“The price of freedom, and our best hope.”

Vince C.

Previously I was more critical on duckduckgo but I am converting my opinion. Their search function may not be as good as google but then they are not also compiling a database of everything you do on-line and then further sharing it with other organizations (including the government) behind your back. Our best hope is that we support this tool so that they can hopefully continue to improve it and to provide a counterbalance to organizations that are not interested in maintaining real user privacy. For those interested in knowing more about this issue I recommend the following podcast: https://fs.blog/gabriel-weinberg/

Duckduck go is ok, However it is very difficult to remove the last website visited. Right now the url box is stuck on the last page.

As search engines go it is good. My biggest peave is I continue to get Russian web sites suggested when I search. I have set, checked and re-checked my settings, they are still where I set them originally and still the Russian sites show up. Wish I could just block anything outside the USA!

This is not a way to escape Google, searches on DuckDuckGo will still influence Google suggestions. Despite claiming "no tracking" they still create multiple cookies and while they may not store the data on their own database servers (which is unlikely but would allow them to defend their claim in court) they are certainly selling or giving access to Google. This is the world we live in, the only way to deny Alphabet and the alphabet soup they service (NSA, CIA, FBI etc...) is to not use the internet.

Hi. 3G 4G issues on Chrome and Safari with my iphone. No internet access it says. Problem solved. Use DuckDuckGo. The only browser that seems to be able to make things actually work on wife or data. Well done DuckDuckGo. Thanks for a great browser, that also seems to give privacy if that is important to you. I shoud add that I use Vodacom, and realize that that may have something to do with my experience.

While I appreciate the privacy that DDG provides, I'm noticing that when I search for certain news articles on subjects, the first ones that come up are the lesser known media with an obvious agenda. This makes me doubt that DDG has no agenda of its own. Moreover, the articles are always opinion pieces and editorials rather than simply news articles.

DuckDuckGo is a good website to go on. It's a good website to use if you are a school student with a Chromebook with restrictions on it. However, not all videos from YouTube will be shown.

Update: it's not that useful, but it's decent for porn ig.

Certain terms return no results, or curated results.
For example (not safe for work!): hentai loli
This returns no images.
But it's not that DDG has such high moral standards, oh no, not at all.
Searching for: hentai +loli
This returns all the disgusting porn you never wanted to see.

I don't know what else it could be censoring, or manipulating, but the website clearly cannot be trusted.

On doing research... if appears this search engine may have relationship with CHINA... which explains the Russion propaganda (found on: https://southfront.org) which article after article is repleat with blantant lies... it's like you're reading live Russian TV! If this is the case... how can you be certain "what you see is what you get" when this search engine makes all these claims about security?

Using either the "-" negative sign or using logical function such as NOT does not eliminate the keywords. This makes a search engine useful.

The other issue is the results are become more and more biased towards what's popular in captalist marketing, Bing does this, be different.

Searching for best massagers to buy, only shows theragun type massage tools. I can not massage my upper back with those. Haha. And I have no friends.

DuckDuckGo needs to improve some search results, but their privacy policy and results cleanness presentation makes DuckDuckGo my web search engine of choice. It is defined as my default search engine on Safari.

I use DDG on firefox, and have for about 5 years. I uninstalled it for a day, just to see if the complaints about uninstalling were real, but I had no problems. Is there possibly a download site putting out a bad version or something? I decided to do a review because Avast keeps trying to get me to uninstall it - ever since they partnered with Yahoo. So now I guess I have to start looking for a new anti-virus provider...

I have no reason to dislike this site. I recently switched my default search engine to duckduckgo.

When searching for something you get a little snippit of information about it at the top (whether it is a definition, or just an interesting fact). Below you are shown one page of results (quite honestly you don't want to have to look through 14 pages to find what you're looking for anyway). By clicking on "more links" at the bottom you see all the other things the engine found not displayed on the top of the list.

REASONS TO USE:
[1] Tired of google
[2] ad-free
[3] "DuckDuckGo does not collect or share personal information."

REASONS TO LOSE:
[1] Doesn't have "image search" capability yet

DuckDuckGo came with an update of my SeaMonkey browser. I read mostly positive reviews about it but when I tried it, it couldn't find "Rose of Alabama", a civil war song. Instead it gave me Rose Warehouse a business as the only option to my search.

If Liberals don't like it than you know you're at the right place! Googles censorship is over the TOP and completely slants to the "Lefts" Narratives, Lies, and Bigotry! DuckDuckGo is fair and allows its users to research and form their own opinions!

Having been with Microsoft and changed to Ubuntu I have now changed from Google to DuckDuckGo. My computer just loves these 2 simple changes. I consider Microsoft and Google to be just a bunch of money grabbing s-l-o-w my computer down crap. Install Ubuntu and DuckDuckGo and your computer will fly.

I have used DDG for 4 months without finding any major snags in its operation. It is a little annoying that you have to disable the two DDG pop-up ads on all of your machines individually - and it took me a little while to work out how to do it.
I use DDG on an IMac Latest OS), my browser is Safari. I had a minor problem and contacted DDG support only to be told "We do not support Apple Macs". Ridiculous!
Sorry guys, but that is the end of my brief flirtation with DDG...

I can't use duckduck because every time I have to answer something online, or in my email, it doesn't redirect me to where it should. It just redirects me to a bookmarked page. It makes me so angry that I'll just be tracked by Google. I can't answer anything on an important form because I lose my page. That's a really bad feature. People need to be directed to the right page when filling out forms.

Duckduckgo claims to only provide ads based on what you currently search, however I had looked up Planned Parenthood, then I started seeing ads for Planned Parenthood when I was looking up mothball deodorizers. This was the only instance where I caught them tracking, but it still seems suspicious since they claim they're not like the rest...

NO search engine can keep you from being tracked Duck might not track but every site you hit does track. Still need to be aware. We can't blame duck for our lack of planned and active protection

As most of you may be aware, the U.S. federal gov. Mandated that web browsers are required to have a back door for them to access. This is to protect the public against crinimal activity. The last of the browsers that went out without a trace ended back in the late 1990s. I use to have one, but by todays standards, ghost browsers would be timed out or halted my most servers.Tor has a fairly secure browsers, it takes some knowledge to use, and it is slower to surf. Would suggest having a firewall to reduce call back traffic from your own apps. Really good browsers connect outside the states, and re-enter, but alot of risk associated if you dont know what your doing, info. Can be stolen abroad, and possibly no U.S. laws can protect you. Then the U.S. D. H. S. will be monitoring everything as a foreign connection comming into the states.

OMG, this is the WORST thing I have ever done to my ipad! And it WILL NOT DELETE! No matter how many times I have tried, it keeps reappearing to a search I did last summer, and it is even complete with the misspelling of the thing I searched LONG ago! It is like a bad memory my ipad cannot erase! I wish I could leave negative stars as 1 star is too many! They OBVIOUSLY do track and are basing their reputation on that, but it is a lie! If anyone knows how I can completely extract this nightmare from my ipad, please leave me a message. Thank you!

Tip for consumers:
That this company’s main statement is that they do NOT track, but that is a LIE. Please help me with steps to extract this meddling tracking spammy DuckDuckGo off of my ipad.
