I created a service request to have my AC fixed. A month and four visits later and nothing has been done to fix my issue. It is currently summer in California. The inside of my home is over 100 degrees. Once the temperature exceeds 100 degrees the thermostat just reads "HI." There is no sense of urgency, nor does there seem to be an understanding of how critical the issue is. Customer service representatives are useless and provide no real resolutions. Worst insurance company I've ever dealt with. Completely unacceptable.
I've been a customer since 2018, I have only put in 3 service requests over that time and every request was a horrible experience. I still paid thousands of dollars to remedy the situations having to call private vendors to get the job done. AHS will try to offer you everything in the universe to stay on as a customer and none of it is worth it in my opinion. To top it off they want to charge the customer $67 to cancel there warranty. That in it self is unethical. The customer is cancelling because of the horrible service they have received from AHS and they have the nerve to want to charge you for their bad service. There are many other companies that rank higher in CS. Please save yourself the headache and go with another company.
Horrible from the top to the bottom! I've been charged double for over a year and half. After I caught the mistake and spent an hour on the phone trying to make them understand English they still charged me double again. These people are thieves! All I wanted was for the double charging to stop. I didn't raise cane over all that extra money I paid and they still managed to fail again. Now it's the weekend and NOBODY in this huge company can help. It's a travesty! I recommend Choice home warranty I use them for another house and they are way better! I wish I could Leave 0 stars or go into the negative!
I called AHS for a pool service. AHS only sends vendors that only work with them to deny your claim. Not only they are unethical, they will also give you the run around on the phone with their customer service so you give up. They steal your money and they should not be in business.
Tip for consumers:
Check the vendor rating before accepting the vendor. Unfortunately all their vendors are terrible

My mom and dad had been AHS customers for 29 years and paid well over ******* dollars only to have to cover over $7000 out of pocket for ac replacement a week after my father died. We I called to complain, they offered no relief. The rep was cold and callous. Then we decided to cancel and they charged her close to $400 in administrative fees. To add insult to injury, they would not allow the small refund to be applied to a different (active) credit card as the card on file had been canceled. They are a HORRID company who don't care about anything but their bottom line. There are no words.
The worst customer service ever. Over two weeks and no ac. I have been lied to numerous times. They sent a technician and he gave a diagnosis. They requested a second opinion, same diagnosis and they still haven't fixed it. Never able to talk to a manager. Find another warranty company before using them.
I have been in real estate for over 20 years. I know the value of a home warranty but DO NOT use this company. I fell for their five star reviews on their site and should have researched more. I have been charged as much as $900 over my service fee for work they state is covered. I'm a retired realtor and I know the value of a home warranty but not this company. I've had them now for several years and have found the company to be useless. I would go as far as to say they are a scam. One other note, they will install a lesser quality product. For example instead of Carrier they will only install Goodman. Not great for resale value. They state two days for a contractor to come out and it has been as long as three weeks now and I still dont have results. Worst company of any type that I have ever dealt with.
I have had AHS for 1 1/2 years now with no claims. I just noticed (my bad) that my $45 dollar monthly charge jumped up to $68 a month, 6 months ago. I received no email on this jump. I was not happy with this practice (similar to cable companies?)so changed to Liberty Guard. I called to cancel and NOW they offer a $125 off the policy. Plus, a $45 administrative fee to cancel. By the way, I had phoned last week (overseas outsource) to discuss the situation and nothing was offered which prompted me to search elsewhere. I had to wait to be transferred to the retention department today to get that $125 discount.
I had a very bad experience with AHS (American Home Shield). I called to repair the water heater and after the diagnostic they email me that I had to pay the contractor (plumber) that they sent $1311.12, because their plumber said he had to make modifications, which does not I covered by AHS, so I told them that I would look for my own plumber. From my pocket I paid $1500.00 for water heater and installation + $125.00 from co-pay to AHS, and it was not necessary to make any modification as required by the AHS contractor. AHS only sent me a voucher for $587.51 because they say that they do not pay for the installation and that the amount they sent is what the water heater costs them. In addition the contractors they sent have very bad reviews for the bad work they do. Also if the technician or contractor makes you a bad job or damages the property AHS are not responsible for that. I do not recommend them to anyone.

On the plus side, AHS repaired my dishwasher and air conditioner and replaced my water heater quickly and without any issues.
When it came to repairing my oven, however, the assigned contractor came to assess the problem and ordered a part, but never returned. I called the the contractor 14 times. Each time they promised to call back to schedule an appointment or show up for an appointment. I called AHS 8 times. Each time they apologized and offered to call the contractor again, but refused to assign a different contractor. This went on for 10 weeks until I filed a complaint with BBB. Only then did AHS assign a different contractor, which solved the problem. Thank goodness I "only" had to do without an oven for this period; it could have been my air conditioner or hot water heater.
Their service is a scam. I have been a member for over a year. I paid for my membership and each service call is another $75. I had 2 service call that either service was denied or the last time they damaged my appliances. Not count hours and hours I had to take off the work to deal with their customer service with no result.
Worst company I've ever experienced when my furnace went out they have fought me for months now and still won't settle after I've filed complaints against them with BBB and attorney generals office. Worst company you would be better off not having their coverage it's just a scam. Note this was a $1,575 policy

AHS doubled the monthly bill by increasing it twice each year without even notifying me. I could not resolve this issue over the phone. When I got fed up and finally told them I am canceling my contract they started offering some minimal discounts to keep me. When I rejected their offer, several representatives simply disconnected their phones. The last representative whom I talked became aggressive after hearing I am still cancelling my contract and charged me for the whole month in advance which I did not use/need and on top of that, he charged a Cancellation Admin Fee amounting to a one-month payment. Avoid this company at all costs - don't trust their rosy offers, which are valid until you take their bait!
Worst company ever!
We've been a paying costumers for over a year.
6 months ago we requested from AHS to come fix a leaking pipe since we received $500 water bill!
They didn't came or done anything. Now 6 month later, I've been calling everyday, spending at least an hour on the phone with them and still, nothing.
Now, the leakage has caused a flood in the basement, water bill is now $2500 and they don't want to do anything.
I've never dealt with any company that was this bad. They should be out of business. Only have one word to describe this - SCAM!
Tip for consumers:
Do use them! Bad reviews all over the internet!

Nothing. Paid for a full year and they scamed us.
AHS send a poorly trained contractor out to fix my washing machine He botched the job which resulted in three rooms in my home flooding. I called AHS only to be told "We're not responsible for water damage, sir." They even charged me the $75 fee for the visit.
Contractor not accepting responsibility. AHS not accepting responsibility.
The result? I'm out nearly $4,000 to cover my home insurance deductible and AHS could care less. Read your agreement... they clearly state they are not liable for anything. They hire lackluster contractors who botch repair jobs and then tell you "too bad."
Scam. Horrible company. Don't know how their employees sleep at night.
I do not recommend.
Been with them for 5 years. My first claim - 2 years ago - was for my water heater. They would only replace it if I payed an extra $400. For 'changes in installation'. Being a senior citizen and desperate for the replacement I paid this above the service charge.
My second claim this month was for a broken toilet. The guy they sent spent less than 4 minutes and told me they would not repair or replace because they didn't approve of the broken condition.
They will do anything to avoid honoring their contract when other than minor cost is involved.
Just a bunch of crooks who prey on seniors.

I have been a customer with AHS for almost 2 years. Air conditioner went out. Did not fix it, did not resolve it, did not offer their Pay Out option. No one would call back. Contractor lied stating that he fixed the air conditioner. Had to replace it myself due to their inability to provide service. I canceled my contract today with the rudest, most unprofessional snot of a representative ever. She was impossible to understand in terms of language, but I got her poor attitude loud and clear.
Tip for consumers:
They wanted to charge me $70 to cancel and threatened me with collections if I didn't pay it.

You cannot rewatch anyone in the US or anyone who can do anything but read the computer screen. It's horrible! No customer service. I would have given a zero if possible. I have spent well over 100 hours trying to get answers regarding hvac and furnace. Nothing! I am lied to every time I call.

Heat pump/AC coolant low last year. Took awhile to get someone out to figure out the problem - another appointment- charged the system -$750.00 for coolant plus service fee of $75.00. First hot spell this year, same problem, coolant gone, slow leak that did not get fixed on the first call and because of the 60 day recall policy I would be charged the same amount again and again and again if it took at least 61 days for it to leak out. Even if it took less than 60 days to continue leaking I would be responsible for replacing the coolant just not the service fee. Why am I paying them anything? Stupid!
Recently signed up for AHS. After requesting service for plumbing, I found that they send subpar plumbers. When you see the reviews on YELP. They all say the same thing they were unresponsive.
This is a waste of time & money. AHS do not cover anything & the subcontracted plumber is just there to come reject the request & collect their fee. What a rip off.
Stay away from AHS. I will cancel & get a referral from a reputable plumbing in my area who doesn't have 1 star reviews.
We purchased AHS when we moved last year. We had problems with our refrigerator and called them for a tech to come and look. The guy came and told us what was wrong and he showed us by pounding on the freezer door to show us how much the ice was in there. He told us he would order the part right away. We'll, that never happened. We called again and it was scheduled but no one came and no one called. This happened 4 times! I complained to the scheduling office many times... no phone call! This stinks big time! We are so mad! What a rip-off!
Don't use them very unhelpful as long as they get their money each month they won't help you when you need them. We had to pay out of pocket bc their vendor couldn't get back out until 4 days later (Texas is HOT) and it was there part that burned out. But we can't get reimbursed oh and their rep hung up on me and that's OK to deny my request for payment.
Tip for consumers:
All the reps during my conversation kept reading from a script it was horrible.
Save your money. They will repair as long as possible even if something needs to be replaced. I was without air conditioning for over two weeks and the temperature reached 85 in my condo. This time, it took many days to call back and I just replaced a 14 year old air conditioning unit.
If you have the misfortune of having an AHS home warranty policy, I feel for you. I had to live for nearly 1 month without a refrigerator because this company gave me the run around for weeks. They even went so far to send a service technician out here, only to peel out of my driveway as I stood in the doorway, and claimed that I wasn't home. I then had to make at least 10 phone calls (this is not an exaggeration) to finally speak to someone about my replacement options. I'm still waiting for my reimbursement check to be issued.
Been a customer for years. Refrigerator went out. It took them almost a year and me threatening to sue before they would do anything. Then lost my debit card so my auto payment wouldn't go through. They began calling me several times a day threatening action against me for failing to pay. Horrible company! The fact you can't write a review on google should say it all.

No choice. You pay monthly and when something of note happens you pay the deductible. You trust their contractor who now dictates service time and if they dont show AHS allows them to reschedule on your time! Where's the client rights to refuse and decide? Not happy. Feel like I'm held hostage by a company. Will not be renewing. Do the math and establish a maintenance acct for $75 a month and then use it to hire your own selected professionals.
