Be cautious when ordering from this company. They misrepresent their products—books are often shown or described with features like box covers that are not actually included in the shipment. Nowhere in the product descriptions is this made clear, which is especially frustrating if you're purchasing a book with a box cover as a gift.
In my experience, I received a book that was missing its advertised box cover. When I contacted customer service, I was told they make no guarantees about product condition and that as long as a book is readable, it's acceptable to ship. According to that logic, staff could mishandle or damage an item and still consider it good enough to send out just as long as it is "readable". If you care about the quality of the books you receive—or if you're shopping for a meaningful gift—I recommend steering clear of this company.
Instead, support local. If you're in Toronto, check out BMV Books for better quality, fair pricing, and a more reliable experience. You'll get great value while supporting a local business that takes pride in what they sell.
Don't waste your money here—there are better, more trustworthy options out there.

Not sure what's going on? I spent 170$ on books from here and shipping took forever for a week it went back and forth from different places in florida until a few days ago said it couldn't be delivered. Have called "customer service number" the first time said they couldn't take calls because their employees were in training? Second time I was "next In que line" but still said sorry they couldn't get to me try again later and hung up on me. If I was next in line why couldn't I just wait? I have send a request for help on email still haven't heard back. This is very disappointing.

I've ordered form here many times a mever had an issue until recently. While I know this was their problem to begin with. I can't be more than impressed with their rapid responses from customer service. A book I ordered didn't come in and they covered all costs to get it to me, on an order than got free shipping due to a promo. They responded quickly and sorted out the problem to no extra cost to me, also offering a refund. Excellent experience with them. Will continue to order from here.

I normally buy my books from another website but decided to give this site a try since it was $5.99 a book. I just got my order. The books are brand spanking new. I was so utterly shocked and excited. Will definitely buy my books here from now on. Thank you so much for high quality books at a great price.

I ordered 2 books at a total cost of $28.39 and received an email advising one of the books cannot be shipped. I tried to cancel the order online, but that is not possible. I called the book outlet and said I should have been notified BEFORE the order was sent that not all the books were available because I didn't want to pay $21.05 for one book. I was told they could not help me, and could not put me through to anyone who could. In future, I will order 3-4 books so if one isn't available, it is still worth the savings ordering from the book outlet. And ask - why not inform customers of short orders so they have the opportunity to cancel? And not end up paying over $20.00 for one book.

My daughter begged me to buy her a book and when I looked online I saw that Book Outlet carried it. I prefer to buy from smaller companies and hadn't heard of Book Outlet before, so I decided to order from them. I will not make that mistake again. I placed my order on February 27th and bought my daughter's book, plus another one for me since I had to pay for shipping. I got a notice that the order was on its way March 1. My daughter asked me every day when her book was coming. The shipment finally arrived on March 11 and my daughter opened it excitedly to find that only my book was in the large box. I contacted customer service and got a response a day later apologizing and saying they would refund my money but that her book was now out of stock and I could ask to be notified when it was back in stock. Since my daughter had waited so long already, I ended up just ordering from the huge company that I was trying to avoid. I will not try Book Outlet again. I don't understand how an order for two books could be so hard to fulfill. I wish I could get a refund on the other one I ordered, since it didn't even save me money after I paid for shipping. Seriously disappointing. I do not recommend this company.

Cheap prices, good communication and fast shipping.

Having ordered from Book Outlet for years, I expected some consideration when I send them a photo of a torn book cover from their latest shipment. They basically blew me off - no offer to replace upon return or even the slightest credit.

I placed a large order for an elementary school function in which books are to be given to students. After looking at shipping policies, I placed the order more than a month in advance to allow plenty of time for delivery. I was very happy with the selection and prices.
When the books arrived, the boxes were in horrible condition. Ripped boxes, boxes with holes, packing tape applied with the adhesive facing outward, etc. The books were all jumbled up inside. The post office had added taped to one of the boxes. This appeared to come right from the warehouse like this. Out of 8 boxes of books ordered, only 6 arrived. The post office would not even deliver the last two boxes, presumably because the packaging was so bad. I called the company and they said they could refund me, or replace the books that were still in stock, but could not guarantee on-time delivery for my event. I asked for expedited shipping, as this was the fault of Book Outlet, but was told they could not do that. Now I will wait and hope that I get the books on time for our event.

The box arrived broken and the books were damaged.

I've ordered books from BO a few times now. Sometimes the shipping takes a little longer than I'd like. This particular order was surprisingly fast. For the most part the books arrived in very good condition. One was a little more tattered than I'd like, but considering it's a book outlet, not anymore than I'd expect.

I have received books that were on fair condition and I have reached out to BO. They exchange them with no issues. I sent them pictures and they sent me a new copy in nearly excellent condition.
Customer service is always wonderful when working with BO.

This was my first haul through the book outlet. I ordered 17 books and payed less than $90 for it. They arrived on day 7 from purchase to delivery. I will be a regular customer

The boxes you use for shipping do not hold up well. I often receive boxes that range from partially open to completely obliterated and then taped back together by the postal service before delivery. The "tear here" strip down the center of the box rarely works. I love the products, just not the packaging.

Book Outlet had the books I wanted, which were intended for a gift. The price was good. No problems with sending the books to a different address than mine. Delivery was prompt.

Satisfactory … this is exactly why I don't do surveys…. I am satisfied with my experience but not willing to write an extended review.

I love the price but I hated how my books were packaged. The books were beat up, dirty, torn and wrinkled because they were not wrapped!

All books arrived in a timely manner. Cannot beat the price.
