This insurance company will find any and every way to kick out paying for anything. Be careful, they said "anything,.I Repeat, ANYTHING that punctures the skin is considered surgery"-- I went to a Dr. That does colorectal exams and that was billed under code that was once a routine exam, AND is NOW considered a surgery.
Also, Every time I get bills from Blue Cross of FEP blue the employees are difficult to deal with. HORRIBLE COMPANY W Even more disgusting rude, obnoxious employees. And don't even get me started on their ridiculous Nurse Help line. That doesn't help with anything, Their default is GO STRAIGHT TO THE ER!
This company is worthless when you need help. I called probably 30 times to argue a bill. The agents told us multiple times we were covered. It never was paid and we got sent to collections. I hope they have to shut their doors for taking advantage of customers. I took it up the ladder and even the manager would not help us when they said they would listen to the recorded calls and help us too. BCBS you should be ashamed of yourselves.
Never use BCBS of Tennessee they are the worst company around.
By the time you pay through premium and deductible you will be homeless.
What really makes me mad is when they don't help and ask if there is anything else they can help you with, when they didn't help you at all.
Never use them ever.
Ridiculously expensive and difficult to work with. I have been to the doctor a total of 4 times and owe around 8 thousand dollars because my visits and meds aren't being covered, even though I have been violently ill. Pure waste of money.
I will start off by saying if I could give ZERO stars, I would. BC/BS has terrible customer service... Today, I spent 40 minutes on the phone just to ask a routine question about my vision benefits...After going through an extensive phone tree, I finally got a LIVE representative on the phone. I asked her a question about my vision insurance. She then said that she had to transfer me to another line & transferred me to the Vision Line - this phone, by the way was not* listed anywhere on my insurance card. So after being transferred, I got another phone tree and explained that I wanted "Benefits" information. Then I am asked if I am calling from a mobile phone or land-line, so I hit option #1 for mobile phone - after that, I got a message saying that they were texting me a Link for the 'chat line"... I hung up, and never got the Link! I looked online, and found the Vision phone number & called back. This time I got an automated message saying that they are having technical difficulties, so "thank you and good-bye"... Ok, that's 40 minutes of my life I will never get back and also I never to speak to anyone either! BC/BS - please hire some LIVE representatives to man you phone lines- VERY SAD, that a member is unable to speak to anyone and has to sit on hold for 40 minutes, and get zero information - You can do better!
When BCBS was non-profit, before states transformed their Blues into public for profit insurance companies, they were much better as a company administering health insurance. Since your Anthems,. Etc have taken Blues for profit, covered medical care has plummeted, deductibles have spiked, rx formularies have really shrunk, because the patient or member is no longer the true Customer. The stockholders are. Last thing an insurance co wants to do in either health or property-casualty is pay out money that's due to people per contract. Going for profit dramatically exacerbates this mentality.
So marketplace decided to take back my tax credit for health insurance and being broke and redacted my allotment for said health insurance. Well they didn't tell blue cross blue shield but blue cross blue shield still wants their money but they should also know I can't afford that hence the marketplace health insurance with the astronomical deductible.
I'm trying to pay off what I can but I can either pay the billionaire profit health care corporation of blue cross blue shield the full payment a small amount or nothing and nothing is the winning option but I also lose my health insurance indefinitely. Make it make sense America. I hate it here. I might as well die its cheaper for me at least. Not anyone who has to bury me.
*mic drop*
I paid a specialist out of pocket after fleeing my abusive marriage. I begged BCBS to update my address but they refused UNTIL I filed a report with the BBB. However, they cut a check for reimbursement and MADE IT OUT TO MY ABUSER. That's right. Victoria Knight and Christopher Sollena took my money and mailed it to my abuser. I have filed multiple grievances to get the issue resolved but Victoria and Christopher are certain it is my fault they refused to update my address (and admitted that BCBS is so sexist they only mail checks to the husbands). If you are a woman, get your health insurance anywhere else.
New customers beware of letting bobs use your bank. My father-in-law passed away 9 months ago. Sent 3 death certificates with explanation. They canceled him ok but would not stop pulling premiums! Look out!
Yesterday, June 6 2023, BCBS gave me new iDirectory of Providers for occupation therapy as of 6/1/2023. I called two from UW: one had become a doctor and moved to Rochester years ago and the other moved out of area some time ago. Looked at next 7 on list…all are for pediatric care. Not up to date and not useful! Beware. Your doctor may be covered but those referred to may not be covered.
In September 2021 my father passed away. My sister was in charge of cancelling his medical insurance policy. She did that and provided the required certified Death Certificate to BCBS. The other day we were contacted by TD Bank regarding an overdrafted account. The account has not been used since dad passed away and was to be closed in 2023 once all final estate expenses are paid. Welllllllll, BCBS has continued auto debiting monthly insurance payments since dad passed away! SO now we/my sister needs to reach back out to the folks she talked to a year plus ago and have them refund over 12 months of monies! NOT COOL and a letter will go to BCBS Corporate/Office of the President. I wonder how many families they do this to?! Disgusting.
Bcbs does every thing they can think of to deny claims. If you have basic option under the federal program, be absolutely sure that every provider used is in network. A claim can be denied for anesthesia that could mean thousands out of pocket because it was billed from a different address even though the provider was in network. You don't have a choice of anesthesia provider used by the doctor doing the surgery and some of them use off site billing departments that are not in network. A couple of years ago I had to pay $1760. 00 for anesthesia even though the anesthiast was in network but the address of the billing company was not. I am having problems this year with three anesthesia bills for $600.00 each and one for $700.00 that were denied by bcbs. I would advise anyone not to use bcbs. This year because of OBAMACARE my catastrophic limit went from $5000. 00 per year to $7000. 00, I guess that is part of the $2500. 00 savings promised to everyone except me.
BCBST is absolutely useless for medical insurance. Their deductables are so high you will never reach. Presenting your insurance card to a doctor is a huge mistake. All doctor will charge you less if you had no insurance than if you show your BSBCT card. It looks more like a scam than anything else.
-lack of response from Mgemt when messaged by cust ser that customer has requested to speak with them
-claims are bounced between dental/medical with no payment approved after multiple surgery pics, bills etc continued to be provided (note: surgery needed due to medical issue missed by pediatric dr which caused speech/gum issue in toddler) per dental specialist and pediatrician they have seen this bouncing multiple times with other patients are patients expense by BCBS
-primary dr changed on patient accounts without notification sent to customer/patient causing patient/customer to pay co-pay that was not explained (note: internet shows primary dr is a specialist in his field of family/senior health - BCBS stating primary general family Dr is a specialist so co-pay required. This dr has been patients Dr for two yrs with no previous issue with BCBS last year
Ridiculous deductibles and try to avoid paying. Really bad. Look elsewhere for coverage unless it is the only insurer in your county.
