I posted my job with its particular needs and within hours, I received two qualified candidates. This is after being told by higher ups that no one in the area could accommodate the time frame and jobs. Also very impressed with follow-up! Next time we have work to be done, I'm contacting BuildZoom first!
A lady posted a false review on their website and they do not verify or require any evidence! They will not remove after asking many times and even providing evidence myself of the false claim! Now I have to pay for an attorney to have review removed because it is tied to a Google search with my name! Worthless company if you ask me!
The contractor that BuildZoom referred to me had a criminal record for theft and burglary - and they only referred 1 contractor to me after telling me that up to 4 would be in touch. Thank God I looked it up myself and cancelled the meeting for an estimate. I've pulled my project from their site and will not be utilizing their services in the future. We've already gone through a nightmare with a contractor who turned out to be a criminal (we did not hire him through BuildZoom, which is why I decided to try it out), and I was hopeful that they could at least do a modicum of due diligence in checking the backgrounds of these people. It appears that I was incorrect. As always, buyer beware, and make sure to look at the background of anyone you hire, especially since BuildZoom doesn't seem interested in doing so for their users. To top it off, after informing them of this, all they did was say "Sorry about that" and then send me a survey on how satisfied I was with them. They were utterly and completely useless.
I recommend Durable Coatings of Iowa for a number of reasons. Their finished product is beautiful and easy to clean and maintain. The initial consultation with the company representative was informative. He helped answer all my questions about their products and service, which allowed me to easily see, the benefits of having my garage floor finished by Durable Coatings. The installers were timely, friendly and highly professional, from start-to-finish. Their work was second to none. The installers believed in what they were doing. You could see this in their dedicated effort to complete the job as perfectly as possible. Something I saw that one normally doesn't see, and that was, the installers actually liked what they were doing. This was noted in their body language, temperament and rapport. The price to do my garage floor was spot on, considering the amount of materials and effort that was needed to complete the job. Please give all your employees, that were involved with finishing my garage floor, a big pat on their backs. They deserve it to say the least. Thanks for a job well done...
Site was fast and easy to use, great service fast and reliable.

We were very pleased with the work that was done. They showed up when they said they would, did a good job, cleaned up afterwards, and stayed in the budget. We love the new look of our house
Easy to navigate; reviews were credible; nice to know that local people had these real experiences
Thank you for your review! We're glad you found our site easy to navigate and the reviews credible. It's great to know that hearing about real local experiences was helpful for you!
Hired plumber, Mike Nigro, excellent work. Definitely will use BuildZoom to find another contractor if and when another home project needs a professional.
Custom Care (Mark Eldridge owner) has done upgrades for my condo unit and also repairs for our Condo Association. Mark will thoroughly research many options for the best solution for a requested renovation or a needed repair, his construction industry knowledge is a tremendous value. Mark coordinates all the needed trades for the required work, even if it is not a staffed in-house trade skill, Mark is a very solid General Contractor. His entire team is always professional, timely and they complete the work with no surprises, a big plus in the world of contractors. Mark also gives excellent proactive advice to prevent future repairs and he ensures that the work his team completes meets and exceeds our expectations. Custom Care's estimating process, time scheduling for completing the work, communication and billing process are the best of any contractor we have worked with, very special and it takes a lot of stress off my "worry list". I would recommend Mark and the Custom Care team for any renovations or repairs needed for a personal property or a Condo Association.
Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed and positive experience with Custom Care and Mark Eldridge. We're delighted to hear that Mark and his team have provided exceptional service for both your condo unit and your Condo Association. It's great to know that their thorough research, industry knowledge, and professional coordination have been valuable to you. We appreciate your recommendation and are pleased that Custom Care has been able to meet and exceed your expectations, easing your concerns with their excellent process and communication. If you need any further assistance or have future projects, please don't hesitate to reach out.
I have referenced a few of the people I have hired from this website and it has been very helpful for me. The information on here has been accurate!
Thank you for your feedback! We're glad to hear that the information on our site has been accurate and helpful for your hiring needs. We appreciate your support!
The designers did an excellent job giving our website a fresh, professional look. They got what we were going for completely and executed it perfectly.
WOW! With Customer Service by today's standards becoming so mediocre and lax in every aspect and profession, our faith was restored when reaching out to Daudert Plumbing, Inc. due to major leak in our Master Bath Shower. Not only were they out within 24 hours of my reaching out to them, they resolved the issue timely, professionally and affordably and "Who Knew We Had That Kind of Water Pressure Before This Repair" (was a bonus we didn't expect!) I was able to share by phone with photos with Jim (Father) of the issue so that they could do all possible to bring all parts needed to resolve problem without having to make a return visit. Jimmy (Son) was out the next morning and at time that was given. What a wonderful, delightful and knowledgeable young man. His Dad has to be proud. We were so impressed with him as he explained the service, did not try to upsell us on something not needed at this time and was in and out timely and "YEAH" no more leak (that had been going on since a month earlier) with a handyman originally called saying part was on back order and was attempting to sell part that was absolutely not needed). Daudert has our business for as long as they are around. Just a really great family-owned business where the pride they have in their work will keep us coming back to Daudert Plumbing Inc with any future plumbing issues and we undoubtably have no qualms about recommending them to our neighbors and friends. THEY ARE "GOOD GUYS!"
Tip for consumers:

The scope of our property remodel was larger than we could manage. The yard around our home is comprised of a front yard 45 ft wide by 25 ft deep, two side yard strips 2-6 feet wide by 60 feet deep and 8 smaller irregular spaces in the front and back yard.
After 19 years these areas had become overgrown requiring a complete clearing and total rebuild. The goal was to beautify the area and reduce its maintenance. We chose to convert the front yard into a small park with artificial turf interspersed around the trees. The side strips received new plants with river rock as the base. The smaller spaces had numerous pots to be repotted with plants appropriate for the sun or shade as each area dictated. The watering system needed a complete rebuild to automatically and independently water each area.
We considered doing some of the work ourselves and bidding out the more complex sections. We interviewed several companies and selected Black Diamond to complete the entire remodel
David Kingsbury was project manager and Max Riveira was the crew manager (these two men were a pleasure to interface with). Jose supervised different crews through each phase of the project. Wet Weather created some delays but the crews worked through much of it The scope of work for the park area included clearing all overgrowth and debris, replacing the old sprinkler systems, regrading, surfacing-contouring and laying the artificial turf. The side strips were cleared, new watering system installed and replanted, rodent screens and new rock added to finish. This was a major project and we are so pleased with the results.
We highly recommend the company and the personnel that made this possible. A special thanks to David and Max for going above and beyond our expectations.
Hi Dan, thank you for the feedback. We appreciate your business and we appreciate the kind words!
They prescreen potential contractors vetting out irrelevant ones, process is smooth and they pay attention to your concerns and address them.we recommend them!

Thank you guys for helping me find the right contractor I was so happy with Mike's work and the way he treated me and my husband, they did an awesome job I am so happy that I found Texas Building Contractors
Hello Maria,
Thank you for sharing your feedback! We're happy to hear that you had a great experience with Mike and that we were able to help you find a contractor. We send our best wishes to you and Texas Building Contractors as you get started on your project!
We had a difference of opinion of services rendered:
As I gave an overview of my issue to Buildzoom and for them to indicate "premium payments are non-refundable after services are rendered" does lead me to believe that you had a better understanding of my "services" from BuildZoom. That is where we differ, because they did not fully deliver services as described in our project scope.
I had a choice of two other companies and chose your firm based on feedback, customer reviews, fact checking and my first interaction with *. After being punted from * to * team I still felt they understood my highest priority which was to get through the process in 45 days. They assured me that they could get that completed. Then they punted me to * and things didn't go so well with meeting with firms that your company recommended and provided. As stated before, Buildzoom did not do a good job of making sure those virtual meetings occurred on time and the quotes submitted for review and comparisons. I had the timeline of 45 days because I was very clear this was my top priority. Well we had reached 60 day at this point while she was trying to schedule firms and not showing up to begin those meetings and it was 1-2 weeks in-between those meetings being scheduled. I did complain to Trent several times about my timeline. At this point I went to the loan agent to extend my loan application. They agreed to give me 120 days but I told Buildzoom we have another 30 days. Which means you had a total of 90 days to get what we agree on earlier. Buildzoom did not meet that timeline either.
We only had one construction firm that submitted a legitimate proposal. We felt we had to go with that one just to get be able to meet the loan timeline. By the time we got that completed we had only 2 weeks left to complete the load paperwork and was told then that we needed to prequalify again; of which I could not produce paystubs because of my retirement. I would have redo a whole other process to get qualified again. We were so disappointed.

Hi Paul,
Our team was actively in touch with you over many emails back and forth with you over 6 months ago now. The last email we sent indicated on our end how we did complete all items in your project scope including sourcing contractors, bid revisions, and contract administration. We did not hear back from you after sending this email. For ease of access, I will outline again our response to you to try and clarify where we stand in your specific case.
One of our project managers thoroughly reviewed the calls we had with you and did not come across any specific instance of our reps providing a promise or guarantee that we would be able to complete this project on a 45,60, or 90 day timeline. We always hear out our customers and their specific requirements, and mention that we can always try to accommodate their preferences, however, this specifically is heavily reliant on the contractors we source and their timelines and availability. This also depends on where the property owner is at in their pre-construction process. In this case, we needed to get your plans completed for your specific lot.
Your payment for our premium service was for the work done to source and find you a contractor to complete your project, which we did. Our team reached out to 11 contractors in your area, with 1 ending up bidding. The contractors in BuildZoom's database are not employed by BuildZoom and therefore, we are unable to control how and when they conduct their own business practice. Looking back through some of our conversations throughout the project, the team clearly indicated to each other the timeline you were on. If there was no mention or no clear communication about this, I can see your side to this dispute. However, we showed consistency in our urge to get this project over the finish line. Our team was persistent in following up with unresponsive contractors in an attempt to speed things up. Furthermore, there were no stamped completed designs when we first began working on your project, which naturally added an additional layer of difficulty to accomplish this project by your deadline. To recap, this project in full, required designs to be curated and permitted, followed by our contractor bidding process.
All of this said, we did enjoy working with you, and again, if not already done, would recommend refreshing your lending with the institution you were previously working with. Also if you would like another recommendation, we suggest our clients contacting US Bank Home Mortgage (we provided you the contact info in the email).
Chris Beaudoin of TRINITY EXTERIOR GROUP LP did an outstanding job installing the storm doors I ordered from Lowe's. He was professional and a perfect gentleman and cleaned up after work was done. A
Although this was all organized through Lowe's I had his phone number from when he came to measure the doors. He ordered everything he would need to complete the job to assure it was done in one trip. Once Lowes contacted me that doors were in, I texted Chris, he got the okay from Lowes to schedule the install.
Once the doors came in Chris was already scheduled to work other jobs. I did not mind waiting a couple of weeks for a job well done. Better to wait then to have an inferior job. Yes, I highly recommend Chris and TRINITY EXTERIOR GROUP LP.
While it used to be difficult to find a reliable contractor for repairs to your home, I recently needed a handyman to do repairs both the interior interior & exterior of my home in Framingham Massachusetts, the chosen contractor Chis Lipski was excellent & can't imagine that I could have had such a positive experience without using Build Zoom.
They show up ontime. Communicate well. Do good work.
Thank you for your review! We're glad to hear that our team was punctual, communicative, and did great work. We appreciate your feedback!
I feel I could get clarification from project manager/ assistant project manager when I asked. I was hoping to be able to choose from 3 architects and 3 contractors, unfortunately only 2 were offered as contractors and the third architect was long distance and backed out. I believe there were a few surprises and the one was once I started working with the architect, BuildZoom would step aside for most of the process. Then once I signed with a contractor, my time with project managers is no more. I had hoped to be able to get recommendations on supplies and where to buy through my project manager as well as the contractor. I would have to add the person that led me to BuildZoom was entirely wrong in the proposed cost of my addition and changes, this may be lack of communication and or the whole scope of the project. I am easily paying 100,00.00, more than what she stated. I already had a number in my head and the project is above that, but within reason. Overall I am happy with both project managers I have worked with.
I've used BuildZoom for several projects and it's a helpful resource. We found a great contractor though them and he's been very responsive and professional.
I was offered different contractors to choose from and the one I picked really did a bang up job! I couldn't be happier with his work and will definitely choose this contractor again.
I was looking for contractor for my building project. Buildzoom seemed to be what I was looking for. They wanted 1500 upfront and they would send at least 3 contractors for my project. They put together a team to work with the contractor and per their service would work with the contractor to reduce any additional costs to the project. What a waste of money. They sent me two contractor, and two no shows. I called one the contractors who didn't show to ask why he didn't show. He told me there was never any follow up to him for location, time etc. That was it for me. A team that cannot do simple follow to ensure a meeting with contactor and customer was not worth any more money from me. I fired them. I wanted the money back for not getting me the required 3 contractor. However, they charged me $1500 before they fulfilled their obligation. I asked for my money back and no surprise, no response. You are better off not hiring companies like Buildzoom because they do not come through and very cavalier about their approach.
Hello Michael,
We're sorry to hear that you were dissatisfied with the Premium services. We’d like to address some of your concerns.
The first invoice you paid was $1250 for the non-refundable down payment (as outlined in the agreement you signed). The $1500 invoice you paid was for Contractor Bid Management. Our Premium services include sourcing contractors, collecting and comparing bids to unlock value engineering and save the property owner time and money, and administering contracts. We bill in arrears, meaning we bill you for services that have been completed. In your case, it was for collecting the contractor’s bids. We release the invoice and the amount is due upon receival of the first bid.
Our Partner Specialist reached out to 35 contractors in your area, and 5 of them claimed interest in your project. While we can't guarantee that all contractors will provide bids, we make a tremendous effort to reach out to these contractors and get their interest in the project. Receiving interest and bids from contractors is influenced by their availability, skill, and distance from the project. Also keep in mind that these contractors are not employed or affiliated with BuildZoom - we act as an owner's rep for property owners and use our database to help find local contractors. We are glad that you were able to meet with a contractor and receive a bid.
Regarding your claims about our team not following up with the contractor, we investigated internally and found that there is a mixup or confusion surrounding this. We have email correspondence with the contractor you are referring to on October 6th confirming the walkthrough, a 2nd email on October 18th, and a third on October 27th. We’re unsure why the contractor told you that they didn’t know about the walkthrough because it is clear from our end that we were in touch. We will be following up with the contractors and we apologize for any mixups or confusion.
We do our best to give recommendations, coordinate, and offer additional sourcing to find more contractors. In your case, you canceled the Premium services before we can offer to source more contractors for you. Doing so could have yielded you more contractors and more bids.
We hope this provides clarity on the situation and wish you the best of luck on your project.
In 2019, I was trying to build out an art studio for my first franchise and I knew very little about selecting contractors or doing a project of this magnitude outside of the small amount of help franchise HQ could do to help me. I found BuildZoom and found it to be an amazing service. They worked with HQ on the requirements and found me 3 different contractor bids to review and choose from. I only wish I had known I could use them to find an architect too for the entire project! They were super responsive and always helped me follow up with my contractor when I wasn't getting a response. They are also super knowledgeable about the whole industry so they are able to ask the right questions and get you fair prices as well as explain the whole process. Owning a small business is SO difficult with so many different things to navigate, but the people at BuildZoom at least made the buildout process so much easier. I paid for the premium service and for my $200k+ project, it was well worth the price. If I ever need a big construction project done again, I'd definitely go to them for help.
Bonafied did and excellent job for me and would call them back for more when needed. New roof and transplanted a five year old apple tree. Highly recommend.
I've never used BuildZoom but I will be giving it a try after the holidays. I will be getting my basement remodeled and will be going through BuildZoom.

Contractors
I am remodeling an out of state property and was looking for help to find a reputable contractor. My original expectation was to obtain some bids from recommended businesses and identify the best option, myself. After speaking with BuildZoom's sales associate, Sean, who informed me about the benefits of their premium service, I'm so happy I chose to utilize it.
I was assigned a Project Manager and Assistant PM, both of whom were a delight to work with, very responsive and always well prepared for our meetings. My APM, Jake, did a fabulous job of creating a work plan, meeting all due dates and was very flexible when I required changes. He scheduled all meetings with the contractors at my convenience and ensured we received bids in a timely manner.
It was clear that I really needed the expertise of my PM, Alex, when we received 3 bids with a price range of $78K. He was extremely knowledgeable in all technical aspects of the project and able to answer all questions I had regarding details of the bids. He successfully leveled the bids, made pertinent inquiries of each contractor to clarify their proposed work and thoroughly explained the contract details.
Both Jake and Alex contributed significantly to identification of the ideal contractor, negotiated more reasonable terms to the payment schedule and made excellent suggestions for moving forward successfully. This process was definitely much easier with BuildZoom's premium service and the help of these gentlemen than it would have been alone, even if I was local.
Robin L.
Hello BJ L.,
We evaluate contractors based on a lot of different criteria to determine if the contractor is the best fit for your project and how reliable they are. Things such as (but not limited to) the number of permits they’ve filed in their lifetime (and in the last 12 months), the number of jobs they’ve completed, the types of jobs they completed, the reviews they receive on different review platforms, the number of years they’ve been in business, their bid-to-hire rate, their licenses, and how responsive & engaged they are with both their clients and BuildZoom.
In most cases, we are not able to look at the personal history of the owner of a contracting business. However, if we find any recent legitimate foul play as it relates to their work as a contractor, we will not work with them.
Regarding only getting 1 contractor when you were looking for 4, we always work diligently to try to get at least 3 contractors for our clients. It’s not uncommon that we reach out to 80-100 contractors to try to get a client 3-4; however, we can’t control if a contractor decides to participate on a project. The most influential factors that determine whether contractors participate are the project scope and budget. If there seems to be a misalignment on what the Property Owner wants and the budget they said they’re willing to pay, then contractors won’t spend the time to check out the project and bid for it. Contractors can easily determine if there will be challenges with budget feasibility based on the project type and the budget proposed by the property owner. A quick example of this is that the average rate for a partial home remodel today is in the general range of $120 - $200 per square foot. If a Property Owner’s scope and budget come out to be around $95 per square foot, the remodel is likely not going to be possible, and a contractor won’t want to check out the job.
We are sorry that your experience with BuildZoom was not to your liking. We hope that this context helps shed some more light on the process; if you have questions or need any additional assistance you can reach out to us as customersupport@buildzoom.com.
