"A Place for mom" was a huge asset in helping my sisters and I, when it came time for our mom to move to an assisted living home. Our representative was knowledgeable, understanding, empathetic and showed great patience. Having never been down this road before the whole process would have been agony without their guidance and knowledge. From helpful and educational emails on various topics to supplying us with a list of properties to tour, and following up questions about decisions or additional information.
Please don't trust these people. They are all in it together. They stole all my mother's money and promised she'd always have a place to stay. They threw her in the hospital and refused to take her back into their facility when she finally got to another facility, they starved her to death. She went from 124 pounds down to 86 pounds in one month during Covid. I wasn't allowed to visit, they killed her Do not trust them they are all in it together. They act like they want to help you and they're so sympathetic soon as they get your money you can't get in touch with them.
Let me start with they will get right to you. Our adviser Jennifer S. Has been outstanding. Being there for me with my mother. And has continued to give support even after I placed my mother. I give her more than 5 stars. It really does matter that you work with someone that truly understands and cares. Thanks for the good work J. S.
My mother in law had a sudden illness that left her unable to take care of herself long before we expected it to happen. A Place for Mom was there for us, narrowing our options to a workable number, and advising us about how to interview a site and make an informed decision. They also provided an app that helped us compile the information so it was easier to make a decision.
We moved mom into an assisted living home in May. As in person visits were not allowed due to COVID 19, I did a window visit and saw things that were disturbing. I went on line when I got home, filled out a questionnaire about mom and within 2 minutes of hitting the submit button I got a phone call. The people that I talked with were wonderful, set up a phone interview for the next day and we were able to move mom the next week. She is very happy in her new digs, likes the food and being busy. What a relief!
A Place for Mom sounded great. They were very friendly over the phone. Quickly sent me a email with places to check. BUT then I got calls, emails, texts from all those places - constantly - for months even my person passed.
A Place for MOM appears to be working for commission. They gave my personal information to all these places and they hounded me. I was VERY unhappy about their "services."

Place for Mom recommended 5 top places for our mom. We chose Cherryvale Place. They were very nice at first but as time went one mom did get the care she deserved at the price they were charging. When she passed only the workers gave their condolences. It was like the director and marketing person didn't care. When we had issue it took forever to getting any answers. We are very disappointed. We should have done a lot more research.
We contacted a Place for Mom and told them what type of place we needed, with special extras like a smoking area. They sent us a list of possibilities and we went to see three places, all of which met our criteria. My mother-in-law just moved into her new home and it meets all of her needs.
Thank you for sharing, Alexis!
I made the mistake of giving them my name and email in hopes of some real help finding a place for my dad. Instead is all they did was email me a mass list of every facility in my area. There was no one local who actually KNEW the places-pros & cons or helpful feedback about specific places-which is what I though ti would get. FUNNY how all there review are 5 stars on their own site! I went to a local professional Social Worker instead. He lives in my dad's area and was very familiar, such as knew owners, Directors, local reputation, etc. My advice-GO LOCAL.
I contacted A Place for Mom for assistance and direction in finding a new home for my mother. Stacy really listened to our needs, concerns and budget. We settled on a place she had recommended. I am very happy with the results. It was especially challenging to find an assisted living facility during COVID.
I was asked questions by the rep that answers the phone about budget for assisted living for my parents. Twice all I got back was a form letter saying that I would need to look into public funded assisted living without an explanation of what budget was needed. After the first email I called back and told the rep what happened. She said she would request someone get ahold of me again. Another form letter even though I had increased their budget. I got no human contact where I could ask questions. There has to be a better place than this for research help on assisted living.

From my first phone call through to my mother's placement in an assisted living facility near me, Donna Talerico was extraordinarily helpful: quick in picking up on my mother's particular needs and concerns (both medical and social), and deeply knowledgeable about all local options. The best possible placement turned out to be one of the first few she suggested. Furthermore, Donna's concern -- for both my mother an me -- was clearly genuine. I'm most grateful to her!
We are so happy to hear this! It makes our day to hear Donna was so helpful during this process!
This organization was a great help. Mary Lou Wason was fantastic. She provided a list of several places in my area. She was very sympathetic with what I was going through. She called several times to offer support and ideas. I understand that she has left A Place For Mom to work in a memory care facility. She will be missed. I'm sure the other representatives will do a fine job. If you are facing with the situation like this and need help in making decisions on how to take care of a relative, this is the first place to start.
My FIL had been in rehab following major surgery and his 100 days were coming due. He has a number of medical conditions and finding the right place for him to move and get the right care is challenging. On top of all of that, my family was in the process of selling our house and moving out of state. Erin at a place for mom handled all of the leg work and research! I ask a lot of questions, I always do a lot of research, on everything, and she did it all! Providing all of the details in one place so I could easily compare the different options and pros and cons, going to the websites, reading the fine print, having had someone actually visit the locations and have honest opinions about them. It was such and amazing help and relief to be able to focus on the immediate needs, rather than all of the planning of where my FIL would live next. I called him last night, and he had to call me later, he was with his buddies after dinner. Our conversations are now about his days, not just the parts of his body that hurt, he's actually healing better and faster now than he was at rehab!
Have used a place for mom before for my MIL, has always been a useful and helpful tool. In a world (assisted living, aging parents) that I have zero knowledge about, a place for mom basically held my hand and led me through, taught me what I needed to know and where to find more info if I wanted.
All they do is selling your contact information to dozens if not hundreds of facilities. You will be bombarded with phone calls. Then they just sit back and collect referral fee when you decide to go with any of the facilities, even if you made your decision based on other sources of information, or years later.
No service of any value is provided. All the facility information can be found online for free.
Actually better information exists on your state agency website or ombudsman website.
It's like you sign up a real estate agent, he just give your phone number to all the sellers on the market to call you. Then you recieves hundreds of calls and handle all the transaction process. He just sit back and collects his commission.
Hi Je - We are sorry to hear you feel this way. We help people with one of the most difficult decisions they will ever have to make: the process of helping an aging parent make “the transition” from living independently or with family to accepting outside assistance or moving to a senior living community. You are right, there are many services on the Web that will simply generate a list for you based on your desired care type and postal code. The majority of these lists consist of a property name, website and phone number. However, you still need to research each one to determine if they really offer what you need and meet your budget requirements. It can be an overwhelming and time-consuming task. The value of working with A Place for Mom is the opportunity to talk with an experienced and caring professional who can save you a ton of time by helping you first identify and prioritize your needs and then find the appropriate options. We hope that we can still be of assistance to you and your family but if you would like to be removed from future communications, please email us at privacy@aplaceformom.com.
I was connected with someone that had visitors Senior living facilities, and could assist me in making appointments. It was important for me to find an affordable solution for my loved one, and they directed me in the right direction!
Thank you!
With the help of A place for Mom we found Red Cedar Glen. My mom loves it here. She is more relaxed more outgoing. Enjoys being around people her own age but if she wants to be alone she can be in her own place.
Thank you for everything.
Melissa was very helpful and provided a large selection of referrals. She was friendly and responded quickly to requests or concerns. We are very happy with Normandy Park Senior Living. It is a wonderful place for our mom. She has adapted and is very happy with her room and facility. Thank you so much!
We are so happy to hear this!
We were looking for an assisted living facility for my mom who lives in a different state, A Place for Mom was extremely helpful in helping us to schedule many visits in a short amount of time. I would highly recommend them.
In addition, we received an extra $1,000 off as a one-time promotion.
Thank you for the recommendation!
A Place for Mom provided a great resource that did all the legwork for me. Once they narrowed down the search based on my criteria for my mom, I had a list of just 6-7 places to visit. We ended up with an amazing community for my mom and she is very happy there. Thanks so much for making the search much easier for me!
We are so happy to hear this and glad we could help make the process easier!
Be very careful if you are considering their service! They will hound you, call you, email you and text you. I've explained to them several times that I have found a place for my mom. They're a constant harassment. You have been warned.
After I called with an emergency placement for my mother, I truly became overwhelmed. I must have received 15 or so calls a day for several days. I needed one person to assist me, but I received calls from a plethora of folks from A Place for Mom. It was just too overwhelming to deal with so many phone calls. I didn't actually have the time for the calls because I needed to care for my mom.
Long story short, I had to find help on my own. None of this company's recommendations panned out, and the time waste was huge
Landings of Huber Heights is a great community for assisted living. My mother has been living there for about 7 months now. She has made many improvements thanks to the wonderful and caring staff! They have many activities and a nice dining room with great food cooked to order. The price is very affordable compared to other facilities. They have also been very diligent and took every precaution to keep our loved ones safe during COVID-19 which is very much appreciated.
I called to inquire about the services available and when it was determined that my loved one was too ill for the facilities offered by A Place For Mom, I was spoken to rudely, was offered no advice, and after less than a minute on the call she told me she had to take another call. It was a very upsetting call at a most difficult time. I would not recommend this service.
I was at a loss to find an appropriate home for my father. He has special circumstances and the only places available at first were triple our budget. A Place for Mom found us the perfect placement for him and I'm so relieved I contacted them. I doubt I would have found the home on my own, and I'm really busy with work. To have someone qualified do the work for me was invaluable.
Thank you Lynda. We are so glad that we could help you out!
Called them SEVERAL times trying to find a place for my grandmother. They NEVER returned any of my calls. I talked to a person once, my first call, and was never called back after giving them some minimal initial information. Of course, the initial questions were about $. Guess after they found out my grandmother was on a budget, they didn't care to "assist" in my search. Would never recommend A Place for Mom to anyone. Useless!
Thank you for sharing your feedback. Unfortunately, Americans are in a crisis when it comes to senior care. Senior living is expensive and it’s usually one of the most difficult decisions a family has to make. To help educate families on the costs associated with care, we created the Senior Care Price Index (http://www.aplaceformom.com/senior-living-price-index), which is a great resource to learn more about the costs associated with senior living. In addition, federal law prevents us from referring families directly to senior housing communities if the family desires to use public funds like Medicaid for housing costs. We have compiled tools to assist families with conducting their own independent search for their public funding needs. There are government resources available to help with the search for options: Administration on Aging, Eldercare.gov, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, The National Council on Aging, Department of Veterans Affairs and Disability.gov. We hope this helps and thank you again for your feedback.
While initially reluctant to use this service, I ended up very pleased with the service and assistance provided. We were assigned a single individual who worked with us to help select locations and schedule visits. I found the help refreshing and not pushy. The individual connected with us by phone or email, and was collaborative in her contacts with us. I would recommend the service to anyone who is willing to honestly interact with a knowledgeable service representative.
