I've been using ddg from about 9 months, I live in India and it seems to give pretty accurate information and the search results are pretty up to date exactly what I'd expect (most of the times), where it kinda trails behind is Maps, if I search for a specific place, it uses Apple Maps (I do know that Apple respects privacy and is much better in those terms). Apple Maps is basically unusable in India, it does not show any relevant information, ratings or pictures about the place, so I found myself switching to google to perform anything related to finding a place. Rest assured, one of the best private alternatives to Google. I personally use it on Brave browser on Windows/Linux and the ddg app is good enough for Android.
Google tries to track your location and does not protect u from hackers unlike duckduckgo. Duckduckgo is the best browser ever, delete all google apps and browsers from your phone immediently.
These are the only search options I get. I searched for Nutter Butter Wafer cookies with 5 stores near me I wanted to see pricing for and all they showed me was EBay. Would be nice to get privacy and variety.
Duckduckgo gives me much more accurate search results than Google! I know that Duckduckgo still uses improving.duckduckgo.com, but this just makes a few anonymous ads. There are very few ads, and they don't use any of your data! You don't even have to make an account! One thing that would be nice would be something like Google Scholar, where only credible websites appear. Much better than any other web browser!
I have to to toggle the sound every time. I'm close to deleting. I can't backup or export bookmarks. What an unthoughtful app.
I've loved using duck duck go, just knowing that it doesn't keep my searches unless I want to bookmark them is good for me. The oligarchical control of some providers in this field is nothing short of frightening to me. My business is my business we need to allow freedom and we need to unite against oppression.
A friend from church told me about & showed me duck duck go. I love it & the logo is very cute. It works great and I am so thankful for yall. How do you make money? Thanks again. Van V.
Glad to have a privacy-based option. Of course, not being super-techy I don't know for sure if it's really blocking the snoopers, but I sure hope so! One tiny suggestion: could the bookmarks be available as soon as I open the app? Currently you have to type something random into the search bar for those to be accessible. Thanks
Thank you for freedom :) Great work DuckDuckGo! I cannot stand Google. Their tracking and censorship should be forbidden.
The search engine promotes companies from the USA and UK, it is especially visible in law firms. You will not find the rest of the results in it. Poor product and I thought Google was a poor product.
Very impressed way better than Google. Google is getting more dishonest day by day. (and doesn't track you)
I love you duck duck go!
I know it's probably childish excitement I get when I clear my history and I see the flames go up
But seriously, thanks for being so easy.
I know longer say "Google it"
Now I say, DUCK IT!
Some say what? I explain and a new convert is made.
Better than Google. Honest. Doesn't share with multiple sites. I hope. Doesn't manipulate data like Google does. Real not fake.
Duckduckgo claims to only provide ads based on what you currently search, however I had looked up Planned Parenthood, then I started seeing ads for Planned Parenthood when I was looking up mothball deodorizers. This was the only instance where I caught them tracking, but it still seems suspicious since they claim they're not like the rest...
Okay, great! I came over to DuckDuckGo today to search for a quote from Joseph Stalin about counting the votes and every result on the first page was from Snopes, USA Today, Politifact, etc. All ultra-liberal sources that all, of course, said Stalin never said 'it's who counts the votes that's important'. Okay, great! I see now. This is a site where 'people can't track you' but not a site where you can trust the unbiased nature of the search results! Just great! Back to Google with my ability to see through the BS!
Well, they had to go Mess with it and make it a lousy product. They used to give you the choice of maps but now they have some totally useless, utterly absolutely, can I make it more clear? Their "map" is a total joke. Give us back the choice of which preferred map we want to see. Also, I have to CONSTANTLY change my search back to safe since it CONSTANTLY changes back to moderate. Now, also Bing is constantly hijacking the searches. I blocked Bing because I hate it and it's creators and refuse to use any of their products any chance I get. Good Bye DuckDuckGo. Good try guys. Not really but... whatever.
Duckduckgo is perfect for anyone who wants to get the big boy google off there backs. It runs at the same speed as google and has pretty much the same features of the google browser with less privacy concerns.
I am so disappointed! I was really hoping this would work out. I have been working with the DuckDuckGo search engine for a couple of months and really wanted to make this my primary search engine because I cannot stand Google's spying. Unfortunately the DuckDuckGo search engine, on several occassions, could not return simple searches. For example, if I type in "time?", it gives me all sorts of irrelevant answers. Whereas when I type the same query in Google, it returns the exact match - the current time. I have tried several such simple queries. How do you expect to compete with Google if you cannot even return basic searches? You need to improve your algorithms. The privacy part of it is fantastic but browsers should be able to generate requested results, for the most part. That's what they are designed to do. DuckDuckGo is failing in this.
I've always been a Google girl but recently I've had trouble researching things on Google. Either they aren't showing stuff or it's so buried under biased results that it can't be found. DuckDuckGo has been an amazing resource for finding real and unbiased information. DuckDuckGo has replaced my Google widget and favorites bar bookmark.
Better than Google with privacy and without tracking. Any search engine that gives Google less control is a good thing.
