Their custom vehicle emblems fit perfectly and enhance my f150. Their customer service is top rated, so regard the negative comments that say otherwise. Ryan the owner took care of my order personally from start to finish!
I have sat here for 2 days listing items on Etsy and now it won't let me input a credit card to list them! It keeps highlighting my country--
USA--and will not accept any of the 8 cards I have put in. So I have spent an entire week naming my store, uploading photos, measuring, comping, describing all for naught. Guess I don't eat this week. Thanks etsy
I've seldom bought from etsy over the years, however, have noticed that recently in the past 5 years or so the site has been attracting china-made bulk lot garbage that can be easily purchased in a dollar store. The site used to be very particular about who and what is allowed to be sold, but no more. It's anything-goes for their bottom line. If I shop online I'll visit a retailer who has a confirmed history of honesty and forthrightness. Add to that I'll research the item first before buying from anyone. If it's a new site I'm interested in, then the research includes BBB and Consumer Affair complaints and reviews not to mention any FTC consumer grievances.
I absolutely love how this website has such a huge variety of creative goods! I also love that it encourages people to not only become entrepreneurs if they've ever thought about trying it, but that it also encourages people to buy locally and support individual artists.
As someone who has a shop on Etsy (Atomik Cupcake Designs), I do find that Etsy can be somewhat costly when you're first starting up. It costs 20 cents per listing on Etsy, and they stay up for four months or until the item is purchased, at which point it can be renewed for the same price. The site also takes a small percentage of the profit from your item, so it's good to know all this and plan accordingly. However, it is a great website to get your product out there because Etsy is relatively popular, and there is real potential for success if you have the right products and a little elbow grease!
I purchased 2 different fabrics from a merchant selling on Etsy's site, in March. Unfortunately the products have not been delivered yet (as of May 16). The merchant has been contacted multiple times about it. But their general response has been: We can't take responsibility for delivery! They keep repeating that nonsense every time. I finally opened a case directly with Etsy 8 days ago. No response as of yet. On Amazon, if you have an issue with a product or a seller, you can easily contact Amazon and they take action very quickly to resolve the problem. On Etsy, it is next to impossible to contact them in order to have a dialogue. Their Help Center directs the buyer to different pre-written articles, but not an Etsy representative. There is no "Contact Us" button you can go to. My experience has been very frustrating with Etsy & that seller. This is the last time I buy anything on Esty. I am done.
I believe Etsy isn't all that bad, like others are seemingly saying. I knew that what I ordered was not handmade but it was to beautiful to pass up. I bought a prom dress. Though I was under the impression it was going to be in sooner rather than later like the time management said, I talked to the seller. She was more than happy to help me get it on express shipping. Not all sellers are bad, guys.
I bought several smaller items from Etsy from various sellers. I didn't have any issues. All of my items I ordered are as described and arrived more or less around the expected delivery date. However, I always check if a seller has a good track record and decent reviews. My favorite purchase from Etsy is a plant, Alocasia Reginula Black Velvet, that bloomed right after a month. To sum it up: I'm happy with Etsy.
Etsy closed our store without notice, we appealed the decision 21 days ago and we are still waiting for an explanation. This is the worst company to work with, do not use them as a sales platform for your store. The charges are very expensive and there is no customer service at all, not even a phone number to contact them. In addition, they can close your store at any time with no explanation. And there is nothing that you can do, to re-open it.
My account with Etsy got deactivated and I called to ask why. The customer service agents I talked to over the next 2-3 weeks kept insisting that I received an e-mail (I didn't) and they don't know and all they could do was submit another ticket to the department who is in charge of accounts. I waited about 3 weeks before calling customer service again and today I asked for a supervisor, and the agent put me on hold, then came back and told me our business dealings are over and to quit calling them. He then hung up on me. I still haven't received any sort of reason as to why my account was banned. Deactivated. This is TERRIBLE customer service.
Yes, this site can be aggravating, but overall I've had a pretty good experience. It is sometimes hard to get in touch with the seller and about 90% of the time the product is later than what the advertised shipping speed said but these items are pretty much all handmade... give them some time. I've also never had any problems with being ripped off or scammed.
The seller claims to be based in my country or i wouldnt have bought from them. Their email says my item will arrive in over a month, but they provide no tracking #. Etsys automated system won't let me communicate with anyone at etsy until the day after the shipment is due. What is going on? Why is a month out considered acceptable/normal to the system? I'll never use etsy again. Hopefully I get my item since my money is tied up for this whole time.
I had heard alot about this site and needed a unique gift for a friend so I decided to visit and see what all the fuss was about. It's a given that they have very unique gifts and other items that you may have a hard time finding elsewhere, but unfortunately after I placed an order from a company it turns out was overseas, I waited over a month and the item never came. I tried getting tracking information several times but they were unable to provide me with any. They did handle the credit back to my Paypal account accordingly once I reported I had not received the item but I have to say it was a disappointing experience.
I ordered two items for Christmas gifts. Unknown to me they are shipped from independent vendors. When neither showed up, I tried to contact Etsy. Their site only allows you to go after the vendors. I bought from Etsy, not the vendors. (One vendor say they'll reship, but probably not till next year, the other vendor says let them know on the 23rd if it not here.)
Obviously this is a sham mini-Amazon, but without the quality service.
Never again will I risk using this poorly managed outfit.
It seems about 30% of the time when I buy on Etsy the items don't ever arrive. I get charged and sometimes I get charged like $50.00 to ship very light items, but then they never come.
Etsy doesn't back you up like Amazon. They make you wait a week AFTER your item is late before they'll even open a case.
I ordered--most recently--sparkelers and rose satchels for my daughter's wedding next week. I'm out $600.00 on these 2 items--neither have arrived--and Etsy's policy is that I should wait until the wedding is over before they will even look in to it.
NO MORE ETSY for me. Amazon takes care of their buyers.
Good luck if you need customer service at Etsy. No phone or chat. They do NOT answer emails. I got stiffed by a seller and they did not help. Had to dispute the charge with my credit card company and Etsy won't even rest to them.
My wife surfs Etsy and was upset with the listings of dirty ladies underwear for sale. A lot of them. Often guaranteed to have been worn 24 hrs and packed sealed to preserve aroma.
These are only sex paraphernalia not arts and crafts. Shame on Etsy.
I love supporting people who create their own stuff. I've bought a lot of things off Etsy, from notebooks to plushies to face masks. I have never been disappointed with anything I've purchased. Where else could I go to get car window decals to show off my nerd pride? This has become my go-to website for fun gifts that are more customized for my friends.
I'd give them no stars and when I tell you I made 4 pages all in which I was charged for and they suspended them. Didn't violate the terms or post inappropriately. I've contacted them several times with no response. At least refund my money if you aren't going to keep my page up. These people are thieves
I have been buying antiques and art for several years on etsy, and the sellers are getting more and more dishonest and belligerent. I always use paypal for an extra level of protection, but the dealer can still stick you with all the shipping charges if you return something, even if they lied in the description of the piece. The level of honestly and professionalism was much better three years ago.
I got scammed! Etsy doesn't require sellers to send tracking info with shipping confirmation! I have been waiting 5 weeks for an item and the seller keeps giving me the run around! Etsy has no phone support just email, which does little to no help. Bad site. Stick to ebay!
Answer: Check the reviews, and Google the seller. Also, are the reviews written in good english? Does it seem fake? Check pictures from the buyers.
Answer: I would have to say no, with LOTS of exceptions. In the past few years Etsy has allowed business to claim handmade if it meets certain criteria. I often see many items that claim to be handmade but I have seen them on Alibaba being sold in bulk. That being said I look very closely and have purchased some wonderfu items from great sellers. The biggest problem with Etsy is that they no longer protect customers from fraud (they say they are not liable) but in doing that lots and lots or resellers and counterfeit items have saturated Etsy' s marketplace. I would never buy anything "vintage" there. What I have seen you are getting thrift store rejects or modern fake. Buyer beware! Investigate all vendors carefully!
Answer: I am agree with Ramina. 90% is not hand made. All comes from Factories. When someone has over 8000's item don't you ask who made it. They are all over from Pakistan to turkey east to west up united state. Etsy is happy just to take your money and every 4 or 5 months closing one store to show off and if you have some money as a credit they take it too. No customer service, no respect no manor, they made policy just for FUN and they have FUN with our pocket. Stay far from them FAR FAR.
Answer: I agree with Steve J on this one. A lot of sellers on Etsy work from home in the evenings for extra money. Most of them are not big businesses with massive inventories so I would give them the benefit of the doubt. Give them a little more time and if they dont send it out then file a case with etsy
Answer: Business checking isn't necessary (the banks now charge a monthly fee for a small business checking). You can pretty much set up a regular checking account
Answer: I believe this depends on each seller. Etsy is simply a platform for sellers, and often does not have any direct involvement with orders short of processing the payment. Certain items cannot be returned for safety and hygiene reasons, and sellers can refuse to do anything other than exchange. Contacting Etsy may or may not change the results.
Answer: If you do, I would be cautious about ordering from international sellers, use a credit card in case you need to contest the charges, and do NOT expect ETSY do a thing if you get ripped off. They are useless and could care less once the sale is final.
Answer: I have bought a number of items through Etsy and with great success. I had only one negative experience and Etsy took are of that. I recommend Etsy wholeheartedly.
Answer: The best and quickest thing to do is to email the seller and let them know that you would like to return for a refund.
The company's reputation is marred by significant customer dissatisfaction, primarily stemming from poor customer service and unresolved order issues. Many customers report extensive delays in shipping and inadequate communication regarding their purchases, leading to frustration and a sense of helplessness. Additionally, there are widespread concerns about the platform's reliance on automated systems, which fail to provide effective support for both buyers and sellers. Despite some positive experiences with individual sellers, the overarching sentiment highlights a pressing need for improved transparency and accountability from the company to enhance customer trust and satisfaction.
