I'd been going to a hair salon my entire 'gray' life. I'd spend between $150-$200 every 6 weeks. I started using eSalon over a year ago. Not only does my hair turn out exactly as I want it but it's saved me tons of money.
I was charged and recharged before i tried this product which was recommended by a friend Very disappointed. Colour is patchy And my hair feels bad. Regrowth back after one week.
I've been using eSalon to color my naturally blonde hair to a vibrant copper changing up the shades here and there over the last 5 years. I hate going to the salon and spending hours and I've had mediocre results using drugstore box color. I think box color wasn't my jam because I could never get the exact shade I had in my head. Enter eSalon. I had been using a shade of red I really liked but then I saw a television show and fell in love with the actress's hue so I found a pic and updated my shade. I had a little back and forth with the colorist who provided some caveats and things to keep in mind with my new shade as it was much more copper, less red than my last color. It arrived, I used it and it was FANTASTIC!. I just had someone tell me that my hair color is the perfect shade for my skin tone and most people assume it's my natural color. I love that it is a subscription because the notifications of my next order keep me from the worst, procrastinator parts of myself. I'm just a girl who might live with awful roots for way too long than anyone should if not prompted. I've only ever had positive customer service and frankly was shocked to see so many nasty reviews. Maybe eSalon isn't for some. If you haven't dyed your own hair before, maybe stick with going to a salon. ESalon will not make you a professional colorist just because they custom mix the color based on a picture. If you are going from a really dark color, eSalon may not have the peroxide strength you need to lift that many shades safely. Go to a colorist. For me, I'm just a blonde, depositing color and it exceeds expectations every time. I will never go back to drugstore color or waste my time in a salon.

Terrible experience with Esalon
Terrible experience with Esalon. My hair was natural light/medium brown, only dye/bleach I had on at time was highlights. I reached out to Esalon and wanted to dye my hair a natural dark blonde to go a shade lighter and go over my highlights. I get the box, exited as I've seen a lot of good reviews. Dye my hair, following all their instructions, my hair turns out dark dark brown. Way darker than my natural hair. I contacted Esalon, this is where I was told to go buy color oops and once I got their dye off, they would send me out another formula. I got the color oops, which cost more than what I originally paid for their product. I got the second formula, it says dark blonde again after we had already spoke about how dark their (dark blonde) was. I call my colorist back up and ask what is going on, she reassures me it was reformulated and that I'd be much happier the second time around. Again I am very hesitant to use another (dark blonde) from them. I wait another 10 days as I had already had to use color oops and cut 4 inches of my hair off bc of the damage the first product caused. I dye my hair again, following all the directions. After washing it out, I could tell it was definitely lighter this time but now my hair was orangish looking as I was towel drying. I let my hair finish air drying then go look to see and now I have dark blondish COPPER coloured hair! I email the company again with pictures again showing what my hair looks like now after using what their colorist recommended for the second time. I receive an email back stating how hair color could not lift hair color and that is why my hair is now red and that I should seek help from a salon. I had no hair color on my original hair, only highlights! If not for them screwing up the original formula, none of this mess would've happened in the first place! Never again!
Shortly after posting the review below to sitejabber, I received an email from eSalon thanking me for my review (they didn't attribute the review to sight jabber but I haven't posted a review of esalon to any other site) and indicating that I was getting a refund for the second coloring kit that I received, due to the continuing subscription that I was unaware of. It was also stated in the email that the post office doesn't notify e salon when they dispose of a package--implying, I guess, that the problem with my return was a post office problem and not a problem with eSalon's return process.
Several days later my bank account was in fact credited for the coloring kit. Thanks, site jabber. I'm sure I was never going to get a refund without the site jabber review.
Original review:
I ordered a custom color kit from eSalon but changed my mind about using it before I received it. Since I had asked for it to be custom-made I didn't pursue getting a refund. I was shocked when I received a second kit about a month later. I had no idea I had signed up for a continuing subscription. When I contacted E salon they told me to mark the package as refused and turn it over to the post office so that it would be returned to eSalon. When they received the package they would issue me a refund. I followed those directions although it sounded sketchy. I tracked the package today and USPS indicated that the package had been disposed of, that it couldn't be delivered or wasn't accepted by eSalon. I realize that the post office could have issues but I've never ever been directed by any other vendor to return a product by refusing delivery. Something's not right there.
I question why anyone would ever knowingly sign up for a continuing subscription before they had even ever tried a product initially.
I'm disappointed that this product has been featured in various magazines and websites. I never see any mentions in those articles about the continuing subscription.
