These guys give opinionated-based answers on quizzes. It is a waste of money. Don't go for it. Students should stay away from it.
I subscribed to Chegg, sold by their ads for tutoring, and academic resources - like test banks and guided answers. All of them are useless. I am a STEM major at a competitive university, and their resources are almost always 100% incorrect. The ones that are correct, however, are not guided and they expect you to copy the online answers and turn it in. Also, they will work with your university to track you down via your banking info and IP address if you copy and cheat, so don't do that (word of advice). So, Chegg's online questions, are incomplete, with wrong answers. Let's try their tutors, shall we? I have tried to work on worksheet problems with their "accredited tutors" only to find them humbly admitting that they really don't know what to do and that Chegg pays them even if their answers are WRONG. Yes, Chegg does not vet their answers AT ALL. Chegg is only useful to people who think they can get away with copying answers that show work, and may get them partial credit. But, they also track every single click on your account and will turn over all the info they have on you, like IP addresses, and banking information to the universities if asked. This ensures that whatever you do on Chegg, whatever is viewed, even specific questions, comments, etc. will be viewable by your school's judicial services. This is one of the "third parties" that Chegg will share your information with, if asked. At my school, the judicial officers regularly comb through who viewed any posts on Chegg pertaining to anything worth credit in a class since that does constitute cheating. In my opinion as a pre-med undergraduate at a competitive UC, Chegg is a waste of time and money.
The website prompts you to reset your password when you log in for the first time in ages, and I found that upon changing my password, there is NO security used whatsoever, you can literally just change the password whenever you want for any account as long as you have the email address, no single-use security code or anything. This means if someone gets their hands on your email address, which is stupidly easy to do, they can access your previously submitted payment details for free. Which also means, that if they wanted, Chegg could just look at the email accounts stored in their database and change customer passwords whenever they please and perform transactions on Chegg using their payment details. What makes this even more suspicious, is that there is no option on the website to cancel your account, and the only way to change your email address is to contact "customer support". I'll say it again to be absolutely crystal clear, ABSOLUTELY DO NOT ADD PAYMENT DETAILS TO CHEGG, AND DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THEM. This entire website, though it technically does provide services for your money, 100% is an elaborate scam.
Edit: I have just realised that the scandalous aspect can only be achieved if the scammer has access to your email account as well, so it isn't as unsafe as I'd initially thought, but still VERY unsafe. If someone manages to gain access to your email account they would immediately be able to do all the things I stated earlier.
VERY bad service. They charged me $200 dollars without my consent for a rental that was a few days late. DO NOT rent from them!
I had sold two used books with Chegg.com and had a really great experience with them paying me quickly and paying what they said they would. The amounts were fair and more than what my school's bookstore would. After that positive experience I figured I'd buy the books I needed for my next classes used from them expecting a positive experience as well. I've never been so wrong.
The first book arrived in absolutely horrid condition. It was torn inside and out, had flecks of dirt inside the covers, writing throughout the book, and I honestly didn't even want to touch it. I contacted them regarding the book condition and they said they would send another and offered a 10% discount on my next purchase. I was pleased with the customer service and waited for the next book.
The next book arrived and had a gaping hole in the front, still torn, and had what appeared to be water damage through about half thickness of the book. I again contacted customer service, pointing out how demanding they are of the quality of used books they send and how disappointed I was with now two books they had sent. They offered 50% off my purchase price and to send another book. This is all good in idea, except I now would have to take the time to drive to a UPS center to mail out the two terrible books to return them (since they do not pay for pickup service), which is at least a 20 minute drive for me, but I still gave them a chance.
The third book arrived today and I am just so incredibly disappointed in them. Once again there is writing throughout the book and an unacceptable level of tears that they would never accept had they received the book as a used book sold to them.
I'm done bothering with attempting to get a decent quality book and just won't be returning to them for future service. It is incredibly disappointing to say the least.
Use Chatgpt they are way more precise and better and who pays 19 dollars for tht bs I just want chef to know if I could give y'all 0 stars I would f all of y'all
I'm beyond done with this company. I couldn't find a place to sell by BRAND new textbooks to so I used Chegg because their prices seemed reasonable since my own school wouldn't give me hardly any money back for them. I sold a bunch of textbooks back and received the checks; however, I was missing money. I looked back at my account and it showed one book was still "in transit" even though I shipped them all together. After being on hold for a long time I finally got in touch with someone. They said well, they marked your book as being in "poor condition" so you have two options: donate it or we can send it back to you. I said well first of all, that book was brand new. I never even opened it because I didn't end up needing it so I know for a FACT it was NEW! I told them yes they need to send my book back. A week or so went by and I finally received by book. I open it up and it wasn't even the book I sent them. It was a completely different book and on top of that it was a complimentary copy that wasn't for sale. I called them back and now I have to resend the wrong book in order for them to send me back the correct book. I'm so fed up! All I want is my money back! I'm sick of wasting time with this company and having to send books back and forth.
I made the mistake of going to this website for help with my programming homework, that was a mistake. Firstly, you are able to freely view questions without an account, but you must make an account to view answers. After making an account, it will not let you view answers or use the website unless you pay a monthly subscription (your choice of $15 or $20). Nowhere on the website does it say "You must pay to use this service." It acts like it's free until after you make an account.
If you want to cancel your account? Good luck. I tried cancelling it immediately after realizing they were trying to get money out of me, and am unable to do so. I get stuck in an endless load screen, error messages saying "Try again later", being bounced from one screen to another, being "timed out" after 5 seconds, and so on. Thankfully, I used an email I only use for questionable websites, so it isn't linked to my banking information or anything of that sort, but good luck cancelling to anybody who HAS given them money. If it's this hard (maybe even impossible) to cancel my FREE account with them, who knows how hard it will be to cancel an account that you linked your banking info to.
Don't use this service/business. There are loads of free options, (Khan Academy being the best, IMO). I would trust Quora or Yahoo Answers sooner than I would trust this site. -10 out of 100.
-Edit: I wish I had looked into this site 20 minutes ago. According to the Better Business Bureau, Chegg.com has had 500 complaints in the last 3 years (likely in relation to refusing to cancel subscriptions), 120 of those in the last 12 months alone. The FTC brought forth a complaint against them in 2022 for data breaches that exposed millions of users' data, including social security numbers, emails, and passwords. They were storing information in the cloud unencrypted. They were apparently also cited for not allowing people to delete accounts and were ordered to do so, but from my experience, they are still not complying with this.
If you've read this novel so far and have made an account with this company -- change all your passwords. If you paid for an account with a credit card and they are refusing to cancel it, dispute it with your CC company, and file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Best of luck, all!
Whoever wrote the answer just used my question and didn't answer it. AND they begged me to like it so that they can get a small benefit from it. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE!
Analyzing plagiarism takes far too long, and the results aren't always accurate. In the end, it was of little use.
They're for real just bull$#*!ting us expecting us to believe answers on homework are worth a 15$ Monthly subscription.
They did not asked if i wanted to continue to be a member of the site and they just took 30 bucks in total! WHAT A WASTE OF MONEY! WORST WEBSITE EVER! YOU WILL NOT FIND ALL THE SOLUTIONS AND ANSWERS!
I had good experience. I have been a customer for 3 years. Good customer service. Refund policy is great. Will recommend. 5 stars if much cheaper.
They literally suck worst waste of money ive ever spent. Literally cancelled it after 1 min of seeing what i bought, very misleading pieces of $#*!
By the time you actually get help of any sort, the assignment will no longer be relevant. This was definitely a waste of time and money.
They keep billing and straight up lie! Do not give them your info this is the worse academic site I've ever used!
So, Chegg is notorious among college students, and professors are frankly lazy, which is why this site exists. I say they're lazy because hundreds of schools use the exact same homework in each course. The issue comes into play with the answer accuracy. It's awful.
I paid for this service last year during midterms to help me with some of the busywork. Turns out the textbook questions and answers were only 70% correct. This is awful, and for $15 per month, no way. This was consistent in multiple textbooks. My chemistry textbook was the exception, but questions were still not accurate, erven if they did create a valid framework to work off of.
And here's a big dinger on the questions. You can vote on how helpful the answer was. A question answered FOUR YEARS PRIOR had 200 downvotes and 10 upvotes and is still there as the only answer and advertised as available. Stay away.
Customer support is where it takes another bad turn; absolutely no refunds for any reason. Couldn't get the money back from my bank either because technically their terms of service to explicitly prevent refunds, but if you can't use the service, then they should give you your money back.
Stay away; yahoo answers was surprisingly more helpful.
As a long-time user of Chegg Homework Help, I am extremely disappointed and dissatisfied with the recent changes to the website and the overall level of service provided. My experience with the new website design has been nothing short of frustrating, characterized by malfunctioning features and poor usability.
Website Design and Functionality Issues
The new website design is not user-friendly and does not function properly. Navigating through the platform has become a cumbersome task, with features often failing to work as intended. The overall user experience has significantly deteriorated, making it increasingly challenging to find and access the necessary study materials and resources.
Ineffective Customer Service
Attempting to seek help from customer service has been an exercise in futility. Long wait times coupled with unhelpful responses have only added to my frustration. Despite reaching out for assistance, I have been met with a lack of viable solutions to the issues I encountered while using the platform.
Lack of Compensation for Non-Functional Services
Furthermore, there is a distinct lack of compensation for services paid for that do not work. Despite paying for reliable access to study materials and academic support, the platform's inefficiencies have left me without the benefits I rightfully paid for. The absence of any form of reimbursement or compensation for the subpar services provided is simply unacceptable.
Incoherent Support
Additionally, the lack of communication and coherence among support agents has been evident. It is disheartening to experience a disconnect between different support representatives, leading to unnecessary repetition of issues and a lack of efficient problem resolution.
Ineffectiveness of AI Help Bot
The AI help bot, which should ideally provide efficient and relevant assistance, has proven to be equally ineffective. It merely regurgitates the same advice as the human representatives, offering no additional value or innovative solutions.
Conclusion
Overall, my experience with Chegg Homework Help has been marred by the new website's design flaws, unhelpful customer service, absence of compensation for non-functional services, incoherent support, and an unimpressive AI help bot. I am left feeling deeply dissatisfied and disillusioned with the platform's deteriorating quality of service. It is my hope that Chegg Homework Help takes these criticisms seriously and works towards rectifying these issues to restore its reputation for providing reliable academic support.
There's no more active tutor now compared before I tried to post question last week and until now there's no tutor is helping me doing my homework...
Answer: Half real half scam wil work for a day or 2 then lock you out
Answer: The monthly money is for an additional service. You can opt out of it at the time of your order. Supposedly. Check other reviews. Many of them say they were still charged after canceling the service. My best suggestion is to stay away from Chegg if at all possible.
Chegg has a rating of 1.2 stars from 457 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Chegg most frequently mention customer service, credit card and free trial. Chegg ranks 106th among Textbooks sites.
