First of all I'd like to say that if I could've given less than one star, I would've. I was desperate and hoping I could find some outside insight to a very difficult situation. Who is going to look for advice to something simple? So I carefully describe what happened and it's like the dumbest, most judgemental people you could imagine come out of the wood work. This site really made me so angry I questioned any hope I had left in humanity. If you go here, I recommend doing it for trolling purposes, since that is all they will do to you, and if you call them out on it, they call you rude. This was the post I made, and while everyone may have their own judgements on the post itself, there is no doubt that the responses were anything but 'advice.'

Someone posted the forum question "does unemployment show up on a background check?"
I posted the following link to the Maryland Unemployment Website page.
https://www.dllr.state.md.us/AppealsOnlineSearch/web/content/Home.aspx
This link shows that if a background searcher can access someone's unemployment records and all they need is the person's social security number.
The next day I was informed that I was banned from freeadvice.com for "unspecified reasons" and the date the ban will be lifted is "never".
Absolutely terrible website. They twist and turn little things you wright (that have nothing to do with your question) and try to make you sound like a fool.
Not one "senior" member is nice or gives advice.
Here are the worst and I mean worst advice givers on this site
Ohiogal-the worst and probably a lonely person. Lives at home with 3 cats and overweight
Proserpina
Ohroadwarrior
Flyingron
Sliverplum
These users like to follow each other around and like each other's posts. They hang as a team and 90% of the time make fun of the new user.
Ohiogal, justblue and the rest still on this site bullying people like always for years now.
Look for advice from some real attorneys.
I am never going to this website again and will be advising everyone I know to seek legal advice elsewhere. In response to legal questions, I witnessed other site members making repeated derogatory comments and remarks that could arguably be named as outright libelous. Members would not take the time to thoroughly read and understand what was being asked and/or said before offering their assumptions. Member responses are on par with what you would read if you posted your question on Yahoo Answers, Twitter or as your Facebook status... what good is a so-called legal forum rife with critics on the kind of person you are in real-life? The only action I saw being taken by the site moderator(s) was to lock the thread when they felt the answers were sufficiently good (even when the advice-seekers would say they had still not gotten a clear and non-judgemental answer). Yet they freely allow other site members (especially those with the most posts) to type whatever they feel ( non-legal chitchat, vulgar terms, name-calling). I am personally appalled that the site is run that way. If I were looking for legal advice off-line and received that kind of treatment, I would promptly be looking elsewhere! It is a wonder to me why the volunteers want to and are allowed to use that site to verbally berate others instead of helping with legal matters. Unless you like being cyberbullied, please spare yourself the visit. I hope that the offending members of that site are banned for their behavior.
I asked advice about visitation with my sons drug addicted father and the people on this site just basically shamed me for my situation. One especially hostile user named OhioGAL - A GUARDIAN AD LIDEM literally mocked me for "spreading my legs" to this person, acted like my son being in danger was my punishment for this mistake, and criticized me for not having an abortion. Seriously- if this person really is a guardian ad litem- I'm disgusted they would let this person around anyones kids, let alone "advocate" or "represent" them in a custody case. I wanted to puke after visiting this site. Then I went to AVVO where the people are actually professional because they can't hide behind anonymity and got STILL HONEST AND STRAIGHT FORWARD advice but not hostile, mockery. They were totally wrong. The guy is back on drugs, just got two duis, and I was told my EVERY OTHER lawyer to do the opposite of what they said. Just go to Avvo, justia, or any other legal advice site, better yet, bite the bullet and get a free consultation with a real lawyer. The people on freeadvice.com are just vindictive jerks with superiority complex that like to use the posters that come seeking advice as toys for their entertainment and to help boost their own egos.
I posted two divorce questions on this site. While some gave advice many just gave rude opinions and insults. Do not bother with this site.
What everyone else said is true. I mean, what is with these people? Extremely harsh and judgmental and obviously no life!

Answer: Never had a problem reaching them. Via email and other way around, they have reached me easily enough
Answer: Legitimate and users should keep in mind that for some matters the best advice is to find a actual lawyer to review the issue and that means having to pay for the advice
