GW offers our family a variety of tools and accessories beyond what is available at big box home improvement stores, or even specialty hobby or gardening outlets. Many of their available tools source from quality providers in the USA and worldwide, rather than being sourced from mass producers of lower quality and less innovative designs. The online catalog is easy to access and survey what is available for a hobby, gardening or home project. And, orders are promptly properly packaged and shipped. The invoicing process was straightforward and pricing or discounts properly applied. Customer service is responsive should any issues arise.
WEnt on the web site and bought a steel pan, Looked nice and figured it would serve my needs. Tapped the button to buy and *pow* my $$ disappeared...Got a reply that it would ship"soon" yeah,right...No shipping confirmation after about a week, Went to the Garrett-Wade web site, No help there. Said I didn't make an order. Tried a couple of times and same result...Tried calling...futile effort, Seems everyone was out cooking in my new pan... Waited a couple weeks and the pan finally showed up, Third party shipper from their warehouse...As a side note: The pan is as advertised and works well.
I purchased this grinder for our daughter who has been looking in antique and thrift stores for such an item. She loves it for its function and the reliable Italian design!
I've ordered a few tools from Garrett Wade. One tool was a garden weeder called "grandpas weeder" and the other was a ratcheting hand drill that accepted 4-way bits with a removable chuck.
Both tools have worked well and given me excellent results in the woodshop and in the yard.
I love the unique and durable tools which are well-made and practical. They also have some really beautiful items, like brass lamps and backgammon boards.

Their claimed 90-day return for full refund policy is a farce and a rouse. The amount credited is always either shorted and in some cases they claim it's been issued despite the fact that it never shows up as credited back to the credit card used to make the original purchase. What's worse is their customer service reps are totally rude, stubborn, unwilling or flat-out intellectually incapable to understand the situation, and in the end a totally useless waste of hours upon hours of time being argued with, placed on endless holds, followed by more rinse and repeat of the same with no resolution ever accomplished. Totally impossible to deal with. Stay away from this pack to crooked nit-wits!
Updating this review to add a few stars solely because of the excellent resolution provided by Susan to fix everything. Best to always contact GW's customer service during weekday business hours and avoid weekends. If you ever get Ed, Darryl, Natalie, or supervisor Melvin then hang up and dial back in to get someone else.

While I've only recently started shopping at Garrett Wade, my experience so far has been great.
To date, I've ordered and received: a 45th Anniversary Woodworker's Chisel Set, an Ultimate Versatile Vise and two Box Hatchets. Each tool has exceeded my expectations in terms of value for the price, material construction and build quality.
The level of customer service I've received from Garrett Wade is even more impressive: my orders have all arrived within a few days (during a global pandemic), my emails have all been answered within 24 to 48 hours and any questions I've had have been answered fully. It's customer service rarely seen these days and it's what sets Garrett Wade apart from so many other companies.

We have bought knives from Garrett Wade previously and been very satisfied with them. They are old stock from French cutlery makers. Their service is very good as are there products- very reliable.
I ordered several garden tools from Garrett Wade online, order #*******857. It was a gift for a relative who lives on the West coast, and I am on the East coast. I specified the delivery address as where the item is supposed to go, and had give my address separately to go with my credit card payment for security reason, as usually. This was my first order from Garrett Wade, and the company seemed reputable.
To my surprise the box with the tools was dropped on my porch today. I called GW to see if they can correct their mistake. The answer was that the only solution is for me is to place a totally new order on their web site. They didn't offer to correct THEIR mistake, e.g. to ship another set to a right address and have me return the box for free. Nor did they offer me to ship the box to a correct address myself and comp the shipment. When I placed the order I used a coupon code and a discount. The discounts have now expired and I'd have to pay more for the same items.
I did not want to pay for shipping of heavy garden items across the country in a first place. Needless to say this will be my first and last order with GW.

The products I have purchased from Garrett Wade have been of great quality, I get what I order, and it comes in a timely manner. That constitutes excellent service to me!
I received a gift of things I already had. I tried to exchange them by following the clear exchange directions on the mailing label that came with my order. The company said they don't do exchanges and refused to honor what was clearly laid out in the form. They said the only way is to return the items and credit back to the original form of payment. As this was a gift, the gift recipient (me) loses the gift. The package was also missing items from the original order. NEVER BUY FROM THEM and NEVER DEAL WITH THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE. I hear that this used to be a good and trustworthy company; WHAT CHANGED?

I've had 2 of these spades. The best spade for digging holes for smaller plants. Sharp cutting and easy to handle. You can jump on the handle if needed. Solid steel blade and handle.

I ordered the rachet pruners for my son-in-law who is a landscaper. He thinks they are awesome! Definitely cuts through thicker branches easily. He likes the ease of blade replacement as well.
We have been long time customers of Garrett Wade, but that is coming to an end. I purchase several items for gifts this holiday. When I ordered, I was offered a free flashlight... no biggie, but seemed like a nice perk. I also ordered two folding shovels. When the order was placed, everything was listed as in stock. The order confirmation showed that 1 of the shovels was back-ordered and would be shipped later. This was Dec 6th. On Dec 24, the shovels were listed as in stock on the web page, but they had never shipped. I contacted customer service and was told that the items would no longer be carried - however, not only were they still listed for sale on the website, they were listed as being in stock and I could add up 6 of them my cart. Not back ordered, not unavailable. I asked about this and the flashlight... and was told that the website and their stock were out of sync... and they had accidentally canceled the flashlight with the shovels and it could not be reinstated. Such a shame- not only their apparently ineptitude, but the complete lack of caring about their customers. We were wondering if they are under new ownership. This is such a difference from the Garrett Wade we have known.
Made in Germany and made to last, a lifetime. Excellent tool for weeding, and other tasks. All I had to do was put a little cloth friction tape (hockey tape) on the handle to improve grip.
Always the highest quality products. Well worth the money! Sometimes shipping can be a little slow, compared to other on-line retailers, but I've always found it worth the wait.

You purchase an item, get an email with a tracking #. The tracking # is a sham, you get a tracking # but the item has not been given to UPS yet. It can be days before they actually give the item to UPS. I WILL NEVER BUY FROM THIS SITE AGAIN. Look somewhere else for same quality products.
