DuckDuckGo has a rating of 2.3 stars from 223 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. DuckDuckGo ranks 14th among Search sites.
I feel like people are on one of two sides here. They either give it 5 stars and says that its privacy is way better than other search engines, or they give it one star and say that it is 100% false advertising! I just switched to duckduckgo, and I don't really know how to feel yet. But Duckduckgo, if you are reading this comment, please think about what I just said, and read the other reviews if you don't believe me when I say that the reviews are VERY two-sided!
DuckDuckGo has given me much better search results than Google has. The results are unbiased and ones that I trust. They don't market my internet history to me and I don't feel like I've got Big Brother working with their marketing team.
I study Cyber Security and I appreciate the efforts of any company that treats internet security as a human right and not a privilege.
Thank you DuckDuckGo I hope your mission spreads to be the standard. You are helping keep the internet in the hands of the public!
It's the only search engine I use and they actually take your privacy seriously if you know what your doing. You can keep the searches you want private and allow other to be viewed. Google tracks everything everywhere and duckduckgo is it's only real competition. Yes I know Duckduckgo indexes Yandex but I'm fine with that.
It does answer the question i ask and changes my question so it give me what it wants and now what i asked or has incomplete answers
They may claim to not track you, but they do. I have a screenshot of what Ublock Origin blocked: 3 tracking cookies. Now Google does a lot worse, but it is false advertising. They also recommend IPhone over Android yet Apple has just as bad of a privacy policy as Google does. They also host their website on a Amazon web server, which Amazon is notoriously known for their terrible privacy practices.
People on this site claim that duck duck go steals their information and hacks into their account. This is not the case, these people downloaded something off the internet that led to duck duck go being installed. It's probably not a licensed, illegitimate program That infected their computer with Trojan malware. Duck duck go is a very sound company with the intention of keeping your privacy secure. I have been using them for over 2 years and had not had any problems. 100% recommend to people that value their security.
It focuses on privacy, and fast searching! Best works on Fire Fox in my opinion. Pretty fast, but i like more that it's focused on privacy too.
This company needs to be shut down. They thrive on paranoia and false advertising, claiming to be 'completely anonymous' (completely false). They use all that 'evil' data collected by Google to target you with annoying ads that scream "GOOGLE TRACKS YOU!" You don't say! The CEO of this organization is desperate to convince people that Google is an evil company and that data collection should be banned and that we should all use 'DuckDuckGo'. Keep dreaming, pal. DO NOT USE DuckDuckGo, it is a fraudulent service that fetches search results from Yahoo/Bing and is NOT 'anonymous'. Get a VPN and boycott this crap.
Don't install it constantly gives wrong results and also tracks your info not to mention you cant even save pics on a chromebook.
On their youtube advertisement, it clearly states "GOOGLE FOLLOWS YOU AROUND WITH ADS." Well, in my opinion, DuckDuckGo does the same. Every day I see one of these ads and THEY SUCK
Search is wrong. Ads everywhere I only tried duck duck go for something different. What I think everyone can do if they are worried about Google tracking is to download opera browser and use their VPN. It's free.
The browser is relevant and effective, it supports vast majority of browser selective device. It is greater privacy than Google I believe based on multiple observation. For a more freedom safe internet. Thanks duckduckgo been using for a long time.
BECAUSE OF THEIR NUBBY PRIVACY THINGY, None of my bookmarks are saved, TONS of ads pop up, and they keep saying, "sWitCH to DuCkdUcKgO! 11! 1! ItS BetTer!" Unlike DuckDuckGo, GOOGLE INC actually is HELPFUL, NOT LIKE THIS STUPID PEICE OF -ahem-! 1! 1!
It is a very good search engine but have the things i search theres nothing that relates to what i searched
Figured I'd give it a try - on my *FIRST* search, a Trojan ad popped up and tried to hold my browser hostage.
Too dangerous, it had to go. Unfortunate, because their advertising had me really interested.
Searching may be private, but the results suck. What good is it? You can't search more than 4 words or you get COMPLETELY IRRELEVANT RESULTS.
Certain terms return no results, or curated results.
For example (not safe for work!): hentai loli
This returns no images.
But it's not that DDG has such high moral standards, oh no, not at all.
Searching for: hentai +loli
This returns all the disgusting porn you never wanted to see.
I don't know what else it could be censoring, or manipulating, but the website clearly cannot be trusted.
Well, I've just changed my search engine to DuckDuckGo just to test it out. DuckDuckGo's goal is to "Let people have privacy on the internet" but it tracks down what you search. I guess there's no privacy on the internet after all.
I was looking for an image of Al Gore Rolling Stone Cover. Google images has many. Duckduckgo has ZERO. You can scroll down to thousands of Al Gore pics and NOT A SINGLE ONE is the Rolling Stone Cover. Only an evil person would deliberately remove that.
DuckDuckGo is okay, it gives you more results and if you get the chrome extension it will rate the safety of the websites. But it does still run cookies, (although that would be tracking the websites you're on), and... wait, hold up. Why is DuckDuckGo making an extension for google chrome on the GOOGLE CHROME webstore? Google chrome is obviously owned by google, as stated in the name. DuckDuckGo also advertises itself on YOUTUBE, also owned by google. Welp, now google is helping DuckDuckGo. Umm...
