Dell has a rating of 1.6 stars from 533 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers complaining about Dell most frequently mention customer service, tech support, and hard drive problems. Dell ranks 214th among Computer sites.
I am in love with Dell, and everything that Big Mike touches. It would be very hard for me to say anything negative about their website. The only thing I can advice is that they give it a more store-like format, and less of a PR medium. Other than that, it's all good.
I called to get information on where to access an invitation for friends/family which was super confusing, to begin with. The Dell employees are terrible at their job and do their best to try to confuse and obfuscate the correct answer. They were quick to point out that my computer was purchased two years ago. Don't they realize we have other options? Very poor management team who allows this bad service to go on. Just look at all the one star reviews.
My desktop purchase was in January. The sales part was okay, but the support is awful. On dells website, the words used to describe options offered when selecting a "customize" desktop, are misleading. The person I configured the machine with over the phone emailed the build sheet. The build sheet does not show pricing of all selected items.
Once I made the purchase, I received an invoice that showed itemized options with the cost of each item option. There were options I chose that initially showed no cost on their site and where some were no cost options that come built in.
Surprise, I was charged an extra $125 for options I did not want. Offshore dell says 15% restock fee to return. That is $250! I could not get any help with dell customer support. The two humans I spoke with kept me on the phone for an hour only to tell me to I should have studied the cost options closer.
This is dells way of providing good customer service. Dell is in Texas, but their support is offshore, utilizing humans that do not speak the best English. With dells directive of putting the responsibility of support with those overseas, it's likely your support will be less than satisfactory.
I do not recommend the purchase of a dell product. Read the reviews. There are just not enough good scores that support a confident purchase. Dell deceived me.
Tip for consumers:
The tracking information during shipping was not available. I had to keep calling dell to get updates. The computed arrived 4 days early. I planned my trip around when it was to arrive. That could have been better.

I ordered software on their website. It's been 1 month and they still haven't processed the order. I already have the download. They only need to provide me with the registration key. They can't process the order and I can't contact them. Everything on the website gives the runaround. Everything leads back to the order page. No live chat, no email, no toll free number. Even PayPal can't remove the hold on my account until it's been one month, but they continually renew the hold so the month will never expire. I can't understand how they can run a business like this.
Tip for consumers:
Don't buy from Dell. They don't have any customer service.

I haven't received the product. That's the whole point.
When they work, their laptops are decent but customer service is non existent like most companies. I purchased two laptops in one month and both had to be returned because the earphone jacks didn't work.

My son bought a very expensive gaming laptop. When he got it the charger didn't work and they said it was wear and tear. Finally he was able to send it in and they said they would fix it. He got it back and the battery won't hold a charge. He has had the laptop for a total of 24 days in his possession and he wants to return because obviously this laptop is junk. All he is getting is the run around. I helped him today for 2 hours and no one will listen. They say it is over 60 days but it took 1 month for him to get the laptop from Dell. Don't buy from them. This company is an absolute scam and now my son is out $2400!

Do not buy Dell products, if you do, you will be stuck with very bad service for repair, long wait, no follow ups, no calls back, no updates. Many parts are not under the warranty too!
We purchased a lap top for our son and have since paid it off. They keep billing us for the 4 dollar service contract and there is absolutely NO one who can assist us with canceling it. I've been trying for 2 days call every number on the website only to get CSR who can barely speak English
Dell has gone done the toilet. Tried to order a replacement battery for a laptop. Used chat to confirm the part. Won't go into details - but horrible and long experience. Switched to phone. Not much better. Dell thinks there automation and cheap over seas sales is a smart move. Humans are still the consumers. Dell gone bad.

I paid to have my laptop sent in and fixed at a service center. Expedited service 5-7 days and my laptop has apparently been sitting there, still isn't fixed after almost 10 days, no one emailed me with a quotation or let me know it was on "Hold" I had to go call them and find out where it was. Now they want me to pay again for the repairs that haven't been done yet. I should get my money back for the expedited service or have this quotation waived
These new ones are trash but if you get an old one its built better. We have this heavy thing but it still works. Tried upgrading to better computer but old one was just better.

Tried to purchase a new computer but just wasted 4 hours. Took 1 hour to order computer and separate larger hard drive. Computer came with no drive. No instructions on installing separate drive and no screws to install. After 3 hours over 2 days on the phone with tech support and customer disservice (neither could speak understandable english) I gave up and sent it back. Went to Best Buy and had a good experience.
Tip for consumers:
Go to Best Buy in person.

I ordered a computer and was told it would arrive overnight shipping. 5 days later still not arrived. Customer service support for shipping is terrible. They keep bankers' hours, so forget getting help in the evenings or on weekends and holidays. Additionally, they tack on hidden charges when your order, e.g. 1 year extra dell support for another $25 that I didn't ask for. When you try to talk to someone, they are all from India. Nice guys, nearly impossible to understand.

My higher end dell computer broke 3 times in the 1st year. Their "award winning" customer support is an absolute nightmare. I've been a loyal customer to dell for the last 20 years and it has slipped so much. Never again will I purchase from them.
I ordered a new laptop from Dell for university. It's delivery was postponed and then sent to the wrong address. After calling them 5 times over two weeks they still keep claiming that some other service will call me about picking it up. No calls, no follow-up. Make sure that you have months of lead-time if you order one of their computers.
Dell quality has really gone downhill. An expensive latitude laptop I purchased stopped working after about a month. Technical support and warranty support were utterly incompetent and seemed to operate with the sole goal of grinding down customers until they gave up
Dell, has put even more a concentrate on its business fittings in the course of the last couple of years, Dell laptops generally offer a brilliant writing background, yet not long from now there were some prominent special cases. Be that as it may, most Dell frameworks offered springy criticism while their substantial touch-pad's given smooth route and solid signal backing.
Some of the members of our computer club, decades ago, had Dell computers, but I did extensive research and bought another brand, which served me very well for many years. Nothing is as good as the old days! I'm switching to a MAC.
13 emails, 8 phone calls, 6 associates, 4 cancelled orders, 1 language barrier - 7 days of frustration and annoyance- just to buy a machine and accessories. All because I clicked the "Chat now" pop up while browsing Dell.com. The absolute worst customer service I have ever experienced in my life.
Attractively priced laptops: check. Convenient shipping: check. Friendly and mostly efficient customer service: check. Product quality: ok, I guess, if you're a light user. Over-users beware! This is most definitely not the best computer for you, in my humble experience -- after three major computer crashes on two different Dell laptops within four consecutive years.
Tip for consumers:
If you are an occasional computer user looking for a cheap laptop for emails and light browsing only. Products are anything but hard-wearing and usually last about 1-2 years, tops.
Dell inspiron laptop purchased Feb. 2019. Feb. 2020 (2 days before warranty was up) motherboard fried. No spills, no dropping, no power surge, worked one day, did not the next. Repair takes over 2 weeks. No machine for 2 weeks. May 13,2020 stuck on "preparing auto repair" screen. Try to get dell support and am told no longer under warranty, nothing they can do. They send self diagnostic video instead. Will never buy a Dell product again.
Dell has plummeted in the past decade, least in terms of quality. I've gone through 2 laptops in just under ten years and this third one is already showing issues within a year of purchase. The laptop constantly gives me charging issues and the fan is already off center/making weird noises.
Customer service isn't too good either. Yes people are personable and try their best on the phone but you try to get past that? Forget it. I actually have their premium support under my warranty and that's yielded nothing but headaches and my laptop still encountering problems.
I'm gonna switch to HP asap.
In general, the computer offers great value for its price. It's a breeze to set up, boots up swiftly, and the video camera can be easily toggled on and off. The only drawback is the screen resolution, which may require some adjustment period when it comes to reading text. If you're planning to utilize the computer for tasks like movie-watching or high-end photo editing, it may not be the ideal choice. However, for most day-to-day applications such as web browsing, managing personal finances, and general usage, it performs admirably well with remarkably fast response times.
I bought a Dell Laptop in February of this year. The product stopped working overnight in October. I filled a warranty claim. Dell returned the product unrepaired saying that the repair cost was beyond the value of the equipment. I am here with a unusable machine still under the warranty coverage. I called Dell customer service at least 5 times. There were completely useless. They kept on saying that the laptop has physical damage and that is not covered under warranty. Nothing can be farther away from the truth. The laptop has no physical damage whatsoever. Dell refused to honor its warranty. This is unfair and frustrating. I feel ignored by stupid policies designed to avoid responsibilities. So frustrating. I run a business and I purchase computer products on a regular basis. I will never ever buy Dell product again and I will tell everybody I know to avoid them at all cost.

Dell is a joke. They have low prices on computers but if you ever have an issue, good luck dealing with their joke of an outsourced customer service team. I've been hung up on, have had orders delayed (by months), and all around don't feel confident buying from them, though their prices do make it compelling.
Dell stole over $3,500 off my debit card and refused to resolve the issue when it was brought to their attention. They offshore much of their business. Guess that makes stealing easier, I don't know. I will never buy a single product from them again - it's way too dangerous. Hiring lawyer now to deal with their theft. Already reported them to several agencies. They don't care. Buy from other computer companies, there are many to choose from who don't steal from customers.
