I am not sure why people have done bad reviews for this. I had a great experience. Yes there were some minor issues with the clothing but I communicated my concerns and they replied. You can always contact them with your concerns if you have any so that they improve. We should realize that they are doing a great job for the Muslim community by promoting modesty and be less critical.
I was so disappointed in the dresses I bought from them, the fabrics are so flimsy and cheap, one of them tore the second time I wore it. Their sales are so fake because the clothes are not even worth the sales price.
Where do i start. Well I've bought a bunch of items from "worst essence" with "express order" and I've received my package a month later with two items missing, ironically the most expensive item of them too.
My issue was I spoke with these untrained
"Worst essence" costumer service for 10 times! Yes folks ten times! I've emailed about my items several times I've messaged about my items too.
To add into my frustration the representatives in "worst essence" closed the phone on me, I called back since I'm in the east coast I know damn well they are 3 hours ahead but suddenly they closed the line when I called back?!
And the the most infuriating of all is when the Half a$$ package arrived the clothes smelled horribly it was also damped as If it had been damaged by water or something of that sort, never mind the cheap fabric. IM NEVER, EVER BUYING FROM THIS UNPLEASANT AND SHADY BUSINESS.
* who ever reads this trust me you'll thank me later!
I will stay away from this company. They really are hit or miss. Emailing their support got me no response, calling them worked. Even after I sent them photos with measurements of how my item did not look like what was pictured online (they told me to send these photos)--sleeves were very wide, not cinched/fitting as they were pictured online--they told me the item was correct (without telling me how, despite my detailed explanation and photos of how it was defective). I've emailed them back reminding them to please respond to my inquiry of why the item is correct, and was not satisfied with the paraphrased explanation of "the production manager said it was correct". They have been kind enough to allow me to return the item. But I have to pay return shipping, which is not worth it for me. I had spent the extra money to get this item altered to my height, but at the end of the day, I'm very unhappy. Eventually they've given me a small gift card, but I will not be shopping with them again, because it isn't worth me constantly having to guess if I will receive an appropriate item or not. They do ship some items on their website from China and India, not sure if that contributes to size differences.
It is really well made and looks fantastic. I adore the smooth texture and the depth of the black. 2xl fit me great because I'm 5'3" and 200 pounds. For sure I'll purchase more!
Beware I ordered something for Eid 2020 a long time ahead and they kept telling me it would arrive on time, each time I asked where it might be. Then I received it way after Eid and in the wrong color and the fabric was not even close to what they described so I put in a PayPal claim and they would not refund me unless I returned the item at my OWN EXPENSE!
Now I have confirmation, from my postal service tracking info, that they received my item last week but they have not told PayPal they received it so I am still waiting for a refund!
Unreal, they are Dishonest and Vindictive. Not what I expected from an Islamic site. May Allah forgive them.
I placed an order and the items came from india. They lied about value of items in the package to avoid paying duty. They put value down as 10% of what I actually paid. When I contacted them I was told what I would get as a refund if I returned. With return postage it worked out I would get back 30% of what I paid. You don't get back shipping costs, fair enough but why should I pay for duty if they didn't. I have the dhl slip proving they paid no duty. I am so fortunate I paid using paypal. I opened a dispute and was told to return items for a full refund. As soon as tracking showed items were delivered paypal paid the full amount back into my account and they actually paid me the amount I paid for return postage after uploading proof. So I was not out of pocket. Please avoid this company. They are lying to dhl about the value of items... I have kept proof of this and they do not deliver what you pay for. None of the items looked the way they did on the site. If you do buy from they use a payment method on which you know you can claim back what you paid.
I should have read the reviews before making such a huge purchase. SMH
Customer Service is non existent! My order is STILL "unfulfilled"... I ordered from Modanisa AFTER I ordered from East Essence and got my package delivered!
Aaaaand Modanisa is MUCH cheaper!
Save yourself, don't order... just head on over to Modanisa for BETTER clothes, BETTER service and MUCH quicker response!
East Essence is one place that sells a mesmerising range of Arabic jubbas. You'll definitely be missing a trick if you try any other website for your jubbah other than this amazing website.
The marketplace products are ABSOLUTE scam. Nothing like the pic and extreme cheap quality! Also eastessence has very unfair return poilicies! So BEWARE! Steer clear
I have been shopping at EastEssence for years now. I am impressed again and again with the quality of the fabrics and the design. I am tall and big so I always need to special order the sizes. They always work perfectly. The hems fall right where I want them. The sleeves are always long enough for me. The coverage is always modest. I am so pleased. I spend too much money there and yet I only get a few things each year and have not gotten many of the items that I really want. Like the really beautiful abayas. You have to watch your fabrics but this is true for any store. I find the cottons much sturdier and higher quality than most cottons from other stores. One time they got my order wrong on one item and I didn't bother to return it because their return policy is complicated and not worth the trouble. The only complaint I have is it takes forever to receive my order, usually 3 weeks. So don't try shopping 2 weeks before Eid in hopes of getting your new Eid clothes on time. Plan ahead.
I ordered a burkini because I had ordered from East Essence a few years back and had a good experience. After the order I saw these low reviews and complaints about clothes being too small, fabric quality terrible off the marketplace or shipment taking over a month, so I braced myself foe the worst.
Thankfully I was able to stay on top of the shipment through the DHL 800 number. It showed up pretty quickly. I didn't order this off the marketplace or wherever the fabric is thin, so the fabric seems to be good standard fabric for swimming. I had ordered a size up because I've had so many things show up too small, especially from Asian standards. This was true to the size chart. I even wish I hadn't ordered one size up.
Everything worked out well. It was shipped from India which was surprising since there used to be an office in California. I got it less than two weeks after the day I placed the order, so that worked out well.
Maybe it depends on what is ordered, or maybe standards have changed. I will order another burkini in the future. I had far better results than I'd had on some other order sites.
Tip for consumers:
I've seen a lot of complaints about people not liking the fabric/sewing in their marketplace (or some similar name) items. Would suggest not ordering from that section of the site. I did not, and the sizing and quality seems very good.
I love everything at Eastessence. I have shopped here since 5 years and the Abayas I bought 5 years back look just the same. My closet is just filling up with their clothes because the old ones are not fading or tearing. I especially like Koshibo as it is very durable and needs no maintenance. Las year they launched the Korean items briefly and I managed to snap a couple. The quality was superb and the fabrics feel so soft and comfy. The garments are TRULY modest ( and I mean truly modest because most of the other Islamic stores have no idea what modest is)
I have so much from Eastessence now that I will have to conduct a donation drive at my local masjid before I can buy more. Bad business for them but good for muslimahs on budget. LOl.
Love Eastessence.
P. S Just wanted to let others sisters know that they are a Non profit. So it is just plain garbage when you read people saying they cheated them. I have returned a ton of stuff several times and got my full refund each time. As long as the tags are on they never complain or question. So sisters get real. Stop maligning a good company which is a Non profit working for muslims. I guess the number of good reviews prove my point.
Literally one of the worst online shops ever. I ordered 2 abayas, only 2, and one of them weren't even the listing that I ordered. It was a poor quality, too short, and an ill fitting abaya that was so far off it looked like I made it in my house with sequins and glue. I wanted to recieve them for the Eid and it completly ruined my mood. I live in the south so I have zero options for stores I can go to for an abaya and since it literally came 2 days before Eid, I didnt have time to order one from a different site. So I payed express shipping and the entire tracking process was disorganized and confusing. They do not pay your shipping return fees, they are slow to respond, and the quality of the abays were pure trash. I probably would have gotten a better deal on Ebay. I can't give zero stars so I gave them one.
Tip for consumers:
Do not be fooled by the high rating reviews, they're probably from their friends, family, and/or paid individuals.
I ordered 2 abayas from this site, I received one and was extremely disappointed. Poor quality runs small and not true to size, not worth the money! I tried several times to contact them requesting a live person, I received no phone call or contact of a person directly. I want to return or exchange the size and can't, I am stuck with an item that was a waste of money and I will never wear! The second abaya I wanted to cancel but since I can't get a live person or a callback, it shipped today and I am now stuck with this one as well! I do not recommend this site, if enough people from purchasing from them, then maybe they will figure out how to run a business correctly and accommodate those of us who are contributing to their business by producing a customer service team and phone number to actually contact! These abayas are poorly made and not of the description provided by the website! They are a cheap-looking and not of quality! I will never order from this site and I will not recommend them to anyone! Word by mouth is a powerful tool!
Beautiful clothing. Exceptional prices. Wonderful customer service. Love EastEssence and have been a loyal customer since last 2 years
I love East Essences. All the product we have received thus far has been true to US sizing EXCEPT for the Marketplace items which are being marketing as "special sizing" with an unintelligible chart on the pictures for the item. As it turns out, after some convo with their chat teams, they tell me that there are NO marketplace items that will fit a US 2x. I wish they had been clear about that before we bought hundreds of dollars worth of un-returnable clothing for my mother. I have communicated with them more than once about this business practise of selling a size of clothing marked 2x that is actually a few sizes smaller. Their response has been universally, "we can't help what the other vendor (Marketplace) does." I think maybe they can but don't find it serious enough yet to deal with. In any case this is a truly good outfit and I've gotten LOTS of things I love from them. Until they sort out these growing pains, though, I won't be buying ANYTHING marked "Marketplace".
Shazia, I'd love a decent response that tells me how East Essences plans to fix this.
Ordered 4 dresses size xxl cause thats my size. They could easily fit a 5xl person. Was way too big. Also the quality leaves something to be desired
I'm disappointed in my 4 Dresses. The fabric wrong plus it dusty looking and pretty much poorly made.

Abaya arrived very late when I already left for Umrah.
I did not open package yet, as no need. Unable to return as shipped from India via DHL.
I have ordered clothes several times from East Essence over the years. I have noticed that cheap items (less than $20) look cheap and never end up looking like the website photos. I have had better luck with pricier items (I ordered a georgette fabric abaya for $69 a few years ago, and it's beautiful). However, you are taking a gamble that if things don't work out perfectly, you will have to deal with their horrible customer service. Their website says they are based in Newark, Ca, but everything I've ever ordered comes to me from India. After dealing with customer service yesterday, I also believe they are located in India. I had an issue with a package being delivered to the wrong house by DHL. I didn't know what to do, so I emailed customer service to tell them what happened. Someone named Rashmi K. Emailed me and began her email "Dear Customer." She then attached links to DHL's website showing delivery and signature of my package. I had already explained that was my issue! I responded to her and asked if her company makes an effort to help customers in situations like this, and she sent me another "Dear Customer" email that simply said they would contact DHL and let me know. Luckily, DHL sorted out their error and got my package to me. The order in question was a $14 sale tunic. I wasn't looking for a refund. Some empathy would have been nice. Now I know where I would be calling/emailing if I had a real issue with an order. Nope. I will never do business with East Essence again.
***Edited after site response***
Shazia, I appreciate your response. The fact that the escalation process was explained to me here instead of during my interaction with customer service is precisely my issue. When I contacted DHL directly, I was addressed by name, not "Dear Customer." The representative assured me she would assist with the lost package and asked me for additional details. This is why I incorrectly assumed they were the ones who corrected the issue.
Bragging about your excellent customer service record to someone with a complaint is not helpful. It would have been reassuring to know about your order replacement policy while I was corresponding with Rashmi.
Hello Marisa: I apologize for the inconvenience you had to encounter with this order. Rashmi is one of our customer service reps and she did escalate the situation with our shipping team which in turn brought it up to DHL. That is how DHL resolved this issue. I understand that you were concerned but whenever a package is lost we cover the full cost of the package and or ship a replacement for free. But for that we need to open a case with DHL. Now if DHL has a signature proof of delivery they are not responsible for lost packages and we end up covering the tab. We do encounter customers that receive their packages and still claim they didn't and very often. That is why our team vets every lost package claim. And yes we do have customer service teams in US, Malaysia and India and we ship our products from 7 different countries. We promote small muslim businesses worldwide through our marketplace program. We have an open feedback line which asks customers to provide us with feedback. Amongst all Islamic clothing companies or any online clothing shops we are ranked highest for customer service. We have a 4.5 ranking on Google reviews which is collected from shoppers who have shopped with us. To top it all we are Not For Profit company and we work very hard to raise $$ to aid our projects in the community. We don't have any reason to be unfair with our customers as our core philosophy is to work for the community
Totally satisfied with Eastessence till now. They always surprised me with their awesome new ranges of abaya and hijabs.
Thanks so much Jawaria!
When I returned my order they gave me a store credit. I paid with my credit card and asked for refund back to my card, They want your money.
Eastessence is excellent. I am shocked by all these bad reviews! I buy all of my tops and abayas from them. I NEVER had a problem with any abaya being the wrong length and I ALWAYS have them adjusted because I am tall. I live in a hot, humid climate that is very cold in parts of winter. The rayon fabric is my favorite for the heat. It is cooler than cotton or linen. The jersey 100% cotton is perfect for winter. It is thicker than average and i still wear the ones I bought years ago. Most tops have deep pockets, which I love too. The sizing has always been accurate. I have bought over 150 items and only had ONE item that was messed up. It was a prayer hijab that the seamstress had messed up so the head opening was only a few inches wide Lol. It was obviously an anomaly that was easy to fix. As far as shipping... I live in Texas and my packages always arrive before 3 weeks; the smaller orders sometimes arrive in a week.
The sales are great. There are new items often. I am very careful in ordering Marketplace items because they do not follow Eastessence sizing and are much smaller. I have never had a problem there either and I have found some very unique items.
I get compliments from non-Muslims often. They like the longer tops, which look super with skinny jeans or leggings. I have shared the website with them because you simply cannot find these lengths on store racks of you are tall. They all cover my rear and the longer ones are fun fashion.
Honestly, I am somewhat suspicious of all the bad reviews. It seams like a smear campaign instead of honest reviews.
My only suggestion is for Eastessence to offer more "cool" colors for us customers who have cool complexions. I like more cool blues and pinks. Most of the pinks are slightly peachy. That's it... my one "complaint". I did not mention the quality. I literally do not wear these clothes out. The rayon is most fragile but is the reason it is so breathable. I was mine on gentle and do not over dry them. If you over dry them, they will shrink but all it takes is a misting of water and they return to their original shape and have no wrinkles. If you like modest clothing and swimwear, you will be happy with Eastessence.
Tip for consumers:
Measure your favorite piece and order the corresponding size. The clothing measurements are accurate. It is the best way to get the proper fit. Do not use body measurements. Just follow their instructions.
Kashibo is a disaster fabric in the humidity. It does not breathe but it does hang lovely and is extremely durable. Stay away from poly knit also. The crepe is lovely.
Always order the amount needed to avoid shipping fees.

Hello
I'll be honest, In this case you kind of get what you pay for. I have bought many items from EE, some are good and some are bad. The most important thing is look at the fabrics they are made out of on the description. Also, if it says a lining is recommended, wear the lining because some of the fabrics are pretty thin! Some are pretty thick also and kinda make swoosh noises when you wear them (kashibo?) But overall if you are a money conscient muslimah and need something to wear, I'd go with EE. BUT like I said be careful, read the descriptions, know what fabrics you like and dont like, know what fit you want modest or not, be informed or you can make some kinda dumb purchases here, like me. I accidentally bought some batwing jilbab too big since I wasn't being aware of the sizing. So be careful. Overall, I think the higher priced items are higher quality. I bought some cheaper things there and they ripped, the stitches ripped, they werent sized well, too thin, et cetera. But overall I'd recommend this site to anyone looking for new islamic clothes. The best point is they cater to all sizes. I wish sometimes their prints were more for the younger women and not so floral old fashioned.

Hello Hafsa: We never charge for duty if the order is refunded. So that piece of information is incorrect. Also Paypal only refunds you for the order value and you are responsible for shipping the goods back to the merchant. The shipping refund cost went to you directly from EE without us being held for it. We are fair business and we understand customers have their choices. Some may love something we sell and some may not hold the same opinion but we stand behind our products one and all.
Finally about the lower invoicing, some countries like Canada, UK, Germany assess duties well over 300-400% of the items value which will make it impossible for the orders to be shipped internationally. Obviously we cannot foot the larger duty amount and we don't expect our customers to so we do adjust our billing to reflect 30-40% of the value (not 10% as you mentioned) Please remember a big part of our costs is the shipping which we subsidize for our clients so that cannot be added to the product cost for duty calculation. Hope that clarifies your concern on the lower value as well.
