I received the kit within a week of my doctor ordering it. It was very easy to use and the instructions put in simple terms. It was also easy to return the sample.
ColoGuard is a scam. Sounds great: you send a stool sample in a cup vs. undergoing a more intensive colonoscopy. The problem is that ColoGuard isn't accurate. Another problem is that many insurance companies will not allow subscribers to get another test the same year or even up to a 10-year period if they have had a ColorGuard test. Skip this test, get a real colonoscopy and take care of your health. This is just a scam to help insurance companies keep more $ from premiums: it's an excuse for insurance companies not to cover colonoscopies. The fact that ColoGuard doesn't provide any helpful data (e.g., if proteins or blood is found) demonstrates this is not a serious test. I won't be surprised if there is a class action lawsuit in the future for ColoGuard. For now, whoever cooked up this scheme is laughing all the way to the bank. And don't believe their nonsense that a colonoscopy is covered after a positive ColoGuard test result--it's not true. You are basically giving up your right to a covered colonoscopy (normally a wellness benefit that is 100% covered) by getting this ridiculous test that is often inaccurate and doesn't provide any health info whatsoever.
I spoke to two people that said Medicare will not cover my test because I am just under 50. The doctor thinks I need to get tested. I have a primary insurance before Medicare and they want me to fill out a paper stating that they will Bill Medicare first and if they do not pay it I am responsible for it. I stated that I have a primary insurance and Medicare is secondary multiple times but they still want me to fill out that form. They then said we will Bill your primary insurance first then Medicare. I asked them or why did you just say a second ago that you will Bill Medicare first? They insist that I feel that form out stating that Medicare well tonight and I have to pay out of pocket. I told them the only paper I'll sign is if you send me one that states my primary insurance will be charged first then my secondary being Medicare and they will not do it. I do not trust these people at all. That's amazing how their stories changed multiple times within a couple minutes. Will definitely let my provider know
Tip for consumers:
Don't trust them. Only interested in taking your money

I know that some are upset but this test was recommended by my doctor and friends and it turns out good, i get a positive result and it matched with the colonoscopy.
THE LAB FOR COLOGUARD KNOWS IF THE RESULT IS POSITIVE FOR BLOOD OR FOR CANCER DNA.
BUT, THE TEST RESULTS WILL NOT DIFFERENTIATE! That is a LIE by Omission! If the result is positive for blood, which can be caused by harmless, low water consumption, they won't tell patients. They will make patients anxious by not being transparent, and patients may decide to do a colonoscopy based upon anxiety instead of logic! THAT IS UNSCIENTIFIC AND UNACCEPTABLE. Cologuard is making profits in an unscientific way!
THE NEXT TIME YOU WALK YOUR DOG, USE THE CONTAINER PROVIDED BY COLOGUARD, SO THAT NOTHING GOES TO WASTE! It would be interesting to see if cologuard can differentiate between human cancer dna and dog cancer dna!
AVOID COLOGUARD, COLONOSCOPIES, AND ALL OTHER SCREENINGS EXCEPT BY A TRUSTWORTHY DOG, WHO CAN SNIFF FOR CANCER MORE ACCURATELY THAN DISHONEST HUMANS!
My family doctor advised me not to use this test. In his experience, too many of his patients got false positive results from the test. I was determined to have the test and was lured by the idea of not having to go through a colonoscopy. But that is ONLY if you get a "negative" result. If you get a "positive" result, you must have a follow-up colonoscopy. Even Cologuard essentially "admits' the high number of false positive results. They informed me, after I got my "positive" result, that a study of 1600 randomly selected Cologuard patients who got a "positive" result, only 4% actually had a cancerous polyp. The other 96% had either nothing, or else a benign polyp. What that indicates is a 96% false result for those who test "positive." As my family doctor told me, why not just get a colonscopy and save yourself the ick factor, time of collecting a sample and then sending it via UPS to the Cologuard lab? And more importantly, why not save yourself the stress and worry from getting a "positive result?" I have to wonder why this test was FDA approved when its results are so doubtful? I had a colonoscopy and it showed I had literally NOTHING to worry about. It showed I was completely normal with no polyps or anything else of concern. Perhaps the Exact Sciences Corporation (owner of Cologuard) is too concerned with the profits it makes from the test instead of actually providing a reliable and "exact" test - as their name suggests they provide.
Tip for consumers:
Do not use this test.

The company clearly states that you can get a false positive as well as a false negative! Need I say more? Lol you are literally paying for a colon crap shoot...
At the request of my family physician, I agreed to a Cologuard test, a HUGE MISTAKE! My test result was positive, consequently, underwent a Colonoscopy. My doctor was concerned about a possible rupture so she was unable to complete the entire test. I then agreed to an uncomfortable and embarrassing Barium Enema which involved the same horrendous prep as the Colonoscopy. With no fault on my part, this test was ruled a failure! I then underwent a CT scan which involved a contrast IV and drinking the disgusting barium. The results of the CT scan was NEGATIVE, the Cologuard test was a FALSE POSITIVE! All of these tests were within a seven month time frame to include two unrelated surgeries. Needless to say, all of this took an enormous toll emotionally and physically. My advice to anyone is please DO NOT get this unreliable and money making Cologuard test from Exact Sciences, just go ahead and get a colonoscopy!
Had cologuard test 2018 myself nor doctor were told of results. To this day nothing. Had cologuard test again 2023 got false pos. Skip it do colonscopy.
Too high of a FALSE POSITIVE rate - this is a waste!
If you have a high DED medical plan, and you use this test, a follow up Colonoscopy goes from a Free/Covered procedure to a several thousand dollar procedure!
Many high deductible plans cover a Colonoscopy 100% as a Preventative procedure.
If you take a Cologuard test, a subsequent Colonoscopy is then called Diagnostic vs Preventative, and you will pay thousands for it!
DO NOT USE COLOGUARD!
Nice to state it to the world when you have "Cologuard testing kit" on the outside box and/or label even if it is small. Ever hear of "Return to Sender"?
'22,85 year old:
20 19 did Immunolgy test; similar to Cologard & negative.
I self tested for blood in stool for 3 weeks in 2021 but my PCP recommended a Colorgard which I completed. It was positive and after consulting with three Gastroenterologists, I decided to go ahead with the colonoscopy.
I failed due to unstaisfactory cleanout following instructions EXACTLY.
Second /repeat colonscopy 10 months later, NO Displasia or Cancer evidence.
No telling what risks the two preps did to my colon considering risk warnings.
Now I read (10-2022) that there is medical debate regarding comparative survial rates whether you do vs don't have a colonoscopy!

Specimen was collected and shipped the same day. I received a notification that they couldn't preform due to stability. I am not collecting it again! Especially when it was shipped promptly.

Waste of time and money. Result will be abnormal. It will make you worry for weeks, and you'll have to get a colonascopy anyway. The colonascopy will be normal, and all the worry for nothing.
I will not be returning my test. There should be a warning label on the cologuard test. Those of us without a uterus simply can NOT poo without peeing at the same time lol. Therefor the positioning of the nether region is critical for a pee-less sample, all the while suffering lacerations from the collection container due to the length of time it may take for one's hind end to get over the stage fright of something being in the toilet. Surely there's a way to make the collection container not dig into one's rear while waiting to the obvious to happen. And now I've got to deliver it to UPS with a GIANT label that basically says "LAST NIGHTS DINNER IS IN THIS BOX!" Seriously CG if Adam and Eve have mastered the art of shipping toys in discrete packaging you could do the same. And let's not overlook the fact that most gastroenterologist do NOT recommend this test due to the excessive amounts of false positives or that the company will bill you even when you insurance company has said that the test is 100% covered. Ease of use-
Humiliation of shipping a box that is NOT discrete- 100%
False positives- TOO HIGH
Recommend- by me, 100% DO NOT RECOMMEND
Exact Sciences you are raking in $$$ all the while scaring people with false positives and non discreet packaging. With all that $$ you could 100% do better.

Will be doing colonoscopy rather than the test
I've been all over town pooping in boxes but never knew what to do after that. Now I have somewhere to mail my poo and I say thank you
What are the chances of only pooping a walnut sized turd into the can. It all goes in. I'm not picking out a walnut sized turd from the pile of poop.
Don't do it! This is the second time I had a false positive! So I spent months thinking I had cancer! Terrible!
