Hello friends and to anyone reading this. I started of in this app for not so long but do beware of this person. He claims to be a born in Hong Kong who was adopted by British parents at the age of 2-3. He has lived in the UK all his life and he was in Hong Kong for business and decided to move back to Hong Kong to start a new life. He claims to be an architect engineer and he works freelance. He will start talking to you about how he wants to be back in Hong Kong and wanting to settle down within a very short amount of time. After, he says says that something bad happen: a building he designed collapsed in Cyprus and he needs to get there ASAP before his client releases the bad reviews of his work. He will send the itinerary and details going to Cyprus. After the nightmare came, he claims he was in a fight with his clients and his passport was taken from him. His clients came to a negotiation with him to pay a penalty of ******* pounds and he will be able to leave. He claims that his online banking in the UK has not been rectified yet and he was having problems with it. To make it worse he lost his wallet with all his important cards and documents. He was able to find a lawyer working at the British embassy in Cyprus and his lawyer helped him pay for part of the money. He begged me to send him money through Western Union and he promises that he would pay me back.

I have deleted him and also blocked him from WECHAT. His we chat is: morganchan500

A week ago i went on Coffee Meets Bagel again and i came across someone with almost the same profile and that he was working in Hong Kong for 2 weeks and would like to go back to Hong Kong and settle as soon as possible.

Beware of these profiles where they claim to be born in Hong Kong and adopted by British parents!

I have to agree with many of the reviews below. This site has an incredible amount of scam profiles on it.

In the past I did meet some good people when the app was new. I was never approached by fake people. Then right before I went off the people started becoming fake. I thought it was because I suddenly hit an age where people deemed me desperate as a female or something. I never was approached by fake people on a dating site before.

I met someone (not from coffee) so I was gone for a little over a year. Now I gave it a go again and it is even worse than before. Literally almost everyone that I connect with is sketch. I don't consider myself desperate or bad looking but I just get so many fake guys. I try to sift through them and I managed a real date or two since I have been back but seeing75% of my matches as being fake.

Note: 75% of them are fake after I made a conscious effort to avoid fake ones.

It probably would be even more. Even one of them tried to call me at 2:30AM common.

I absolutely do not have this issue on any other platform. You would think they would create a system to make their site safer and more trustworthy.

Things to watch for:

1) Schools of scammers are usually weird if it's a really school they will write NEW york university instead of NYU, or in some instances their schools aren't even colleges a couple were high schools. Or the school is random and is not a school their noted profession would likely attend.

2) They always are not currently in the city or list a job that enables them to travel. I'm sorry but who lives in Manhattan and has an oil rig job. No we don't have that here, and if we do it's probably insanely rare.

3) They love you too quick, they write they are looking for love in their profile.

Be careful on this site guys. Sad I loved it when it first came out. I had a lot of good dates.

Beware of scammer
April 15, 2019

I chatted with Terry Peter Wong, age 43. His profile location stated as Singapore, however, he claimed to live and works in oil and gas industry in Texas.
His parent died in Hurricanes years ago, very close to his grandma. He plans to bring his firm to Singapore and settle down while the oil rig is in Indonesia.
He suggested to continue the chat via WhatsApp only. He will daily greet me good morning and good night but never talk on the phone.
He stopped me to use CMB app as he became jealous over I am chatting with other men.
When he reached the oil rig in Indonesia, handphone is not allowed in oil rig. He begged me to download Hangouts and blocked me WhatsApp immediately after we started our first sentence start on Hangouts.
I managed to find out by questioning him what happened to his WhatsApp, his photo ID was removed and message was read when his phone was left in the hotel while at the same time he was texting me using palmtop in oil rig. His answer was his WhatsApp always read by itself.
He given me his fake bank account (uniontrustbn.com/asp/) without my consent. He kept begging me to assess into his bank account to check on deposit from his business partner and make online bank payment transaction to his supplier with only a drafted quotation as supporting. He given excuse that his palmtop can only use hangouts as no internet browser was pre-installed.
He also persuaded me to write email to his supplier on confirmation of purchase. I checked the name of beneficiary on internet and the company does not exist.
I am not an employee of his firm and not related to him hence refused to follow his instruction.
I had blocked his handphone number and Hangouts now.

Be aware of Scammers!
August 31, 2020

All scammers trying to rip you off. This dating site is an absolute scam from the beginning to the end. When you use the free version the site matches you with the "best" profile to attract your attention to make you sign up. Once you sign up the matches are absolutely different from what you've set up for and 90% of the guys who sent me messages were scammers trying to get money in iTunes Gift Cards or Cash App. Be aware! They are professionals in emotionally manipulate people. They copy and paste romantic poems and info about any topics you are discussing with them. I mean everything from what they thing about loyalty in a relationship to who should do the chores in the house. They used a NonFixed-VoIP phone number, google hangouts, and stolen pictures and short videos from the internet, usually a Skype video call that last about 15-20 seconds. Do not fall for it! It's not them, they play a recording. Before anything, check the validity of their email, do a reverse photo check, and check their phone number. If it's a VoIP number forget it, it's a scam! Last scammers named Joe Bennett, successful engineer from Jacksonville, parents died, ex-cheated on him with her ex-boyfriend and was with him just to rip off his money, gets deployed to Samara, Russia to train employees from a sister company. Tells you that can't call or video call due to the company security reasons. Different from the others, writes proper English, makes nice questions such "babe, do you hold grudges or forgive quickly?" Or "If you could trade lives with anyone who would you choose?. He's also into donate money to charity, orphans... tells you he's thinking long-term with you, that is completely in love and suddenly (6 weeks mark) finds a way to bypass the security code to make a video call of 20 secs. No audio. Fake clipped video stolen from the internet. Then the next morning he tells you he's in big trouble that the video call had exposed the company's location, that a colleague has lost his job once bc of that, and that he needed money to by a signal tracking device to clear him up. He doesn't have money because he donated to the charity and he doesn't have access to his account. Asked $550 to be sent through Cash App. When I confronted him he is a scam, he denied and was all emotional about putting his job on the line etc... That's the end. Please be mindful that theses pictures are not who he is but pictures stolen from the internet. If you know this person (guy) please let him know scammers are using his photos to scam women around.
