“I have been shopping on big deal for almost six months...”

I have been shopping on big deal for almost six months now. I have spent several thousand dollars on this site and have gotten some ABSOLUTELY AMAZING DEALS! I won a 52'' Toshiba TV for over 90% off including the shipping charges. I have won numerous Macbook computers as well. This site is the real deal auction site. You are even able to purchase products at a discount using your loyalty buck from member benefits that other sites don't offer this as a feature. Thanks Patriots

“You don't get your refund”

Anjana T.

I had 2 big deals: one with Metropolitan Repairs and the other with JW Home Improvements and was disappointed with both for different reasons. Metropolitan Repairs dilly-dallied too much and in the end informed me that Ms Santos Salvador left the country for family emergency and would not be able to do the jobs at my house. Big Deal tells me that it is outside of 30-day window and they cannot refund my money. Outrageous! It was Metropolitan Repairs that backed out and I have no interest in any other Big Deals. My request is simple: Give back my money and they have not since over a month. Their emails sound very professional, but I found them untrustworthy. I don't trust them anymore. With JW Home Improvement, all I wanted was to get the 200 dollar worth of work at my house, but the estimate they gave me was 1600 dollars. They can estimate what they think is the right value, but it was way outside my budget so I did not want the deal. I wanted my money back. Again, the Big Deals would not refund my money. Take my advise: Stay away from Big Deals!

Be forewarned. You're buying bids, not items. Plus, you'll never win since the auctions only go up 1 penny at a time (and that'll cost you $0.50 per click) Stay away, horrible website and customer service!

Absolutely horrible. My brother-in-law lost $500.00 the first weekend, and won two auctions that he saved very little money on. Becoming a part of bigdeal.com is the first step to wasting money on a website that uses computer generated bids to run the price of an item up so you cannot get a big deal... ever. If you are trying to save money, believe your instincts when they tell that getting 90% off a 27-inch iMac sounds too good to be true... because it simply is. You are very unlikely to save money using this site. Please stay away for your own good.

I had trouble with their "clocks" - mine would freeze up and I'd waste bids(which are $. 75@). There seem to be some who have mastered the bidding system and win all the merchandise. I'm trying to get a refund for the money I didn't use. It's a fun site but it didn't work for me. LW

I'm new to big deal as of two days ago. I only bought 30 bids for $22.50 and used only 5 to get a digital voice recorder. My final price was $6.14 and that includes the shipping. I've got 19 bids left after throwing a few away with hopes of getting another item with a last-second bid. Even if I add the $22.50 to the $6.14 I paid for the item (which I really wanted), I got it cheaper than I would have if I had bought it somewhere else. I don't see any scam evidence although on some of the popular items the total number of bid placed certainly gave big deal a big profit.

Bigdeal.com resolved their issue with me. I promised to correct my original complaint and in exchange they let me buy a computer at the full retail price. They gave me a full credit of the money that I spent on their site trying to figure out that people are paying upfront for every bid they make towards an item. They explained that this is not a regular auction site like Amazon or EBay where you bid for free on items. I have a computer and so I am happy.

Don't waste your money! You buy bids and I'm sure you are bidding against BOTS - then you've spent all your money (and they won't refund it - I've tried!) - then you can get a discount on something in their Value Department that you don't need.

Unless you have absolutely nothing else to do in your life, stay away from this site!

Need to change my opinion. I really don't think you can win in the long run, but I think the answer is not with the site, but rather the people who play. I am convinced they don't use bots, but many of the regulars do. The site claims that they have software to find and eliminate bots being used by patrons. But I can tell you for a fact, it does not get them (or at least many of them). And why would Bigdeal.com really care. It drives up the number of bids, and they profit from them. Do yourself a favor, stay as far away from penny auctions as possible. YOU CAN'T WIN!

Wow. Wish I had read the reviews before throwing $22 out the window to buy "tokens." This isn't bidding like ebay. Every time you bid you basically throw your money (away) into a hat. So some lucky bloke (rigged participant) buys a kindle for $7.42 and I leave $22 the poorer and nothing to show for it except for this comment and a lesson learned.

This has to be the most misleading deal e-bay has come up with yet.At least I think they are affiliated with e-bay. I would not advise anyone with the exception of my worst enemy to take advantage of this non-deal.If I can't get this disputed through my credit card co. I'll feel like the biggest goof in the world. It reminds me of one of those claw games at the carnival that no one can win.

It is nothing but a 'legal' scam. Stay away from them or they will just get your money. It isn't an auction, it is a carnival game that you can not win. They need to be investigated for misrepresentation.

I only tried this once and decided to take my losses and pay double for a ceramic heater I bought. It seems the same people are bidding and out bid you at the last minute, because you ran out of tokens. I'm just going to write it off as a lesson learned the hard way.

Actually, I think Bigdeal.com is exactly what they say they are. Capitalism at it's finest. Sure they are making tons of money... So What! If you read the tutorials with out rose colored glasses you will see that the bidding is nothing more than gambling at a slot machine. I have won several items all below 80% below retail and had a great time doing it. It was fun. My winning products Nintendo DSI XL, Xbox 360, Games etc. all shipped as promised and were factory sealed in perfect working order. My only complaint is I would like to be able to redeem a larger percentage of "Loyalty Bucks" off a product. Instead of $10 Loyalty Bucks off a $100 gift card... It should more like $30. Then I would have no issue buying more bids.

I tried it few times and spend quite a bit of money to do it. They have some weird system which which would let you win. It is more like lottery then anything else. And they say you don't lose as you can redeem your loyalty bucks to get a discount on diffrent things from there store where the prises are already way to high even after the discounts. So at this site only one person can win that is the owner Big Deal, believe me or waste your money and see for yourself choice is yours.

Avoid this place like the plague it is. If you have hours to waste and money to throw away, then it is mildly entertaining for about 10 minutes. The bidding clock resets itself every time someone makes a bid. Expect an account to up the bidding every time the clock reaches exactly 60 seconds, because that was my experience. If you want to throw away your money there are better sites for that.

I bought over $100.00 worth of bids, Didn't win anything lost it all, if your O. K. with gambling then this is a place for you, they offer some discounts on items for the money you spent on auctions that you didn't win... usually about 10 to 20 percent off, the normal Market price,, none of the merchandise I would pay full price for... The Power players are very hard to beat, on occasion some one seems to win something for a small amount, but it certainly wasn't me.the auctions takes forever to end, every time you place a bid the clock goes back to 30 seconds, and when your betting a penny it takes a long time for that auction to get to a point where someone could win. I got sucked into it WHAT A Waste of Time and Money. Please Watch the site carefully for a few days before buying!

I have been monitoring BigDeal.com for the past two days because I wanted to jump in and begin bidding to see if I could pick up an iPad really cheap. After watching just three auctions, I'm convinced they employ either bots or people to keep the bidding going and take your money. Here's the only example I need to give you. I just watched a "user" spend over 7 hours of their time spending over $820 of their own money on 75 cent bids (yes, over 1000 bids) for an iPad that they DID not win when they could have purchased one in 5 minutes for $729.00 from Apple or eBay. So, do you believe someone is that stupid? I don't either. The fact is, someone or somebot is bidding in order to keep the bidding going. Bigdeal.com is obviously a scam site. I have the screen shot of the above example if you want to see it.

You need to be really carefully spending your money here. This website pretty much just like SaveBig.com where...

I've won $15 LOWE's gift card for 31 cents. NICE indeed BUT...

31 cents is actually stands for 31 bids. It cost 60 cents per bid.
31 x 60 = $18.6 (this is how much the company actually make)...

Indeed I win a $15 gift card for 31 cents (YAY!) and lucky for me I just bid ONE TIME. But what about those people who bid against me like 10 times?. They lost 10x60 cents = 6 bucks...

Think about it. It's all depend on ur LUCK!
Coz I tried it again. Bidding another gift card. I bid 25 TIMES. I lost it all.
And I cannot even use it for a credit deduction to buy the item at retail price. (coz I was bidding using voucher bids NOT purchase bids).

Overall this company is pretty smart... I wish I am the owner LOL

I was tricked because they claim repeatedly that you cannot lose because they applying non-winning bids to special purchases, so their are no losers at thei site. What a joke!

I had $126 in these back-up bids. It turns out that they re worthless. They are to be applied to 5% discount for items that you pay full price for -I am going to try to reverse these charges with my bank bank, due to fraud. I have never done this before.

Big Deal was the first penny auction site that I visited and was surprised when I won an auction after only a few bids. I had checked the better business bureau before going to this site but still I did not believe that it was legit, until the order item came in the mail. After bidding on many different items (won some lost some) I must say that this site is awesome. I bid on an Ipod touch for my wife and lost but I was still able to purchase the item at a reduced price (each bid counts towards purchase price if you loss). I spent about $37.50 on the bids and then that $37.50 was subtracted from the total amount of the Ipod touch ($229.99 - 37.50 = 192.49). So I still won by having the money spent being subtracted from the sell price of the item. I lost nothing. The last thing that I would like to say is that the loyalty bucks are great. So if I loss an auction I still can buy the item at a reduced cost and still get loyalty bucks to discount other items. I love this site.

If you watching even for a short period of time, you will see that the "clock" resets to 30 seconds every time a bid is made on an item that is less than 30 seconds to "close". I signed up and started receiving a TON of spam. Will not ever bid there again and do not trust that site at all.

I have only had one experience with this website and I thought it was going to be a horrible one. I did not understand the way this site works as compared to EBay and when I joined and saw 50 bids at. 75 ea. Charged to my bank acct., I was very upset. I sent email immediately following the blunder, asking for a refund, explaining my misunderstanding of how this site works. I received a reply within 24 hrs. Informing me that my refund had been issued minus. 75. I cannot say how relieved I was and appreciative of not losing $37.50. After all the negative feedback I had read, I expected the worst. I won two auctions for 'e-certificates' two months ago. I have received only two 'e-mail codes' that they state can be exchanged for GIFT CERTIFICATES of my choice from a list furnished by them. I selected a firm on that list only to have them remove that firm from the list! They say thet their 'e-mail codes' can be used on third party sites but that is not true - they are not accepted! Their 'e-mail codes' cannot be used by third parties and are useless as gifts. BigDeal will not allow me to file any 'problem reports' any longer. I have been unable to find any phone number where I can discuss this problem with a live person. They just refuse to ship my won items and close all complaints filed as'problem solved'and refuse to permit any new problem complaints!

Wow... I played for just little and then ran some stats on my probability of winning and the bennefit this program has over consumers, I realize its by choice but these folks are banking $75 for every dollar that is bidded. At a penny a bid, I was looking at a Ipad and realized that it was at $184.82, in bids, this translates to $13,861.00 that has been bidded. My gosh, with these type of programs, we will definitely be in a recession.

Well I had some few bucks that I could burn so, I've decided to see how this auction site works. I will report back once I've completed an auction. I am currently bidding on a Nikon D90. My user name is 'Is_This_a_Skam' LOL. You guys can probably see my name on the auction history and see if there are any bot action going on. Good or Bad I will report back and just give my feedback. 04/12/2010
