no sense of urgency, nor does there seem to be an understanding of how critical the issue is. Customer service representatives are useless and provide no real resolutions. Worst insurance company I've ever dealt with. Completely unacceptable.
I've been with this company over 20 years and all they do is bandaid things like your air conditiong unit. They tried repairing mine in 100 degree heat 5 times! Then when they could not repair it any longer, as I sweated, they sent me to a 3rd party to get a replacement at over $6,200! They don't cover the items when you really need them covered. $500+/yr plus $75 service calls for near NOTHING.
March 27 2020 I made an electrical claim. Iam still going back and forth with them. They claim one day ot requires access which 2 of the 3 electricians they've sent out for diagnostics told us it did not that it's a simple wire replacement. The next day they tell me o we dont replace electrical wire. They promise me call backs from supervisors to resolve this issue. To date I've received no call backs. Bit I've called numerous times. Put on hold an hour plus been hung up on and lied to repeadedly. They are fraudsters and will take your money. Run from them dont waste your time or money. I just filed a complaint with the BBB today.
This company is as crooked as they come. Unprofessional and lowest rated companies they can find, come to assess broken item. They say everything is fine, appliance stays broken. Call back for second opinion, second technician actually professionally assess that said item is broken. Conveniently American home shield cant get a hold of technician who properly assessed broken appliance. Repeatedly called to hear what American home shield had to say, to no avail. Only to be told that they couldn't get a hold of company who assessed the damaged equipment. They will do this for weeks to months, to get you to just give up on trying. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY. I have been trying for two months to cancel my policy. There is no direct number to speak with someone about it. The call center is no help. They will give you the sales pitch and tell you all the reasons why you will regret canceling and when they finally consent to send you to the right department magically the wait is too long and they won't let you hold. They say they will call you back but they don't. It is quite a racket they have going. If they make it difficult for you you might come to your senses and decide you don't really need to cancel. Shoddy business practices for this day and age. I feel like I have been duped.
Cancellation is costly and lengthy. First, we just didn't renew our contract, but they still charged us. Then we called to cancel, but they said they couldn't cancel on budget day. We called again to cancel, and they claimed we'd get a refund within a couple weeks. No refund, and they charged us again. We called again to cancel, and they said we'd get an email within 10 days. No email, and they charged us again. We called and demanded something in writing. They only offered a 2-month refund while charging fees that exceeded the refund, so we somehow owed them money. We called again and they offered a 3-month refund but still charged an over $60 contract cancellation fee, even though we never renewed the previous contract. Keep in mind that each time you call, outsourced representatives put you on hold, pass you around between departments, and refuse to give you a straight answer. It's a living hell, and I don't know how AHS gets away with it.

Manager finally called this evening at 9:50 PM EST! AHS have been telling me that a manager would call me for the last 3 days, lied one time and said that someone tried to call me and this evening called me at 10PM! When I explained to the manager that I wanted to cancel the policy, she said that I had to call back in the morning and talk to the 'client retention' dept because, get this... they were closed then. Totally horrible, horrible company! Try to avoid at all costs!
One of the most horrible companies. Had called them multiple times for various issues on parents home. The contractors that they use are incompetent, always not on time and rude. AHS customer services is also the same. They promise to call back, reach back with a manager etc, but never follow through. Not recommending anyone to use them, at least in Houston, TX where A/Cs breakdown all the time and other issues related with flooding. Also, good luck in having them pay to replace appliances. They will pull every excuse not to honor their contract because they know that it won't be worthwhile for customers to take it to court, or follow a legal angle. They only care on the $50 or $100 deductible they charge on top of premiums, outsource ALL their services including the help desk, with employees and affiliates that are probably paid to low, taking away any incentive to do a good job, or help a customer. Horrible company and group of people!

None of the above were handled. Ended up buying a new A/C unit out of pocket and pay out of pocket for the rest of the repairs.
We had a water leak in the master bathroom. The first plumber would not get to it for a week. The second plumber did not have a leak detector. The third plumber said it was in the wall and needed approval to fix. American home shield never told us anything. We had to keep calling to get information. Canceled service and called another plumber who could fix the leak first visit. They tried twice to give me free service to stay although they still would not fix the leak.
6 weeks still no refrigerator in fact its still broken. Just went out and got a new one. This is the 2nd time since 2018 non refrigerator for 1 month then now it 6 weeks. They will do nothing to help me no compensation in fact they say I owe them money since I broke contract. I wonder what the higher ups would say? Do they care? My appointment was cancelled so much foe weeks at a time even though all the parts were here. One person said they should have given me money for a new one, because they spent more money on parts than the refrigerator was worth, that was a repair man. I have dropped my policy. Sent a technician out even though it wasn't under warranty. Although I specifically told them the problem before hand. So I canceled the service. After two months I'm still getting billed. Now they want the two months and a cancellation fee.
For every issue I have had, the contractors they send always report back that the issue is non-covered. They have not covered a single repair since I have had the insurance. It is less than worthless, it is a total rip-off. I would give zero stars if allowed. Read their BBB complaints and run the other way!

I would like to be able to leave a review on the actual service. Unfortunately they made that impossible. We made an appointment for them to send someone out this morning for an estimate on a major plumbing issue. They confirmed this morning we were home. An hour before the appointment they cancelled on us, claiming to be overbooked. If that was the case they would have rescheduled, not cancel.

I am totally disappointed in the results of a diagnosis and neglect of the lying contractor sent to fix our washer (Hotshot) who lied and said the washer was irreparable. Waited until the 30 days expired to dispute their diagnosis and get a 2nd opinion, changed their story and said our washer was repairable knowing their technicians stated Samsung appliances aren't, when the same part, the washer stabilizer. Has been replaced more than 3 times in a 2 year span...
They refuse to: send another contractor within the 30 days, allow me to speak to a supervisor or someone in authorization to discuss a cash out

This shady company is the worst of the worst. They take your money and then research ways they can deny any claim you give them. They lie to your face, repeatedly. Then have the audacity to tell you there's nothing they can do. They know they are enraging you so when you respond telling them this is bs they actually give you a warning, this actually made me laugh. But after we cancelled the contract because they are useless, I told them I'll give myself a warning, and to go f*ck themselves. Don't ever use them.
I had a water leak on 5/9/23. Today is 5/23/23 and the leak is still not fixed. The company assigned to my ticket has been unresponsive. They came to their appointment on 5/11/23 and refused to go into the crawl space to fix the leak, although I had stated that the leak was in the crawl space. So the technician left and I have not heard anything. I have called and called AHS and they keep looking into the matter with no luck. This is ridiculous that a water leak is now on day 14 and they don't care! I have been a customer for 10 years and the last several years they have went down hill hiring vendors that have bad reviews and don't fix the problem. I'm going to be canceling my contract.
Their contracts are written with such vague language the they can choose to deny anything they want. Don't bother calling to speak with a supervisor as they "claim" they don't have the ability to connect you to a supervisor. Tyrese (keyboard ranger), was rude and was more interested in attempting to speak over me and speak down to me. They are horrible and don't care. I have never seen so many perfect reviews on their own proprietary website. Way to bury the negative reviews.

It was very obvious that the "resolutions" dept. is graded on how many "cancelling customers" they persuade to keep the policy. I don't usually leave reviews, so this is a testament to how affected I am by my experience with AHS. I have been trying to work with AHS for over six months for someone to fix or replace my refrigerator. SIX MONTHS! The tech told me not to use it. Ummmm... okay, so where do I store my food? I call AHS roughly once a week for an update. The tech notes say that the parts are unavailable; still, AHS will not replace my fridge. Even with those notes, AHS sends a tech back to my house to re-evaluate because maybe, miraculously, my fridge will correct itself and regenerate parts. This is unacceptable. I'm out AHS.
After the Last Installer was here last spring, I cancelled AHS. He had my gas line laying on a sharp edge, left wires dangling in mid air, burned up my refrigerant line at the furnace that caused all the refrigerant to leak out (Shrader Valve), caused a water leak inside my new unit which caused water damaged, did not hook up the exhaust vent from the furnace and stuffed a sock in it, spliced the return air with a piece of Radiator hose, did not wire the heat pump in line with the furnace so it would go into emergency mode when needed. AHS blocks you from responding to their ads and will not warranty the technicians work after 60 days,. Humm, had to wait until winter to find out if the Heat pump worked, which it did not.
AHS - don't waste your money. My water heater was leaking and inspite of the contract stating that they will cover all parts and components, I had to pay $1100 from pocket for AHS to replace the water heater. Its not worth having a warranty with AHS so cancelled my services
Wow... this company is a rip off... i paid $100 dollars to get my ac fixed... guy came out and said he couldn't do anything because i have 2 connected ac systems... one won't work without the other but i didn't put it on the work order so he left... now american home shield is telling me i have to spend another $100 to get a new work order! They never fixed the $#*!ing problem and now they're trying to shake me down for more money... they said if i had added the 2nd system to the work order before the tech came out it wouldn't have been a problem but since i didn't i have to pay another $100... the website doesn't even give you the option to put it on the work order... stay very very very far away from this company... they are celebrating 50 years of taking advantage of home owners that are already strapped for cash... if i could give them less than 1 star i would

I was mistakenly charged for a service fee of $100 on 8-3-2020. I called on 8-4-2020 and spoke with a customer service representative. They apologized and told me the refund would be processed in 7-10 days. On 8-13, it hadn't been refunded, I called back and spoke with another representative, I was told it would be processed by 8-18. I called back on 8-20 to speak with another representative, she stated she see the request was made but will follow up and have a supervisor call me back and let me know when I can expect the refund. I never received a call back nor have I received a refund as of 8-30-2020. I requested to cancel the contract, of course that hasn't occurred either!
Unbelievable. DO NOT waste your time or money. I paid for a whole unit after 45 days of no HVAC because their contractors could NOT figure it out. It is a scam and no one calls back from AHS. I am not sure how they are in business. They allow contractors to show up, make you uncomfortable and despite illegal drugs being smoked on my property, they still tell me they HAVE TO COME.
This is by far the WORST company out there. You try to call and get someone in the Philippines that sounds concerned and promises to call back, and never happens ( called them now x5). Pluming company has come out 3 times is so inferior and does not fix the problem and can never get ahold of them either. I have been without a faucet for over a month and see no end to a finish. I don't know how they can stay in business, shame on them!
Do not buy AHS for the plumbing coverage! Appliance coverage is OK, but plumbing is less than a zero. My Georgia Plumber shouldn't have a contract with AHS for plumbing because there are too many loopholes in the coverage -- or should I say lack of coverage -- plan. They didn't fix anything, it cost me $125, and I learned that they have a very detailed set of instructions that, basically, make everything not covered. This is my second, and last, experience with AHS and My Georgia Plumber.
Tip for consumers:
You may want to buy AHS for the appliance coverage, but don't bother if plumbing is expected to be covered. There is always a reason why it isn't covered. They are 0 for 3 with me over the last 2 years on plumbing -- 2 recent and one a year ago.
