I'm in love with crate & barrel. There's a crate&barrel at my nearby mall and I always stop by there to just drool over all the pretty kitchen stuff, rugs, etc. The website is also really good except it constantly tempts me to buy everything on there. Make sure you have a shopping list of what you need or else you might spend too much!
A package was delivered to my home address and left outside of my delivery box. My neighbor was kind enough to put the box left on the step in my mail delivery box. The next day the delivery person went into my mailbox and took the package. Crate and Barrel customer service said they couldn't do anything. They basically said that they outsource delivery and wouldn't investigate the matter. They seem unconcerned about one of their delivery people illegally retrieving things from a residential mailbox without notifying the resident.
Orders came quickly. Glassware ordered and three pieces were broken. Customer service was friendly, helpful and replaced them immediately with no hassle at all.
We almost always find what we're looking for at Crate & Barrel for good quality and price! It's fun to walk through the showrooms. So many great ideas!
For as much effort as they put into designing great looking furnishings, too often they fall short on quality of materials used and customer service. I am quite surprised by the negative reviews of merchandise at their site. Don't know why these reviews don't get them to "up their game." They have these great looking rugs, and then you read the reviews and you find they do not wear well -- loose loops, falling apart, etc. While it is always hard to judge color on a monitor, they seem to "pump up" the color in their images which is misleading. They make the colors more vibrant than they are in the actual merchandise. The negative reviews at their site makes me think they do not test things and have issues with quality control. Their website / shopping cart does not function properly. Trying to use their system to get a shipping quote made me want to pull my hair out. After my most recent experience I would give C&B 5 stars for design (really like the look of their furnishings) and 2/5 stars on the rest.
I found a set of 6 cookie sheets here that was priced at $30. Definitely way out the range of the average buyer. Don't shop here try Amazon or another place with fair prices instead.
Tip for consumers:
Avoid this place and look for other vendors offering sensible prices instead.
A bed I ordered was first delivered on June 11 with missing hardware. You'd expect this kind of logistics blunder from much lesser brands, but not with the premium we pay for CB merch. And so began the customer service nightmare. I was passed between so many cs reps I've lost count, and each time having to re-explain what happened and re-express my frustration having just moved into a new place with our newborn without a bed. It's almost as if the note each rep left for another was "customer didn't get some bolts for the bed lol". Initially it also bordered on insulting when all they could offer was a refund on original shipping or 10% discount or 15% discount (they give 15% discount codes to newsletter subscribers almost daily...). A week ago finally arrived at an agreement of a 20% discount and that the replacement bed would be delivered a week earlier than what the previous rep insisted the earliest humanly possible delivery date could be. I had asked for confirmation of the delivery date and I received one. That day has come and passed today with no delivery and no answer when I called the delivery company number. I mean I really don't know what to say anymore...
Love shopping here with my wife. Never a bad deal, but never anything cheap either :) Service tends to be good, although at times - rarely - a little snotty.
The worst... unprofessional... joke... oh my goodness, I cannot find the words to form a sentence that accurately conveys the level of incompetence, the unbelievable disastrous experience we had with the Crate & Barrel wedding registry. Best advise I can give is STAY AWAY FROM CRATE AND BARREL!
Tip for consumers:
The gift registry does not update accurately, ie you want 8 of an item, a person purchases all 8 but the registry continues to show that you want/need 8. A few days later you see that 60 of that same item have been purchased.
Another antiquated business that needs you to create yet another marginal internet account instead of using top-level single sign on SSO providers e.g. Google, Facebook
Jimena from their customer service team seriously made my day! She was so helpful and so professional! I would recommend this store 100 times. Someone give that girl a raise!
Tip for consumers:
Customer service is amazing so if there is ever an issue they are prompt in resolving it

I'm not the type of person to leave reviews but honestly, I've never been more disappointed in a company than I am right now with my experience with you. I'm 9 months pregnant and due on Thursday. I ordered a pretty expensive crib and dresser set (which said it would arrive in May) on your website back in February. We paid an outrageous amount in shipping costs to make matters worse. Since then, my order has been delayed on three separate occasions! You have been unable to provide me with any sort of dates of arrival and when you finally got one piece of our order in stock, I was told it could take 1-21 business days for it to arrive and that a third party would contact us.
We got a notification that our dresser had shipped and even got a text saying that it would be delivered, and it was promptly cancelled. When we called to find out what was going on, we got the run around and still have no answers as to where or when we will receive the dresser - which will likely be past my due date. For the amount of time, the cost of the order and shipping, the poor communication, long lead times for delivery, and having to work with an unreliable third-party company to receive an order I was genuinely excited about, has made the designing of my first child's nursey a complete nightmare. I would expect to be reimbursed at the very least, which hasn't been offered but basically what I'm getting at is - DO NOT SHOP here if you are needing something of importance in a reasonable time-frame.
I don't even know where to begin. Purchased a couch and dining room table from Crate and Barrel 12/18/21. The items of course were back-ordered to March 2022 for shipment. We reluctantly purchased and were excited to see the items ready to ship by March 23rd.
The confirmation email comes along that items will be delivered between 12:45 and 2:45pm. Then... nothing. No one showed, no one called, no one sent an email, nothing.
Allegedly, the driver was sick - but again, this was multiple chats and calls to Crate and Barrel. They then inform that we will not be able to receive our items until March 30th, an additional week. Unfortunately, knowing that the items were "en route", we had gotten rid of our old items to prepare the space. We are in an empty house without any solution, hoping that the 30th will work.
What kind of customer service is this? No notifications until we call back, only to know the delivery dates of screwed up logistics take a backseat to place shipping on the 30th? This is the only store in which this type of delivery challenge has taken place, ESPECIALLY without any courtesy of giving us a call. I will never buy from Crate and Barrel again... not even a fork.
Tip for consumers:
AVOID purchasing anything on back order.

I've purchased everything from furniture to kitchenware here, and I'm always happy with the value, the fashionable style, and the quality. I'm a customer for life!
They hired the best sales people. Always helpful and friendly. I love the quality of the items I have purchased here. I have never been disappointed by this store.
I used to love this store.until I bought a custom order leather sofa * ottoman. The first sofa was delivered after the long COVID delay but the delivery guys dropped it after unpacking it in the street when it was raining and damaged the leather. I contacted their CS and they ordered a replacement sofa (but not the ottoman so now the leather will not match) and the replacement finally came in. I get an email (actually being drowned on emails) that the order was in and to contact them to arrange delivery. I called early in the morning and was disconnected by a CS rep that I could barely hear. I called back later but was on hold forever and could not reach anyone. I called back a third time and left a message with all of my information and said I would be available any day in the morning. They just do not return calls! I tried to contact the salesperson in the store on two occasions prior to this and never got a return call! Do they not know how to contact a customer?! On top of that, the sofa is poor qualty, uncomfortable and the leather is so thin, it puckered badly after only sitting in it a couple of times. I don't know what happened to C&B but I will not know as they permanently lost a long standing customer.

Being that the nearest store is at the Yorkdale Mall in Toronto, we in Nova Scotia have to order our wants online your main store in the US which in itself isn't out of the ordinary, but what is, is the Holy Crap shipping charges / not only do you pay US shipping charges, you will pay Canadian shipping charges from Ontario thus making shipping costs astronomical / Here's a suggestion Crate and barrel / For Canadian shoppers hook up your online services to your Ontario store and bring the goods ordered into Canada via your shipments from your US warehouse which I'm sure is on a pretty regular bases then redistribute the goods to your Canadian customers / just saying
Even though they are expensive they offer great products.
Weve ordered 3 beds and all the linens and we love them. Of course weve ordered other things for our kitchen, bath etc.
All good
Crate & Barrel, what happened to you? Let's just say this company has taken a nosedive in customer service, particularly their online department. I placed an order online for an item that was backordered. Before placing the order, I contacted customer service via text (they no longer are taking phone calls?) and the rep assured me I wouldn't be charged for the item until it was available. Well that turned out to be a lie, because right before I hit "Place Order" I was warned that I'd be charged a 50% deposit. Uh, OK, whatever. I also asked for a coupon to be applied to the order that wasn't working for me, and, again, the rep reassured me it'd be done. Well, I contacted them 24 hours later, after it appeared the full amount was now being charged to my credit card. Not only did they knowingly charge the FULL AMOUNT of the order despite what I agreed to on their website (50% deposit), I found out the 20% also wasn't applied. They tried to weasel out of applying the discount because they claimed it wasn't a valid coupon AND said that I would have to pay the full amount because it was a store pick-up versus having it shipped. That made no sense to me and certainly wasn't disclosed when I made the purchase, which means they are fraudulently charging people amounts they don't agree to. I immediately told them to CANCEL the order and I'll never be doing business online again. What a nightmare!
I had my registry here and they did a great job managing it. No duplicate gifts, no other issues. Love this store!
Love shopping here! Always great for closing gifts and keeping my clients happy. Their selection and quality are second to none.
Need I really say more? It's a great Place with a variety of foods, and has a general store to browse thru before or after your meal.
What I like about Crate and Barrel is their customer service. It is one of the favourite shopping hunt
I bought a gift and they delivered that on time but their price is little high. I think they adjust rates in my up coming ordered.
Fortunate to have a store close by to touch and feel the merchandise. However, just ordered new dining chairs and they look amazing.
CONSUMER PLEASE BE VERY CAREFUL ABOUT WHEN YOU WILL BE TOTALLY RESPONSIBLE FOR A BACK ORDERED ITEM. It seems C & B feels empowered to hold you responsible for an incomplete order whenever it is convenient for them to do so.
We are very dissatisfied with the billing policy Crate & Barrel (C & B) employs on back ordered merchandise. We ordered a product from C& B's gift registry for an August wedding on May 26,2022. We were given an "end of June" delivery date. We were charged 1/2 the cost of the product plus all of the shipping + Tax. We knew this going in which was fair. Our reasonable expectation was that balance due (the second half of cost of the merchandise) would be charged to the credit card we originally used when the merchandise was finally delivered. Last week we were informed that the expected delivery date was now late July. It seems they have one of the boxes that comprises the total order but a second box associated with the merchandise was somewhere in shipping to them and would finally be deliverable in late July. This is certainly understandable. What was not understandable, reasonable, and/or ethical was that C & B has now billed our credit card for the balance of the order as though the order was completed. C & B's seems to consider the order now billable because it is on a ship somewhere in the Indian or Pacific Ocean with our order number on it. This seems to the old Accounting Professor's mind to violate any reasonable definition I can think of to define when a customer is responsible for an incomplete order much less reflect the rules governing GAAP income recognition.
Tip for consumers:
Know their policies before you agree to an out of stock item.
I bought these chairs, then got really faded, they replaced and told me will never happen again. Attached are the pictures.
