“Satisfied and employed.”

Sarah B.
5/5/15

I submitted my resume to dozens of jobs through this website, and although some of the replies I received back were marketing jobs that didn't match my original request, I also received many emails and phone calls for legitimate positions. Within a week I had two interviews every day, and now I'm happily employed. I searched on indeed.com for a month and never received a single reply, so I'm happy this website actually worked.

Look at all the negative reviews for this so called Job site. Add me to the list. I get several emails and texts a day, all very suspicious. It's hard to even delete your resume, as well as deleting your account. They are so shady. DO NOT TRUST THEM. I'm reporting them to the BBB. Their reviews on the BBB speak for themselves. Disgusting breeding ground for foreign scammers. Be warned.

Just don't use this site. The amount of scam texts, emails and phone calls for fake jobs is insane. Ever since I put my information on this website, it's been several a day. Save yourself the headache.

It was good back in its day, but so many changes made to website that did not need to be made. They could not just leave it alone! IT IS UNUSABLE! ABSOLUTELY UNUSABLE! Navigation is limited to a small window in the bottom corner. REALLY? Jobs are mostly junk and spam bs. A million instacart and jobs like that. It is as bad as monster is, which is pretty much the same load of crap.

This website attracts scammers. I posted my resume on career builder and with in 3 days I received 7 text messages/emails from scammers that would only do interviews through chat messages. I have yet to receive contact from an actual person that is looking to hire me. The messages/emails claimed to be from legitimate companies but were unable to provide a phone number to contact the company at. I completed one interview and they said they were going to send me a check in the mail for office supplies. There was no verification of age, new hire paperwork or any way to talk to an actual person.

Unless you like being called 30-45 per day, every single day, including weekends, from nothing but what my phone automatically marks as "spam" "medium threat" (some even come across as a high threat). They are all from the middle east and are calling from a call center. You can hear many other voices in the background talking to other poor suckers. Even after you take your resume down and take it off of view by potential employers, these scammers still call you. Soon I will have to change my phone number! Do Not, under any circumstances, apply, create a profile, or upload your resume onto this site!

This site is a breeding ground for scammers. You will be bombarded with text, emails, etc from bogus "jobs". I have applied to over a 100 jobs on this site and not 1 legit business or employer has contacted me. Career Builder seems to be doing nothing at all to protect the users of this site. You will frequently receive emails full of grammatical errors, request for pics of your drivers license, etc. It is unfortunate people cant even seek work without being made victims of scams like these. The scammers are dumb to say the least because why target people who 9 out of 10 are looking for work because they have no money.

One of the worst services ever. Career Builder and Monster.com might be the worst companies ever when it comes to customer support, or to anything, really. Terrible employee conduct, rude and short tempered, never get anything done, and I honestly do not understand how these companies make money. Either way, we moved away from them before they got a chance to scam us. I would advise you to be careful out there.

Tip for consumers:
Nothing, we've been trying to work with these guys for two weeks now, and they keep hanging up on me. You can try it yourselves, call these guys, ask for more information that they offer on the websites, and you will see how fast they will hang up on you and then block your number.

Products used:
Nothing, they disabled the account, they were so rude, and they ask for so many pieces of information, that it makes you wonder why, and what they might use it on.

Job scammers from fake caller ID numbers with fake job listings… assuming you can understand what they are saying. Ghosted and never hear back! Don't give your information! Blowing up my phone, not USA based. Wasted my time… several years. I can't even get my data removed after several attempts.
Good grief!

Do not put your email address or phone number anywhere on the site, or you'll get phone calls and emails from 'recruiters' about unrelated random jobs, IE, spam.
Wait, how can you avoid putting contact info on a career site? Aha... yeah don't use CareerBuilder it's trash.
Recommended jobs are also rubbish

If you're looking for a place to source candidates for your company, I would advise you not to use CareerBuilder. I've never been so dissatisfied with a vendor in my life. They refused to refund us despite knowing we were absolutely not happy a couple of days into our 3-month contract. It became really clear to me quickly that most of their clients were completely dissatisfied and they potentially didn't have a customer that could share a positive experience. The sales guy was nice but I do hope he finds a position elsewhere because it's a terrible company.

These guys are the worst. They have no customer support for their subcontracted employees, no contact information on their website (phone number/email address) and they really don't care about the staff they are hiring for large companies.
Every time you need to log into their employee portal (to check pays etc) you need to change your password.
It might take you over a month of delays before you get your first pay in your bank account and they do not care.
I would avoid them at all costs - unfortunately though, as an employee that is subcontracted to another company you will probably just have to be employed via whoever the large company uses.

Nonstop spam, repeated phone calls and texts from shady companies for jobs not even remotely close to my experience and background. Most have an Indian accent. Feels like they are just trying to get personal info from you. Deleting my account on CareerBuilder.

I wish I had read these reviews before using CareerBuilder for a job posting, but (expensive) lesson learned. First and foremost, they really do have absolutely terrible customer service. I called them for assistance with my posting, and was met by rudeness and complete inability or willingness to assist in any way. I did not get one response to three jobs that I posted for 30 days. I purchased the one time posting option for $299. There was nothing mentioned about this being a monthly fee, and there was no option to cancel provided at any time. So, Career Builder kept my credit card on file and proceeded to charge my credit card for another month with no advance notice. Unethical business practice to say the least. Will never use them again.

Stay away, unless your company has deep pockets.

Career Builder - Every single job offer I've had has been fraud. I have never and I mean never experienced anything like this from any other employment website. Far to excessive. Everyone has asked me to either give money or deposit a check for equipment from their private suppliers.

I submitted a few applications via CareerBuilder and was contacted by a number of scammers claiming to be hiring from legitimate companies. They used publically available names associated with the company to make it seem legitimate, but they asked for me to pay third-party vendors for something before I could begin to work at a company. REal jobs never have you pay any money before starting, never (MLM's are also not real jobs, but that's not what we're talking about now). CareerBuilder leaves its users vulnerable to this kind of scam by giving their data to unverified jobs. Please protect yourself and stay the hell away from this site.

I'd give them zero stars if that was an option. They send job alerts that are not even remotely aligned with my skills and job criteria. 'Are you interested in being a truck driver in North Dakota?' Uh, no.

As an update, I thought my spam stopped but instead, I notice it went into my spam box. My once clean spam box is now filled when it was untouched for years. And they're all the same job and recruitment emails that are repetitive, suspicious and give absolutely NO easy way to unsubscribe. Not only did the emails NOT stop, but they also have my full name on it too. So now these people also know my name. That's great. Thanks a lot, CareerBuilder.

More like SpamBuilder!

This website is so useless that I regret making an account here. I used Indeed.com prior and while I wasn't that happy with the results, at least they didn't give me spam. The second I made a CareerBuilder account, I received more spam, fake emails, and fake responses regarding work. I constantly get emails from recruiters, recruitment subscriptions where I have to unsubscribe, and emails telling me that I received positions to places I never even applied to.

This is beyond discouraging and harassment. While I acknowledge I gave my information to CareerBuilder, they are violating me and sharing my professional/business information with others and usually not legitimate places. Deleting my account immediately and I hope the spam stops. I can't believe this website was recommended by a college professor; which was the reason why I created it to begin with!

FYI: On the account deletion page, it states that if you delete your account, you can't use the same email address to make another account in the future. You'd have to sign up with a different email. That's so unheard of.

UPDATE: After deleting my account, those suspicious "job" emails stopped. I got maybe 1-3 of them the first few week, but after, they seemed to have stopped entirely. I hope it'll stay that way.

I am really not happy with Career Builders. 1) They send you jobs that have nothing to do with your resume or skill sets. 2) When you do click on something of interest, it takes you to another internet employment site that is collecting your information by asking for your email address and then they start sending you ALOT of junk emails. What a waste.

This site is OK they have easy application process interface, however it would not be the only place I would looking as there are numerous sites that provide other jobs than just CareerBuilder.com. I like careerbuilder.com but I would recommend using indeed.com as well as they provide an extensive job database

I was able to find job information, but many of the jobs seem to be already filled internally, or through some other means other than CareerBuilder.com.
Not to mention many of them just seem to help company and corporation HR departments by giving "employers" a lot of names and resumes, so if they ever get sued, they can claim that they "looked at many potential candidates" through their website, even though the position was probably filled weeks ago by someones niece or grandchild who did not even need to apply for the job.

On the outside looking in Career Builder seems as though it is a great site, but it really isn't. I apply to Admin jobs and all of the companies that call me for interviews are for marketing. The job positions are very misleading and clearly marketing and working as a receptionist/administrative assistant are two different things. I do not think that this site is very helpful at all.

I heard good things about careerbuilder.com. Then I became a member and decided that those things were all lies.

I signed up in high hopes of finding that perfect job. All I've found so far is a stack of emails in my junk folder trying to sell me on resume services and other things I don't need.

If you jump through all the hoops, I'm sure the perfect job is waiting for you somewhere on that website. I just worry that you'll pay so much in assistance fees that you'll need that job to get yourself out of job searching debt.

Let's remember that at least it's free to receive job notifications from CareerBuilder. The thing that annoys me is that you cannot specify that you only want to see jobs within a certain area.

I continually get emailed jobs that are 2+ hours away from my home and it's a waste of time.

Also, many employers have told me that when they try to look at my resume on CareerBuilder, it's formatted badly and is hard to read as it apparently doesn't look at all like the document I uploaded.

Another thing they need to do is remove jobs that are filled! It's extremely aggravating to go to all of the trouble of filling out an online app just to find out that the position was filled 3 week ago!

But... let's remember, it's still a free service and it doesn't cost anything to look!
