We were loyal Dish Network customers for many years, but we noticed that new customers were getting better more advanced equipment with lower rates. We spoke with their retention department and that if we wanted the most up to date equipment that we would be paying twice what we were paying at the time. So we elected to cancel our service. We asked them where we could drop off their equipment and they said since our equipment was so old that they did not want it returned to them, but we could take it to Best Buy and they would recycle the items. We did just that. Now fast forward to today. We called to re-establish service with them to take advantage of their special offers, plus, we were unhappy with our current provider. The Dish Network representative checked our old account and history and said we would not be considered for a returning customer since we never returned our equipment to them 2 years ago! WOW! Not only did they not want to retain us as customers, but now they don't want us back. Think TWICE before signing up with these YO-YO's

I gave DISH NETWORK my credit card number to have them put my account on auto pay. A week or so later my service was cut off. I called them and informed them I had a recording of the call in which I clearly stated that I wanted to be put back on auto pay. They wouldn't listen to THEIR recording of the call because of ya-ya-ya.
I will be terminating my service, and would advise anyone considering Dish to think twice before signing up!

Dish keeps going up in Price while cancelling channels that they offered when you signed up. Dish just says "channel no longer available" BUT offer no type of refund. What a rip-off!

I recently terminated with DishTv. They sent a box to return their items. They want you to return the hub which is normally outside and also remove a part of the dish antenna. I'm 80 years old and they expect me to climb up a latter and remove the the part from the antenna or hire someone to do it. Then they expect you to go to UPS and drop it off, in my case it's 40 miles to a UPS store. To top it off they owe me money and apparently they won't return it until I return all the products. They are doing everything in their power to make it hard to quit. I see their trucks where I live doing installs, why couldn't they come by and uninstall. I truly mean it when I say don't subscribe to DishTv

I have been a dish customer for sometime and back in November of 2022 I called to cancel service and was told that they would lower my rate for 12 months if I stayed they lied because the very next month they raised it 5 dollars and then the next month they were unable to maintain the channels that I had. And now they are refusing to do anything about it. BAD for Business and Bad for you. DO NOT TRUST dish.

I had dish then went to the local cable Co because they have more entertainment channels for less cost, Dish has a lot of sports channels that would be good for some one who loves sports.

By far the worst company ever to get away from. Family member passed after having Dish for 20+ years and Dish wanted a copy of death certificate to prove it. I would NEVER recommend this company!

Oh my gosh!
I have been on the phone for an hour, have called at least 10 numbers and cannot get a living person to help. We have a protection agreement and need to have someone come out to look at the problem
HA! I have found no one who can even direct me to help. It is no wonder that dish is losing customers.
TERRIBLE TERRIBLE.,,,WOULD RATE THEM AS A MINUS 10

After being a customer for 18 years and not having anything good to watch for years and the prices sky rocketing I decided to drop this joke of an outfit. So I called the and I was put on hold twice for a half hour each time completely torched me off and then treated like I was a dip$#*! for canceling. Then they want to charge $15 to return their equipment and I get my final bill and they are charging me for a bundle package that I had canceled two months before. Then I call and they just throw things out and try to confuse you. Completely unsatisfied and would recommend that everyone stays far away from this company! NOT WORTH IT AT ALL!

This is the worst company ever and I will never do business with them again! I went two months without a channel that I watch every day (CBS) because Dish couldn't come up with an agreement with the network. Because of their poor management an agreement wasn't reached so after two months of no service on CBS I decided to cancel my service. I'm not going to pay $100 a month for tv service and not even get my local channels. They refused to let me out of my contract and charged a cancellation fee to cancel. I told them I wasn't going to pay a cancellation fee to cancel because it was their fault I was canceling. Now they put it on my credit report and refuse to remove it until I pay their cancellation fee. I'm NOT going to pay to cancel my service when I'm not being provided the service I signed up for! Why is it that the big corporations get to screw people over? This is the WORST company ever! I hope they all burn in HELL!

Over 3 months and still don't have local channel 9, yet they still continue to charge full price for the local channel lineup. Seems as if the customer is the only one expected to live up to "THE CONTRACT". The only reason I keep the service is because of the "HOPPER". If anyone else had it I would be gone in a heartbeat!. Currently on a 40 minute hold to talk to billing. TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE service.
Date of experience: March 29, 2023
The Joey which is a box used to run off the hopper tends to be unreliable and the techs and dish knows this. It's a point of paying for something the company will tell you has some minor occasional issues, but the techs will outright tell you it's an ongoing nightmare. Yes they offer wireless boxes for multiple rooms to keep you from having to pay for hoppers, but these mini receivers will lose connection constantly...then when you call after months of dealing with it happening 100 times a day with one joey, they of course run you through the, "unplug it and plug it back in." Routine. After realizing you're not the idiot they figure...it's the usual, we will send a tech out to replace the faulty equipment with the same thing and wait for it to happen again for a repeat performance...the techs inform their employers of the tech issues, but it seems this multi-million dollar Corp. Is like most, and ignores their employees advice to keep pushing half thought out services...otherwise yea...you get the number of channels you pay for but of course you won't watch half of what you pay for cause it's nonsense.
Tip for consumers:
Field techs do their best and are actually docked pay for complaints about the equipment that is faulty when given to them if a problem arises with it within a certain period of install...positive reviews help the techs keep their pay as it should be...between dish's willingness to deduct pay from techs who help sell product and their willingness to push half faulty product, a review of company standards and practices in the upper offices would most likely help.

I am finally done with dish tv after spending hours on phone with each occurrence being messed up. I tried to cancel service due to moving and made it effective april 15. Couple days later Dish shows up at my door to move my service. After I told them it was being discontinued not moved they informed me they are contracted by dish and must of had the wrong information. So called Dish again and after two hours on hold thought I got it resolved to discontinue service again and was told boxes would be in mail to send equipment back. So after a week and no boxes I called again and was told it was not marked as discontinued. So another hour on phone to finalize again that April 13 would be discontinued. And want me to pay cancellation fee of $340. So after I get off phone no service. Call back and they said I was discontinued b/c you can't put a future date in system and it would cost me more money to get back on. I said you should be paying me for your stupid mistakes but just left it discontinued. This is the worst business I have ever dealt with. Please do not ever sign up with these crooks. You can't ever get thru unless you have two hours to wait on phone and they don't have a clue what they are doing. Of course their system is always down.

I was a customer for 27 years had no problems Two year ago everything started I had the Greek Elite program and I couldn't get half of the channels they keep on sending a technician out but he had no clue what they were doing. He wouldn't get my programming to work and just take off without saying anything Well it got to the point where I had to cancel the service It's being 2 months from cancellation day and I still don't have my refund back not only they charged me half of the payment for services that I have no idea what they are but if I hadn't call I would never had got that money back I asked them how long before I get that money back in my account and they said 17 days. That's crazy! I'm so disappointed!

I pay for two 4K Joeys and I have had three different Dish installers(techs) come out to the house (and they wanted to charge me for the visit) and they have done everything from change out the Joeys and they still can't fix the problem. The 2022 World Series of Baseball is being aired in 4K and I can't watch it using my 4K Joeys. I know the 4K Joeys are working properly because I can watch 4K Netflix programming just fine. Dish Network doesn't have a clue why. Very disappointed in Dish Network. Paying for it and I don't get the service because they can't figure it out. Not sure if I want to use them in the future with upcoming technology advancements.

I have nothing positive to say about dish network, tv constantly goes into sleep mode, directions to stop sleep mode do not work, very few movies are free to watch on demand or otherwise, at least on directv's very limited database of old movies most are free to watch on demand, dish network on demand sometimes locks up even when I have a strong internet signal, the lock up requires repowering the device then attempting to restart the movie you wanted to watch, by that time you will probably not be in a mood to watch the movie, on top of that it reboots constantly, I will never have directv or dish network once I get out of this contract
Tip for consumers:
avoid satellite tv if you can, about 90% of the channels you get are infomercials, and most any movie you want to watch they expect you to pay a rental fee, even old black & white movies

had the dish installed, I was then offered a security camera installation for $670 I agreed to have it done but then the price went to $1,100 I said no, then it was $870 I said no then it was $780 I agreed to have it installed, but then the dish guy said he is not qualified to install but an installer could be here the next day and he only had 2 cameras with him, I agree to pay for those 2 cameras, the next day a guy calls and says he can't do the install but he needs to bring the other 2 cameras and collect the money? when he gets here the price had gone back up to $1,100 I refused, but now a week later a charge of $472 for the first 2 cameras remains on my credit card.

It would appear that somebody is better off to use Google or YouTube to work instead of Tech support. This company seems to nothing but confuse the customer aggravate them pick a verbal fight and decide the phone call is bad on the customers part. And they were the ones who initiated said disagreements. They're a complete total joke and any $#*!ing idiot kid in middle school that can get on YouTube could probably do their job better than them. I just reprogrammed my friends remote for their service after they just got off a heated discussion on the phone with customer service after holding for however long and getting on the phone to have one question answered. They totally yelled at her treated her like $#*! and then blamed her for this vulgar treatment. When the simple question was how do I program my remote to my new television? Any other Tech support questions? I would forward to the internet on your own Google and YouTube searching your save yourself time and annoyance and well. Let us hope that a sensible television service and next work. Well presented self in the world somewhere along lines because I don't have anything better to save for cable or any of the other services out there. Maybe they should hire? Competent employees not impatient entitled pieces of $#*! that make sure that nothing is done. Customers aren't satisfied and nobody wants the service at the end of the day. Hell of a customer service. Person this coming from a junkie and hustler who's got more sense in their brain on drugs.

I'd caution anyone -- especially those with parents over 70 -- to stay away from this provider. They falsified a contract, signing my mother's name below terms she had never seen. And didn't clarify those terms until it was too late. In short, my parents their account "on freeze" for a few months while they traveled, and when they came back, they were told to pay $35 more per month to get local channels. That's insane, right? This fee was never disclosed, but apparently she signed a contract, so, they get to do whatever they want. Except, the signature there is not hers. And, there was an opportunity when she put the account on hold to disclose/review these terms, but that didn't happen. Calling Dish TV to talk about their dishonest business model gets you nowhere -- especially if you talk with Nicole (ID: OFC?) who didn't seem to see anything wrong with the above AND then hung up on me. Amazing. Keep preying on the elderly, guys. And keep signing contracts for them. Top-notch business.
Tip for consumers:
Check to see that they don't fraudulently sign a contract on your behalf.

I do NOT ever leave reviews but I am beyond frustrated with DISH. When companies hire a 3rd party company to answer and run their business, which don't speak English nor probably live in the States; they do not have a clue what they are doing! DISH THIS IS GOING TO HURT YOUR BUSINESS MORE THAN SAVE YOU MONEY. WE WANT TALK AND COMMUNICATE WITH AMERICANS THAT SPEAK OUR LANGUAGE AND UNDERSTAND US. NOT BE TRANSFERRED 20 TIMES ON A PHONE CALL. FIGURE IT OUT! SO BEYOND FRUSTRATED.

Had Dish Network for the mandatory two years under a new $69.00 contract. At the end, we realized that we were paying for more channels than what we needed or watched. Drop down to a new plan for about $50.00 a month. Not happy with the service we were getting and canceled altogether. Now Dish has placed us in collections for $260 claiming we owed this amount for cancelling within the 2 years of our new service. This particular obligation was never presented to us at the time of the reduced service and, try as I might, I can't find anything online that supports this, only the mandatory 2 years for new accounts. To make matters worse, we were sent notices to reinstate our service with a follow up letter stating that what we had was no longer available and that all they could offer was a plan that was about $30.00 a month more. They still had their $69.00 plan for new and EXISTING customers, but after 2 calls to service reps, they refused to put us on it. Dish is not in the habit of working with customers. They would rather turn you into collections and screw with your credit rating. They've already been warned that if they continue this approach I have little choice but to pursue them in small claims and they can send someone to Fresno to provide a defense. It's not advisable to f++k with an old retired guy with too much time on his hands. Cause of action, fraud, false advertising and frivolous threats.

Stay away from Dish altogether

Dish owes me over $1400. That thry. Barged yo my card after I moved and discontinued service. I am a widowed elderly handicapped woman who has been taken advantage by Dish. I finally got someone to stop charging my card and now they only want to refund me a small portion of what they charged. I asked for a box yo return their receiver and they at first said they would send one after a year of requesting it. Then fish called and told me not yo bother, that they would send someone by in a few days yo pick it up. On Sunday, someone text me at 7:45 am that they were on their way. I was going to church with my 96 year old mother and didn't notice the text. The person came to my apt and sat for over an hour in front. My landlord was alarmed and tried to call me. He took pictures of the man's license plate which was out of state. Dish never had any problem with my payments and contract, no reason for this behavior. I have been taken advantage of. If you are a senior, look out for Dish! They lie and steal! Who ever heard of coming to your home early on a Sunday morning and stalking you!

We have been DISH users for nearly 10 years only because they are the only provider in our area. Not once during that time has the customer been first. They do not monitor the age of equipment and/or offer to replace before it dies. Our most current issue: primary box had fatal error meaning we can not record, pause, go back, go forward, can only watch prime time recordings from primary box, will have to re-enter all of our favorite recordings set up, and DISH will not expedite delivery of new box or provide a delivery date. The only positive I have to say about DISH is they have live chat so it is not necessary to speak to live person and listen to them read canned responses. Our bill continues to climb - is nearly $200/month with NO premium channels. They have never allowed a credit no matter how long ALL paid for services are not available. Our bill is set up for auto pay so they get their money on time no matter how poor the service is. My next correspondence is to the FCC and both my state and federal representatives.
