This site is so fabulous! I love all their clothes. It is my favorite place to shop. It might be a little too addictive, because there stuff is just so amazing. All their clothes are super cute and unique. Most stores sell the same boring crap. Looking through the clothes on this site is like visiting an art museum/ runway show. Love it! They also have stores all over the place, so you know that it isn't a scam. I don't trust just any website. It is a lot more fun searching online for clothes, and their selection is better than going to the store.
The customer service for this store and their umbrella company urban outfitters is abysmal. God forbid there's any issues with your order or account, which they themselves cause because their representatives are completely incompetent or just don't care, don't expect any real time assistance and forget about any resolution after they string you along. This is, I feel, a niche clothing brand targeting a specific market, and expensive to boot. Alienating their customer base and instead of trying to resolve issues, simply cutting off customers is really a miserable way to conduct business. Do their corporate officers know or care how their customer service departments are handling their consumers? I would still love to shop some of their pieces, but have been prevented from doing so directly with the company, and after the awful way they have treated me as a loyal customer, I just don't want to have anything to do with this brand ever again, and I've previously spent hundreds, possibly thousands with them.
I ordered two tops on the website during the Labor Day Sale, but then mailed them back for an exchange. Two weeks later, I get an email saying the items I wanted were out of stock and thus my shipment was processed as returned items, so I will be refunded and charged for return shipping. However, I checked online and called customer service and verified that those items were in stock in the size I wanted an exchange for. But because they issued a refund already to my account, they can't process an exchange but they can take a new order from me for those same items. Since I originally ordered them on a temporary sale, the cost of the same items are now almost double my refund, and I have to pay for return shipping. I don't know if it was an honest mistake that they made with my exchanged items, but I am going to think twice about ordering again from their website even though I do like their clothes.
This is the worst clothing company. Do not support. They charged my card without authorization after telling me that my item was unavailable 3 weeks later. I tried to speak to customer service to get a refund. NO ONE would get back to me. Their quality is crap. Move on. Do not purchase. Scam company

Free People has quite literally the worst online customer experience I've ever encountered. I ordered something in December and was sent the wrong item. I reached out to CS to let them know and they said they would ship the correct item which never arrived. I then was issued a second unauthorized charge in March for the item they sent that I DID NOT ORDER. After speaking to customer service multiple times to get this charge removed, it is clear that their strategy is to bully you until you are tired of fighting. Not shopping at this franchise any longer.
Very disappointing experience. I have placed an order for the first time with free people. Having received no order confirmation, i have tried to reach to customer service and after me sending three emails to get a reply, they responded that they could not trace my order anywhere in the system. I was also asked to send my card details via email, which i am not even sure its a legal request. After placing another order, i realised that i was in fact charged for my initial order for 191 euros! I emailed asking for a refund, but i have yet to receive a reply. I will of course keep requesting my money and certainly will never order from free people again.
I bought a top that I really like, from a Free People in Napa. I decided to order a few things because there isn't a shop nearby. I was informed that my package was delivered. It wasn't. I called them and was told to wait 48 hours before calling them. Still no package. Called and was told they would cancel my order and I could try to reorder.
Wow, so not what I wanted, as I planned to take these items on vacation next week. I don't understand how lying is an accepted way to do business-
Tip for consumers:
Don’t! Shop in-store only!

My products never arrived so, none!
They assure me I will get a refund but that may take up to 2 weeks.
Frustrating to take the time and make the effort to research so many items, decide to order (over $400.), be kept up to date on shipping and delivery (what a joke!) and then not get my items.
I ordered 3 items for a birthday gift to myself. 1 item was not something I ordered, one item was filthy, the other was fine. It took over 7 attempts to get refunds or exchanges and hours of discussion. I ended up never actually receiving a replacement for the filthy item. I didn't know a 3 item order could be so difficult. It's not worth it to shop here if this is how order issued are handled. This was free people's mistake, not mine. I am extremely annoyed at how this was handled and the fact that every time I contacted customer service I had to explain the whole situation again. It also took over a month to get partial resolution. I love your clothes, but your customer service stinks. They're in dire need of improvements to the shipping department and customer service.
Tip for consumers:
Go to the store. You have a 50/50 chance of your order being incorrect or damaged.
Items falling apart after first wear. Have received faulty items, given a discount on next purchase, rather than a refund of shipping costs to return. One item was out of stock which I was notified after a whole week. Slow and inconsistent
This company has been a nightmare to deal with. It took over a month to even receive these children's sized pants and when I wanted to return I had to pay my own shipping and given an address. I paid the shipping, sent the pants and have not be issued a refund. I return to the chat and told they don't have my order. I copied the email to show and last conversation, still no refund. This company is overpriced garbage and horrible customer service.
Item ordered mailed, still waiting 18 days. There's no email for customer service, tried chat which was awful, then phone call was frustrating and futile. They promised refund and would email to confirm - NOTHING and still no item. The 'gift' for signing up was free express shipping - didn't work, get free standard shipping which is what everyone gets anyway.
Free People have for the second time sent me a damaged item after ordering online. When a customer orders online, should they expect their item to have a massive hole in it and be pre-worn smelling like body odour? Well that is what I received. I'm horrified and appalled. Worst part of this is that Free People aren't even willing to answer my questions about how this can happen. The item is not stock for them to send me a new one and they don't have a way for me ship it back for a full refund without ME having to pay for the return shipping! What a joke!
The item cannot be worn but yet I have paid for it so I'm stuck with it? Doesn't make sense to me. Disgusting.
I've always been happy with my clothes from Free People. I use to order from them all the time but stop because they use Laser Ship to deliver my items. My items never are never delivered on time. I've asked them to call me when the driver gets outside. Instead they call me after to tell me that a unit number is not on my package but the day before it was they couldn't get in the building. I've decided to stop ordering from Free People until they change their shipping company. I gave them 3 stars because of delivery.
These people are completely ripping off the public. I just received a jacket to Paris, which i waited for 8 weeks. The jacket cost 160 or $199. I had to pay 85 or $120 dollars in tax (cash on arrival). I then tried this extreemely over priced jacket on to find it is poorly made, is swimming on me, although it was their website calculation who told me that i was a medium, which i am always a medium and ever a small. I just wrote to them and received a generic, 'oh we are sorry you dont like it, send back for a refund but we can do nothing about the tax.' Never again... Awful company, over priced clothes and Zero customer service. Once you buy, you cant go back. You will not find out until you purchase if your items will arrive in 1 week or 6 months. Be very aware, much better online options out there.
With all these negative reviews, you think they would improve their service. Paid extra to ship my order overnight and it wasn't shipped. 2 days later it still says" a label was created ". I have had many issues with free people and not receiving my orders. I am done with this company. I surely hope they go out of business to put an end to pissing off people.
I spent over 200 dallar to buy pants and gave 100 coupons as a gift. Then, I used coupons to buy clothes that didn't fit well and applied for a return. They agreed to the return and gave me a return label. However, when I called and asked if the returned coupons had not been sent to me yet, their response was that the coupons were disposable and I had already returned them. They couldn't refund me the money or return the clothes to me. What kind of garbage company
They have cool stuff occasionally -- but shop in person, not online. The online photos are often not of the correct products and "coincidentally" the photo is always of something much prettier and higher quality... It's incredibly frustrating to keep sending stuff back over and over again when this could be easily remedied by Free People just using a picture of the actual product, not photoshopped, and in normal lighting like every other online store. I've stopped buying from them for this reason.
I got 7 dresses for my bridesmaids and I ordered in the store eight one. Express shipping and so on... The dress should have arrived within a week. A month later, after 7 "updates" on the shipping date, I called customer service and they were so not helpful that I swear to all future purchases in my life: I will never buy anything from this store again.
Incompetent with rude customer service, esp the last girl I spoke to, talking down to me, time wasters
I just wanted to return an unused item, they made sure I can not within the 14days
For a full refund you have been warned, not the normal practice and service we are accustomed too... it ain't no next!
Worst customer service! There was a problem on their website and my order was placed twice. They just kept repeating they could not cancel one of the two order and then 2 days later the 2 orders shipped. Since I'm in canada I will have to pay for customs and taxes for import and then I will have to pay the shipping for sending it back, and they were clear that they were not paying for it. It was their website's checkout system's fault! I've never been so infuriated with a company customer service in my life! I just can't believe it...
I ordered a top and it was too big. Sent it back as an exchange for a smaller size and they processed it as a return so I got charged for shipping which should have been free. Reordered and they shipped the wrong item. I spoke to a rep who assured me that this time they would exchange it for the correct item. They once again processed it as a return. Great clothes but terrible customer service. Not sure I'd order from them again
Worst Online Shopping Experience Yet!
I would not recommend ordering bags online. Free People sends customers used and defected products with no label. I was told that I cannot return in store and must ship back. This is due to the fact that they do not have labels for the used products that they send.
I am very upset with Free People, I ordered a couple pair of shorts June 21, one pair was placed on back order and not expected until August 7. The other pair of shorts say they were delivered. No package has arrived at my home address. I have been in contact with them and all they will do is investigate to locate the shorts and if not located I will receive a refund in 3 days. REALLY! Did I place the order to go through this and not even get what I ordered and pay CC interest on an item that I will never have. Next big question is am I going to have fight for a refund and will I ever receive the other pair of shorts or have to go through this once again. VERY Bad business for expensive priced clothing. Unbelievable!

I would not order from Free People if you're located in Canada. I was assured multiple times by different agents that the return shipping and duties paid would be reimbursed (61$), and it still has not been. This issue has been ongoing since April and it is now December. I would never order from there again unless you I wanted to waste money. It is necessary for the survivability of a clothing brand to make the process of purchasing, trying on and return clothing that does not fit seemless, otherwise they will lose their customers.
Tip for consumers:
Don't.

None. They did not fit
Had a web special, buy $150 worth of product online and receive a gift card. Used the gift card to buy some items. I am now being told I can't return or exchange the items as it was a promotion! Their sizes run all over the place and when buying online you would imagine there would be some ability to exchange. Absolutely horrible policy and company.
Tip for consumers:
Avoid or buy in a store

The most disappointing thing about Free People is I'm willing to pay more money for my clothes, I've been replacing my wardrobe gradually with better items. But quality is just not a thing with Free People. I've paid $100 for a dress that unraveled the first time I washed it (by hand, as per the care label instructions), I've invested in Gold Plated Earrings that broke within a week, I've paid $40 for a Tshirt that pilled within months. The only time I've been happy with the quality, it's items that they resell from other labels like pants from Boyish or some shoes I've gotten. I've had a love for this brand for over ten years and it's the most repeated brand in my closet, thousands of dollars later I've come to realize Free People is total s.hit. I'm more than willing to pay the extra dollar but not if the quality has disappointed consistently. Save your money and the planet by shopping somewhere better. I could add more photos but I'm tired and done with FP. Do better.
Tip for consumers:
It would have been helpful to know that most of the clothes fall apart (some as quick as the first wash) so the high price does not mean better quality than low priced fast fashion from the mall.

Love the clothes but be careful when ordering online. I was just sent a pair of clearly used pants…I have 4 other colors of the same. The pants I was sent were worn, washed, dried - and shrunken pants (supposed to be dry cleaned). It was very obvious. It is also the third time I have been sent used clothes that have been retagged and sold as new, or I would say it's a fluke.
