As a first time mom-to-be and business owner who is client-facing daily, it can be a challenge to find appropriate maternity clothing. I need stylish, comfortable clothing suitable for a corporate environment. I've learned three things... 1) a dress and a cardigan is the third trimester equivilent to a skirt suit. 2) I *can* and will wear heels as long as I can through this pregnancy. And 3) A Pea in the Pod is a great place to shop, either on-line or at the boutique! I've purchased from many on-line maternity retailers, and www.apeainthepod.com is one of the few that i keep going back to. Sure, I've not found a maternity skirt suit, but I've found some amazing maternity dresses that are perfect for work, and dinner afterwards. Great styles, true to size, mostly quality materials, and good workmanship in most garmets. I did receive a cardigan with a small hole. I put in a stitch and kept it because it was WAY too cute and practical to return. One not so supportive comment from me... I do not feel like the models on the site are reflective of real pregnant women. I've love to see women who do not look as though they are not even pregnant. Its unrealistic to think your body will not change during pregnancy, and in fact... its unhealthy to promote such a view. Skinny women with "bumps" are NOT what its about. It makes me feel like whoever chooses the models is a guy or has never been pregnant. I'd spend even more money shopping here if I felt like what i wanted would look good on my pregnant body... not just on a stick figure with a belly pad. But really, this store is worth the difference in price that you may see with less expensive maternity clothing. I've shopped at motherhood.com and the quality of the material there is just revolting (yes, I've reviewed it.) I wonder if A Pea in the Pod has a non-maternity sister site/boutique!
I called 4 times trying to exchange never worn, still tagged items for larger sizes. They laughed at me and told me that it's over their window of return. I explained they were for Christmas presents for my daughter, so she didn't get them until the end of December. I asked to speak with the supervisor twice. She never called me back the 1st time and the second time she called me back at the wrong phone number than what I had asked. I've never been pushed to my limit so far on a $800 order. They didn't offer me any solutions other than 20% off a new order. What a complete joke! I will NEVER be ordering from them ever again!
As much as I enjoy the clothing, I've experienced cancelled orders with no notification, items take a very long to ship, and everything is a little overpriced. My biggest complaint is the shipping cost and return policies. It's always surprising when a company still charges for a return shipping label given the e-commerce world we're living in. They're making enough money that they can offer free shipping and returns. They nickel and dime you as a customer. More than likely will not continue as a customer with them.

Tip for consumers:
DON'T EVER TRY TO EXCHANGE OR RETURN ITEMS!!
I've purchased a few gifts from a pea in the pod and have been happy with them, but the last present I got I was disappointed to find much cheaper at my local maternity store. By then it was too late to return it.
Tip for consumers:
Shop around!
Not only do they not offer free shipping (unless you spend over $150 which I didn't qualify for because I spent $130) but you have to pay to send your returns back. Theres no "free return" option because all their stores are closed! If your stores aren't open you should be offering free shipping then. There are so many other maternity companies that offer free shipping and returns that I won't be giving any more of my money to this company. Spent over $23 on shipping between the actual order and then the return of the items.
I ordered dresses from the site. 2 dresses were damaged and the company does not provide free returns, so you have to pay for returning the damaged goods. Also, their packaging is really flimsy. Just basically a cheap soft bag, so you have to buy a new return box.
Would not recommend.
This is the worst experience I've ever had with a clothing company for customer service. I ordered 2 dresses and 5 pairs of underwear. I received one dress I ordered, 3 pairs of underwear and one dress I did not order. I asked customer service to please send me the remainder of my order. They asked me to ship back the dress they sent by mistake and told me the dress I ordered was no longer available. They refused to even acknowledge the missing underwear in my order, asking for proof? My issue was never resolved and I'm literally just wearing the one dress I ordered from this crap company. The $65 dress I ordered I'll never receive bc no one will answer the phone or respond ro my emails.

I have never dealt with more unhelpful customer service. A friend purchased $400 worth of gifts for me and there was no mechanism to return those gifts without her being alerted to the fact that I was returning them and there was no way to provide me with a store credit or allow me to exchange. The woman from customer service was not helpful and was flat out rude and could not elevate my call to her boss. What kind of business does not offer a way to exchange or return gifts for store credit? After this experience, I don't even want the store credit because a business that runs like this is sure to go under. Don't shop here or waste your money.
I ordered 3 pairs of black leggings online, they sent me 2 pairs of black and a pair of grey. The packing slip confirms I ordered all black. According to their records I ordered grey, they told me there was nothing they could do and the packing slip was wrong. I spoke to 3 different people that said I was on the hook for shipping the item back. I order everything online, I know I ordered black as confirmed by my packing slip! But too bad, they treated me as though I was lying, even though I sent them a copy of the packing slip. I will never ever order from them again.
I placed an order after getting a coupon. My coupon was not applied and I was then told that one of the items was not eligible fir the coupon so I failed to make it over the minimum amount fit the coupon to apply. No offer to make an exception or provide me with an alternative given the amount I had spent. Intimately I returned the items in my order that were not final sale.
I stand behind Pea in the Pod products. However, very disappointed that as a former employee who stayed until the store closes, never received my severance package. Destination Maternity still in business! Should have been be able to Thank those who stayed with a promise of a Severance package, send them a check. In heinsight, we all should have left, let corporate closed all stores & see how it is when running & closing a store especially right befo5re holiday while working at a new job wasnt easy at the same time you expected us to make our numbers to sell, sell lots so you wont have to shop out much. I say we did a fabulous job. Amazing team. Not a single Thank you. So when are you going to mail my severance package? Thank me?
I order a dress for a special event and another item. I paid extra $50.00 for 2 business day shipment to make sure it got on time. They did not notify me that they did not have all the items on my order (the dress) and sent just the one more item I order which is not worth the extra money pay for 2 day shipment. When I called I was told they could not fulfill my order and will make an exception to give only $25 out of the $50 I paid for 2 day delivery, because they do not return what you paid extra to have your order faster. Their excuse was that I received one of the items and if I return that item still will not get time the total money paid for faster deliver. Do not pay 2 day shipment cause they will not return that money even though they do not fulfill the whole order.
They have no visibility of products they rep in their site. You place an order and the. Call for order status and they have no idea where your product is even though they have charged full order amount on your credit card. Really bad customer service..
I ordered a gift card along with 3 pieces of clothing online. Only 2/3 items arrived without a gift card. When I contacted them about the missing items they didn't respond. I re-sent the email. They responded saying that they would put a gift card in the mail via express (2 day mail). 12 days later the gift card arrived. I received on apologies and I still haven't received the last clothing item I purchased.
Please do not shop here! I was given a gift card and tried to use it and the item I ordered never came. They never told me it wasn't coming. After a few weeks of tracking it and realizing it wasn't coming I had to go to them to ask what happened and they gave me a refund. Then I order something else and the exact same thing happens. Finally I order a third item and when I went to use my gift card there is over $47 missing they never put back on my gift card. This company is a sham. Very disappointed for the prices you pay.
I ordered a pair of overalls online and when they arrived, there was a plastic bag full of advertising and a plastic baby bottle included with the order. I've never received such waste with any other company. I'd imagine 95% of these packets of junk go directly into the trash. Such waste for a few advertising dollars for Pea in the Pod. Anyway, I contacted Pea in the Pod via Facebook messenger and via email to try to get a free return label to return the advertising junk to them. FB responded once and then I had to follow up 4-5 times to get them to reply again. I was told I'd get a response in 48-72 hours. The person on email kept asking how they could help me and finally stopped responding. The person on the phone clearly couldn't care less, but at least sent me the return label. Terrible customer service. Wasteful company. Will not buy from them again.
BEWARE! I ordered two items online from A PEA IN THE POD and paid for expedited shipping.
I received a confirmation that the order was being processed but never received an email that the items were shipped.
When I called about the order, they informed me the order was cancelled by them because the items were out of stock. Four days later the charge from my order is still pending at the bank. My problem is the items showed in stock when I ordered and they never contacted me that the order was cancelled. They also processed the credit card as if the transaction was valid. BEWARE!
I spent a good bit of money online and after receiving all my items the majority didnt fit. No biggie until I wanted to return. I went to return and realized I had to cover the shipping cost. I figured since I live in NYC I would return to the store, NYC has everything right? Wrong. The shop in Macys wouldnt accept my return since they werent bought there. I had to spend $50 out of pocket to ship back what didnt fit. I was so angry I emailed them. Never heard back. Emailed again, never heard back. Ive reached out 5 times and still have heard nothing to date. Save your time and shop ASOS, cute clothes and FREE shipping and returns. Surprised this company can stay in business with such horrible customer service.
Hi, so I placed an order for 5 items, two of which I really wanted, the rest three items I had added to my basket since I was already paying the shipping fee. The customer service changed my order cancelling those two items I really wanted and shipped me the rest of the products - with no option to cancel my order and no waiver of the shipping fee. So I ended up with 3 items that I did not want worth around ~$20 +$13 shipment fee. I kept telling customer service that I would have not placed this order if I knew they were going to cancel my other items, and I told them this shipping fee does not make sense if I'm not getting all of these items. The only option they offered me is free shipping on my next order (and replacing those items at the same price if they ever come back in stock, which they also could not give any information for). They would just not reimburse me back on the shipping fee for this order, where I ended up paying $13 shipping for a $20 dollar order (because they cancelled the rest). This is not fair, so, I do not recommend buying from here because you do not know what they will cancel from your order and still charge you the shipping fee for whatever you are left with.
I've always been a loyal customer to this company. Slightly overpriced, but worth it to feel nice when your belly is taking up the entire room right!? I will no longer be patronizing this shady site. I purchased a dress that was depicted in one color on the site and unfortunate received the same dress in a completely different color. I called customer service to request a return label free of charge as the wrong item was sent and instead of simply clicking a button and sending me a silly label, I was instructed to send an email with multiple pictures of my order, the dress received, etc. Which seems like a ridiculous waste of everyone's time, but I complied only to receive an email stating that while the item depicted on the site wasn't the item received, they can't be responsible for giving accurate photos of everything on their site. So no, ma'am, we will not be sending you a return label for our mistake but please continue to spend hundreds of dollars with us, good day. Truly shockingly horrible customer service (who came up with this business model?!).
Shipping took over a month to arrive, which made me panic as I had originally bought this dress for my brother's wedding... Emails up and down to find out where my dress was!
It arrived and the quality was not quite what I had expected it to be, so I decided to return it.
I was charged $15 at the post office to return this dress and to make matters worse I was then informed by Pea in the Pod that a further $15 would be deducted off my refund for shipping costs... which of course I HAD ALREADY PAID FOR MYSELF.
All in all a terribly stressful and unpleasant shopping experience altogether.
I am sorry to say that I would NEVER recommend Pea in the Pod nor shop with them again.
I've written to Pea in a Pod twice concerning several items that unraveled after one washing. I've received no response despite that fact that I've spent over $1000 with them.
I sent the message below by both email and FB messenger two weeks ago. No response to either which seems consistent with their strategy now that I see other reviews.
Good Evening,
Id like to alert you to an experience my wife had at your Somerset Mall location in Troy, MI today. I gave her some items form your site for Christmas. A couple of the pants were to short for her liking. She attempted to exchange them at the store location, driving 45 minutes to do so. Your associate was so pushy and aggressive, insisting my wife buy a pair of pants that cost significantly more than her return or she wanted to spend. My wife felt like this purchase was the only solution the saleswoman would allow her to complete in order to exchange the pants. Pushy sales people are always annoying, within stores that cater to expecting mothers, its even more shameful. This was my first experience with your company and while it started just fine, my final impression is very poor. Hopefully youll consult with your store and educate them on how to help and assist customers, not pressure them.
Sincerely,
Matt Swegles
I RECEIVED THE WRONG ORDER - MY ACCOUNT HAS BEEN CHARGED FOR MY ORDER WHICH WAS NEVER RECEIVED. I LEFT MULTIPLE VOICEMAILS ANS EMAILS AND FINALLY SPOKE TO A VERY RUDE REP WHO WOULD NOT REFUND MY SHIPPING. THAT IS OUTRAGEOUS THAT I HAVE TO PAY FOR SHIPPING ON AN ORDER I DID NOT RECEIVE.
WILL NEVER ORDER FORM PEA IN THE POD AGAIN.
Clothes were fine. EXCEPT FOR ONE OF THE ITEMS WAS DEFECTIVE. I emailed pea in a pod MANY TIMES, and they did not even have the courtesy to awnser. Clothes are fine but be careful because they do not have good costumer service
