BOA must have interest with this SCAM. BOA conspiracy must be obvious part of the scam... call was transferred to 3 associates trying to stop us from getting the victims' money refunded. The Bank Card services should be alarmed with all these credible complaints and file charges against SCAMMING ARCHIVES.COM... BEWARE.

So I tried the "one week free trial" and after 5 days I tried to cancel my account so that I wouldn't start getting billed. There was no option to do this on the website, so I contacted them through the website to request confirmation that my subscription had ended, which went unanswered. Six months later when I changed my bank card, I received an email saying "we were unable to bill you this month" from them and realised they had been billing me $15 per month for the past 6 months so I asked them to refund me. They said if I could provide any email evidence of my attempt to cancel my account they would do this, so I found a six month old email to their customer service team which clearly spelled out that I wanted my account cancelled before any costs were incurred and sent that back to them, but then they replied to say it didn't matter, they were unable to provide a refund regardless. I'm not sure how I ended up in a battle for my own money after somebody stole it out of my bank account.

You will never EVER EVER be able to get them to stop charging you. I'm going to turn them in to BBB. Do yourself a favor and avoid them like the plague!

They lure you in with an ad that promises to provide records you are searching for. Then you are forced to sign up for a trial period and provide your credit card information. Once in their site, the RECORDS ARE WORTHLESS. I completely forgot to cancel the trial subscription. After reading other reviews here, I see that cancelling may have become another issue altogether. A month later they, of course, charged me for a service I didn't use, I canceled and asked for a refund, but they must be desperate because they fought tooth and nail for the $9.99 and got it. STAY AWAY! You can most definitely find better info elsewhere on more reputable and customer-friendly websites.

Terrible
January 24, 2018

Every resource that was free after I paid for a subscription is free on other sites. They state they have access to newspaper archives but what they don't say is that you must also pay newspapers.com to access them. A waste of time and money.

I was in a rush to get a copy of my birth certificate so i found this website archives.com thinking they would help me. I know there are alot of women in the world with my name but my bday and social is who i say i am. They did NOT have any record of me anywhere. Okay i made sure i tried my married name (pointless) but i had to try, also made sure my city and state hospital i was born at was all in there and guess what? NOTHING they wanted me to sign up for a monthly thing okay i just needed it for that one time and i can Always cancel. Well wen i didnt find what i REALLY NEEDED they charged my card $9.99... so i complained with my bank received a new card and everything and now just today i see a charge ON MY NEW CARD $9.99! Not to mention they didnt have my email on file what kind of $#*! it that? I signed up with my regular email and they dont have it on file? So i called them of course they have no one to talk to other than a stupid robot so they never canceled the first time i asked them to. Im beyond pissed off and im actually going to be passing this along to my lawyer & the fbi as well as the BBB... for anyone please listen to the other reviews this isnt worth your time or anything. Let alone they do not deserve any money!

When I tried to cancel my trial period, which they make a bit difficult, the link led me back to the search page. What the hell is that? So I emailed them with screenshots of what happens when I try to click on the cancellation link. No response... then my Paypal gets debited and so I email them again regarding this issue. Silence is all I get. I have since disputed the charge with Paypal so hopefully I will get some progress with them and hopefully before Archives.com debits my Paypal account again.

Totally Worthless
July 9, 2017

This site is totally worthless. I attempted to find the records of 3 ancestors who I definitely knew were in the Civil War and 1 ancestor who was in the Revolutionary War, this site had NO records for all 4 of my ancestors. Total waste of money and time.

This Archive.com scam is operated by Ancestry.com. Sir John Rogerson Quay. Dublin Ireland.
What ever they say they are the same conmen/women who operate both companies. I thought I had cancelled my subscription 12 months ago but on going through my statements I discovered to my dismay they are still taking £8.95 monthly payments from my account.
I believe my bank must be partly responsible for allowing this to happen and I will be taking it up with them today.

Completely unscrupulous. I cancelled their service, got a confirmation email, and then they still tried to bill my card for a renewal. If you are somehow in their clutches, I seriously recommend that you cancel your credit card - I don't know another way to be sure.

I singed up for the free trial but could not access the site. When I contacted them to cancel, they responded that they had no registration for me, I must not have completed the registration. A month later they deducted $14.99 from my account which appeared as a payment to Dublin Archives. I emailed telling them to refund me and cancel registration and they replied saying they have no record of my email address and could I forward more details. I tried to ring the number they provided but it's incomplete or incorrect! When I contacted my bank I was told the only way I can stop them is by cancelling my debit card which I am doing asap. I was also advised that because I didn't receive a receipt I probably wont be able to get my money back. Total scam! Only gave them 1 star because I couldn't post without it.

I hate archives.com. On hold for 20 minutes to cancel. Not the same as ancestry.com. Originally signed up for ancestry.com; tired to use for professional research. Terrible.

Never ordered
April 18, 2017

Just realized they have been taking money out of my checking account for months. Shame on me for not being more vigilant. Don't know how they got my account. Something very fishy. Spoke to a rep instead of selecting the number to cancel. Want my money back. May call my bank to claim fraudulent charges.

Add us to list of the scammed. We already contacted the bank and they credited us the first time but they allowed them to continue to take out the same amount AGAIN this month. And adding to that, our bank is now refusing to help saying we should have contacted the company which everyone seems to agree is next to impossible. Is there anyone of legal authority that would be willing to take them out?

Avoid like the Plague!
January 27, 2017

This site is still taking payments from my Bank even though I cancelled(or believed I did) my free trial.
I want to apply for a refund of the money they have taken however when I attempt to sign in I get the message that they do not recognise my email address.
How on earth do I get through to these people?

I sent away for a certified copy of a divorce decree from the state of Arizona, and 4 weeks later received a copy of someone else's distribution of assets after death? I lm confused why their customer service refuses to respond.

This site is definately committing fraud. They charge way too much for something you can do yourself. Many are not aware of this. Stay far away from them. They ripped me off good and then hid in the "free trial" language that they charge a recurring fee. Total fraud. When I called them about it, archives.com was arrogant too and refused to credit my card. I got them though with my bank... who will not tolerate the likes of them. Hasta la vista archives.com.
