Someone told me about Consumer Cellular about 2 years ago. I was so tired of spending the ridiculous amount of money on my other service. So I tried Consumer Cellular. I'll never go back to anything else. I've nothing bad to say about this company. I have the exact same coverage as my other company gave me but for SO MUCH less. I'm saving over $100/mo without any interruptions. No dropped calls, Nothing. Highly recommend CC to anyone. Great for business too. I am a realtor so important to have a phone that always working. Mary H
They failed to fix my phone within the estimated time, taking 3x times longer than expected. Only after I decided to cancel my service and transfer my phone, were they able to fix my phone in order to transfer it. Twice I had to tell them that I already have sent the proper paperwork to transfer the account to my name after my wife's passing. They overcharge and withdraw money from my account after account closing and refuse to provide the proper refund to make things right. I would not recommend this company to anyone and would leave zero stars if possible.
We have used Consumer Cellular for several years in the US and been satisfied overall. However, we recently travelled in Canada and our phone did not work at all although we had called Consumer Cellular in advance and were assured that we would have service. We were in Yukon, BC, Alberta and Saskatchewan. No service anywhere. Now they are saying they don't guarantee there will be service in Canada.

Not only did I gave issues with service when I went to cancel an close my account they denied my #'s an didn't close my account still charged me 2 months that I didn't use an then charged me over 300. Took the unauthorized funds out of my account. I would never trust them!

Switched my cell service to Consumer Cellular which is mentioned in the A.A.R.P. Magazine about a month or so ago. So far, so good,EXCEPT for the one employee, Mar.on Fruitville Pike in Lancaster, Pa. Mar is the RUDEST P.O.S. EVER! Perhaps I were BLACK, he would treat me differently.I currently have 2 lines with Consumer Cellular. Was considering getting 2 more at least for my BEST FRIEND. I AM HAVING 2ND THOUGHTS NOW. The ONLY downfall would be Consumer Cellular.

Planning to travel to Europe, I called CC to unlock my phone so I could get a SIM card in Europe and was informed that since I didn't buy my phone from them that they could not unlock it. I bought it online from Apple directly and they informed me that they neither lock nor unlock phones. Accordingly, CC said that they would not unlock it unless I produced a receipt (the phone was 3-4 years old--no receipt). So I was stuck, presumably, with CC for the rest of my life. So I purchased their "international plan" as it was only a few days until my flight. It cost me over $150 on their plan. I promptly changed carriers on my return. Incidentally, most of the phone carriers I spoke to do not lock phones if there is no outstanding debt for the phone.

Service was requested to be cancelled. Bill arrived. Was paid. They sent a late fee. Then another late fee. And another. A late fee for the late fee for a cancelled service for an elderly user. Never ending fees on top of fees. The initial late fee was paid. But then they continued to send more accruing "late" fees for 6 months. A late fee for payment of a "late" fee? This should be illegal! Taking advantage of seniors who feel compelled to pay any bill received

So I just got a text telling me I went over. Went online and my updated acct I fo says I used.81mg out 1gb allowed. I called customer service and within that 2 minutes of NOT USING ANY DATA my account texted me saying I have now used.83. CC makes their $ on auto upgrading people's accounts. You have to BEG them not to. They say they give warnings when you're close but that's a lie as well. Corrupt company.

I've been with CC for awhile now, and I have never had a problem with my phone or service. Actually for the last couple years with them, I have received extra mins, data, and text for the same price. I believe they have boosted my plan 3x since I have signed up. If your just a normal phone user and want to create your own plan, this is the company to get a phone. I have plenty of mins, text, and data for about 35.00. Thats a decent deal.

I used Consumer Cellular for six years but found a cheaper plan with the same coverages. I decided to keep my old phone number. Consumer Cellular sent an email, stating that my account is overdue. What a joke. It is not due until July 14th. Also, the app says that this is my final invoice while the website states that my final invoice is being prepared. How consistent! Today I received an email from my bank that my carrier disconnected my phone number. So, thanks to Consumer Cellular I don't have online access to my online bank account, which was connected to my phone number, and have to wait until tomorrow to get access reinstated. Consumer Cellular knew that I had kept my old phone number. Thank you guys, you have a wonderful way of rewarding customer loyalty. Well, I will not be back. By the way, your fee of $5 for not having auto pay also stinks.

Because my first cell phone from them had popped open. I decided to order another phone. I called & the person I spoke to for activating my new phone not only disconnected me but now I get a message "cellular service not available" on my old phone. Online chat "not available". I could give them my phone number for a link but I don't text. So I am totally w/o phone service. Oh and their email address brings you to the name site for texting. I am sooo sorry I am with this company.

I wouldn't even rate them a one star, but had to, to leave my review. I just got off the phone with consumer cellulars sales department and customer service department. Talk about the WORST EXPERIENCE, i've ever had with a cellular company. They talk over the customer while speaking #1, Then their attitude's were attroshish. Very disrespectful of a customers questions. It's like your dealing with young kid's that don't wanna listen, and just run on with their mouth's. I mean really, they've turned me off so much, that I ended up hanging up on them. Not a way to get new customers if you ask me. I won't be purchasing service from them ever. And I would feel highly sorry with those that ever do. I can see why they deal with seniors more, because they can probably just take advantage of them. Consumer Cellular isn't what they claim on television advertisement what so ever.

I've been with this company for years...I always rated them with 5 stars...the customer service are always nice to help me... I've been paying my bill with my visa Debit card for 3yrs...I tried to pay,and they declined my card...WHY? No one could explain to me why...Very frustrated

Plan to sit on hold waiting for help. They no longer answer the phone in a timely manner, and they no longer allow customers to email them. And when they do answer the phone, you'll get someone who knows nothing. They require a credit check -- for a prepaid plan on a phone that I own. Plus, I previously had an account with them for a long time. Why do they need to do a credit check? Chat person couldn't tell me. Phone person couldn't tell me. "They just do." And their service is very spotty. Was lost in the Madison area of Wisconsin and had no service. When I tried to determine why and what to do about it -- again, they couldn't help me. They suck just as bad as all the rest of the carriers now. What a racket phone service has become.

Ordered a new phone got a refurbished one with problems they could't fix. Sent it back and they sent me a new sim card for my old phone that only lasted a couple of days. They told me they new it was going to be no good just didn't know the exact date. In my last 60 days of service i was without all service for 12 days and had no voicemail for all of it. Spent 5 hours with their help desk in this time and got nothing done, they also refused to port my # to my new carrier. STAY AWAY FROM THEM!

Called & reported problem. Gaby did not understand. I repeated it again.
She finally got it & still needed to do checkin. You want a photo but hitting the link won't let me go to my photos. Your service combined with you gipping me when I called in to stop my data plan results in this poor review. Your service agent said I had to go from lowest data to highest rate and I couldn't stop in between--fraud.
This proves why your satisfaction rate IS 1.9% and your advertising is a laughable scam just like the actors, grinning from ear to ear.

I dont receive texts untill 8-10 min after the timestamp attached. Its a real issue if you text back and forth with someone, and its Imessage so it should be next to instant. Ive tried resetting the network and other things with them but nothing works. After everything unlimited its about the same price as ATT and Tmobil, do yourself a favor and go with them instead

Despite what I read here, I have had and continue to have decent customer service from Consumer Cellular. My troubles started when they changed their network from T-Mobile to AT&T. I should have known because I've never gotten good service from AT&T landline or WiFi. My cell phone stopped logging incoming calls consistently. Then the problem spread to outgoing calls. Restarting the phone cures these problems temporarily but I shouldn't have to do this. The AT&T wireless voicemail system is under-featured and harder to use. Likewise international texting. There is more spam and no warning that an incoming call is probably spam as T-Mobile did. AT&T is notorious for carrying spam and profiting shamelessly from it. Now my phone doesn't ring sometimes on an incoming call. In short, service has become unreliable and I blame CC's move to AT&T, which has always been unreliable. Bad move guys!

Horrible customer service. Every time I've had to call it's been over one hour hold time. If I choose the call back offer, a TWO day call back date. Couldn't get Bof A mobile banking as well as other.

I went online to see if there was coverage where I live. Typed in my physical address and it said there was coverage. Upon signing up, and getting the sim card. I found out there is 0 coverage where I live. I had to drive 20 miles into town to use it. I called to cancel it. And for some reason it was not canceled the first time. It was not canceled until the end of July. Now I know why. So they can charge me for the month. It is not right. Horrible horrible company to deal with.never again. They got me for charges that I could not use,

*DONT SWITCH SERVICES *
I called Consumer Cellular after commercials came on every 5 mins. ( That should have been a clue) I finally called and waited on the line for about 10 mins. When he answered (Matthew) he asked me " How many lines will you need" I told him that I just needed 1 line but that I wanted to switch from my Company and that I had a nervous condition and needed him to listen because I could tell he wasn't listening but reading a script. He immediately got an attitude and said I need to call back another time.
I'm so glad that I didnt switch. This lets me know what I would be dealing with in the future. These people PREY on Senior Citizens and should be banned. Very disrespectful.

I couldn't figure out how I used so much data. No games. Only phone and text and gone over my limit a few time. Finally after 6 years someone told me that iPhones - iMessage and counted as data. SMS messages are free. BUT THEY sell iPhones and say free text!

Tell people that iPhone uses data not free text .

When you sign up for a plan, make sure that your email address is correct. I did not so I cannot login into my account to set up my voice mail or see my bill. It took 2.5 hours to determine that was the reason. I have a cellular hook up for my landline. Then I was told it would take two weeks to activate the correct email address. Today I called because I did not get a promised back up call. I was told it may take another 15 days to get it to work. Finally I told them, if it is not fixed by date, I am going to cancel the service. I had to set up on autopay so they seem not to care because they get their money. The phone does work and the service is 1/3 of another providers but if I can't login into the account, I do not need to have the account.

Consumer Cellular started out great telling me that my existing cell was compatible with their system. I was happy. In a matter of 2 days they had sent me a SIM card for my cell. Keep in mind I gave the my cell's MEID number so they KNEW my cell was compatible. When I put in the SIM card the cell would not work. After an hour or two on the phone with Consumer Cellular they then said "you need a new cell phone sir". Then tried to sell me a $180 cell phone. I assume that is their gimmick to make money off of you. I went back to TracFone who had merged with Verizon and they sent me a brand new cell at NO CHARGE.

I considered moving to Consumer Cellar to get a lower rate. Went through all the setup, and they charged my card but I had to wait a week to get the sim card, but charges start right away even though you can't use the service. I put the SIM card in, but it didn't work. I called in they could not help me, I was put on hold several times. They transferred me and the person could not help and ended up hanging up on me.
Don't waste your time or money. Service is bad, support is bad. I called Verzion to be she Consumer Celluar did not try to transfer my phone. Verizon support of friendly, extremely helpful and perfect to talk to
