We looked at a total of six different possibilities, and we worked through that fairly carefully and determined that Clarity was by far the best of the options, both in pricing and in terms of the experience that they had with regard to our global business needs.
I think the goal actually was to be the best of the e-commerce operations. And bear in mind that when we first began with this in 2014, early 2015 e-commerce was just beginning in Africa as we built along a bit Jamaica became both successful and growing fairly rapidly. So although we started out with the idea that we didn't have any direct competition, we quickly had one in several different African countries. What we wanted to make sure was that people recognize that if there were more than one or two e-commerce platforms, one of them would be Go Africa. We were also named the best B2B e-commerce platform for 2019 in Kenya.
It originally started with me looking for a vendor that could help me figure out why we couldn't attract new talent. Clarity quickly figured it out and put a plan together that was not only successful, but it blew up and made our business grow much faster than we were ready for. So I had them help us with the growth, designing and building additional portals and tools to be able to manage our growing employees and patients. They helped us with the growth, that ultimately helped create more revenue than we even dreamed of. As above, it started with SEO, a website, then an employee portal, an LMS integration, HR integration, colleague recognition portal, and 20 other projects over the course of ten plus years.
What I like most about Clarity's Solution is that all the features and functionalities for our project worked. They all did what we wanted them to do. Again, it kind of goes back to the style of working and being able to roll up my sleeves and get in and work alongside the developers. All the developers I worked with, the entire team at Clarity, whether it was the graphics designer, front-end developers, back-end developers when we needed them, the account manager, the executive team, basically everybody at Clarity was awesome. The LDR medical education programs that we had was most definitely where we saw some huge problems that needed to be addressed. The Clarity portal facilitated the process to the point where we almost got overwhelmed regarding the program's effectiveness and setting up programs using their new solution. The challenge we had before was that we were working with a global salesforce who, as we all know, is always very eager to move fast with their customers and get things done for them so that they can really build those relationships. But there were some legal constraints out there dictating how these types of programs can be developed and implemented. The solution that we did with Clarity, which is entirely custom, allowed us to kind of stem the flow of the sales spontaneity if I want to call it that, of short-circuiting the process or trying to get things done in a way that may have actually been either illegal or borderline unethical. Not that that was a conscious thing on their part, but it was something that could easily happen under the scrutiny of the medical device industry as governed by some of the regulated agencies. So it was definitely a program that allowed us to be very efficient but help enforce compliance. We managed the signup process, which was extremely complicated and had regulated prerequisites for each step that needed to be done and handled before surgeons even got on a plane to come to a lab somewhere.
