Not sure if all this negative feedback has made them improve. I want to commend Worldstores on their returns process. Received a damaged item from them which was disappointing but the ease of return has left a good impression. They gave a collection schedule 4 days after I reported the problem. Collection people arrived on the day. Money including delivery fee was back in Paypal account within 1 hr of the item being collected. I may still order from them in future.
UPDATE: contacting the CEO or any other team members and they'll either ignore you or refer you to the Customer Care team without ever responding to you personally. The Customer Care team just dismiss everything we say or ask, and didn't know the facts regarding how to clean the sofa as per the video and instructions on the Dunelm product page for the sofa. Michelle from the Customer Care team had to confirm the correct way to clean our sofa after she argued and accused us of not following the guidelines, based on wrong facts and details in the Emmiera report by Russell. Michelle from Customer Care just keeps telling us that she is going along with the wrong information and won't look into it any further or work out a resolution. We have tried taking this issue to West Yorkshire Trading Standards Service ADR scheme as per the Dunelm Complaints procedure. It states that if you are unhappy with the resolution from Dunelm, you can contact ADR... but the catch, if you try - you have to have consent from Dunelm that they'll participate. Dunelm has declined to participate and told us to go to Trading Standards instead. Just a heads-up for anyone considering the Carson Deep Sit Vivalife Stain-Resistant Fabric Corner Sofa from Dunelm. We bought it in November 2022 for £1,314.05, and it's been nothing but trouble. Here's what we've experienced: - Mould is growing inside the cushions—even the ones that haven't been cleaned. - Despite being advertised as stain-resistant, the sofa stains and turns blue/black when cleaned according to the provided instructions. - There's a strange black glitter-like substance that transfers to skin and is hard to remove. - Dunelm sent a technician who initially told us it was a manufacturing fault, but their final report falsely blames us for "using the wrong cleaning methods." The report is full of mistakes, including irrelevant advice about cleaning garden furniture! - The sofa cushions are supposed to be water-resistant, but they've clearly soaked up moisture, causing the mould—despite us following the instructions and air-drying the cushions. We're being accused of mistreating the sofa without any real proof, and we're stuck with a product that doesn't meet the standards of the Consumer Rights Act 2015. If you're looking for a sofa, I'd steer clear of this one.
I am horrified, never have I experienced such bad service from a store. I bought the Cuba Sofa bed specifically because it was "next day delivery", I needed it urgently for a surprise guest. The delivery was 4 days late but I wasn't notified even once. I tried to call the store multiple times at various times of the day but it said that they were always experiencing "high call volumes". Frankly speaking, that sounds like a lie. I had an easier time getting through to busy government offices. My calls weren't answered even after being on hold for 40 minutes but when it finally was- the lady on the phone sounded like she couldn't give a damn about me or my complaint. She sounded so removed and uninterested that I couldn't help but feeling insulted. She said she would forward my complaint to the delivery service who would get back to me. They never got back to me and my written complaint was ignored. But the worst thing was that when it had finally arrived ( 4 days later) after I complained to the delivery man on the phone, they had the nerve to write on the delivery receipt that they tried to deliver it on the 27th but we weren't in. I only ordered it on the 29th so needless to say, it's impossible that they tried to deliver it 2 days before. This was the last time I'm giving them my business.
The ottoman bed is appalling. The instructions are so complicated it took 3 hours to assemble, just to discover the hydraulics do not work. I asked for new hydraulics and was told they would be sent to me in 10-15 working days. I waited 20 working days and when i asked for a explanation they refused to explain and said they would refund me if they could collect the bed. They told me that i would have to take the bed apart again for collection and that they would not give me a collection time. I work a full time job so requested the bed was collected on a Saturday, I was very clear that I would not be able to take the bed apart until the Saturday and they said that should be fine as collection will be anytime after 9am. I get a phone call from the driver at 7am Saturday morning saying he is outside my house to collect the furniture, i told him that it hasn't been taken apart. World stores then said they will have to rebook me in the following Saturday. I spent 8 weeks sleeping on a mattress on the floor and my refund wasn't processed for another week. Even with working hydraulics this bed is terrible quality, the metal was so weak i could bend it with my hands, so god knows how it would support someones weight!
I ordered a shed through their SHEDSWORLD portal & was given a dely timeframe of 1-2 weeks. When I didn't rec delivery I 'phoned their CS & was told it would be del'd in another 1-2 weeks. That dely date came & went so I 'phoned again & was told by a manager that they couldn't give me any dely date! I 'phoned Rowlinsons (the manufacturer) who said the reason they couldn't deliver was that Worldstores hadn't released the order for dely, but they wouldn't give any further info. My guess was Worldstores hadn't paid them. I spoke to Worldstores who said there was a dispute with the manufacturer and they had no way of giving me a delivery date. I then cancelled the order.
AT NO TIME DID SHEDSWORLD/WORLDSTORES CONTACT ME ADVISING OF ANY PROBLEM WITH THE DELY.
The worst "customer service " experience ever anyway. Feeling almost too exhausted to write this. I've never left full reviews like this in the past but no one deserves the pain of dealing with this company and the company certainly doesn't deserve any customers.
We ordered 2 sofas on Aug 24th and was given a 2 week delivery time... plus paid extra for a Saturday delivery. After that we never heard back. Arow XL (yodel rebranded) were due to deliver it but had no record of it as the suppliers had it sitting unlabelled in thier warehouse for weeks. This info was divulged after 3 complaints via their complaints page and about 10 to 15 calls where I was on hold 30+ mins each and every time I called. No promised call backs received and no records kept by them recording half the calls or passing on any complaints. After finally receiving the delivery, they left it outside in the rain as they couldn't fit it through a normal doorway as the legs were assembled and the delivery guys weren't allowed to unwrap it even with us being there so they swiftly left us to it. Called one last time today to follow up on my complaint as I'd been told I can expect compensation. Of course they again claimed no record of it and tried to direct me back to the online complaints portal. When I said they never respond to that, the grumpy lady told me theyre randomly looked at by managers so I "might" heare back from them "in the next couple of months ".
Honestly, I went with this store as I was after a bargain and ill never do so again.
Do yourself a favour and order from a reputable company.
Saxon.
Order 2 heavy items, consignment says 2 men, Websit says next day delivery but nothing arrived, had to ring them and beg, then they deliver day after but bring only item. Worst of all I had to help delivery man carry good up the stairs. Have hurt my back and they do not care.
This company actually state that even if I was an elderly person aged 95 or ill, I still would have had to carry my own very heavy goods.
Online door delivery should be delivered and carried by delivery men, NOT THE CUSTOMERS. NEVER THE CUSTOMERS. Home delivery.
To your door it is Home. I do not understand how such bad company get away with such bad service and yet they still operating a business. We are not protected at all, more business more profit making more tax to the government pocket. So is this why we let all these bad companies keep running, on TV we see such bad restaurant serving disgusting food, lies about the product being fresh instead frozen food kept in freezers for months. These companies if cannot provide a good service should be shut down by authorities. Worldstores should be one of them.
We as part of this society we are way too quiet and everyone are alone in their battle against you name it traffic warden ticket, crazy phone bills and charges like crazy, bad service from many companies yet they continue to get rich and no one listen to us
It's ridiculous we all feel we have no voice because no one does anything
Come on everyone lets all wake up please. We have been grabbed by the balls really tight and we are all suffocating, let's have a say on the hard earned money we struggle to take home and nothing left to even have fun as the bills are way too high.
Companies want to get rich in one day
We suffer at the hand of everyone who are greedy and want big profit
Wake up wake up everyone, speaks up.
My money has been taken but there was no working form to arrange delivery. Are these sofas actually in existence?
I had truly awful service the first time around - a bookshelf, which was partially damaged post construction but not enough that I could not fix it myself with a bit of black gloss paint. Stupidly - after days on the phone to World Stores and their delivery company (getting nowhere and having correspondence ignored), I decided to order the matching item. So here we are a second time. I've taken a day off (which for me involves a flight home, not a few hours off from the office) - and I have a guaranteed delivery for Monday. It is now 4pm on Friday. I'd estimate another 45mins on the phone and they still cannot tell me whether or not this item is arriving on Monday, or even whether or not they are going to be able to tell me when it will arrive. It did finally arrive - again slightly damaged (not on the day I asked, not on the promised next day delivery service, and only after dozens of calls including one very unpleasant call to customer services where I told them to read some of the reviews that were being posted and they told me it was "only people like me who wrote reviews, and people like to complain). This company is a shambles. I don't feel that I've been defrauded, but it was close to impossible to arrange delivery and I needed these things in a rush. As for those recent suspiciously positive 5/5 reviews. Unless this company has been takn over and fndamentally changed, they cannot possibly be legit. So unless you are desperate, just don't do it to yourselves. Even IKEA on a bank holiday in the rain is better than this. I now need to find a bandage after repeatedly bashing my head against the World Stores brick wall. I would NEVER use this company again. I should have read the reviews in advance. I feel stupid for ordering a matching item knowing the dreadful service I had the first time around.
My experience with WorldStores couldn't have been much worse. I ordered a bed for delivery on a specific date and waited in for it all day but it didn't turn up. I received no word from them at all. I called at about 16:00 to see what was going on. After waiting on hold for about half an hour, I finally got through to someone who informed me that my bed would definitely be delivered that day. Several hours later the bed still had not turned up so I had to call again.
After 40 mins on hold I was told that the bed actually wasn't coming after all. The person on the other end was apologetic and agreed to my demand for compensation… which turned out to be £10… great, lost an entire day's work for £10.
In the end, I decided to cancel the order as well as another order I'd placed with them for a mattress as I no longer trusted them at all. That was yet another 40 mins on hold. Their hold music is played really quietly so I couldn't leave my phone and do other things during that time. I also had to wait until after the weekend as their customer service team doesn't work then! Amazing!
I was surprised I actually got my money back (after a ‘technical error' delay though) as I noticed people *******@WorldStores on Twitter saying they'd not received theirs.
Oh and money I got back was minus the compensation I mentioned earlier... so in the end I wasn't compensated for my lost work day at all which is an even bigger issue for my partner who works for himself. Time really is money for him.
Check their Twitter account if you would like more evidence – it's just reams and reams of complaints.
By contrast, I had to call Argos around the same time. My call was answered in less than 5 minutes by an adult who was able to fix my issue on the spot. How can any company in this day and age get it so wrong as WorldStores?!
Avoid. Avoid. Avoid! The cheaper prices aren't worth it!
I ordered a bed and it came as stated 2 days later. There was a box missing but the courier stated that their were 2 labels on 1 box and it was all there. When it came to putting the bed together it was found there was indeed a box missing containing the headboard and additional fixings.
I tried to contact Worldstores through their website route but had no joy. Then I discovered this website and another called Trustpilot. I rang a number suggested by another disgruntled customer as being cheaper: *******1259, I placed the phone on loudspeaker and left it on hold until someone answered (40mins) at first the assistant was uppity but I sympathised with him and said it must be terrible working for such a dreadful firm and dealing with all the complaints. The assistant was then very helpful and arranged for the first bed to be collected and a replacement delivered. He clearly carried out his obligations and within 48hrs the bed was collected and replacement delivered.
The replacement bed is of poor quality (you do get what you pay for in most circumstances but this one isn't worth a carrot). All the slats are bent and of very poor quality, The end caps that fit to the slats are squashed and fray the wood on the slats if you try to push them on, after being extremely careful and getting the end caps onto the slats they then don't fit to the frame securely because they are so misshapen. The metal base bar that holds the sides together has screws too long but even if they were shorter the inferior chipboard you are fixing them too is so thin the screws poke through the vinyl base and are a hazard.
Once put together because of all the issues the bed is unstable and not fit for purpose not forgetting the arterial bleed that could ensue should you brush up against the offending protruding screws.
I will update my review but at this stage I am unimpressed. Looking at prior reviews I am doubtful I will get a refund easily. If Worldstores do act promptly then I will accept that sometimes these things happen and that they are doing their best to help but with the access to customer service being so poor It makes me wonder?
Ordered goods 7/11/2013 3day delivery, two weeks later no goods, no answer to emails, phone calls, simply allowed to rip people off
We ordered rather an expensive 6 seater dining set from them. My husband received a text message confirming the delivery of the order on Wednesday, straight after that another text that we shouldn't be waiting for it because it isn't coming. This was in the evening when he already arranged taking a day off work.
The order did arrive on Thursday but to his surprise only 2 chairs were delivered instead of 6. After spending 45 min on hold trying to get through to the customer service, he was told by the agent that the order shows as delivered (!) and she isn't sure why only 2 chairs arrived. Well, how were we supposed to know?!? He arranged another delivery for this Saturday. As we didn't know when the order would come, we couldn't make any plans for the day.
Today, the driver turned up with only 2 chairs not 4! He was rather rude, kept saying he doesn't have 2 boxes only one and pushed us into accepting and signing for the delivery - why was there no option as signing for it as incomplete/damaged? He drove off.
I then rang World Stores, spent 30 min on hold and the call didn't lead anywhere. The agent said that the delivery is showing 1 parcel out of 1 (yes, I know this, I was present at the delivery) and said she can't do anything because customer services are not in over the weekend. Whose customer services?!? Do they have multiple customer service departments or what?
I demanded a compensation, she said she can't talk to me because I'm not an account holder.
I then requested a phone call not an email from their customer service manager, she said they can't call me because I'm not an account holder. I then asked the manager to ring my husband, I was turned down again.
I asked for the name of the manager, I was yet again turned down as she said that she doesn't know who will be working next week!
The the agent refused to give me her full name saying "I'm not obliged to do so"
After 2 deliveries we still haven't received everything so will need to take another day off work and frankly, I'm expecting more issues to happen.
Their customer service is absolutely disgusting, this was our first order and definitely the last one and I will be discouraging all our friends and family from shopping with them.
The sooner they go bust, the better!
Awful company, on hold each time for at least 40 minutes. Hung up on twice. No refund for wrongly delieverd product. DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS COMPANY!
No goods delivered, no response to emails, no answer to phones. Thankfully paid by paypal so able to get my money back. DON'T BUY FROM THESE CROOKS!
Very bad experience!
I have bought a mattress on 29th September that has to be delivered on 1st october (a "next day delivery" or "chosen date delivery").
I wasted all the day to wait for this mattress.
Next day the customer care (30 min at phone waiting for an answer) only told me that I would receive a phone call from the carrier the week later (the week later? What about the "next day date delivery"?)...
I wrote them on the form in the website to have some help.
They answered me only 7 days later (during which the mattress has not arrived, and nobody has called me).
I answered to this email proposing for a new date on monday 12th october. The answer of this email was on 12th (?!?!?) proposing me another date: "Wednesday the 15th" (wednesday of that week was the 14th! They are also unable to look at the calendar).
Then I answered that for me was ok to be delivered for "wednesday the 14th", but unfortunately the customer care person meaned "Thursday the 15th" on his email...
I finally proposed for another day, monday the 19th (because we can't stay at home again on the day they had proposed) trying to be gentle and pointing out that for a "next day delivery" people can usually organize it for the day after (that was 14th). In this final proposal I write them to be sure about the delivery, and I was reassured about that.
What do you think? That I had finally received the mattress on monday 19th?
No... another day waiting uselessly...
And my back pain is increasing...
It was a very waste of time for me and my girlfriend too!
We can't wait all these days off to wait for a mattress!
Conclusion:
More than 20 days for a "next day delivery" are an impossible thing to think about, for a web site that is deemed among the best e-commerce in the UK.
Be sure that I will never buy anything from WoldStore and its affiliates websites!
Order got lost. Emails are ignored. No one answers your calls. Never known anything like it.
This is the very worst of companies bad service and faulty goods just awful!
