Always able to find a book that I want and at a price I can afford to pay. Pleased with the follow up on a tardy book - but it was the fault of 'The Christmas.' And Thrift Books delivered as they always have.

Prices are low - even with shipping costs, I can usually get used books in decent condition that cost less than brand new. I like the website feature that tells you about lower priced options before you checkout.

Individual shipping from multiple sources for the same title is doubling the cost of my order!. I understand the necessity (kinda?) but it seems that Alibris is large enough to consolidate identical offerings and ship from a central location. A bit frustrating, but not a deal breaker. Several sellers are deceptive with pricing. They have a cheap price and then gouge the buyer on shipping. It is somewhat outrageous and I had to remove items from my shopping cart and look at items from other sellers that were not outrageously marked up for shipping.

Again and again the booksellers here come through. I bought three "like new" used books that I bought as Christmas gifts for other people. These additions arrived in plenty of time, as described, so I could wrap them up and put them under the tree. Used book prices fit my tight budget, and allow me to be generous. Thank you!

Alibris will list e.g. Goodwill/ Dallas/ Los Angeles/ Seattle/ Baltimore, etc. One chooses the nearest city, hoping to receive for a certain date. That item ships from another faraway location, the shipping label printed at a completely different location.
Extremely pleased with the product but timing was a factor and "Goodwill: City nearby" option indicated a choice of location, while "Dallas" shipped from Los Angeles, label first printed in Ohio.

I did not mind the products coming a bit late due to Thanksgiving but the box was way too big for

2: total lack of paper or plastic filler

Overall it was solid. I found the books I was looking for with little difficulty, there were plenty of possible choices and the price point was great. My only complaint would be that I selected all three to come from the same specific bookstore and they instead shipped from different ones, neither of which was that store. That struck me as peculiar. I was hoping that maybe if they all shipped together it would cost less, but such was not the case.
Because it's way better than Amazon. The price for used books is a lot better, especially these specific ones, and it's far more ethical to support small used book stores.

My recent Alibris ordering experience went very well. There was a good selection of the titles I was looking for, prices were reasonable, and shipping speed, especially during the Holiday rush period was very good. All but 1 item made it to me by Christmas, and the last one was a day later. Books arrived well-packed and in good shape.

Alibris connects to small book stores across the country. This made finding an out of print title that was a gift for a family member so much easier. They were delighted to receive it! The quality was as described and the price was extremely reasonable.

I love Alibris. I just wish you were an actual physical location that I could walk into.
That said, my ordering experience was fine and easy.
The one frustration I have is when I knowingly ordered from Half Price Books in Dallas, via Alibris, I was charged separate shipping charges. Thankfully, everything got to me on time and I was able to do my own shipping of things to where they needed to go.
I was introduced to Alibris many years ago and have used Alibris, rather than another ordering service, to order books and dvds whenever I was unable to find things in a physical store.

Easy to filter results to get the book I want! In all the years I've been shopping here, I've only been disappointed once - and that was because the book had lived in a house with smokers. Not your fault. It is, however, easy to spend way too much time on the site, finding more things I want to read but have no more room on my bookshelves for.
Trying to order LESS from Amazon... and my local indie needed to charge me full hardcover price.

Considering the postal strike the package actually arrived when promised. I have not yet opened the packet to play the movie as it was part of a Christmas present and I am still trying to meet with it's intended recipient to give it to her.

Only suggestion is packaging: the root children book was in bubble envelope and delivered to mailbox. It got slightly dinged, but still in good enough shape to give a toddler who will do far worse the first week of handling.

Shipping is slower from the alibis warehouse but if you have the time and want to save on shipping it's a nice option. Private sellers were fast for my Christmas order, but everything arrived on time and in condition expected or better

I always check with Alibris books to see if they carry a book that's on my reading list. They usually have what I'm looking for at a great price. Their books arrive without highlights, no underlining or margin notes which can be very distracting.
