They were taking $$$ from my debit card. I couldn't cancel online or over the phone. Each one directed me back to the other. I finally called my bank to see if they would stop payment. My only option was to cancel my debit card and wait a week without one. That's what I did. I'll never signup for a free trial again.

I too have been scammed by Archives.com. I just discovered as far back as I can retrieve my checking account statements online which is 18 months they have been charging me 19.95 per month I can't even find a reachable phone number or contact online. What legal recourse do we have to get these crooks prosecuted? Does anyone have any suggestions?

What a scam! I called them to cancel and they ask why I was dissatisfied and would I be interested in continuing this service with a discount. I began asking about the company and who owned it. The rep on the telephone began telling me everything until she realized I was and Ancestry.com customer as well. From that point on it was like she bottled up with her free information and gladly refunded my money after hearing how upset I was knowing I was actually paying Ancestry double payments for essentially the same service. I am sure they have had so many negative comments, being that sitejabber and other online review sites are helping consumers become aware of these types of scams. I hate what you had to go through. How unprofessional on their behalf!
