As the others said, I got infected. I'm not sure how bad it is, but I think I stopped any malware/spyware infecting my computer. I'm currently running security programs and looking at my accounts to figure out what's going on. :/

As always, these kind of sites should be illegal. In fact, Nintendo should sue these kind of sites. As always, you have to go through a lot of ads and passwords. Not only that, but sometimes it could give your computer a virus if you stay on too long. And it's hard to get the newer ROMs. That's about it.

I've never had any issues with this site nor have I found any malicious software in the roms.

However, the site was recently hacked (I checked the site yesterday), and I'm not sure if any of the roms were tampered with. The site is up and running again today, so the owner's reaction time is pretty quick. The only issue I've had with it today is that the forums page is down.

Something terrible has happened to this site. It used to be fantastic.

I'm not sure why it uses it's own downloader these days, but every time I have used this downloader to download a rom it has come with a trojan that has allowed all kinds of horrible viruses and malware onto my hard drive.

This is not good enough for a rom site that gets such heavy traffic and is (or was) so favored by gamers.

I despise the site a year ago when i was downloading games i noticed they had 0 bytes wtf then another year back ads then screw this im done with this site also im glad nintendo forced them to delete all nintendo games

This site has decided to give it's users some suspicious downloaders every time you click no the download link. Granted, the alternative download links are okay, it's just infuriating that they decided to earn themselves money by scamming users into a downloader that installs malicious programs. Sites like Emuparadise.me are much more safer.

I know about that f**kin coolrom downloader they put on, and I don't trust that, so I use the alternative download link. With that, I can play a bunch of games that I can record easily! THe best rom site ever!

I used to use coolrom all the time. It was safe and easy to navigate. A week ago I tried to download Pokemon Leaf Green and I got so much adware and malware on my computer that it took me three days to tear it all back out of my computer. Never trusting coolrom again.

Excellent website. It is safe and free. They have emulators for a lot of the older systems, snes, n64, gameboy etc. The reason it lost a star b/c of the fact they have no tutorials which would be helpful to a lot of newcomers (YouTube has great tutorials) and they are missing a lot of software. For instance, they have the emulator (technically the console that you are downloading on you PC) but sometimes they don't have the Rom or Iso files (technically the individual games you are downloading on to your PC) and Visa-Versa. Oh and a lot of the 6th gen console emulators are really hard to use like the PS2 but once again they have tutorial on YouTube. So if you are looking for older console games to play I recommend using N64 and Gameboy Advance to start with. They are the easiest to use and the site has all the games for it. In ten years this site will be a legend and most likely still running.

I used to trust this site. It used to be my go to. Not after finding that what I downloaded months ago was a Trojan waiting for instructions.
After reading some of the reviews here I'm glad I did a full malware scan when I did. I just wish it'd been sooner. The regular quick scan my av automatically runs in the background apparently, for whatever misguided reason, doesn't include the user/[username]/downloads folders, so for those of you using Windows Defender*, do yourselves a favor and manually scan those folders on a regular basis.

*the standard av included with windows. I know, I know: I probably shouldn't trust a Microcrap product with something so important but my dad seems to think it's the best freeware av. I'm gonna look for something better after this though...

I have been trying to get one fu(!^g game out of it's $h!++y Coolrom Downloader for a week now. And i still havnt gotten my fu(!^g game. It always says "not responding" EVERY SINGLE FU(!^G TIME! THIS WEBSITE IS $H!+ ON THE END OF MY FU(!^G D!(K! Whoever made this "the #1 rom downloader is an@$$hole. Just kill it with fire.

I love this site. Hey the real privacy your a dip$#*!. This is the best rom website. Their are many roms from gbc to n64 to xbox. This is not a ripoff. Their is an add while waiting for a link but thats all. $#*!.

I loved this place, then the installer came around and ruined everything with Trojans. But it doesn't matter any more because it was discovered by Nintendo and most roms have been removed.

I used to go to this site all the time for any games I wanted to play, never got any viruses back then. That all changed when they introduced this "CoolROM downloader". The other day I decided to download a game for the first time in years, didn't really think much of the downloader at first, I made sure to uncheck any of the offers they gave me and what do you know? I still end up with the most annoying adware I've ever encountered in all my years. An absolute pain to deal with, and I find it inexcusable to have your downloader giving many people malware.

It's best to stay away from this site these days. I repeat: Stay away!

When I was on coolrom and I downloaded a ps1 rom I wanted to play but now they have their own installer instead of just using 7zip or Winrar. It's filled with bad malware including a virus that spreads on icons to make it slow, it will slow down browsers, games, documents and delete things on usb and sd cards. Its called Optimizer pro. Don't download from coolrom. I recommend Emuparadise.

I have now spend 3 days trying to clean up my computer after downloading files from coolrom.com. My Google account has been infected with virus after installing a program from the website, and it has now spread to all of my 3 devices that I had linked with my Google account! The same thing happened to me 3 years ago and I cannot believe that they still haven't done ANYTHING to prevent this!

UnCoolRom. No longer the great site they used to be. Now you get viruses and malware when you download through their website. Seek a better alternative for roms.

USERS BEWARE! This site was recommended by a colleague. Downloaded three games and all three were infected with Viruses/Trojans. Stay far away, you will be infected.

I want on it to play resident evil but s soon as you download an emulater you get a tun of viruses that tell you to optimize and speed up your pc... also it changed MY DUCKING HOMEPAGE FROM CHROME... things like this make me want to commit mass genocide

Awesome website, completely legal. Only if you use the DS roms if you don't have the game, for example for a let's play. It's hard to record that on a DS.
