So far so good. I am slightly concerned that the description of my order no longer includes the specific UPC code: *******79959. I specifically want this version and hope that this is what the seller HPB Movies will provide (as was listed).
If I put a one star rating (I won't bore you with the reasons) and your response is: 'Oh you can't possibly mean that - would you like to think again?' then you are just inviting an even more negative response. Try not to be so irritating.
A straight forward process of ordering the book of my choice..
I was offered a range of used books at an acceptable price.
The interface feels outdated by about 20 years. I ran into technical issues twice and had to leave and come back. There should be a way of updating billing information on the main account page. I deleted an old address from my account page, only to have it show up again when I got to payment info.
I wanted to purchase an out-of-print title without giving money to Amazon and Amazon-owned companies.
It's really problematic that Alibris saves my credit card information every time without giving me a choice. I've already enquired about this, but was told there is no option to change this. This is a real problem for privacy - could this kindly be changed?
I've been charged international postage for a book going from the USA to the USA, for starters. Which makes me very angry. Then it rejected my Visa card entirely and I had to start again with a Mastercard. I'm beginning to rather go off Alibris. None of your offers are valid for more than a few seconds. Frankly, purchasing from you is becoming a bit of a nightmare.
You were the only people on the planet with the book I need. I didn't have a choice.
It would have been helpful if I could have gone from Vol 1 to Vol 2 without having to do a fresh search!
The cheapest in the UK. The saving from buying a US copy was cancelled out by the shipping increase.
You were the only ones with a copy!
Quick and easy. But the description does not match that on the Bookfinder site.
Bookfinder said it was the cheapest!
You had the cheapest copy in the world of the book I wanted!
Except for my last order which still has not come, I have been impressed by the speed of delivery and quality of the purchases. It would be nice to have an email from Alibris to explain a prolonged delay.
Because I do not use Amazon!
Love how the site lists all available copies for a specific title, in a clear manner without much clicking to see each prices and condition. Points that can be improved: Attach an actual picture of the copies, not just a generic image off the internet. Condition of the book is the most important part of buying used books.
The website is very clear and simple. But there were some glitches: a book that I saw minutes ago suddenly appeared as unavailable. Another title I already had on my wishlist, but when I tried to see details of it, it is saying that it was also unavailable. Even though I later can purchase it. So, it is in fact was still available.
Because it has the book I was looking for. And the shipping prices are very reasonable. I prefer this over abebooks, amazon or ebay which charge exorbitant high shipping costs.
I prefer to use Alibris than other online stores. I have used Alibris for many years now and always find a range of books in good condition at fair & affordable prices. I do think, however, that if one is purchasing a number of books from one store, there could be a shipping discount.
I always use Alibris.
Really difficult to find a voucher that worked. Tried over a dozen, orders had to be over £30 or £40, wasted a lot of time and effort... should have bought elsewhere but got so fed up with it and desperately need the book had no other choice than to proceed.
I believed they were the cheapest - they aren't - hidden costs. Bit of a con really.
I am blind and your site is not sight-impaired friendly. Otherwise it was Ok. I don't know whether I opted out of the email messages from you but I cannot deal with a lot of stuff in my inbox so please adjust if I signed up for messages. Thank you.
Because the world ordering site told me you had the book I needed at a good price.
My second order placed with Alibris today. On both occasions I had a lot of difficulty moving on from the "Confirm card details" page. This eventually led to a text message from my card issuer requesting confirmation of my intention to purchase, etc. etc., followed by an instruction to wait a further ten minutes. More etc. etc.s. Threats to cancel my card immediately in case of non-compliance. All rather tiresome.
Initially because I was looking for the Chicago University Press edition of the books in the first order I placed.
Excellent... my only concern is that the £2.99 shipping from the USA to the UK (which is very reasonable) will either mean that I receive the book sometime in two years time, or else I will end up just getting a message next week saying "Sorry, we actually meant to meant to charge you £XX. XX". In addition, with buying something from so far away, until this book is in my hand I will almost certainly be worrying if my money will go missing!
Access to a reasonably priced second hand copy of a hard-to-find book
No probs at the website end of things - let's see if there are any delivery issues...
Serendipity led me to you! (A wander through Google!)
Good prices, good and honestly presented quality of books, quick service.
I use Alibris so often that the question of why I use it today is only spuriously distinguishable from my general reasons for using you which I have outlined above (though maybe not entirely in concordance with the intention of the rubric).
The book is announced at Bookfinder at NOK 138, whereas your actual salesprice is NOK 174, due to the postage not being correctly advertised on Bookfinder.
It seemed to be the best priced at Bookfinder
Your total price far exceeds the information given in Bookfinder
Because I was tricked into believing you had the lowest price in Bookfinder
Pretty good by all counts! Wish I could have used paypal for payment but I understand!
Because I was getting presents for my sister and she doesn't want gifts from amazon XD
Generally excellent service. On 2 occasions 1 book from the order didn't arrive. I did contact the seller but once got no response this last time I did get a response and they sent me tracking information.
Generally very good service. I like using GB booksellers to send within the UK. I am in Canada but send books to my Mum and Dad in UK. They love receiving your books!
Only knew author but didn't take long to locate title, lots to choose from;went mid price.Looking forward to re visiting an old text book from school to remind myself of volcanic features before a holiday to the. Azores, can only remember vague terms to do with glaciation,
Clear site good description of condition of books
I selected 5 CDs, went to checkout but needed a new password and also have a new address. When this was done, you told me my basket was empty. So I returned to shop, but now the items I had selected are no longer available or in some cases more expensive. I am not happy.
In the past you have been good
It sai I would receive £3 off. My next order if I gave my email, but that didn't happen.
It had the book I was looking for at the most reasonable price
I live in the netherlands, we do not have Visa nor Mastercard credit cards, most of us only have debit cards. I had to ask a friend from Italy to lend me his Visa to pay for the book. Please offer more payment gateways, Paypal would be great.
Because the only place where I could find a cheap used book was this website.
Due to shipping issues on US site for UK to UK purchase and delivery they provided the.co.uk link to try to correct the issue. It worked but only if a proxy is used. Given the choice I would have given at least a 3.5 star rating. Thanks.
It's our go to for both domestic and international book purchases.
A quick message would say that the experience was excellent so that is more than 10 letters and I hate having to answer these things every time I order a book. Have a nice day, from a crotchety old gal.
As I said previously, I have found the convenience of sitting in Snowy Canada and ordering a book to be delivered in UK to my cousins, has been most convenient. Thank you ever so much. Merry Christmas to you.
Convenience
Glad to be able to order from Canada and have delivery in UK. Thank you.
Convenience of International business
Hello, When adding a book to the cart without entering my account and when entering the personal account it is no longer available. I imagine that the system saves the product in a non-existent basket without an account for 12 hours. Fortunately there was another copy at a similar price. Apart from this inconvenience, my buying experience will be good if the book arrives on time and in good condition. Thanks.
A hard-to-find book at a reasonable price.
Poor website, bad service, have not received a refund from a book that I bought, which got cancelled almost immediately after I ordered it.
For future references - please ensure your stock is updated on the website as I needed this book (which can only be bought secondhand these days) for important training that I am doing.
Alibris is easy to navigate and use, I can always find what I'm looking for with many options to choose from to suit my needs. I often hunt down used, more obscure books that are otherwise difficult to get my hands on, and I'm very pleased with how much easier Alibris has made this for me.
I've been very happy with my previous orders from you, with reliable service and hassle-free shopping.
Your software does not catch errors and it does not retain entered information when user makes an error. What I want is to be able to click PayPal which will seamlessly give you my contact details, without me needing to enter them, and allow me to pay simply and securely.
I wish I hadn't
I searched far and wide for this obscure publication of Kenneth Angers' I was quite pleased to find you were the only Bookselle this book (and for an exceptionally reasonable price! Thanking you in advance for this brilliant find!
