DuckDuckGo has a rating of 2.3 stars from 223 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. DuckDuckGo ranks 270th among Search sites.
Previously I was more critical on duckduckgo but I am converting my opinion. Their search function may not be as good as google but then they are not also compiling a database of everything you do on-line and then further sharing it with other organizations (including the government) behind your back. Our best hope is that we support this tool so that they can hopefully continue to improve it and to provide a counterbalance to organizations that are not interested in maintaining real user privacy. For those interested in knowing more about this issue I recommend the following podcast: https://fs.blog/gabriel-weinberg/
Duckduck go is ok, However it is very difficult to remove the last website visited. Right now the url box is stuck on the last page.

The duck sells your info to google, this can be seen with heavy ad choice ads all the time. Now they are redirecting and editing my search requests over hot button political searches. Total communist B. S!
Hardly. And Bing works with very respectable algorithms.
But DuckDuckGo is a feature-rich semantic search engine, that gives you countless reasons to leave Google behind. Searches are divided into a classic search, information search, shopping and their own spin-off from Google, "I'm feeling ducky.":: cough::
If you search for a term that has more than one meaning, it will give you the chance to choose what you were originally looking for, with its disambiguation results. For example, searching for the term Apple will give you a long list of the possible meanings including the fruit, the computer company, the bank and many others.
Happy Ducking?
Ron.
I've always been a Google girl but recently I've had trouble researching things on Google. Either they aren't showing stuff or it's so buried under biased results that it can't be found. DuckDuckGo has been an amazing resource for finding real and unbiased information. DuckDuckGo has replaced my Google widget and favorites bar bookmark.
There are many good reviews from members of both sexes. The vast majority of the single star reviews were written by men, maybe all because some reviewers have initials instead of a first name, and many using trucker language. I am just starting so don't have a review one side or other, but it's worth a try if the trailing ends.
If you scroll down the list of reviews here you will notice that the reviews with 1 and 2 stars have the most votes for being helpful. A blind man can see this is a deliberate attack in an attempt to discredit the DuckDuckGo search engine.
This is a free service that does not play the privacy violation games that google does. Also, google is politically liberal in its search results when using it for searching about politicians. I am so sick of the Internet telling me who to vote for. So far I do not find DuckDuckGo doing this.
Like most people, I've long used google. But google starts to get downright offensive when I look up say a 20" pink bicycle for my niece on my phone, then my phone starts popping up ads for all these 20" pink bicycles on every site I visit on my work computer. Or when google prompts me (when location tracking is OFF) to write a review for the burger & beer joint I stopped at last month, and the clothing store I entered, so forth and so on. No thank you!
Enter duckduckgo -- an alternate search engine. Simple. Gives me the results I want without all the ridiculous tracking I don't. They don't track search history, just give the search results. Isn't that what a search engine is supposed to do?! I've been using it for 6+ months without any issues at all. Highly recommend.
Let make this clear this search engine is far from perfect, but when you start comparing it to the other search engines out there, duckduckgo will be the best choice at our current time with it policies and good algorithm simple ui. And I think it will improve as it grows and more people start to use it while insisting that the company should not change form it mean goal as a neutral search engine that respects people's privacy. Also some people won't care that much about the name but I think they are better finding a smaller easier name to make it more attractive to use.
Tip for consumers:
If you refuse to replace your old search engine with this one at lest whenever you don't find something on your principle search engine you can have this one as a back to get more results
The browser is relevant and effective, it supports vast majority of browser selective device. It is greater privacy than Google I believe based on multiple observation. For a more freedom safe internet. Thanks duckduckgo been using for a long time.
As a person who spends the greater part of his workday conducting online research via search engines, I have tracked Duckduckgo's journey from an okay search engine to the top publicly available search engine. The minimal paid placements and the absence of bias allows me to find the exact information I am looking for without having to scroll to the second or third page - which is currently the case with Google. I do not have the technical knowledge to vouch for the validity of the no-tracking claim, but the simplicity of getting to the information I need without being spoon-fed useless information makes Duckduckgo my search engine of choice.
Glad to have a privacy-based option. Of course, not being super-techy I don't know for sure if it's really blocking the snoopers, but I sure hope so! One tiny suggestion: could the bookmarks be available as soon as I open the app? Currently you have to type something random into the search bar for those to be accessible. Thanks
Good alternative search engine to some of the more well known. Google is too ad oriented these days and has lost sight of good solid search results. Duck Duck Go and others (prefer BING to Google) are more on target for what this user wants in results.
Also they are anonymous search queries if that is something anyone is concerned about.
Whether it's a negative or positive review, I'm just sick and tired of these whiny Trump Supporters crying out censorship. I see enough of this crap everywhere else. Why bring DuckDuckGo into your Trump d***riding? What the $#*! does this search engine have to do with politics? White people get on my nerves lmao. Also, 3 stars because I can't seem to change the search filter from strict to off. It keeps reverting and I don't get it. Why can't I choose what I want?
Anyway, you guys can't stop anyone from criticizing trump. It's time you get over that $#*! and grow up. Y'all need to learn how to read and educated yourselves on what the First Amendment is ACTUALLY about. If you think climate change is a hoax, then y'all are the perfect example residents from other countries need, to prove that Americans are $#*!ed.
Sigh... this country is beyond doomed...
It's the only search engine I use and they actually take your privacy seriously if you know what your doing. You can keep the searches you want private and allow other to be viewed. Google tracks everything everywhere and duckduckgo is it's only real competition. Yes I know Duckduckgo indexes Yandex but I'm fine with that.
I feel like people are on one of two sides here. They either give it 5 stars and says that its privacy is way better than other search engines, or they give it one star and say that it is 100% false advertising! I just switched to duckduckgo, and I don't really know how to feel yet. But Duckduckgo, if you are reading this comment, please think about what I just said, and read the other reviews if you don't believe me when I say that the reviews are VERY two-sided!
Duckduckgo has been my default browser for over 1 year now. I hardly ever use Google, which is just a backup for Duckduckgo. I read some reviews that said something about duckduckgo making itself your default browser, but I have no idea what they are talking about.
Good search results, often quite similar to those of Google, but DuckDuckGo does not track you like some other search engines do. Clean interface, too. And you can decide if you want to see ads or not.
For security and privacy reasons I moved to duckduckgo. Come, however I am frustrated that all my search directed from US to Canada. This has already caused several complications for me, especially when I ordered merchandises and made payments! I feel bad, because they took advantage of my trust. So, often now I go back to google.
Duck Duck Go is a very decent search engine. Unfortunately, it is being sabotaged by the internet monoply holder. I can say this b/c I am a witness... apps and sites that refused to work for me on my smartphone while using Duck Duck Go had no issues when I used Chrome! We have no more rights anymore, and the Internet being allowed to be controlled by one leach has made it so that discrimination, lawlessness, cheating and stealing is accepted out in the open.
Tip for consumers:
What can I say? If this search Engine is being Sabotaged you yourself are too forced out...sigh!
I've read through some of the one-star reviews. They're BS. They describe Google more than duckduckgo. Once I used Google to look the name of what those Russian dolls that fit inside each other (Matryoshka dolls). A half hour later I got an email from a Russian mail-order bride service.
I am so disappointed! I was really hoping this would work out. I have been working with the DuckDuckGo search engine for a couple of months and really wanted to make this my primary search engine because I cannot stand Google's spying. Unfortunately the DuckDuckGo search engine, on several occassions, could not return simple searches. For example, if I type in "time?", it gives me all sorts of irrelevant answers. Whereas when I type the same query in Google, it returns the exact match - the current time. I have tried several such simple queries. How do you expect to compete with Google if you cannot even return basic searches? You need to improve your algorithms. The privacy part of it is fantastic but browsers should be able to generate requested results, for the most part. That's what they are designed to do. DuckDuckGo is failing in this.
DuckDuckGo has given me much better search results than Google has. The results are unbiased and ones that I trust. They don't market my internet history to me and I don't feel like I've got Big Brother working with their marketing team.
I study Cyber Security and I appreciate the efforts of any company that treats internet security as a human right and not a privilege.
Thank you DuckDuckGo I hope your mission spreads to be the standard. You are helping keep the internet in the hands of the public!
Okay, great! I came over to DuckDuckGo today to search for a quote from Joseph Stalin about counting the votes and every result on the first page was from Snopes, USA Today, Politifact, etc. All ultra-liberal sources that all, of course, said Stalin never said 'it's who counts the votes that's important'. Okay, great! I see now. This is a site where 'people can't track you' but not a site where you can trust the unbiased nature of the search results! Just great! Back to Google with my ability to see through the BS!
It's not as fast as Bing but probably the same load speed as Google from my experience. DuckDuckGo just doesn't really pop out for me. There is nothing innovative about it. It's just an average search engine. If you're an average person, by all means, this search engine is for you.
Tip for consumers:
Just an average search engine, nothing special about it.
Ok l, who ever is behind this YOU ARE MY NEW HERO. Just FYI, I got your site from the Canam.com website. The founder on that site talks about many things. The one thing he does is, encourages people to do their own thinking. He stands behind the constitution and supports people who want to be able to express their values. He believes that we should actually have and maintain our values. He is the one that gave this app to his audience. I believe he is of a like mind as the majority and he explained why he switched to DUCKDUCKGO in detail. I'll spread the word. I am an educated, God fearing, optimistic woman. I hope I can do my part to support you!
Thank you,
