They closed my account with mentioning that I didn't pass verification. I provided all documents again, in better quality they kept silence for 7 days although promise to answer within 1-2 working days. Afterwards I tried to contact them to get to know what is going on, because I paid for my shop account and had one sale already. But they send me again template answer that - hey due to inconsistencies in your account we suspended it. They gave me 0 explanation on what happened, why was suspended what exact reason for it what paragraph I violated...still don't know. I kept asking please give me some explanation what is going on and how to fix it, but no communication from their side. Basically they suspended my account for what I paid already and gave me 0 explanation how to make refund how return money. Customer support just ignore you and try to push issue on other agent not to deal with you and not to help you.
The seller and I agreed I could return my item by regular mail since I received my item by regular mail, they even told me how much it would cost and not to send through the post office. I used their own packaging and sent a photo to confirm the return. The seller now refuses to honor their agreement so I opened a case with Etsy. Etsy won't refund me because I can't prove the seller received my return. If they bothered to read the conversation between myself and the seller the seller told how to return my item and you can't send a tracked item to a PO Box! What a scam! Way to rip off a person with a disability. They closed my file with no explanation or anything. I guess Etsy let's sellers rip off buyers now.
I bought a showpiece and after quite a long time when it did not arrive, I contacted etsy help. After much coaxing they investigated and said the case was closed. No refunds nothing. I lost my money and time. What a shame! Since then I have started using itshandicraft.com. Really a good site affordable prices, genuine products and prompt delivery. Site worth trying out.
I've never had any problems with Etsy. Now, you have to remember that people of all ages can have a shop. I've never experienced any sort of problem and I've been using the site for years. Like other popular sites like EBay, your experience depends on the seller. Check reviews on their shop before you shop!
I first found etsy when I went looking for supplies. I loved what was being offered such as charms, fimo, prints. Some shops were out of my price range but many were just right for my budget.
I am now a seller on etsy and direct many buyers to various shops I would have to say my favorite category is vintage collectibles as it just brings up happy memories.
I've been a seller on Etsy for a number of years, and I also really appreciate being able to shop on Etsy and find and support amazing makers!
The space is co-created and consumer driven, but sadly anyone can open a shop, therefore please do your due diligence and look over each individual shop to get a feel for whether or not it is a true artist and not a manufactured sham. If it's a manufactured sham, please report it to help maintain the integrity of the site. If you have an issue with your order, try resolving it with the seller, and if that doesn't work, there's great customer service to help you navigate the issue.
Here are some tips before purchasing:
-Read over some reviews in each shop!
-Check their Social Media, Do you see photos of them actually making what they sell?
-Read their "About" section. If there's no About section, then that might be a red-flag. (Makers and artists generally enjoy sharing some part of their process)

I am currently a seller on Etsy who works hard to come up with new designs and sell high quality hand made products. Lately the website is a joke. Many sellers are not honest and use retail products that they sell as handmade and up the price on. One way you can spot this is through the pictures. Try google image searching items before you buy them. If they take you to a retail site then that is where the seller gets the products they send to you. Do not fall into the "Handmade trap," be aware of what you are buying and dont just trust store reviews. ETSY REMOVES BAD REVIEWS to maintain stores images and their own image..
I was a little skeptical of the time frame and wondered if it would arrive in time for my daughter's birthday. She loved the shirt as well as the one I got for myself. My customers have asked and now I can give them what they are looking for. Will be ordering more in the future.
Buyer beware! Etsy and its Application are a total ripoff!
I purchased items with this app. They were sent to the wrong address. Per Etsy your items are automatically sent to the address that you have used the most. Not your most current address. My order was almost $100, currently doing a claim against Etsy with my bank as Etsy said this is policy and they have done nothing to recover my order or refund my money. Poorly written application. Or was it they did make a $100 off me by hiding behind the small print. Shop elsewhere there are companies out there with smarter apps.
I purchased a jacket that was supposed to be a men's medium and it arrived a woman's medium... several emails to the seller and a opened and closed claim case in less than 6 hours and I'm stuck with the jacket. The only response to my several emails was apparently meant for another customer.
I ordered a phone cause from etsy because my previous one had broken... the website told me i would receive it in 5-10 business days. I received confirmation of shipping on July 19th... I still have yet to receive my phone case and i have been waiting approximately three weeks for it. I spent a good deal of money for a phone case that is taking an extremely long time to get here. I know for sure I will never order anything from this website again and I would absolutely not recommend it to anyone.
Presently closing 3 accounts once unsold listings expire. Customer service is basically non-existent - and a public company to boot! Does not listen to suggestions by professional sellers and is constantly changing search functions to the detriment of its members. As bad as fleabay is, it is still a better option to spend a few cent more for results.
I ordered a two-tiered wine glass rack from Weldon Woodcrafts on Etsy, and it was shipped to me but damaged in the shipping process. I contacted Andrew Weldon/Weldon Woodcrafts about this, and he said he would contact the USPS. That was in the first part of March. I did not hear back from him and have sent him 3 more notes asking about the status, all of them unanswered.
The craftsmanship was okay, except that he used a piece of wood that had a knot in it and he also didn't use a very sturdy shipping box, and the box looked a little ragged when I got it. After having been thrown around by the U.S. Postal Service, it came to me with a big crack where the knot was. I paid $95 originally and then he asked for an additional $25 for shipping costs before he would send it out.
I ordered several items through Etsy and I am so happy! You need to read the reviews though per shop before ordening. That is very essential. But it is wonderful that small handwork shops can open a shop there. Unique items!
I was sold a counterfeit bracelet and collegeprojewelry will not refund me. I should have been smarter knowing the price was too good to be true but their reviews were good and are now finally showing this companies true colors. I know for a fact the bracelet was fake because I own an original and this one is so cheap and obvious its fake. You can see all over the internet that this guy is a scam artist selling stolen and counterfeit goods. Avoid.
I love Etsy for its unique hand made items from all over the world. I can't always find what I want, but mostly do. I have gottenaa amazing gifts on there and my favorite unique greeting cards. Their website is easy to use and they sell mostly excellent products. One compliant is there is rarely ever free shipping. Sometimes the shipping is more than the product.
On Etsy The name is Ezeauction be careful when you purchase anything from this seller, not only did she sent me a broke necklace, ( I took a picture of it and all) but she going to tell me to send it back and buy another one! Which is very unprofessional, I will never spend another dime with them! And then on top of that have the nerve to have a stink attitude that's not a good way to conduct business! Never again
I love everything about this shop
Great idea for a printable. The seller helped me really fast (same day) to prepare a file for print.
I really liked these printables, came out perfect! I framed and have it in my home!
The stirrers in this shop are my favorite thing to gift for parties, birthdays and even christmas! Everyone needs a set OR two! You need to check them out now... i promise you will love them as much as i do!
I purchased a second pair of palazzo pants for my girlfriend, both from Etsy. The first pair fit perfectly; the second pair is sized for a child, even though it says, "women medium." Etsy had a company named Hannah's Fashions supply the pants. Hannah refuses to respond to emails. When I called, a woman answered, stated that she did not speak english, and was quite rude. I called Etsy and after being on hold for a while, a digital voice said that they had already closed for the day (at 2 PM EDT). I was looking forward to buying more items from Etsy, but unless I can reach them and make an exchange, I will never do business with Etsy again.
To be fair, Etsy has great prices, free shipping, and fast delivery, and I planned to order many more items from Etsy, but none of these features mean anything if I get stiffed on a miss-sized item.
Answer: Check the reviews, and Google the seller. Also, are the reviews written in good english? Does it seem fake? Check pictures from the buyers.
Answer: I would have to say no, with LOTS of exceptions. In the past few years Etsy has allowed business to claim handmade if it meets certain criteria. I often see many items that claim to be handmade but I have seen them on Alibaba being sold in bulk. That being said I look very closely and have purchased some wonderfu items from great sellers. The biggest problem with Etsy is that they no longer protect customers from fraud (they say they are not liable) but in doing that lots and lots or resellers and counterfeit items have saturated Etsy' s marketplace. I would never buy anything "vintage" there. What I have seen you are getting thrift store rejects or modern fake. Buyer beware! Investigate all vendors carefully!
Answer: I am agree with Ramina. 90% is not hand made. All comes from Factories. When someone has over 8000's item don't you ask who made it. They are all over from Pakistan to turkey east to west up united state. Etsy is happy just to take your money and every 4 or 5 months closing one store to show off and if you have some money as a credit they take it too. No customer service, no respect no manor, they made policy just for FUN and they have FUN with our pocket. Stay far from them FAR FAR.
Answer: I agree with Steve J on this one. A lot of sellers on Etsy work from home in the evenings for extra money. Most of them are not big businesses with massive inventories so I would give them the benefit of the doubt. Give them a little more time and if they dont send it out then file a case with etsy
Answer: Business checking isn't necessary (the banks now charge a monthly fee for a small business checking). You can pretty much set up a regular checking account
Answer: I believe this depends on each seller. Etsy is simply a platform for sellers, and often does not have any direct involvement with orders short of processing the payment. Certain items cannot be returned for safety and hygiene reasons, and sellers can refuse to do anything other than exchange. Contacting Etsy may or may not change the results.
Answer: If you do, I would be cautious about ordering from international sellers, use a credit card in case you need to contest the charges, and do NOT expect ETSY do a thing if you get ripped off. They are useless and could care less once the sale is final.
Answer: I have bought a number of items through Etsy and with great success. I had only one negative experience and Etsy took are of that. I recommend Etsy wholeheartedly.
Answer: The best and quickest thing to do is to email the seller and let them know that you would like to return for a refund.
The company's reputation is marred by significant customer dissatisfaction, primarily stemming from poor customer service and unresolved order issues. Many customers report extensive delays in shipping and inadequate communication regarding their purchases, leading to frustration and a sense of helplessness. Additionally, there are widespread concerns about the platform's reliance on automated systems, which fail to provide effective support for both buyers and sellers. Despite some positive experiences with individual sellers, the overarching sentiment highlights a pressing need for improved transparency and accountability from the company to enhance customer trust and satisfaction.
