Still have trouble get my deposit back after seller breaches contract without signing statement that no one broke agreement and it's mutually agreed to cancel the sale. If I broke the contract I would loose my deposit if the sellerror breaks contract NOTHING! Therefore don't use them

We are now going on our 9th month of escrow with these jokers. They don't have any of the deeds finalized on any of the properties they are listing. They will take you EMD and hold it forever. They don't care when they close because they have you on the hook and they keep dragging it out.

Scam
November 14, 2018

I really wished that i would had read reviews before bidding. I had won an auction and done all the paper work. I had the wired the money and everything. Guess what? I paid for title insurance and the place had a lien on it. They tried to get me to sign it still. The woman that ran title search told me if i go ahead and sign it that they can come back and take the house from me because I didnt really own it because of the lien that was on the house. I would have lost around 60,000 and no home The home that was being sold with a lien is reposted so yes they know this. The home is located in Switzerland county Indiana.

I have tried for several weeks to get someone there to answer the phone during business hours but all you get is voice mail. I also tried live chat TWICE and no one chatted.

I doubt this is a real business. The next thing I am going to do is contact the CA State Real Estate Licensing Board and investigate the person who claims to be the licensed real estate agent on the front page of auction.com Then I am going to contact my State Licensing Boards to see if he is registered to sell in my state.

This site has caused quite a few gray hairs for me! I agreed to buy a foreclosure house through a realtor. 2 weeks later it's on auction. I called auction.com and they assure me my SIGNED CONTRACT is NOT VALID and wanted me to BID ON MY OWN HOUSE. This is beyond lunacy. I'm guessing they get the listings from zillow.com because realtor no longer has the house listed.

I have purchased (live) 6 properties from various auction companies. Auction.com is by far the worst.
1. Their "estimated opening bid" is a total work of fiction by some kid behind a computer. Case-in-point: I'm currently looking at a property where the owners owe $417k on the primary and they estimate it to open for $260k.
2. The last time, they had an estimate of 117k and at the auction, they said it had an opening bid of 117k but would not take less than 134k. Strange.
3. When they do get the real opening bid from the bank (usually 2 days prior to the auction), they rarely post it. Other companies post it and what it sold for at auction.
4. They won't divulge what the property really sold for.
I have actually skipped auctions run by Auction.com just to avoid the circus that they are trying to create.

Buyers beware
August 2, 2019

Worse real estate transaction ever, it took over 40 days from contract expiration date to close a CASH deal, seemed all they wanted to discuss cancellation fees more then finish the deal specially when we provided everything they wanted. Also made us pay for their title company who did NOTHING even though we had our own. BUYERS BEWARE No sense of urgency, never call only emails. Have done several real estate deals in nyc, nj and pa, will never buy through them again

In the process of buying a house with Auction.com I got slammed with an extra and completely unanticipated $750.00 Fee from one of Auction. Coms sub companies. Too late to pull out they got my escrow money. Buyer BEWARE!
This on line in the stack of documents is what was used to justify this extra cost: Sellers attorney fees and other costs related to closing shall be borne and paid by the buyer. I calculated all the costs; I mean everything. I got a full estimate from my closing company. This $750.00 extra charge could have been any number with no justification. According to them.
This could be thousands of dollars that could not possible be anticipated.
The justification I got was The $750.00 is Ginalis flat rate fee to coordinate the closing on behalf of the seller. I had my closing company do all the work; and of course I paid them. So, what is the flat fee for? Look and see how owner Ginali. Google it.

I've bought several homes from auction.com - starting a few years ago. The experience has become worse with every house I buy. I am now totally finished. There is no deal THAT good to make it worth the hassle, problems, and attorney fees that these homes incur. The last experience was the final straw. It was obvious that the site was over bidding me in an attempt to bring the price of the house up. Fine... I have a max that I'm going to bid any way.

When their computer bidding, went over my max price I was willing to pay, I stopped bidding. The next day, they called me asking me if I wanted the house for the price that it had eventually "sold" for... Total sham! I said no thank you. Apparently, I was the highest bidder even though the "actual" price was about $50,000 more than my last bid! What a joke... These kind of unethical practices will stop when everyone just refuses to buy from their site. I'm finished with them. If you like home auctions, go directly to the county or some of the other reputable sites. With this amount of money changing hands, it's just not worth the risk!

I see that positive reviews were given here by the auction.com employees. I purchased a house from them and by the time I fixed it the cost was much higher than if I would buy from the owner house in good shape. I had many issues with the company - no replies to my multiple emails, ignoring calls, requests for money upfront, they place bids on their properties the second it goes online so if the add states "starting bid $******* the second it open you will see current bid at $160,000. And remember - those are the properties nobody want because people know about hidden issues and auction.com will not tell you. I repeat - THOSE ARE THE PROPERTIES NOBODY WANTS BECAUSE OF HIDDEN ISSUES AND AUCTION.COM WILL NEVER TELL YOU.

Thank you for your review. We are sorry to hear you did not have a great experience with Auction.Com. We would love a chance to discuss your experience by calling Customer Care 800-793-6107 or by emailing your contact information to CustomerCare@auction.com. Our properties are sold as is, where is., with all faults and limitations. You'll need to estimate any renovation costs from a distance. We recommend you perform due diligence, such as doing online research of current listings and recent sales of similar homes in the same neighborhood, and calculating estimated renovation costs. We also advise you to plan on interior upgrades like new carpet/floors, paint and appliances, as well as drive by and take photos of the exterior and neighborhood.

Thank you for your review. Sorry to hear you had that experience with Auction.Com. The information we receive is provided by the sellers. We recommend you do a search for the address in Auction.Com. It’s going to show “No Results,” but if you tap the button that says “Save Search,” if and when we add the property to our site, you would get an email letting you know. Please call Customer Care at (800) 793-6107, and we would love to walk you through the process.

Should be Zero
January 24, 2014

Should be Zero - what is the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT DOING ABOUT THIS SCAM SITE? Are they asleep at the wheel? Site has zero transparency, does not provide a log of bids and does not show winning high bid - 99% of listings have reserves much higher then the start price - waist of time and money. Fed should shut it down.

If you don't believe it, read this... http://www.nytimes.com/2016/06/27/business/dealbook/private-equity-housing-missteps.html?_r=0

They are a part of a private equity mortgage theft scam that is now taking over the real estate markets all over the US. They make money through every step of the process, and pricing out regular joes like us from ever owning a home or gaining prosperity through homeownership.
Never buy a home on this site... EVER!

Bid, won, now waiting to close. Our closing date had been pushed out four times already. I wish I could say that this experience has been easy but the waiting to close is very aggravating. If your told a date that you can expect to close and it doesn't happen its disappointing but you can understand things happen but then the second, third now forth time its beyond aggravating. I'm lucky I have a living situation that is flexible and not relying a dead line.
The customer service for this company is terrible. I was given different special contact names and numbers during different portions this process and every time I've tried to contact one of these special people I would get an answering machine with a message that said my call would be returned in twenty four hours, to this day I've never had a call returned. At this point I'm trying to disconnect myself mentality from the situation so by the time the closing does happen I'm not totally disgusted and resentful of what I've gone through to get what should be my happy new Home

This company listed my deceased parents home as a foreclosure. The home was still owned by the estate who had received no notice of the house being foreclosed. After further investigation, we learned that someone had stolen my mother's identity and opened a credit card in her name, to a po box across the state. After proving to the collection agency that she had passed away 6 years earlier, they wrote off the charges and cancelled the auction. We have been trying to contact Auction.com for weeks. We have sent them numerous emails, with court documentation proving the house is not being foreclosed, with no response. I have engaged in two separate live chat sessions (there is no number to actually talk to a real person with these people) with their representatives with the promise that this would be looked into and removed with no response. The false listing of our property is now impeding the legitimate sale of this property and has forced us to take legal action to have the listing removed.

Unethical behaver
June 18, 2015

They never really give you the right information and after they send out the agreement they change the dates
Trying to get a hold of some one is like a dead hole no replies
They tell you you can chose your own title but that is not the case
They take over a week to get the agreement then expect it back in a day
The personal filing out the paper work have zero business sense
Would highly recommend avoiding them at all cost
Even the sellers agent and the title company they picked say they are very unprofessional

I won a property on 2/6/2020 after a call from auction.com saying the buyer would accept the minimum bid of 52,250. I completed due diligence including deposit through service link. One week later I get an email from Zachary Melvin at Auction.com saying the house was going to HUD and I would get my deposit back. After 2 weeks and multiple attempts to contact Zachary and Service Link, I still have no deposit returned. BUT... They relisted the property on auction.com. CRAZY, HORRIBLE. I have purchased homes on HUBZU, HUD, and REO but NEVER experienced such craziness! RUN AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY no matter how tempting the property may seem. Go into the tax rolls, get the banks/owners name and contact them directly if you really like a property but DO NOT USE AUCTION.COM.
