I made the mistake of placing multiple orders w these people and they have contacted me days later (and after having already charged my card) to tell me that the items were so popular that they are not in stock anymore but to let them know if I want to try to get on the list for their "NEXT" shipment -- and in the meantime they want to hold on to my money... weeks go by and they send an email canceling the order(s) after all - yet have not refunded a single penny that they charged me. B E W A R E of this site!

Placed an order for a Safavieh crank umbrella for our patio table. Was really looking forward to eating outside with shade, and of course like the other reviews said it was not available. They did notify me right away and I cancelled the order. Everyone one else was out of stock as well and I asked for a discount if I could order through them and they gave a 10% discount, which I was happy about and placed the order. Fast forward almost 7 weeks later and the umbrella arrived. To be fair, they did tell me it was going to be 7 to 8 weeks because everyone and their brother is ordering umbrellas because of this lockdown. I'm not thrilled that I got the umbrella when it's almost fall, but that's not really their fault as they did tell me it was delayed. Overall it was a pretty straightforward transaction.

I ordered from this company, and a month later they contacted me and stated that the item was on backorder and I was guaranteed a bed in the next shipment a month and a half later. I waited a month and a half, not only did I not receive the item they canceled the order and said it was due to insufficient stock. So they had my money tied up for over 2 months. I still haven't received my refund of almost $600. I'm telling you right now, do not use this company they are shady and horrible to try to speak with. No one answers the phone. They in my opinion suck. Stay far away. Run as fast as you can!

NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER buy from this company. After waiting four months to receive the product, it comes with the most important part missing, which means it still cannot be used. Customer service was absolutely horrible, that is, even if they acknowledged your e-mail, which, by the way, is the ONLY way to contact them. They don't give out their phone number. Umm, wonder why that is? After about a month, we finally received our missing piece. The product, at best, is shabby quality.

Be aware before you order from English Elm that you will not be refunded or treated well should you need to return a product. And it's VERY expensive to ship to California. I ordered a file cabinet that was delivered with right/left side panels that were the same so it was impossible to assemble it. It cost $107 to ship back to California and I'm being treated very poorly as I inquire if I'll be reimbursed. Unprofessional, accusatory responses to my email inquiries and no process to elevate concerns. I'm not even sure if I'll receive credit for my return, let alone the shipping I incurred to return it. BUYER BEWARE

Finally "the boss" at Star shipping (Rick) with some weight took over and after a few additional missteps, "got er done", for the good old boys down there in NC; it got delivered (product was as advertised otherwise).
Hats off to Rick and Thanks
Seete is just fine but English Elm, who has some nice stuff to order, needs some customer service in-training. To me service is as important as price; stop the sales puffing and "deliver".

Ordered a 3K+ piece of unique furniture over 8 weeks ago and still no delivery! Over 20 emails sent with only gratuitous replies of no real help; only proactive email from them concerned some ridiculous post-facto requirements for return/refusal/cancellation. Had to contact shipper myself who is now jerking me around as well! (nothing pro-active from shipper either re: tracking)
Does this business really exist or am I caught in some sham scam deal?

Purchased Taos southwest 7 piece comforter set. Looks beautiful until closer inspection shows comforter had multiple cloth tears which have been sewn shut. Made in China!

Awful and dishonest company. I would avoid purchasing anything here.
They updated their return policy mid way through my claim to avoid taking responsibility for a defective item. Their policy now outlines that the pictures can be inaccurate and materials can differ! (see pics of the swirls on the item and tell me how this is normal)
They first offered me $50 off my item to which I said no to as it doesn't fix the defect. Upon escalating the case further, they took 2 weeks to get back to me saying they had to contact the manufacturer. After following up 3 times they finally got back to me but not with the manufacturers response (because did they really contact the manufacturer?) instead with a local decision that they deemed my item not defective, pointing me to their updated policy which in short voids them being accountable for any defect. So all I'm subject to is the standard return which means shipping a heavy piece of faulty furniture back costs more than the furniture itself, and you have to arrange delivery which no standard courier will take due to the weight.

I could escalate this further with screenshots to show their policy page changes before and during my claim but its of more value to cut my losses and use my time to write this to warn others to avoid such a company so they do not have the same experience I did.

Most of their products are third party and can be found elsewhere under a different name if you do a reverse google image search.

I ordered 2 nightstands for $2,800 in February. When I placed the order, it said it was in stock: that was not true; when I called to inquire, I was told that it was out of stock until April. They offered me a small credit for the delay and I fell for the trap. April came and the item was not received. They kept my money all this time.

In May the nightstands arrived. They were poorly packed & one of them was badly scratched. They don't have a replacement until July and they won't take them back. After days of fighting with them, they are charging me a restocking fee and freight. On the other nightstand. Where has customer service gone? They even had the audacity to say that they would send someone to repair the scratch!

Time to call the bank and the Better Business Bureau & to set this company straight!

buyer beware, Covid is not an excuse for poor customer service and these company holding onto your money for months,

I had a very good experience with English Elm. I purchased two counter stools and a counter height table by Safavieh and everything was fine. Sure, delivery was not like Amazon Prime, I did have to wait four days but the items were rather large and it was expected. I came to the SiteJabber and saw the poor ratings and ran right away, but they offered a discount and so I gave it a chance thinking I could get a refund if things went south. Not only did things not go south the experience was BETTER than most other places I've shopped.

Tip for consumers:
Wait for a discount via email.

Bad that we can't show more photos, this is the sofa I bought with white glove delivery service paid a extra $175 for that, and just dumped in the room not assembled, or even know if it works or what it looks like, the worst service the worst experience, can't get any help only bought because they promised delivery in 2 weeks, because it was in stock item, again not true arrived today bought 12 July, wish I read reviews before buying from this company and the delivery service was a nightmare they called AM DELIVERY, the online sale service girl was very sweet and would respond diligently until all was paid... and as soon you need them good luck they wipe their hands and say deal with shipper good luck getting any reply from them and read the reviews

I ordered furniture for 6211 never received an order number I tried contacting them and noticed there was no phone number. I immediately looked them up and saw about 20 dissatisfied customers I called my bank and charges were reversed. They then started calling everyday telling me it was too late to cancel the order they will give me 20% discount if I clear it with my bank. I told them I was no longer interested in doing business with them. I found the exact same furniture and purchase it from a company I thoroughly checked out this time a week after my money was returned. Three weeks later my bank took the 6211 back out of my account stating English Elm said they delivered it. I told the bank that was not true. Where is my signature that it was delivered? Where is a picture showing it was delivered? Why would I order the exact furniture from a company a week later that cost 1200 more? I have a camera on my home what day did they delivered it? This company is a Big SCAM! I'm out of over 6211. I am so upset! Who would order the same furniture 2 times in a week and pay more for it! I need the tv reporter to call me. 0 rating I hate they make you choose a star before submitting 0000

Order of the Rowan Jr media center by Greenington Furniture purchased through English Elm: After numerous order status issues due to product style availability it became necessary to call the manufacturer myself. I located a style/configuration of the product I wanted as English Elm was not equipped with even the barest minimum of proactive problem solving. My order was finally initiated and the lead time for delivery was 3-4 weeks. No problem as everyone has supply chain issues right now. On week five English Elm sends an order cancellation notice via email with no explanation. I follow up with them and then Greenington only to learn that the item is available and ready to ship from the manufacturer warehouse. Six more emails and English Elm is unresponsive aside from telling me I can re-order the item and have it placed on back order. Avoid the hassle. Find another vendor. In my case I went with Old Bones Co. They were speedy, responsive and communicative and excel in all areas where English Elm failed.

I wish I had read reviews about English Elm before I bought from them. I was looking for an ottoman which was back ordered everywhere else, but English Elm's site didn't say anything about it being back ordered or out of stock, so I went ahead and bought it. I got a confirmation email but didn't hear anything else for 3 days. After 3 days I received an email saying that they don't actually have it in stock and won't be receiving any stock until August and they wanted to put me on a wait list. Umm, no, I'm not waiting 5 months for something you told me you had now. I tried calling but never got through to anyone and they didn't call me back. I sent an email and cancelled my order and got my money back in a few days, so that's good I guess? So if you're looking for a company that will take your money for an item they don't actually have, ask you to wait an extra 5 months for it, not respond to your calls, but return your money in a somewhat timely manner, then English Elm is perfect for you!

I purchased a rug and they have took money out of the account, two days later I received an email stating it was canceled as item is out of stock even though in their site was still available tried numerous of times calling no one ever answered the phone, thru e-mail communication that took a whole day to answer few questions I asked to be called no one called me, I asked for a different size of the rug they said it doesn't come at that size even though I have screen shots of their site offering the size, there was really no way to reason or make anything happen positively so I asked for my money back, wish I could give 0 start only reasons I bought i confused them for west elm

Customer service is non-existent. Order at your peril, they won't tell you they don't even have an item until you've given them payment. SMH.

Placed an order for 2 chairs. They took the money out of my account and then wrote me days later that they did not have the chairs in stock. If you didn't have them in stock the money should not have came out of my bank account. 7 days later I still don't have a refund, I have called several times and cannot get in touch with anyone, I did email and Melisa said the money was never taken out when it was definitely taken out. She said to ease my mind I should call my bank, so I did and they confirmed that English Elm has not refunded my money yet on their end. DO NOT BUY FROM THEM!

The customer service team reached out to me saying the item I ordered is out of stock and provided me options to switch. When I replied with my option, they then replied in a very rude manner saying that the item is out-of-stock as well. Why did you offer me the option that is not available? They then canceled my order without letting me know. Terrible inventory management - is it that hard to just deactivate the unavailable listings? TERRIBLE SHOPPING EXPERIENCE, WILL NOT RECOMMEND TO ANYONE.

I purchased a modern covered cat litter box house back in February 2022. Due to supply chain issues, my product did not arrive until April 9th. After using the litter box for 6 months, the unit is falling apart. The laminated wood is separating, the vented door has fallen off of the frame, and the unit in general, does not support a $200 purchase. I reached out to customer service at English Elm, who told me I needed to contact the manufacturer as there was nothing they could do. The manufacturer (phone number provided by English Elm) said they were just a distributor, and once 30 days had past, there is nothing they could do for me; I needed to go back to English Elm. I did learn that this "manufacturer" is simply a 3rd party logistics company that purchases products from overseas. That would explain the quality of the product. They could provide me with replacement parts, but I would be responsible for the cost. Going back to English Elm, they proceed to tell me they "understand" but it has been more than 30 days since my purchase and they were not willing to help. I have purchased a product that, if a return or defect were going to happen, it had to be within 30 days of the receipt of the product. Not sure how one would know that, and apparently it is written in their return policy. However, there is no mention of a defective product, which is what this is. Absolutely horrible customer service, and their supply chain is at least 2 deep. Consider purchasing household furniture, etc from another source. 30 days may not be enough to see how long something will hold up. I wasted $200!

Tip for consumers:
Consider purchasing from a different company! Company does not want to help you beyond 30 days, regardless if your product is defective or falls apart. They "pass" the buck from one person to the next, only to tell you they understand but can't do anything for you.

I ordered the Tommy Bahama Kingstown Regiment Huntboard for $1,899.97 from English Elm in early June. It's website says delivery within "8 to 13 business days." Two months later, a very damaged looking box was dropped off in my foyer. The delivery driver told me it was just from where the folks at the warehouse opened the box to inspect the contents before promptly leaving. I unboxed the very heavy buffet and my heart sank. It was not only broken across the front but the irregular-shaped wood piece which had broken off the front had small nails evidencing where someone, somewhere had previously attempted to repair it. That's what English Elm took 2 months to send me. A broken and repaired and broken again $2,000 buffet. I immediately emailed English Elm with photos and asked for help getting the enormous packaging and broken furniture out of my foyer. I said it had to be gone within 5 days as I had company coming. I said, otherwise, I would be forced to drag the 400 pound piece of furniture and its packaging to my front yard. I was warned by "Andrew N." not to remove anything. 5 days later, and it's still sitting in my foyer. English Elm has gone radio silent. Never again. Run, don't walk away from this shady operation.

I ordered $1000+ worth of chairs. They sent the completely wrong chairs from what was ordered and customer service is impossible to contact. They dont even return calls.

I ordered with English Elm today. I am moving next week and needed a new headboard. I loved the look of English Elm's products and website so I decided to order, EVEN THOUGH I got not estimated arrival date when I placed my order. A few hours later I received an email that the headboard I ordered will not be available until FEBURARY of 2022. I suggest English Elm should update their website and let customers know if the product they want is even in stock! Will NOT be ordering from them again.
