The company's reputation is marred by significant customer dissatisfaction, primarily stemming from poor customer service and unresolved order issues. Many customers report extensive delays in shipping and inadequate communication regarding their purchases, leading to frustration and a sense of helplessness. Additionally, there are widespread concerns about the platform's reliance on automated systems, which fail to provide effective support for both buyers and sellers. Despite some positive experiences with individual sellers, the overarching sentiment highlights a pressing need for improved transparency and accountability from the company to enhance customer trust and satisfaction.

What's up with Delayed, "Pending" Payments?
I have been buying on Etsy for 10 years without an issue. Last night, I purchased a bracelet from one of my favorite sellers. She got the notice that I bought it and we began discussing sizing. This morning the payment still shows, "Pending". An hour later I get an email from Etsy saying that they cancelled the order and that my account has been suspended! WHY? I've since sent several emails to them. There is no phone number!
Is this how Etsy treats a loyal customer?
Etsy is great to sell and buy. The only problem is that there are many clueless, careless moronic buyers that do not know common sense or know how to read. Sounds mean right?. Well ask ANY sweet and kind Etsy seller. We're abused.
As a buyer, I love most of it, as it is all unique items. However, they are being a bit more welcoming to accepting crap being sold. Anyone can sell a stupid t-shirt or hat -- do that somewhere else. Just a lot of idiots jumping on the latest catch phrase or hashtag to put on something useless. It really has to end.
But as a seller selling unique handmade items with love, the buyer needs to pay attention more But is it their fault? Etsy does not see it's becoming a bad Ebay if they are not careful. So they need to make buyer navigation easier with details in the buyer's face. Make them click something acknowledging they understand each detail and confirm they are not a complete idiot. That would be swell.
Seller just needs to prove they put your item in the mail; if it gets lost, don't expect a refund.
Ordered a purse and patiently waited two months because of seller's sweet talking but missed the 100 day window to file a case so now I'm out $60. Not that they would have refunded me anyway, due to their insane policy of no support to buyers of seller can prove they mailed the item. So whose responsibility is it if item goes missing if not seller or Etsy? If the postal carrier then would it not be the sellers responsibility to contact them, and if missing refund the customer or reship? What kind of business model leaves the customer with no support in a case like this? A crap one, that's what kind of business!
I have never heard of such crap policy in all my days as an internet shopper. I admit I didn't know the rules before I bought; just assumed they could be counted on to take care of customers who do not get their shipment like Amazon and eBay do... stupid me. Anyone who reads this and still shops at Etsy needs their head examined.
I ordered a personalized steering wheel cover wrap from this company owed by Mariah, its awesome and I love it.
I will never again use ETSY for any purchase, too difficult to navigate and to contact anyone without going through multiple levels and links... Fool me once shame on you fool m twice shame on me. You're done! Dealing with order Your Etsy Purchase from ShakedownTshirts *******375). Enjoy unable to resolve now I am stuck with unwanted merchandise.
I purchased a book. Friend never received it. I imagine it went to the wrong apartment. Etsy didn't honor money back guarantee.
I bought something from 'Day of Blossom' via Etsy and I paid freight charges. Now I have received a bill from FedEx asking for an 'advancement fee'. I have no idea what this is and no mention was made of such a fee on Etsy's website.
Purchased a £8.41 mask. Took a month to send and then received a £11.59 import tax and import tax handling fee. Should have been made clear. Wouldn't use this company again and not recommend.
I recently opened an etsy shop. I listed my items, paid the 20 cents for each listing, and since i work with a print on demand service, each of my products are listed as having a large stock of items. All well and fine, until i made a few sales and, get this, Etsy charges you a new listing fee of 20 cents for each sale you make, as if i was renewing the listing! This is ridiculous, my original listing was not renewed, i had listed the products are having more than one for sale, they should not charge me as if i had put a new listing up on my shop! Outrageous! Not only that, but they also charge me a 20 cent fee for "shipping" on top of the shipping cost, so i pay extra 20 cents for them to do nothing, it is a site fee! And on top of all that, they still charge a transaction fee! Unbelievable!
I tried selling on Etsy. I get a bill for over $70 dollars and Im' like for what? "I haven't sold anything". When you sign up to be a seller, Etsy signs you up on their highest advertising tier without telling you or you being aware of it. Very sneaky and shady. I can understand a listing fee, but advertising with Etsy. Ahh NO. It shady how they charge you to advertise with them plus a listing fee too. They are ripping people off.
Their is no end to thier fees. Listing fees, subscription fees, admin fees, offsite ad fees, onsite advertisement fees, shipping fees, transaction fees... They also even charge you if you sell something in person from your square account. Their customer support is a joke. They hide their customer service numbers emails and contact behind a 5 layer maze of questions before you can even contact them through a form. And yes there are dead ends to these customer service questions. I received a bad review, I fixed the order and satisfied the customer and Etsy will not change the reviews. So Im stuck with the bad reviews. So I guess its karma that they are receiving my bad review.
I thought site was not user friendly at all, sell many items on mercari and Posh. Listing fees are high and over saturated. Was also very disappointed especially with what is going on right now that promoting both violence and murder against the police and numerous racist t shirts listed, that this was a more classy site. I guess not!
They have been holding my money for over 5 days, and claim they have to review it for processing but it is taking way too long and I initially wanted it shipped the next day... this is ridiculous. I want a refund or for it to be processed.
Contacted the vendor and said it was delivered by USPS. Never received the item. I have USPS app that shows deliveries. Delivery not shown. Vendor said they would resend if I paid postage. Will not use Etsy again. Will use Amazon as they are delivered on time with notification of delivery. First and last time for Etsy.
I have given a review and name the company is name calling my husband that is bad for business all because I have a poor review due to not receiving what I have ordered
I am always excited to spend some time here looking for unique items I wouldn't be able to find in physical stores.
I bought four shirts with Dodge Ram emblems the emblems were stamped on which means a couple washing it'll come right off cheaply made. Wanted to return them they have no type of return policy no return label nothing horrible company to deal with
I am really glad that they actually provide the possibility of ordering something unique and high quality. Thank you!
I placed an order on 4/23/20 for a piece of fabric. My credit card was charged with a couple days however I still have not received my order. When my order was first placed, I received a message it would be shipped in 2 - 3 weeks. Now when I request an update on my order, I get a message that it will ship in 4 - 6 weeks. This is ridiculous. This is a piece of fabric 18" X 18 ". How long should a person have to wait. I have sent several emails to the owner and to Esty and have not received a response. Todays date is 5/27/20. I will be patient one more week and if I don't receive my order I will be reporting this fraud to my credit card company. With all the negative reviews I'm seeing on this website, I doubt I will get a response. Will never order from this company again.
I had been a 5 star seller since 2011, but when covid-19 hit in January, no one knew it would affect sales. In February I started getting complaints about late shipments, and frantically searched to find out why they were late. It was confirmed that it was due to covid quarantines, and I wrote to all of my customers informing them of the situation, and asked Etsy if there was anything further I should do. Their response? They suspended my account, kept my last paycheck and gave customers (with their purchases still on the way to them) their money back out of my account. They wouldn't even let me discuss it with them - just sent a form letter stating that I could petition to unsuspend my account in 2 weeks to give me time to think about what I had done wrong. All my customers were concerned about their orders, and it made ME appear unstable as a seller. Petition to unsuspend? Not on your life. I have a relationship with my customers - I wouldn't do this to them again. They can find me on my website. What Etsy did was not right. It was unethical, and they should have been there to help a small business through this pandemic - but instead, they showed their true colors. They won't even send me my 1099k from last year for my taxes.
Answer: Check the reviews, and Google the seller. Also, are the reviews written in good english? Does it seem fake? Check pictures from the buyers.
Answer: I would have to say no, with LOTS of exceptions. In the past few years Etsy has allowed business to claim handmade if it meets certain criteria. I often see many items that claim to be handmade but I have seen them on Alibaba being sold in bulk. That being said I look very closely and have purchased some wonderfu items from great sellers. The biggest problem with Etsy is that they no longer protect customers from fraud (they say they are not liable) but in doing that lots and lots or resellers and counterfeit items have saturated Etsy' s marketplace. I would never buy anything "vintage" there. What I have seen you are getting thrift store rejects or modern fake. Buyer beware! Investigate all vendors carefully!
Answer: I am agree with Ramina. 90% is not hand made. All comes from Factories. When someone has over 8000's item don't you ask who made it. They are all over from Pakistan to turkey east to west up united state. Etsy is happy just to take your money and every 4 or 5 months closing one store to show off and if you have some money as a credit they take it too. No customer service, no respect no manor, they made policy just for FUN and they have FUN with our pocket. Stay far from them FAR FAR.
Answer: I agree with Steve J on this one. A lot of sellers on Etsy work from home in the evenings for extra money. Most of them are not big businesses with massive inventories so I would give them the benefit of the doubt. Give them a little more time and if they dont send it out then file a case with etsy
Answer: Business checking isn't necessary (the banks now charge a monthly fee for a small business checking). You can pretty much set up a regular checking account
Answer: I believe this depends on each seller. Etsy is simply a platform for sellers, and often does not have any direct involvement with orders short of processing the payment. Certain items cannot be returned for safety and hygiene reasons, and sellers can refuse to do anything other than exchange. Contacting Etsy may or may not change the results.
Answer: If you do, I would be cautious about ordering from international sellers, use a credit card in case you need to contest the charges, and do NOT expect ETSY do a thing if you get ripped off. They are useless and could care less once the sale is final.
Answer: I have bought a number of items through Etsy and with great success. I had only one negative experience and Etsy took are of that. I recommend Etsy wholeheartedly.
Answer: The best and quickest thing to do is to email the seller and let them know that you would like to return for a refund.
