“Legit site, communication could be better”

Used cashstar for an IKEA gift card promotion, got $400 worth of GC with my Discover credit card. Got a confirmation email straightaway (Discover let the transaction go through but flagged it as potential fraud and temporarily restricted my account, I just had to approve it on an email they sent me). The bonus cards arrived about 5 hours later, and the main card arrive about 12 hours later. Now usually when you purchase gift cards on official websites, they arrive immediately. So, if that's not going to be the case, cashstar should make it abundantly clear in the confirmation email to spare their customers some (very warranted) consternation. From another thread on the same promotion, I can see that most if not all people got their gift card eventually, so this website is legit, but probably has some issues around processing times and communication.

I tried to purchase gift cards and received the following message: "Hello Galina, We have processed a refund for your gift card purchase(s) from order number #CND6KRTAUG. Any funds remaining on the gift card(s) at the time of the return will be refunded to the original method of payment. The reps at 800 number were completely useless. Not only I wasted time trying to make a purchase, now I have to wait a week before I get my money back.

Surprise! Another shady company doing shady business using customers money to fund their crappy business. Unfortunately when I tried to buy a Lululemon gift card on the Lululemon website I must have overlooked where it tells you that their e-gift cards are through Cash Star. So now, over a week later, my declined transaction is STILL being held by Cash Star…it took but minutes for the transaction to decline so why the funds have not been released is really pissing me off, especially now that I've reached out to the customer service team multiple times, and each time they tell me someone will contact me via email within only a few hrs. No one ever contacts you via email, so you call again, now this is your 3rd attempt at getting an answer, and they tell you the same old story. So I asked; what is the next step when no one contacts me? Well just play this same game every day over and over? Well apparently the guy didn't have the answer because he made quite the laughable attempt at pretending the phone was breaking up, I'm talking an elementary attempt at it, despite no issues with connection up until then. $#*!ing crooks

I purchased a QuikTrip $50 gift card for my daughter. She tried to use it and it showed a $0 balance. Good luck getting any response (not even an auto response) from the CashStar online form, and they list no phone number. I found their number in Maine and it does answer, but when you select "1" for customer service, it "transfers" your call then says your call cannot be connected and to call back later. Will NEVER purchase a cashstar gift card again.

Purchased a $10 Roblox gift card on their website. Was sent an email saying "unable to process your digital card order" but it still took the funds out of my bank account. Contacted thru support email & paypal email yesterday, still no response even though it says they've received my request. Judging by the other reviews I'm guessing they won't ever respond and in result I've been scammed. DO NOT BUY FROM THEM!

I bought E-gift cards from 3 different stores which were processed via CashStar. Unfortunately, rather than putting through the transaction as a purchase, they put it through as a cash advance which is then charged an instant interest fee as if you are borrowing money, from your bank. Additionally either the bank or CashStar tags on another fee for the card of at least $5 per card. I have bought E-gift cards from other stores that are not processed this way and incur no extra fees. Pathetic. Avoid anything linked to CashStar!

Tip for consumers:
People should be forewarned that if they purchase an E-gift card online for Sail or Lululemon or other stores (Holt Renfrew as well), the company which processes the gift card purchase is CashStar, which is a company that results in the purchaser paying additional fees, both interest and a "gift card" fee.

Products used:
I bought a gift card so it was a gift for someone, however I was not warned that because the retailer uses CashStar to process its E-gift cards, the gift was processed as a cash advance instead of a retail purchase. This automatically incurs an immediate interest fee from your bank and an additional card payment fee on my Visa bill.
It is unacceptable and not something that is made clear when purchasing the gift card.

I have my store receipt, I've gone to the store and they are unable to scan the card, I've called 6 phone numbers, I have the card, the activation serial number, everything except for a couple of crucial card numbers and half of the pin. I've spent well over an hour on the phone, been transferred everywhere, eventually rolled into starting over and customer care is unavailable and call later. The last call, I was rolled into a survey. I'm out $50.

Do your research before you decide to buy from a high end company that steals from people on a daily basis. The payment will say it declined but the money will still be removed from your account. Customer service does nothing but provide a scripted lie that they have to tell to everyone they talk to who had this same issue. You will lose out on money. I hope they shut this greedy business down one way or another. Somebody is going to sue. They can count their days. Especially if you're buying around the holidays or a birthday. Just forget it! Save your time and hard earned money that they don't work a dime for! These corporations are corrupt and steal from those who they know they can. Save your time people and look elsewhere! Mines is still pending but no gift card… LOL they're a joke and so is the CEO of this low down grimey place along with their workers.

They’re getting reported that’s for sure. I don’t care if I have to do it multiple times.

Credit card purchases of Cashstar gift cards were posted as cash advances not credit card purchases -and thus subject to extra fees and penalties. This is because service is outside of the country and they seem to be trying to avoid vendor credit card charges

This company legitimately robs you of your money when purchasing digital/electronic gift cards.
I purchased two $10 gift cards and one $5 gift card from Roblox, (they are partnered with Cashstar)
And while all three orders were confirmed, they were all unable to process. (2 emails per order)

This is the issue with this company, it charges you before the order even processes, and there's a good chance there's going to be a "processing error" anyway as said in Roblox Customer Service.
I did get a refund for all 3 orders eventually, but this company is practically fraud.
I have used a credit card and this is what happened, and it's not even letting me use my PayPal instead!

If I were you, I would rather just use GameStop or Amazon as an alternative if you are planning to purchase digital gift cards. My conclusion? CashStar is pretty much a scam.

Tip for consumers:
For the love of electronics, NEVER use CashStar, just go to GameStop or Amazon and buy gift cards there!
Customer Service Representatives at CashStar usually have really poor-quality microphones. (surprisingly considering they can't even sell one gift card or do business correctly)

You either get a full refund or no refund, it's a harsh 50/50 in my opinion (if you purchased a digital gift card)

I purchased 200 dollar gift card thru this shell company and got confirmation then immediately got notification saying I asked for refund I did not. I got now gift card that I purchased but they sure took that money. Their customer service is none existent. They are rude and won't help you. 5 days and it says still pending in my account so my card holder team can't dispute them. I have spoke to and escalated with multiple people with this scam of a company. Not one of them can help or have clue what is going on.

DO NOT USE THIS SITE! I REPEAT DO NOT USE. your playing with fire and might as well just light your money on fire instead.

I placed 2 $100 gift card purchases through Ulta which uses them as a vendor. They double charged me so in total took $300 and never distributed my gift cards. They say their sites are down for maintenance on Cyber Monday which is the worst possible day to have maintenance if this is legitimate. They don't respond to the online customer service and the phone line says they're down then hangs up.
I've tried to work through Ulta customer service but as this is an outside vendor, I will have to mark this as a fraudulent charge on my credit card as I did not receive the service I paid for & was double charged. They are either the worst run company or a total scam but I will never be buying a gift card from a company that uses CashStar as their gift card vendor!

Tip for consumers:
Avoid any company that uses Cashstar for Gift cards!

Purchased a gift card for Best Buy. Order processed and money held from my account then I received an email stating the order did not go through. I tried again, same thing. Now I have $1,000 deducted from my account with no gift card. Customer service is non-existent! How is this company still operating? And Best Buy customer service was just as bad or worse.

Placed an order for gift card and never received any information about the order. When I contacted Cash Star they told me no such order existed. Even after I sent them proof of payment that they took from my checking they refused to refund me. They told me to contact my bank. Terrible customer service! No apology or acceptance of blame.

Ordered a gift card for $#*!'s Sporting Goods several days before the recipient's birthday. Paid for the absolute fastest shipping they offered, which should've meant the card arrived in plenty of time. Turns out, my order took over a week to arrive (and arrived 2 days late) simply because they didn't get off their butts to PROCESS the gift card until 3 days after purchase. Not really sure why a company that specializes in gift cards is unable to get gift cards shipped the same day or the next day. First email to them about this issue was completely ignored. Second one was met with an indifferent "too bad so sad" kind of response.

Get a gift card in person and send it yourself instead of using this awful company

The bad reputation of this company is well earned! I've been two weeks trying to get them to resend a gift card for my granddaughter that, as acknowledged by their own system via email, could not be delivered. I had to replace this with an alternate gift for my granddaughter and want my money refunded. Guess what - they don't do refunds. No matter the reason!

Terrible terrible service! Shocked IKEA is dealing with this company. Will only cause IKEA bad reviews and very angry customers. Cashstar took my money immediately from my credit card, sent email confirmation of orders, waited 2 hours and nothing. Called Cashstar, lady said I would receive within 30 minutes. 10 minutes later I get an email from Cashstar saying unable to process my orders. But you certainly have my funds! And will now need to chase them for my money back. Called for an explanation, was given the "do to privacy" I cannot advise other than we cannot proceeds your order. What the hell is that suppose to mean? Rude and no information or explanation. Biggest scam in my opinion.

Tip for consumers:
Don’t...save yourself the hassle and Go to an actual store and buy a gift card. There available at many shoppers drug marts and convenience stores.

It just doesn't work. Want to purchase a gift card? Sure! You give them you're money (in my case through Paypal) and it... doesn't work. The website begins to load forever and on Paypal it just says that the payment has been authorized. I find it frankly astounding that is possible for a web service like this one to just... not function. I have tried twice and i am not the only one for whom this does not work.

Tip for consumers:
Do not use it, if you're planning on using Paypal to pay. I haven't tried card so i can't say if that works or not.

My son moved to his very 1st apartment in another city I purchased an Ikea gift card to help make it more his home. IKEA uses cash star for digital gift cards I called them and no help they could see I paid for a card and but could not tell me why it had not been issued yet. The response was basically keep waiting. Mind you at this point it has been more than 24 hours. I'll be working with my bank to stop payment

12-2-20: Ordered a Gift card as Christmas present. Received email saying will be mailed in 1-3 days... Visa charged 12-4-20.12-11-20: called to request status; Jose said it was in process to be mailed and I should expect it 12-24-20. Will be Too late to deliver... refund will take 7-10 days.
Unlike a reputable company, Cash Star claims your money before shipping product and has use of your money long after you cancel... and that is dependent upon A refund ever being processed!

Utterly useless and much of a scammer, this ''company'' just takes your money and goes on. I ordered a 10 dollar roblox gift card. They said the purchase is confirmed! Then another email went through saying that the gift card cant be processed, i tried contacting customer service, useless! Just made me go in circles. NEVER AGAIN, im very disappointed and curious just well because these companies let them scam us and do nothing about it.Its just that they had ONE JOB. Never again im reporting this company i hope they go out of business..

Ordered physical gift cards from roblox. Said they mailed them and gave "USPS" instead is a tracking number. They never arrived, and several weeks later I have contacted roblox about it but get no response. They stole my money.

Set up a group e-gift card for Home Depot through CashStar & had problems with contributions not being credited or payment denied. No good way to contact them except email which takes way too long for a response. Will never do business with them again & neither will the other contributors.

Very dissatisfied with CashStar service. In fact there is not a rating low enough for this company customer service. We made numerous calls regarding attempting to track down our order without success. They missed our delivery date and than expedited our order. They screwed up informed us they would expedite our order. Well a week late it still had not been processed let alone shipped! Mean while they had our money in their bank account. We attempted to cancel the order and get our money returned. Well that did not happen either as we continue to fight for our money or service. In addition, we paid extra money up front to guarantee the order and shipping. Attempted to talk with a supervisor and we were refused, none available. If you strive for mediocrity or do not care about your customers CashStar will take your money. It is a shame Giant Eagle farmed this service out to a company who cannot service their customers!
