“As a first time mom-to-be and business owner who is...”

Heather U.

As a first time mom-to-be and business owner who is client-facing daily, it can be a challenge to find appropriate maternity clothing. I need stylish, comfortable clothing suitable for a corporate environment. I've learned three things... 1) a dress and a cardigan is the third trimester equivilent to a skirt suit. 2) I *can* and will wear heels as long as I can through this pregnancy. And 3) A Pea in the Pod is a great place to shop, either on-line or at the boutique! I've purchased from many on-line maternity retailers, and www.apeainthepod.com is one of the few that i keep going back to. Sure, I've not found a maternity skirt suit, but I've found some amazing maternity dresses that are perfect for work, and dinner afterwards. Great styles, true to size, mostly quality materials, and good workmanship in most garmets. I did receive a cardigan with a small hole. I put in a stitch and kept it because it was WAY too cute and practical to return. One not so supportive comment from me... I do not feel like the models on the site are reflective of real pregnant women. I've love to see women who do not look as though they are not even pregnant. Its unrealistic to think your body will not change during pregnancy, and in fact... its unhealthy to promote such a view. Skinny women with "bumps" are NOT what its about. It makes me feel like whoever chooses the models is a guy or has never been pregnant. I'd spend even more money shopping here if I felt like what i wanted would look good on my pregnant body... not just on a stick figure with a belly pad. But really, this store is worth the difference in price that you may see with less expensive maternity clothing. I've shopped at motherhood.com and the quality of the material there is just revolting (yes, I've reviewed it.) I wonder if A Pea in the Pod has a non-maternity sister site/boutique!

“WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!”

Michelle L.

I called 4 times trying to exchange never worn, still tagged items for larger sizes. They laughed at me and told me that it's over their window of return. I explained they were for Christmas presents for my daughter, so she didn't get them until the end of December. I asked to speak with the supervisor twice. She never called me back the 1st time and the second time she called me back at the wrong phone number than what I had asked. I've never been pushed to my limit so far on a $800 order. They didn't offer me any solutions other than 20% off a new order. What a complete joke! I will NEVER be ordering from them ever again!

My only complaint was that some items seemed pricey. Quality was great!

I ordered two basic white tees from a Pea in the Pod and liked them so much I ordered two more for a period when I'd be traveling through the US along with two other nursing tops!

Never experienced such poor customer service! It took 10 days after confirming my order for the order to ship/show up on the UPS system. This was after multiple emails and a call (could not give me a reference number for some reason?) to request they cancel the order as it would arrive too late. In the end received an email full of legalese saying that only if the package had not arrived 10 business days after date of shipment (so 24 days after the order was confirmed) they would consider it lost and "offer a resolution."

My guess is this company has been acquired and they've done major cost cutting/arbitrage on deliveries/customer service. Overall a strange experience!

They only give you half your money back and use the rest for a shipping fee. They charged me $15 for shipping my return back to them.

First of all A Pea in a Pod is the SAME company as Motherhood Maternity, they carry overlapping product and A Pea in a Pod price is $15-$20 higher.

I happened to have bought the same pair of compression leggings from both company, Motherhood had it at $20 sth and A Pea in a pod at around $40 sth per pair.
They are exactly the same, only difference is color of packaging.
Since Motherhood Maternity's a little messed up on size chart, I don't mind paying more to get the right size. But the leggings from A Pea in a Pod have open stiches at the crunch area. I bought 2 pairs of them, both had the same issue. Meaning the batch might be all defective.
I'm size 00, usually wear XS or XXS, weight 113lbs at 28 weeks, measures 34-35 at hip size, and their legging's XS is measured 36-37 around hip so it's definitely not me breaking the product.

I have to contact customer services. They promised to issue a gift card to cover the defective merchandise, asked that I place another order, the difference and shipping paid to on the replacement order will be waived.
Sounds nice right?

In reality, they issued credit for only 1 pair of legging - I bought two. After communications, the other pair's refund credit goes to motherhood maternity... Hello?
Additional communications need to be made to combine them and point them to one website.

After making the replacement purchase, they have problem refund the difference too.
The agreement was to refund difference to original payment method, but their customer service refunded a random number- Yes, can't tell how it's calculated but surely LESS than the agreed mount, to gift credit, not original payment method.

Tons of emails with screenshots highlighting errors were sent to address the incorrect refund, but every customer care picking it up didn't bother to read the full detail, ignored the credit back request, and tried to get it over with by gift refund.

Had to make a call and request manager to get things straight

Will never buy from either website again

Tip for consumers:
Avoid anything full price, try to price match it to their sister website Motherhood Maternity

This company is so blatantly not customer friendly, to the extent that they don't even pretend to be. I made an online purchase and noticed a few days later that many of the items in my order were subsequently on sale. I went to the "contact us" section of their website in efforts to find a phone number, and only found an online contact submission form. So, I filled it out requesting a price adjustment, submitted it and waited to hear back. A week or so later I hadn't heard anything back, but I was able to find a customer service phone number in my order shipping confirmation email I'd since gotten, so I called to inquire. At that point, they told me they had no record of me contacting them via their website and that I should have called or sent them an email from my email account so as to have a record of said contact, as they only honor price adjustments requests made within 7 days of ordering... Yep, that's a company that really wants to do right by the customer and earn my repeat business, clearly.

Additionally, one of the items from my order was a bit big at the time of purchase, but I decided to hang on to it for when I was farther along in my pregnancy assuming it would fit later. After two months, I decided it still wasn't going to fit even late in my pregnancy so called about a return, even if just for store credit. The item was $100, so I obviously didn't want that money to just go to waste, but I would have been happy to use the funds for some nursing bras or other items I'll end up needing anyway. So, I again called into their customer support team, only to be told they only offer 30 days for returns, even for store credit. Adding insult to injury, the agent noted they had been offering extensions for returns given Covid, but would no longer be doing so. Again, the response of a company that really wants to foster repeat customers.

Needless to say, I will never shop with them again. They more than deserve the bankruptcy situation they are in.
