I'm having issues with my login and I can't get any help with it. I can't even cancel the account because I can't even log into the account.
I used to love Crunchyroll, but it stopped working two weeks ago. Over 4 hours of unpaid work trying their suggested fixes, 17++ emails, 6++ of which suggest the exact same fixes I tried in every single previous email I received, endless proof it's not working… Crunchyroll doesn't care. They even had the gall to blame my internet service provider, refuse to do anything on their end to fix it, refuse to give me a refund for a service they were unable to provide, and only respond to issues/e-mails with a useless AI. They'll never read your emails, never check your proof, never do anything to fix the fact it's their own fault their service does not work.
Yes, they're a "real" company, but don't expect help if something goes wrong, it'll never get fixed, and you'll never get a refund.
They took my money. Issued no receipt. I never received the benefits of the premium service I paid for over 6months. I'm still trying to get a refund but customer service is absolutely awful. They do not respond to questions and sent me the same pre-generated email twice in a row. And all for the measly sum of £40. I need this money to eat and they won't refund it.
I have been trying to return two products I purchased from them for almost 2 months now, I ordered them as a gift, and they were late, but more importantly the recipient wanted something else so I initiated a return in December. I have tried contacting support multiple times by email and have received no response. I reached out via chat and was told it must be escalated and can only be done through email.
No matter the issue you might have with the service, their technical support automatically assume the consumer is at fault somehow.
Getting them to understand your situation is a lot harder than it should be.
I pre-ordered two figures in 2022. One was shipped but for the second, they claimed COVID and a lack of staff delayed the shipment 4-5 times. When I finally asked for a reimbursement, at first someone responded, but then they started ignoring me. I never received a refund. Due to their numerous postponements, they forced me out of the Paypal protection period and my credit card had even less coverage.
Really frustrating that they've took over funimation. Serious lack of English dubs but yet more and more Dutch and Polish dubs...
The fire amazon app is garbage aswell, always laggy and crashes.
Genre function is also garbage and needs a massive overhall.
So get this. They have a massive catalogue of shows right. Cool... yet almost none of them are dubbed... even the ones you would expect (my hero academia, Boston, even god damn one piece.) Got this so me and my partner could binge watch a few shows but this site is garbage. Don't waste your money here. Like seriously it really is disappointing.
While I see a lot of bad reviews just straight-up blasting Crunchyroll, I want to shed a little light on the positives first. It's free to start, but premium is even better, relatively cheap and the wealth of shows is definitely a bright light in the dark when it comes to anime streaming. That said, let's get into the cons. The app on any console is trash. It's rarely updated, crashes constantly and when new episodes release on sundays it's typically down or buffers to infinity. I dig the platform, but if you really want to make your meal ticket(s) happy, fix the $#*!ing app. It's not much to ask.
I had bought multiple figures from this site, and it worked out alright, though there was a small break with one that had a small, flimsy piece. It glued back just fine. Imagine, then, when I get a figure where nothing fits in its correct slot for assembly, my surprise as the head breaks immediately, right with the peg stuck inside so the break was uneven. The hair also broke as I tried to repair the head and put it back on. It's current a mess of pieces. Customer service did nothing but tell me to use glue and waste my time.
I love the range crunchy roll has, however I've never had a harder time using an application in my entire life. I have to try and play a video, go back and play it a minimum of 3 times to play ANYTHING. Not to mention sometimes it thinks I'm watching things on more than one device… when I try and play something on the SAME DEVICE. Again I love the variety and dubbed content on Crunchyroll, but the struggle just to watch anything on the platform is a constant frustration of mine. How can you charge so much for a membership I struggle to use?
It appears the whole thing is run by a person named cristian that still lives in mothers basement. I do not recommend handing over your credit card details and paying for a premium subscription.
- No profiles
- No subtitles for dubbed version (rarely even CC subtitles)
- Videos will not even play first try. You need to go back and try to play it again
- Technical issues with at least Android TV app
Customer service is terrible. They take FOREVER to reply back. Sometime my emails get ignored. Crunchyroll isn't worth it for the price. I can watch better anime movies on different sites rather than paying for a site that's it even worth my money.
Terrible catalog management. Good luck navigating any show that has both multiple seasons and multiple languages. Absolutely nightmare of a user interface. Also, unlike Funimation, has no "simuldub" filter to see updates to dubs only. Best bet is to use "Newly Added" and hope that top of the list isn't littered with catalog backlog additions or new episodes for a language you don't want.
Crunchyroll is a very good site for anime in high quality. The only thing you may complain about, though is the fact that they play a lot of ads per episode, often multiple in a row. To solve this, either get an ad blocker or buy premium.
I dont use their site to watch anime due to how much they change and censor it but buying figures and other merchandise has been pretty nice. They have the best prices out of any of the other American stores and their customers service is quick to help with any issues. They are also really friendly and professional.
The video quality is lacking, with the picture being laggy and glitchy, and the amount of ad breaks is by far excessive. Even youtube wouldn't put 4 ad breaks 6 ads long in a less than 25 minute video.
So, they decide to make an app... a pay app... that has now been cancelled and they will no longer continue service on for certain Smart TV's. It was a poorly made app, but it made watching shows on your TV easy. Well, after getting some cash from that, they cancel the service and tell everyone "Sorry, but you can buy other devices that you can still watch our pay-service on!" Kinda like saying "Sorry I stole your money... wanna try again?" Not a great opening service.
I signed up for the two week trial to watch anime. After noticing they didn't have the shows I wanted I cancelled my trial. However, behind my back they have been taking £4.99 a month despite my cancellation, I have attempted to cancel 4 or 5 times with no prevail. Had to then contact PayPal and file dispute. Do not go premium unless you want an infinite membership or know how to cancel payments on your end.
My friend also purchased a figure from their site who crunchy roll then signed them up for the two week trial which you cannot cancel. Same problems on their end. Scam site.
Answer: Crunchyroll engineered a scam. If you payed using paypal, you have to cancel through paypal. It's ridiculous.
