Love this site. Especially benefit from others' comments on posted recipes. Videos are incredible as a learning tool. Ingredient lookup function is priceless when you have leftovers and want to combine them/use them up. Very few sites that I'm faithful to and this is one!
I found two recipes that I followed on all recipes.com to yield results inconsistent with those advertised to be expected. It seemed as if they were just dreamt up, and published without any practical application. I then tried to submit a comment, and was advised that the email address does not exist.
I agree with other reviewers in that the update sucks, but my biggest complaint is that they took out the facility to make my own personal notes on recipes for my own use "use less salt", "add more cumin", etc. Also, this isn't unique to AllRecipes, but if you read 90% of the reviews for any particular dish, it is AFTER the recipe has been 'tweaked'. Ideally, if I see five stars for a particular recipe, that 'should' mean that most people made it as directed, and it is awesome as written, or if there are less stars, it isn't so good made as written. But that's not the case. People grab the recipe, and in their review, they note "I used half the cream...", "I added celery"..."I cooked at 350 degrees and not 425 degrees"..."I used peas instead of carrots"... on and on. The whole purpose of my looking at the rating system is so I can I can make a 5 star dish and get 5 star results, but when everyone is modifying the recipe before they make it, and THEN give it five stars... what good is that to me? I have to read 20 reviews and 'study' the changes to see how it 'might' come out 5 stars for me? People are so dense... they need to make the recipe as written, then rate it, then make it to suit their tastes. I would have no problem if I read a 3 star review with a comment like "This recipe was too spicy for my family, so I gave it 3 stars, so I made it again with half the chili, and more garlic (WHATEVER), and now my family loves it". Like I said, when people don't rate the recipe as printed, their rating is useless, making the whole rating system inaccurate and nonsensical. Would be nice if AllRecipes would have a checkbox in the review "I made this recipe exactly as written"... so then I could hit a checkbox "Show me the reviews where the recipe was made as written"... and then I could decide whether to make it or note. Because Doris in Minnesota cut the rosemary in half and added twice the paprika and gave a five star review... that's stupid... I don't go to AllRecipes to read Doris' tweak on a recipe.
Can't read reviews, can't even read my notes I made on the recipes in my Recipe Box. Recommended to many previously.
Was very useful and easy to use, now is the terrible! Not user friendly at all anymore. Will not use anymore.
I find this site to be a really great way to get fun new idea's to try making for dinner! I love the site and the app
I used to love this site, I used it all the time. I don't know what they have done but now it is terrible. Crashes all the time and is full of adds.
I used to love using this website, but now because you cannot search by ratings I go to other websites. Sad because this was the place to go!
It used to be a great site and you used to be able to sort by most popular. I don't bother with it anymore I find my recipes else where.
Tip for consumers:
use a site that you can search for the most popular
Products used:
No products to buy
I'm not sure who came up with the new format but they should be fired. It's slow, unorganized and just all around very terrible.
Littered with ads that pull you from what you're trying to read. Essentially useless. A giant waste of time.
You can't even sort by Rating anymore. Who made that genius decision, morons. The site is a pintrest wannabe now, and it's honestly very annoying.
Literally 3/4 of the home page is ads now. Lost all my save recipes. Doesn't even render correctly in chrome. Slow. Absolute shame.
On the old website, I could dsearch by keyword or ingredient, then sort by rating! Please bring back the old way of sorting!
You would try to save one of your recipes then you would go to your profile to look at it and it wouldn't be there.
I subscribed to allrecipes.com back in January of 2023. I was told that I would be receiving two cookbooks and so far today is June 10th of 2023, I had not received anything except one of my subscriptions for the spring of 2023 of the allrecipes magazine. Every time I have called, which has been about four or five separate times to tell them I had not received my two free gifts, I would be told, it takes 8 to 10 weeks! That's absurd! So, okay I'll wait that 8 to 10 weeks. Then I would call after 12 weeks still with no cookbooks, I'm told it's going to be there by the end of this week! No worries, ma'am, the girl says. That was in March.once again, today is June 10th. I have not received anything even a piece of paper that says all recipe cookbook! Anything! And today I was told that it was not shipped because in their system, it says I received it is! So that tells me that the last time I talked to somebody in March when she said it was going to be here at the end of that week, that's just a lie. So the guy today tells me that it's pending in the warehouse... hasn't moved. They're all liars. It's really messed up when youre told you'll receive a free item for signing up for their subscription and months later he still don't have anything. I'm starting out as a cook. I enjoy cooking, i use it as a stress reliever. Going through these last few months wondering where my free gift is was kind of adding to my stress. I just wanted them to follow through on their promise, which was two free cookbooks and like I said, I wasn't expecting these humongous cookbooks. I didn't care if it was a pamphlet. I just would have liked to have received what I was supposed to get and once again, i got let down and lied to multiple times. So as many times as you guys might like the recipes from All recipes, don't subscribe. I've never left a bad review about anything in my life I am 45 years old and this is the first time I felt the need that I had to actually leave this review because of the headache these people have given me since January.
I have to add when I told them that I wanted to unsubscribe because of this that was the fastest thing that they made happen within seconds I was unsubscribed.
I love AllRecipes.com it is so great to find new ideas of what to cook!
I wanted to learn to make waffles from scratch, while it said adjust servings, it would not let me!
I have used it several times and I like it. There are some great recipes on it.
All recipes have the best recipes and tips. Receiving them is therapeutic. Site won't openrecently
Can't read entire review on a recipe. Very frustrating. Why is this?
