I was disappointed by the interactions and outcomes with Mr. Benjamin Crossley, the sole proprietor of CMBCWebDesign and retired English teacher. I was shown references and given promises that the design would be consistent with my vision. But, it was not. Not at all. He can use the technology. But, the design was horrible. Perhaps it is a matter of taste, but I am paying and then it is quite a lot to do with my taste - not Mr Crossley's. I don't want to spend time arguing with a retired English teacher about my own specific objectives or what my target audience is. I did not hire a marketing consultant. There are two problems here: a lack of design competence and an argumentative nature. When I noted that there were too many colours and that there was no focal point, he argued back. Repetition can be a useful idea, but not when the design being repeated is that. In any case, I was clear that there should be no text. When I pointed out that text was not in the job-description at all he said he had used "proper artistic initiative" and that it was a "technical" decision. It is a serious-enough research site and not a site for Mr Crossley's possibly inebriated ideas. It is not play time when the task concerns other people's money! I can only speculated that he is an erratic person, who turns out work of very variable quality.
