I have a phone outage for three days now. A tech was supposed to show three days ago and didn't. Today I spent 2 hours on the phone trying to get someone to respond but I just keep getting transferred back and forth. Centurylink does not care that I'm losing business. Instead of wasting my time how about you actually show up to look at the problem or just admit that you are incompetent.
You know what imma just do what i said and look for another company its not worth me stressing over the late fee and having a seizure cause a billion dollar company wants my $18. Cause i made a type o on my payment that i have corrected soon as i notice
I live in Columbia, Missouri. I had two disconnections of my home internet in one month. When you call the tech support they transfer you to a tech service in Philippines and the only thing they advise is unplug/plugin. It took one week for them to reconnect my service after more than 10 calls and online chats I had to make..
The worst customer service of any company. Wait time to speak with a representative is 70-80 minutes. I have been without phone service for 22 days because they do not know how to repair it. It is not my phone or my phone lines but somewhere on the main line. They schedule appts and never show up after telling you to be home between 8-5 to just sit and wait for a tech to never show up. If you have an alternative please take it.
Our internet service has not worked for 3 days. The automatic answering service doesn't have an option to chat with a live person and not just an AI bot. It won't link my cell phone for update messages. When I connect to the AI bot it just keeps delaying the completion time with explanation.
Tip for consumers:
A working technician support number.

No internet due to fiber failure. Repair team then cut phone line so internet is still down. Tech failed to show up twice! We waited 12 hours today and got texts from CTL 3 times saying the tech was coming and chatted multiple times and were told The tech was on the way but no one showed. Meanwhile we are still being billed.

Avoid CenturyLink at all costs!!!!

Internet, phone not working
I was going to get internet service through CenturyLink.
Got all the equipment, set it up. Doesn't work. When I called, Centurylink's solution was to have me walk all over the house trying different phone jacks to "see which one the signal is coming through".
I asked, "Excuse me, are you telling me if the only phone jack the internet signal is coming through is in the bathroom or the kitchen, you expect me to move my computer there?"
"Yes, sir"
When exactly did the phone company (or cable company for that matter) start deciding which jacks could or could not be used for their services? I remember when if you wanted a phone, you had service turned on and you could plug your phone into any jack in your house (same with cable). Who are these companies to dictate where I put my television, phone, or computer?
Avoid, at all cost.
I have now spent about 10 total hours over three days trying to work out high speed internet with cyber shield. I keep getting transferred to other numbers and the representatives do not know what they are doing and transfer me somewhere else. I explain the problem and ask them not to continue transferring me and help fix the problem. This is the most incompetent group of people I have ever dealt with. I still have not resolved the issues and am getting ready to cancel them.

We lost our wifi Saturday afternoon & there is no tech or repair service available on the weekends! They are more than happy to increase you monthly service charge but they have no one on call for weekends! They sent out a message that they will work on it Monday. We have no TV or wifi for devices in the mean time. They are aware there is a problem, but won't address it. Our entire neighborhood is affected!
This company is literally the WORST. I've had multiple interactions with many departments trying to get help and they never have a clue what's going on. Miscommunications, wasting hours of my time, completely incompetent, slow speeds, absolutely awful. Avoid like the plague.

Good luck talking to anyone from the United States. They send you to a call center in a third world country with made up American names having a heavy accent and all are so incompetent! Be ready to spend at least 50 minutes to 2.5 hours on the phone with them wasting your life away. Did I mention you'll need to do this 2-4 times a month every year. I thought Ixfinity (Comcast) was horrible when I switched 12 years ago. I'm switching back to them hoping they've changed. You can literally get a heart attack dealing with Century Link. Good Bye Century Link! I gave 1 star because that's the only way you can submit a review by at least making a incompetent company have some good about it.
Tip for consumers:
Stay away from Century Link! Most incompetent and unethical internet provider companyy
Never had problems with Spectrum like this. Century Link saw I was uploading two large files and admits they throttled me. The first file was 6 gigs and went up fairly quickly.
The second was 12 gigs and 1/4 way in, the speed slowed from 5 mb/sec to. 002 mb/sec. I spend 2 hours calling their non-English-speaking outsourced liars and after resetting the account numerous times, and them asking all sorts of security questions to me, it was working.
Then I tried to upload again, and it was blocked.
I called again, got an American, and he was perplexed that I was being blocked. He adamantly said they do NOT throttle.
But when he changed the IP address it started to work again.
I never had this problem with Time Warner/Spectrum. These guys appear to be criminals. I'd avoid them.
I canceled CenturyLink today and went to a satellite company. CenturyLink has totally unreliable internet; the phone made so much background noise I had trouble hearing the person I was talking with. Calling them is a joke. "Your estimated wait time is 55 minutes." Hah. I waited more than an hour and finally hung up. They do not care about the customer or the service they offer. Stay away; even if you live in a rural area. There are alternatives.
Worst customer service I have ever experience! They make promises they do not keep to get you sign up. Typical bait and switch! Spent at least 50hrs helping them set up system VOIP PHONES and they still gave me the shaft on refunding my old system T1 internet and phone that took them 4 months to disconnect and not in use for 10 months@ $360 a month, to much stress with this company! Good luck getting any help from this big company! All we are is a number to them, do not expect anything less!
CenturyLink, has the most unreliable infrastructure imaginable. Our internet goes down on a monthly basis. It's always a huge hassle trying to find the right phone number or to chat with someone who can actually assist with getting a tech out to fix it. When they do fix it, it's always a bandaid fix that never holds for long.
My internet is down again! This time after calling several Disconnected numbers, I was able to get an Appointment for 8 days out! Told the woman that was unacceptable and she Hung Up on me!
Absolutely the worst company ever to deal with!
Their equipment is horribly unstable, the techs abilities are questionable, but the customer service is absolutely despicable!
If their was an another option for me to change service I would. But sadly I am stuck.
While I understand I live in a rural area and internet services could be very limited. We have a school less than 1/2 mile from us that has fiber through Spectrum. So why not go through them? Well, found out that there is an agreement between companies not to encroach on the others' "territory" so Spectrum, Cox, and other companies will not open up to us. And it appears that CenturyLink does not find this area important enough to expand in.! 990 era coax should be good enough. Thankfully Mr. Musk and his Starlink should be hitting the ground soon.
My bill started going up and my service started dropping. When I reached out for support I basically was told it is what it is! REALLY?! Ok, fine I will go elsewhere...NOW I can't even cancel my account! I have been trying for 3 days now and over 3 hours sitting on hold since there is no other way to cancel the account. CL you suck and you didn't used to!
I have been a Centurylink customer for years, too many evidently. My internet is out since December 22. I had a service appt scheduled yesterday between 8-5. Even received a text message confirmation. No show, no call, and now I cannot get another appt until 12/27. I guarantee I am going to have to threaten to get credit for those days. Customer service is horrible. They all have different lies they tell you, and one even guaranteed they would be there. Once fixed, I'm looking for another Internet provider. Worst company ever. Avoid them at all costs and save yourself a lot of grief.
Century Link chat is horrible. Our phone line is dead. The first and second chats promised repair but no one came. The third wanted to repeat the same stupid phone tests that I already did for the others then just cut me off. Her name was Geeta P. Horrible!
Tip for consumers:
The chat techs are really poor.

I only have one option for internet at my home - otherwise I would definitely switch (maybe I should sell my house). I have chatted with 15 different agents to get my account off of vacation hold and still they are transferring me - get and f****ing clue Centurylink!

This company not only cannot figure out their bilking and has tried to over bill me several times, they have now decided their $#*!ty internet is worth $10 more a month. Your company is greedy and corrupt. I love that you eliminated your loyalty department right before you made a change that you know would cause numerous customers to want to cancel their service. I hope you people get fined by the FCC and go out of business. If I knew where to find your CEO I would punch them right in the throat!
Been out of their service for over a month and they are always saying next week and solving the problem. They were sending their sales people to the houses while installing their service and now that we are dont have internet for over a month despite paying for the service they are not doing anything about it and rescheduling there visit week after week.
I will tell you that we have had them since they bought Quest. Overall, the internet has been fine, but suddenly, it started going in and out; affecting our Netflix and then the land line went out. The customer service is the WORST! My husband and I waited for 2 hours on hold on my cell phone since we had no land line. Finally spoke to someone that you cannot understand... then were told they "ran diagnostics" and it is our land line problem, which by the way, we are paying nearly 40.00 per month for surcharges, etc. We both have cell phones and are thinking to get rid of the land line. Now, we have had mostly no internet, no land line, I just spent another 45 minutes for on line chat and they just disconnected me. They are to be out 2 days from now to "repair" a land line that we don't even want anymore. My husband has fixed the brand new Century Link Modem which is why I am able to post this review. What is UP WITH CENTURY LINK?
I used to be their customer and since their service was painfully slow, I had to switch to a new provider. My policy was cancelling at anytime. I contacted them a month and half ahead and canceled the service and their agent made me sure that I am not going to get any extra bill. Long story short, I ended up in a $50 extra bill and negative score on my credit history by a debt collector. Horrible experience. Even a small business never treated me like that. Horrible people.
Ever since Century Link transitioned to Bright Speed, I have had nothing but trouble and absolutely NO help. They keep asking my if I am satisfied with the responses from customer service yet they are totally ignoring my pleads for help. I cannot open many secure e-mails and some emails to clients are being blocked. It has totally crippled my business. I am looking to replace them. Any suggestions are appreciated.
Centurylink is hot garbage but that's offensive to hot garbage. We are forced to have this provider at our location and it makes me want to move, that's how terrible it is. Customer service doesn't exist so good luck ever talking to someone. One star is too many
I signed up for the DSL service with Century Link in May, 2014 on a 1 year "contract" with a person who knocked on my door in a guarded community, which means he was trespassing. He told me that DSL was much better than the old days which was a lie. I ended up with a 3 mgb service that had little bandwidth. Had several issues with hook up and billing as well. I found it appalling that their employees actually wanted to argue with me, the customer. They never lived up to their end of the "contract" which called for "high speed" internet. I finally canceled the service in March due to aggravation. They sent me my "last bill' which calls for a disconnection fee and an early termination charge. Ridiculous. If I don't pay the bill what are they going to do, cut me off? I should have read the many terrible online reviews and told the salesperson I was having him arrested and charged with trespassing.
