"A Place for mom" was a huge asset in helping my sisters and I, when it came time for our mom to move to an assisted living home. Our representative was knowledgeable, understanding, empathetic and showed great patience. Having never been down this road before the whole process would have been agony without their guidance and knowledge. From helpful and educational emails on various topics to supplying us with a list of properties to tour, and following up questions about decisions or additional information.
Please don't trust these people. They are all in it together. They stole all my mother's money and promised she'd always have a place to stay. They threw her in the hospital and refused to take her back into their facility when she finally got to another facility, they starved her to death. She went from 124 pounds down to 86 pounds in one month during Covid. I wasn't allowed to visit, they killed her Do not trust them they are all in it together. They act like they want to help you and they're so sympathetic soon as they get your money you can't get in touch with them.
David was very helpful and extraordinarily knowledgeable about elder care facilities in the Philadelphia area. He worked with me to provide three options for me to investigate, one of which I eventually chose as most suitable f r mom's future care. The process took more than one year from start to finish but David continually contacted me with updates and clarifications that were useful.
Seeing so many challenges, I feel I can be helpful in this community
Because it is a pathway
Less than zero chance I would ever use this service. As in America business is free under strict laws but sometimes not so can operate as they please, and reading how this company badgers people, people desperate and in need, people that see a commercial with a long ago tv personality trying to give the pickle to her viewers, is a true shame. Do your homework, understand this business is working on numbers, and the numbers add up to big profits for itself so beware!
Once they have your phone number, they harass you with constant phone calls from early morning until late in the evening. Different people calling so I would assume these people work from home NOT at an office. Im. Sad to have to say its a rip off outfit. Please don't waste your time
I was brushed off like toast crumbs when they realized I did not want to spend top dollar for an apartment. Seriously, it was the third question after my name and phone number, then "we'll get back to you."
How rude! Why advertise like you work with everyone when clearly you do not?
People usually have great luck and sadly I was in a desperate situation with my mom I. Rehab and called them 6 times in 48 hours begging for help. I needed an assisted living or nursing home. No one EVER called me back while everyone promised to do so immediately. I needed their help but it definitely was NOT there
Mary contacted me when I first began looking for an independent retirement community here in Bryan. She set up several appointments with the options available here and kept in weekly contact throughout the process. We found a place that my mother and I both liked and got her moved in. Mother has fought the idea of moving for several years but now is so happy she finally made the move. She now says she should have done this years ago. Thanks again for all your help Mary.
This is so great to hear! We will pass along your note to Mary!
I thought they were here to help but only created more stress at an extremely stressful, emotional and heartbreaking time. They called me while I was at work, sleeping ect., not to help but only to find out where we placed my dad to see if they could make a dollar from it. Very greedy and absolutely no help at! I believe the lady calling me also suffered from Alzheimer's because she'd call 2 hours after I spoke w her asking the same questions!
Firstly, there were no facilities in the community my Dad lived. To move him to a different community would mean getting him a new doctor, which is next to impossible. I received at least a phone call and an email every single day from someone from this organization. My Dad had squamous cell carcinoma on his cheek and we were told that it's operable and he won't die from it. We were glad about that. He also had dementia which was the reason we wanted to get into a care home. Long story not very short is that he passed away. When I informed a fellow following up by email, I never received a reply saying sorry for your loss. No reply at all! How uncaring can someone be? This really upset me. I would NEVER recommend this company to anyone. They do harass you by phone and email and as soon as their "bankroll" is gone, they drop you like a hot potato! Do your own research, everything is online. Talk to people for a personal opinion.
Working with A Place For Mom was great help in finding a place. They were a great help, with outstanding knowledge and patience to help
Jennifer was so helpful, compassionate and very genuine! My first conversation in was late July. I had 6 places to see in my inbox within 3 days. By August 31, 2019, my uncle was moved into the setting that suits him perfectly!! He is very happy, making new friends, and participating in things like bingo, and making decorations, more than I ever expected!
I would definitely recommend Jennifer and A Place for Mom to anyone!
Thank you very much!
Thanks so much for sharing your positive experience. We are so glad Jennifer was able to help you and your family out!
APlaceforMom website encourages you to write "reviews" but these are never posted. My mother signed a lease on the strength of the reviews there, only to realize reviews have not been updated in more than a year in spite of numerous negative residents' reviews for the same facility. I believe they are being censored to maintain referral relationships, which is fraud. I encourage anyone who ended up in an unsatisfactory living situation as a result of the skewed reviews here to organize for a class-action lawsuit.
Jill gave us many wonderful places to check and info on veteran's benefits, making the move to a wonderful assisted living facility possible for my dad.
It was a service I had heard of before.
I have attempted to use their services twice, once for my mother and another time for my mother-in-law. Both times I found them to be only suggesting locations that we could not afford. Obviously they are being paid by the higher end senior communities. I found two local facilities that were one third to one quarter the cost and took care of my loved ones with the same if not better care and expertise. The saying "Buyer Beware" fits perfectly here.
Thank you for your feedback. A Place for Mom is paid by our participating providers and communities, which enables us to offer families a cost-free service with no hidden fees.
Unfortunately, Americans are in a crisis when it comes to senior care. Senior living is expensive and it’s usually one of the most difficult decisions a family has to make. To help educate families on the costs associated with care, we created the Senior Care Price Index http://www.aplaceformom.com/senior-living-price-index which is a great resource to learn more about the costs associated with senior living.
My experience was nothing short of outstanding. My contact exceeded every expectation, followed up on every call or event, went out of her way to filter based on our needs facilities in our target area. This took a process and life event that we were not prepared to handle and walked us though in the most professional and caring manner anyone could imagine. I feel very fortunate to have had the experience of such caring and supportive organization.
Thank you so much for sharing! We appreciate it.
They post sites with "affordable and low income housing for seniors" they don't have any. Called six different sites all went back to a place for mom rep. If your senior is Social Security they" don't have a place for your mom." They are fault with the info on the website and always "so sorry We will look into getting it changed". Never happened then they call you continually, you can't get rid of them. Sorry bunch of people, they should be ashamed of themselves.
Most of their advisors do nothing to help families find a place for their loved ones. All they do is get your info and pass it along several communities and then keep on calling to find out where you moved so they can collect money from the assisted living that you chose. Very dishonest company. They demand pay from assisted living once someone moved into that facility, even thou they don't help at all the families, with anything. ( A few advisors are doing their job though). For the most part, they are scammers. Do yourself a favor and google assisted living facilities for yourself instead of using crocks that all they want is MONEY!
When you are looking to make a quick decision, A Place for Mom, spot on! Within seconds of providing my cell phone number online, received a phone call. Ability to ask questions that ended up giving me ten facilities that contacted me immediately thereafter. Certainly made my work easier since I was 500-miles away from Mom. Great follow-up as well to ensure I was able to meet with numerous facilities during my trip. My siblings glad our decision made easier with their assistance. Definitely recommend their service.
This service is worthless if you have any computers for your own research if you don't get circled back to s place for mom!
There is no true research on the quality of care or reviews from current residents, just where and whom to contact!
We had bad experience having used their service with a bad result on home care situation and had to move mom for better care and correct care where she was not drugged into submission! Then used an individual company with great results and all the information you need to have confidence in placement!
Tip for consumers:
Use an individual service who really knows the inside on most senior care choices and refers personally on individual needs. Also a free service!
They must just look up on the internet. Same as you can do. They sent me to help holes where I would not put my worst enemy. I ha e received so many sales calls since giving them my info. Like I hit some list. Now I see others stat that they sell your info. That would make sense. Although, I ha e no proof. Asked the woman to take me off the list and then get an email from a new person at their facility. Isn't that illegal of I ha e proof I told them to take me off the list? Do your own research. These people suck
My experience with a place for mom was horrible. They allow anyone to seek a referral for your family member without your permission. I never asked for it. They have no due diligence procedure to guard against this. Truthfully I don't think they care. Just want their referral fees at the expense of the family who may not even know they are referring your family member. Whats to stop them from being unethical in other areas?
My advise. Don't use them. Find another...
This place will violate your privacy by giving all your contact information without your consent to people who will harass you just to get a referral fee.
I made it clear that I did not want places emailing or calling me, but they ignored my request. I'm disabled and waiting to have surgery, but they keep on harassing me anyway.
A place for mom has a purpose if you live out of town. Otherwise, they only offer what you can do on your own without their referral service.
If they disrespect you by violating your boundaries, what do they really offer?

I have contacted a place for mom several times over the last few months and I have only gotten promises for a call back. No one has called me back. I don't think this service is good at all. I could even accept it if you just said you can't help me better than being strung along. You get an F from me.
Atria was getting too expensive. I looked at Brookdale and my dad moved over there. Never talked to you or had anything to do with you. Why are you trying to take credit for his move? How did you even know he moved? Are we on some kind of tracking list we don't know about and if so please take us off it.
Hi Phil - It is likely that your Senior Living Advisor included Brookdale in the original list of 3-6 Senior Living options that were sent to you. Families are not contractually obligated to use our service nor do they pay any fees for our service and they are free and welcome to do their own search, work with another referral service while they work with us, and/or stop working with us at any time. Please reach out to your Senior Living Advisor or contact us at feedback@aplaceformom.com for further assistance.
