I was a bit hesitant on choosing them due to some of the negative reviews, but the prices were great and I thought I would give them a try. My order arrived on time (earlier than expected actually) and all items were in great shape and accounted for. I saved over $20 going with Birthday Express and my overall experience was great.
You have to pay to ship product back and do not get refunded for shipping costs. There are restocking fees on certain items and they are very particular about what items are returnable at all. For example, unopened package of cupcake toppers, wrapped and sealed in plastic, can't be returned because as the customer service rep said, "they are edible." They are Gold Foiled paper decorations glued to toothpicks... not sure who would eat those. Anyway, they have great products but you must be sure that you want and need everything you order and that it will definetely get to you in time, or else your stuck with it.

I was worried about all the reviews i read here but i had already ordered. To my surprise my order arrived on time in very good condition and everything just as i ordered. I am delighted and happy i had a very good experience with them.

They FALSELY ADVERTISE and THE CUSTOMER SERVICE IS EXTREMELY RUDE! I ordered "realistic" cat plushies and the ones they sent were NOT the ones pictured online. (I've attached the photos, first is what they were SUPPOSED to look like, the second are the ones I got) There was no disclaimer; no message saying the items may look different than pictured. The ones they sent were cheaply made from the Oriental Trading Company! I called and they sent me the wrong cats AGAIN! At this point, my daughter's birthday party is RUINED! The nasty, rude customer service supervisor, Jo Dean, refused to refund my money, refused to connect me to a higher supervisor, and insisted she would not lose her job over her attitude. BOTTOM LINE: A LOUSY COMPANY WITH TERRIBLE, RUDE CUSTOMER SERVICE! DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY! JUST GO TO PARTY CITY!
First off, they have two different websites with different names, which I didn't realize until after I ordered from both sites because one of the sites was out of stock of a few items that I needed for my kids birthdays. I paid for two day shipping on both orders. One of the orders says it won't be delivered until four days after when it's supposed to be delivered and the other order still hasn't even shipped and they're both supposed to be delivered today. I've emailed and emailed them trying to get someone to help me, with no response from EITHER website. So now I'm out of $60, half of which was spent just for shipping AND MY ITEMS WONT EVEN BE DELIVERED ON TIME, and I won't have some of the most important things I needed for my kids parties.
I also placed my order for my daughter's 4th birthday on 2/20. Party was today 3/14. Got the confirmation with a guaranteed delivery of 3/3. Well that day came & went no decorations. I spent many conversations & hours with your company as to where & when the decorations would arrive. I even received a vm saying I would finally have my order on 3/13. I spoke with many CS reps who felt confident that would happen. Spoke with a cs on 3/13 in the am was told both my boxes shipped & would be delivered by 3pm. One box showed up a banner. All other decorations didn't ship. When I spoke with a supervisor, he asked if we could possible postpone my daughters party, that was the next day. Are you kidding me?! We had food, cake, invitations, family from out of town, oh & me about to have a baby. I ordered these decorations in more than enough time for delivery. The way this situation was handled is unacceptable. I spent last night running around town finding new decorations. Not what I wanted to be doing when I should've been getting things ready for the party. If you actually want decorations this isn't the company to order from.
Maybe I would recommend ordering from this site if you are 1 year away from your event. I put in my order and it had been over a week and there was still nothing being shipped it said "processing" I had to try to call customer service with no answer 5 times, and I had emailed with no answer. I then tried their live chat, and got ahold of someone who told me they were going to mark my order for priority, and that the package would be at my house the next day, being that it was only one day away from my guaranteed day to receive my package at my door. I checked the order status the next morning and it still said "processing" I then got on the chat AGAIN, and cancelled my order, however the money then takes up to 5 business days to go back into your account. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS SITE. Horrible customer service. If I could give no stars I would.
Only gave it 1 star as it wouldn't let me submit my review without it. I ordered Candyland party supplies for my 4 year old nephew. I ordered it on Sunday March 1st and paid for it to be shipped and here by Wed the 4th. It didn't come in so I called and was told they would refund the extra cost of shipping and was also told they will have it overnighted on Thursday to be here Friday for the party on Saturday. I did receive an email saying that they were refunding the shipping fee. I called on Thursday and they told me that it had been shipped out. As of today still no package. I called them again and they said "they were having problems with the distributers and that it hadn't been sent out yet" well why did they tell me yesterday it was already sent out?! Horrible service will never order from them again.
Horrible, horrible experience. I placed an order on their website, and they charged me multiple times for the same order and took ALL the money out of my bank account. I called them and the first person I talked to said there is only one charge and had no idea how to do her job. She advised I call my bank. I called my bank, and they said there definitely were charges, gave me authorization numbers for the charges and said there is nothing they can do until the charges are completed and I dispute the charges.
So I called Birthday Express again and kept hearing "sorry for the inconvenience" as if taking all my money away without my authorization is an "inconvenience." Finally, I talked to someone that could find the charges. They are refunding the many extra charges but it will take up to 5 days before I get my money back. I can't put gas in my car or go to the grocery store today to buy food for my son and they said "sorry for the inconvenience" and gave me 20% off my actual order as if that somehow makes this all better.
Run away. I will never use them ever again.
Best customer service! I ordered a Harry Potter birthday kit for my sons birthday. The package ships, no problems. The UPS guy has it out for me because i yelled at him about speeding and threatened to write him a ticket. Anyways, so UPS man marks this delivered and left by the front door. I return home, no package anywhere. I look all over, nothing. So i call Birthday Express and explain to them the party is in a few days. He says no problem, I will ship you another one. I was very surprised. UPS shipping isnt his fault, and how would he know if i didnt just keep the first shipment? So a few hour later im mowing and i happen to glance over and look into the front seat of an old car thats never used thats on my property and I see the first box in that car. Friggin UPS guy. I called them back and told them to cancel the second order. I was super impressed that they were going to ship me a 2nd box no questions asked. The Harry Potter party supplies were as advertised also. All around great experience!
I placed my order with birthday in a box before I read the reviews. After I read all of the awful reviews I was a little concerned, especially since I screwed up and put the wrong street address on my order. I contacted the company through email as well as through Facebook messenger. The person who emailed me back told me they couldnt do anything and Id have to contact FedEx once the package shipped. The person on Facebook however, told me that they would fix the issue. The next few days I was worried I wouldnt get the package, but it came right on time! I was missing one thing from my order, but I contacted them through Facebook again and they quickly took care of the issue. They seem to have great customer serivce, as long as you contact them through Facebook messenger. Im so glad I was able to get the Dr Seuss theme birthday pack for my daughter and nieces birthday next week. The only thing that I can see that other people are complaining about that is true is that they do send orders in boxes that are bigger than they need to be, with little to no packaging. But all of my stuff arrived intact and not damaged. I mean you are getting paper and plastic products, they dont need much protection. For the price you pay, you get a good deal! Try going to a party store and getting personalized gifts for the same price. You cant! I will definitely use them again and recommended them to others!
My sons 4th birthday was coming up and i decided to do a ninja turtle theme. I order everything on Sunday 7-6 even paid for express delivery should not take more than 2 days per representative... wed@ 5 pm i realize that it was already too many days so i decided to call ups and birthday express. Found out that shipment never left the warehouse and i got charge same day order and delivery fee of 18.99 for a 2 day express delivery. Obviously got very frustrated and pissed off because i had order cake and everything of ninja turtle theme and my sons birthday party was that Friday 7-10... spoke to manager and all she said was that she could refund the money but it would take 1-2 days approve refund and 3-5 for the money to show in my account! That is when i got more pissed off because i had to run to try to find everything that i needed right away and hundreds of dollars flying thanks to them...
DO NOT ORDER STUFF FROM HERE YOU WILL HAVE A CHILD WITHOUT A BIRTHDAY PARTY AND ALL YOU WILL GET FROM THE IS AN I'M SORRY.
I ordered a banner for my daughter and daughters friend birthday party. They sent me someone else's banner instead. I notified customer service beginning of the week and was told another shipment would be sent in time for the birthday party. I was lied to about the delivery date with no firm of consideration for the company's mess up. If you want a guarantee for a party I don't not recommend this company at all
Products are packaged and shipped carefully and quickly - we especially love their big life sized cut outs!
Ordered, emailed confirm & no product! 30 days later, no refund. Large company, keeps your money. SAD

May have great products but honestly I wouldn't know. Shipment for my moms surprise birthday party has YET to come in. When I called they basically said it was not their problem once it got to FedEx or USPS? Ok? Asked them to send me an expedited version of my order and I would return the other set when it arrived... no can do! Only way to get another order was to order a new set and they could give me free shipping. I said okay well I ordered Cyber Monday. Could you please give me that discount and when I get the other order can I return it? No, sorry we cannot honor that discount even though I am looking at the order and know you are telling the truth. The only thing I was offered was sorry to hear your mom's birthday is Saturday, and here is a $10 credit towards the order. I DONT WANT $10 credit I WANT WHAT I ORDERED ON TIME AS IT PROMISED I WOULD. HORRIBLE SERVICE. Why have a customer service line if you know that you have no intentions of helping your customers in any way at all? Would not recommend. I am a supporter of small business but this the type of service that makes people use Amazon, Walmart, etc.
After I realized I had selected the wrong things for my niece's graduation party early on Sunday morning at 2am (never shop when you are sleep deprived), I thought I would be able to cancel my order since it had not processed yet, JUST LIKE EVERY OTHER WEBSITE! HOWEVER, since they are "closed on Sundays" I waited until right after they opened on Monday morning and called immediately to tell them I'd like to change my order. The woman who answered said the order had already been processed... even though they were closed the day before and even though I HAD NOT received an email LIKE EVERY OTHER WEBSITE issues after your order is processed. Furthermore, she said that the items had already been packed and put on the truck for delivery. Again EVEN THOUGH I HAD NOT RECEIVED AN EMAIL CONFIRMATION that my items had been shipped. I was told I could return the package as soon as it arrive and receive a full refund. THREE WEEKS LATER, I HAVE YET TO BE ISSUED A REFUND and in fact was just asked to email them a list of all the items I returned so they could manually issue the credit since they haven't had time to inspect the returned package that they RECEIVED OVER A WEEK AGO!
Needless to say, I think everyone should know how unprofessional and dishonest this company is. STAY AWAY!
I had an easy question about a code not working on my online order. Over the course of 2 days I tried instant chat four times but quit each time once I had waited over 30 minutes for someone to come on the chat. I also tried calling multiple times with the same non-response. I emailed on October 28th and put a negative comment on their Facebook page the next day when I still had no response. I finally gave up on the code and just paid the stupid shipping charge. I got my items in a timely manner but there were missing items and items that were not as described. In fact the invoice enclosed with the order is different from the invoice online! I finally got an email response on November 11th, 15 days after I emailed them. And to add insult to injury, the email was a generic canned response and didn't even attempt to answer the original question! Then today, November 13th, they finally responded to my Facebook comment (2 weeks later). They apologized and told me to PM them if they could help now. Well, I did PM them but I don't have high hopes for any kind of resolution. My kid's birthday is today so it's not like they can replace anything now anyway. I think it's really weird that according to Google, this company is a trusted site and they have all these glowing reviews. However, if you look, there are actually lots and lots of negative reviews on other sites which makes me think Google is sanitizing the reviews. I also noticed the last year they received recognition as an outstanding company was 2013. Perhaps they underwent some kind of corporate restructuring and have a different person running things, accounting for the precipitous drop in customer satisfaction.
I placed my order with them on Oct 6 with guaranteed delivery by the 13th. I also ordered some things from Oriental Trading the same day. By Friday I had received shipping confirmation from Oriental Trading but not Birthday Express. On Saturday, I called their customer service and they confirmed that it had not shipped but was scheduled to be on the truck and sent out that day (10/10). By Sunday morning I had shipping confirmation but the tracking number was not found. Checked Monday, still nothing so I called back and she said it was picked up Monday as UPS didnt pick up from them on Saturday but they upgraded my shipping to overnight. I received my package on Tuesday as guaranteed, but there were items missing. Called Wed and they replaced them no questions asked and guaranteed them to be shipped in time for my party. The next day (Thurs) I had not received a shipping confirmation so I called back and they said that it had not shipped but they were sending it overnight and it would be to me by Friday (I told them my party was on Friday). My replacement items did arrive on Friday but around 6p.
Long story short, I will not order from them again. While their customer service folks were helpful and did follow through on their action items, the stress of having to constantly follow-up was more than it was worth. My advice is that if you do order from them, follow-up every other day until you have a tracking number. Each time I called customer service it was a bit of a wait, but there is an option for them to call you back which I utilized so that I wasn't left holding the phone for an extended period of time.
This company really needs to review their warehouse management/shipping processes because their current process is simply not working. I only gave them 2 stars because the customer service reps that I spoke with were very friendly and helpful.
