“Ripoff, abusing people wanting to connect, they are a disease”

Mike P.

Oh friendly until they get your CC info then it's over. Obscure directions to cancel which leads you to a screen that they ask you to select auto renewal to cancel which you just selected auto renewal. These people are the low of the low. I have dealt with blatant thieves before, the only thing they are missing is a gun in your face. Please people avoid at all costs or join the herd trying to stop them from robbing you blind. As several others have stated in reviews now I go to bank and either stop payments at $35.00 per month or change account numbers to stop this nest of rodents Mike P Texas

“Blowing Smoke Up My...”

I was OK with the site and have been a member for a few years, but things have changed. Why they have to continually change the format and add/remove features is beyond me - but maybe it simply justifies their overpriced fee. They changed things and I cannot post as I had in the past. Under "NOTES", it shows I have 5,000 characters available to post what's on my mind - typically life's update. The change only lets me type 200 characters and it stops. I have contacted the help people 4 times about this and I simply get a follow-up email each time from a different person stating they are working on it. I think it has been near 3 months and no resolve - just a generic response just like the ones I see here from Classmates. Sorry to disconnect from some class mates, but the subscription is too much for what I use it for and the IT department hasn't a clue on how to fix a program issue - one they surely made when "upgrading" the site to provide me with a better experience. Does anyone know what "less is more" or "keep it simple" means anymore?

They auto bill you without any clear notifications. When you go to stop it they tell you it's too late to get a refund.

When it started in 1995, it seemed like a good place to find friends from schools. That ended in 2015, when it was acquired by PeopleConnect, which uses Classmates.com to generate subscriptions for its other company Intelius.

Here's the user experience: You enter your schools, and they will display the classmates from your years there. The problem is that Classmates does not have your classmates in their database unless those classmates have registered on classmates.com. I listed 5 of the schools I attended and less than 2% of my classmates were in the database.

You can do an extended search for unlisted classmates, and it returns "0" results, with prominent CLICKBAIT to "find them using the Intelius service". You will wait at least 5 minutes while watching progress bars telling you that the service has found them, and compiling their criminal record, family members, residences, financial history, social media. AFTER 5 MINUTES OF WAITING, you get a screen to sign up for Intelius subscription service.

THAT IS THE REASON CLASSMATES IS STILL ONLINE, TO SERVE AS AS CLICKBAIT FOR INTELUS.

CLASSMATES.COM IS USELESS, and is FULL OF OTHER 3RD PARTY CLICKBAIT under every button, and on all sidebars, and pop-ups. If they ever get your email, they will bait you weekly with "one of your classmates says hi"

Claims you can find classmates you potentially know but then hide them behind a paywall. It's impossible to find anyone.

I had canceled this account more than once. They finally stopped sending me emails but continued to charge my credit card. Insisting that they stop is ineffective. I was forced to cancel the credit card and open a different card to get the billing to stop. When I decided to forward a complaint I was not surprised to see the terrible rating and multiple people who had similar experiences.

There are a disturbing number of companies who scam internet users and this one is among the worst. My strong advice to anyone is DO NOT OPEN OR ENGAGE WITH THESE PEOPLE.

THE COMPLAINTS ARE ALL SIMILAR. ANYONE WHO AGREES TO OPEN AN ACCOUNT IS SCAMMED AND STOLEN FROM.

I will file a complaint through the credit card. At a point, the process is so time-consuming that most people just give up because it cost more to file the claim than you could recover.

I am a busy business owner. My time is valuable and taking the time to write a long and complicated complaint will cost me. The best thing I can do is warn any potential subscriber; you will have money stolen from you by these people. Stay away...
My name is Patrick Kelly, I graduated from Rummel High School in 1974.

Tip for consumers:
DO NOT AGREE TO SIGN UP. these people are thieves. when I decided to make a complaint I was not surprised to see that all of the comments and complaints were the same as what I experienced. Total dishonesty. RUN AWAY

Products used:
this is a service that collects data from high schools and shares contact information. the program is worthless. I received emails frequently but nothing of any value was produced. the emails were just up-sell offers. I canceled the account at least three times, but the company continues to bill me. I was forced to cancel the credit card to stop the billing.

They truly know how to lure teachers in with affordable classroom supplies and decor that other places and sites don't provide, but I was truly blindsided by my experience with my online purchase. I had shopped many times at the Evergreen location, but with the craziness of summer tutoring and being away most days, I figured that the online shop would be a convenient option. First off, the delivery selection is 5 mile delivery/pick up. You place the order, but the site DOES NOT mention which one they'll do. To be sure, I called the location and asked them which of the 2 options will they provide. I received a quick response: whichever you prefer is the one we'll do. I was very satisfied with the answer and simply stated that I would pick up the order, that way I could grab any other supplies I may potentially need. They promised to give me a call "in a few days" when the order was in. Six days later, I called in once more to check the status of my order since their online website does not allow any order tracking. The woman who answered claimed she did not know how to even check that and when the woman in charge of online orders would be in the store "in a few hours," she'll "give [me] a call." Again, satisfied with the answer, I hung up the phone and waited for the call. It was that same day that I heard from another teacher that she had placed an online order last school year and never heard back nor received the product. Nervous, I reached out to the store that same week (3 days later) to check the status again. They took my number down, telling me I will hear back from someone soon. Once again, the phone was silent on their end. The next day, I took it upon myself to go over to the store and ask for my order. The cashier called for a worker from the back room, who came out and claimed that they carried multiple of the items I ordered at their Downers Grove location. I told her I would be more than happy to drive out there and get my merchandise, to which she quickly responded with, "Why would you do that? The owner lives out here, she can bring it by when she comes back home." Again, they took my number and promised to call me later that day. I never received a phone call, and at that point, I knew I was scammed/robbed. I understand that this is a busy season for teachers and teacher stores, but the least they can do is tell me when my products will come in, IF EVER. Three days after my in-store visit, I filed for a claim with my bank and the money was issued back to my card. The company then had the audacity to email me saying that my products were in-store and ready for pick up. I NEVER received a phone call or email to tell me that they were there and I can GUARANTEE that I never would have seen those products.
As excited as I was to support a small business, I never will step foot in that store ever again. Way to take advantage of teachers--the one career that makes little to no money to begin with.
