WOW... I thought grindr would be a great app to use for meeting other gay guys in my community... I'd rather go to a gay bar and drink myself to drunkenness!
I've been using Grindr for ten years. I have witnessed it's rapid descent into dumpster fire. The subscription went from €6 a month to €20 a month only now you get LESS features, as they want you to pay €40 a month for the unlimited membership… really it's a con.
On top of that the app is owned by straight people who don't care at all about our community, just profits. They also use algorithms to permanently ban members, I was permanently banned recently despite not breaking ANY rules (as I said, I've used the app for ten years and I know exactly what is and isn't appropriate and what breaks the community guidelines) and with no reply from the team despite numerous attempts to contact them, I assume they are doing this to steal money. AVOID.
I've also now sent them a GDPR request which legally they must fulfil, if you are an EU citizen I recommend doing this as well as they legally have to hand over any and all data they hold about you, including any internal notes they attach to your file.
I beg all queer people, leave this app and let's find a new place to communicate, play, and celebrate our sexuality
Grindr will ban you and they will Just take someones word for it
About 1 hour ago some Local people nearby messaged me on a fake Blank account they said send $#*! pic i said face pic he said " your pic gets mine " i said i'm not playing your childish games so then he said your fake you always use the same pic i said at least i got 3 face pic unlike you so then he decides to report me for not sending him my nude pic and i'm banned on his word and say so yet No proof or Questions asked
Its worst. After upgraded my account from free to premium member( US65), suddenly they permanently ban my account, when i contacted to customer care, they said phrases are against the guidline. I couldnt understand, as a premium member, i dont have freedom to write something? I didnt write againt to anyone or anything. What F*****,, guys be careful, grindr is cheating app. Be carefull.
If something (phrases) is wrong moderator should edit it. F. right? I just paid 67US$ for one year. Now they ban permenantely. I hate grindr.
The reason why I am reviewing Grindr is that many people use dating apps for social, dating potentials, and hookups. I believe people need to be aware and not have a false sense of security.
I have had a paid membership with Grindr before and it was okay, I do think there is way too much potential scams of new members that seem to have a very dated pic (90"s) and misinformation about their stats. The pic doesn't seem to match with the person's weight or age. It seems obvious it's probably "Bots"(robots). People (fake) constantly ask for my phone to text and comment how attractive I am even though I have no pic only one with the beach or nature. I do like my privacy. Many METH addicts are on there trying to get me to buy them drugs which I immediately block.
Also, a lot of guys with roses (meaning hustlers/prostitution). The potential crime seems to be when someone immediately asks what my job is? Or if I am alone (not necessarily a crime but, when it's immediate it's noticeable).
I stopped alerting Grindr about the scams because it has gotten out of hand (too numerous to count).
Though it seems to have gotten better in my area (60 miles from a major city) when googling Murders and assaults on Grindr alone it's very alarming. I am sure they are working on this but, it seems to be mostly on Grindr and not so much on some of the other apps.
I am reviewing this so people don't naively give too much information to someone they don't know.
Be aware and act accordingly.: :)
Worst app ever, ton of bots who are Pic collecting, people stealing pictures from web sites to make them it, its them bots also so not interested, Gay Grindr is not a support of boy next door BOY COTT GRindr
Grindr staff are BULLIES & LIARS and Very dishonest they will make FALSE allegations about you saying you did all this stuff they wont send any proof to support it they will expect you to believe it they said i was being " abusive ' when asked for proof all they said was " we can not disclose this "
1) there are a lot of chat bots (maybe 5-10%) from places like China and Azerbaijan; these are identifiable by their lack of a geolocation and professional photos. If you'd like to engage in unending sexy chat this might be a good app for you. These profiles became more prevalent after grindr became web-based.
2) there are a lot of prostitutes; these are identifiable by the phrases "lost chats" (because grindr deleted their profile for obvious criminal activity) and the word "visiting" - what they really mean is traveling prostitute.
3) there appears to be a substantial and homeless and criminal element. Maybe they intend to rob you in your own home or have you show up in a car, ("Car Fun") than stick a knife or a gun in your ribs and drive away in your car. Have fun explaining that to the police.
4) there are a lot of just plain old fake profiles. There are an even greater number of false profiles with guys claiming to be something that they are not, such as hosting or clean.
5) You don't get what you pay for: grindr has a lot of ads for children's games which you cannot bypass and if you upgrade you continue to get those same ads for games. As a result of this grindr is a very slow process. You might even spend more time looking at ads then being able to browse or search. In the end every time I clicked on a profile it was an ad for a paid upgrade which I'm not going to be willing to pay for for the reasons listed above. At that point I uninstalled grindr from my phone. It's
In a nutshell it's Not so Great.
If grindr mandated geolocation, blocked the phone numbers of prostitutes, got rid of the web-based grindr, insisted on one XXX non-portrait full frontal and one non-portrait XXX side photo it would cut out a lot of the fake, false and criminal profiles and allow grindr to charge a weekly or monthly subscription without any ads. This would also probably result in a greater number of actual & real people participating in the app but unfortunately this is not their business model.
Please help. When I upgraded, I thought I chose the monthly payment option. I was surprised to see the whole annual fee go off my account. How do I fix this. To be billed monthly.
Grindr is a scam app to steal your money they will take your money then refuse to refund it they think an account you paid for is still there's they will take all your money then block your account for no reason then make some FAKE story up they wont send any proof they expect you to believe what their saying then they will hide behind their rules your paying for an account your not even using and they say NO refunds and the account is blocked permanently so your paying for an account they blocked or no reason they won't unblock it or give you a refund
Answer: 19.99. But chances are high that they will ban your profile after you've paid for subscription. Grindr has taken to stealing money from consumers by banning accounts without giving any reason. My patience ran out and I switched to http :// GCamsYou.com I like it much better! Boys provide great entertainment and solid support. No tricks with bogus charges and sudden ban. The best thing was actually having two dates offline! It's early days and I'm going with the flow and see where it goes, but so far it's the best platform I have dealt with. Don't waste your time on Grindr! They have lost touch with reality and turned into a total fraud. Catastrophic quality of people - scammers, bots, fakes, drug-dealers, etc and sneaky "support"! They don't police their own platform and don't value their customers anymore.
Answer: Grindr will only help you if you're straight or bi. They encourage homophobia and homophobic remarks and I have reported someone in the past, but because he was straight, he didn't get banned.
Answer: Yes. Please contact me at petermanwally@gmail.com. I'd like to know more about pursuing legal recourse.
Answer: Because Grindr is inconsistent. What do you expect from a less than mediocre website and obtuse management
