“Really bad customer service”

I have to say after today I'm seriously looking for another energy supplier and I will be putting this review on all the review sites I can... This morning Saturday August the thirteenth I woke up put the water on and it was charging me day rates in the off peak period(this was 07.00) as I know because I budget very well and make sure I don't use what I don't have to... I then what's apped Eon at 07.26 no reply so at 12.20 I messaged them on Facebook and Twitter again no reply it is now 16.33... How can a company have three portals to contact them and when you do it's over NINE HOURS and still no reply. Over four hours for Facebook and Twitter this is the worst example of customer services I have ever experienced... Charging me double the price, I reach out to you and your customer service and nothing... I would not recommend this company to my worst enemy

Back in 2019 they gave me a bill for 930 pounds said it was my overusage after refusing to pay for months and arguments. They gave me the final actual which was 400 pounds. Few weeks ago they they send me a bill for 43 pounds. And said it was form 2019. Today I got a letter referring me to debt collect agency for 53 pounds. All I can advise to whomever reading this please stay away from this supplier... they will drag u down to hell

After the winter period ended, that a lot of us have really struggled with because of the energy crisis. I rang EON to refund me the £380 credit I had on my account, now we're entering the warmer months and I use very little energy at the house. They told me that's fine, but will need an up to date meter reading before they can issue a refund… this was done immediately as I'm on a smart meter. I then received a mini statement on the account to prove my latest usage and was then told the refund will take 2-3 weeks. Fast forward 2 weeks and my money was still not in the account, so I contacted them again. I was told the money should be in my account within the next 7 days. I'm now at 4 weeks and contacted EON again, only to be told I can't have my money as they need another up to date reading on my account. What right do they have to withhold my money and expect me to beg for it back into my account.
The other thing to point out is that I had to increase my monthly payments, to ensure enough was being paid into the account, yet I'm still in credit by £100's already! Criminal behaviour and again shows how little this energy company think of their customer.

They waste your time and give terrible customer service. Chloe who is a complaints manager seems to take pleasure in making things as hard as possible
And shows levels of stubbornness I have never witnessed before
STAY AWAY FROM THEM AT ALL COSTS

2nd attempt today to get a smart meter installed (largely for Eon's benefit) failed. 1st attempt, nobody came, no warning or satisfactory explanation. Today engineer called but "tried for 5 mins and could not raise me" - despite the fact that it was obvious that I was there (lights on & car in the drive) and was never more than a few yards from the door. This follows a similar exercise to get a new Gas meter fitted when they came on the wrong day (internal Eon error) and then failed on the next appointment. On that occasion I finally found a serious contact who got the issue finally resolved within a couple of days - and that is the issue. Good customer service involves sorting things when they go wrong and leaving a customer with issue resolved and happy that they appear to matter. Not so with the Smart meter - after not arriving the first time a "Priority" appointment was almost 1 month and they said that was very good! Similarly after the 2nd - although I was offered earlier appointments I could not be there on those days and no attempt whatsoever was made to determine the dates I could manage.

We moved house and Eon were providing the gas and electricity. They would not have been my choice. The first interaction with customer services (when I finally got to chat with someone) the woman couldn't write English well, even to the point of saying something as a negative when it should have been a positive. I explained the situation and she just didn't understand. She then explained she had issues and couldn't help it. Bizarre. Another person took over.

Then after eventually moving to a new supplier I get a final bill that is estimated. How can that be possible?

I contact customer services on live chat and eventually get the bit to put me through to a human. I wait for 45 minutes. The operator then says "Hello, I am reading your comments so far." 2 minutes later they put a message saying that as I hadn't responded they were ending the chat and cut it off.

Later I get a text message asking how the service was giving a 0 to 10 rating. I give 0 and it replies saying that I am not in a survey.

Absolutely terrible experience. If I could give no starts I would. I have been waiting 8 months to have a gas smart meter fitted at my house. I had to reschedule a couple of appointments. But i have been chasing for a new appointment since December 21. No appointments available was the answer I kept receiving, until I sent a new email today. To get the response from the same customer service agent I have been speaking to for the past 8 months that he has now chased it and has found out I cant get a smart meter put in my house. This is because I already have an electric smart meter in the house and because they weren't installed together I can't have the gas meter.
Absolutely appalling customer service. Very disappointed.

DO NOT USE EON - I DO NOT RECOMMEND - STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS

Tip for consumers:
Be prepared to wait nearly a year for your stuff, fitment or any other customer service from them, then this is the company for you. Absolutely terrible experience and would not recommend

EON will be the worst decision in your life. If you want to go with the most complicated, unfair and awful company feel free. They charge you with an amount, then they change their mind, and then they say it's not enough. I paid £48 a month for a STUDIO flat and in the end they said I owed them over £1300. Which I have paid but they have affected my credit score. I don't think I can ever write down how truly bad they are. The customer service is awful. Unfortunately, I have to give them 1 star because that's the lowest I can, but if I could I would give them -******* stars. What a mess of a company. Oh forgot to mention I have not been with EON for 2 years but I'm still having issues with them. They will truly F*** your life up. If someone reads this please stay away from them. If I ever won the lottery the first thing I would do is close down EON.
I can't get a mortgage due to setting up a direct debit and the bank blocking the payments, once I found out ( 1 month later I got the bank to unblock the issues) but EON still affected my credit, for something I done nothing wrong.

I moved house a year ago now I've received a bill and court summons for 3000 pounds for energy I haven't used. I spoke to them but they ignore my explanation

They completely ruined my credit history due to a mistake on their part.
Refuse to fix the mess they created.
Say they will call back at a certain time then no one calls.
I have been going through this with them over and over again.
This is the second time they have over charged me admitted to it and then had the gaul to dock my credit history and not fix THEIR OWN BILL.
STAY AWAY FROM THIS AWEFUL COMPANY.

I lost faith on Eon- Customer service and commitment to offer customer satisfaction is Zero. There is serious admins problem.I have been asking to alter my electric from inside to outside. Eon messed me up blaming admins error and other departments. Since October 2022, nothing happen, booking on 6th Jan2023 could not make when DNO is alterating the wire,rebook on 16th Jan, Eon turned up to wrong address,then booked me in Feb 3rd 2023 for correct address,next day they cancelled it again, now they booked me for 6th March 2023. Not happy at all!I am without power due to failure of Eon for nearly 9 weeks.How would you feel guys?They have gut to say if I dont take the booking now they want to refund it as they know if I leave it will take further 8 weeks to get a meter from another supplier. Disgusting, My contract with builder became invalid due to failure energy supply. I lost time and money!worst energy company I dealt with.Sorry--Sorry No rating at all!

After two nightmare years of persistently inaccurate bills based on insanely unlikely estimated meter readings, AT LAST on 22nd February an actual meter reader came to actually read the meter. Oh, but what happens next? A month later, on 20th March, the same shambolic company issues YET ANOTHER inaccurate bill based on insane ESTIMATED readings!

Countless letters and telephone calls, and THREE investigations by the so-called Energy Ombudsman, have made zero difference in the past two years (note: the Energy Ombudsman is just as incompetent as Eon Next, so don't waste your time! Just make sure you pick a supplier with decent customer service, so you never even NEED the Ombudsman...).

Staff numerous errors sending overpayments then frequent demands want it back causing customer arrears then frequently harassing customer by phone calls.

I had the worst experience ever and all that without ever being a client. One day, out of nowhere they started sending me letters claiming I owe them money for electricity. The bill was for my old address for the period of time when I was not living there anymore and I have always been a client of another provider. After sending then an email with registration proof and date, as well as multiple infolinie calls, they keeps bothering me with the letters and in the end, they forwarded me to Inkasso. Inkasso cancelled all activities towards me nearly immediately after finding out I actually don't owe them anything but it costed me so much stress, and time. I was so upset about the Inkasso but even after crying on the infolinie they wouldn't apologise or send an official letter with explanation. Worst company ever, I'd never recommend them to anyone. Terrible service, no English speakers, people on the infolinie tell you they will contact other department or do something about it and they never do, all the bill reminders were being sent two weeks after payment deadline, absolutely horrible and draining experience.

Npower customer till 2019 when taken over by eon. Quickly jumped ship due to APPALLING customer service, bad billing. I moved in June this year. Today I received a letter from a debt collection agency for an unpaid eon debt for the period 24th 11th 2012 to 31st 12th 9999, because according to eon my account is still active. I pointed out I was with npower in 2012, ended the call and double checked my facts then called back. The second agent I spoke to told me the bill was for the period 28th 5th 21 to 17th 8th 22.28th 5th 21 I was with SSE, and I moved on the first of June. I'm on hold with eon as I write this review.

Had nothing but trouble since smart meters was put in my property
System is constantly down
So due to that can never top up
Trying to top up for 3 days eventually my electric went I had to sit with my kids with no electric for 1 hour and 45 as I couldn't get through by phone
Ask for the meters to put back to normal they charging me £240 per meter to be swapped back either that or sit with no gas and electric Becuase the system is the worst

I have tried ringing, been passed on then phone goes dead. Having to wait nearly an hour at a time. Tried chat 20 mins wait, then 5mins. Still did not get to speak to any one. Waisting my time.

I moved into my apartment in December 19 and the electricity account was with Eon. I set up a direct debit of £66 per month. I set up an online account which never worked, but they also sent me a quarterly paper bill so this didn't bother me too much.
I last got a paper bill in August 20. It stated I now owed around £400 but that my direct debit of £66 was still OK.
That was the last bill I got in the post. After that they stopped and Eon are unable to explain how this happened.
In January of this year I moved to octopus energy. Eon emailed me my final bill but as usual the online account didn't work - another thing that Eon can't explain.
Today I looked at my online banking and Eon have taken my final bill of £852!
I called them. The phonecall took 50 minutes. They can't explain why my paper bills stopped. They can't explain why my direct debit wasn't raised. They can't explain why my online account never worked.
I tried to raise a complaint but was told this is a lengthy process on the phone. After 50 minutes on the phone already I gave up. I am recovering from coronavirus and just didn't have the energy when I know that I won't get anywhere.
My advice. Don't use Eon. Terrible customer service and online account.

This firm swamped me too them with out asking then they sent me a crazy estimated bill I gave them my reading then it took 8days to get here I paid it on the 28/3/22 and I gave them my reading on 31/3/22 and they sent me a bill for that has well but added the bill on that I paid has well I complained why they sent me two bills for the same month they said it's because I sent my reading in the 31/3/22 bill should have been on my April bill they put me on pay monthly when I was on quality with out asking I have dumb metres cos they won't send me a update no not happy with e on next because it looks like they are money grabbing can't wait for the money if they have your reading they bill you

So EON have been charging my account for energy that has not been used by me. I've suspected this for a while but with the energy price increase, I decieded to investigate this further as I was being charged for way more gas than I know I was using.

I live on the top floor of my apartment building and have only used my central heating like 4 times this winter. When I called, it seemed the meter reading on my meter and the ones their engineers have been measuring did not match.

According to their engineers I was using more engery than my meter was showing. I even sent a picture of my meter reading as prove. They apologised and informed me that an engineer would be coming to check my meter.

The appointment day came and went, no one turned up. When I called the next day, I was told the person dealing with the issue would call me back. An hour later, I was sent an email stating that said person (MAISY HEIRCOCK) was on leave until Tuesday the following week and would call then instead.

How is it possible that in such a large company, said Maisy who so far has been awful, is the only person that can deal with this issue?

It's a clear case of EON avoiding the fact that they have been overcharging me for gas for years! Just 6.5 more weeks before I can report this issue to Ofcom. This issue is getting sorted one way or another.

Have been a prepayment customer with E.ON for more than 8 years. E.ON/ Energy revenue dropped a letter into my neighbours house in November of this year, asking if they can come and see my prepayment meter. I called them up asking for a weekend appointment - they said they would get back to me. Over a week later I came home from work and E.ON had broken into my home and removed my prepayment meter and installed another prepayment meter but at the same time stole my car keys and gate key. I have made no less than 30 phone calls to try and get to the bottom of why this happened, have been told so many different stories about why. The new meter in my two bed one floor house that I live in with a child who goes to school every day and I go to work every day is costing almost £400 a month after previously costing £60. I can't get any answers. I have gone to the ombudsman and they are currently looking through the case but my mental health had been so badly affected by what has happened. I can't sleep, I am a nervous reck and am still yet to get a clear answer as to why this has happened. I just need to know why they entered my home, what did I do wrong.
I have switched provider this morning because I can't keep on like this. I hate E.ON. They have caused me anxiety and stress that I cannot even put into words. Over the years they have done little things like send me text telling me to top up even though I already had and sending me bills even though I have prepayment but that has all been resolved or pretty much ignored as prepayment made me feel more in control of my bills but this last month has been a nightmare - avoid them like the plague.
